It was Mother's Day, and hubby was taking me to the airport. We drove 1.5 hours to get some Long John Silvers before heading to the airport. Well, to my surprise, the building was gone. We had to eat and decided to give this place a try. Nice, comfortable place with friendly staff. As you are waiting to be seated, you are tempted by a cold case with lots of homemade sweet goodies. I was hungry and wanted to try everything. Hubby wasn't that hungry, but he still ordered something. We started with a mixed munchies plate. This came with chicken strips, fried mozzarella sticks, and pierogies, with a side of marinara sauce. They had four daily soups. They all sounded really good. I had chicken and orzo, and my husband had cream of chicken (I think). The soups were amazing. It had big chunks of white meat chicken. I really wanted some beer-battered fish and chips. I was told the regular cod fish and chips were not beer-battered, and only the haddock was beer-battered. I opted for the haddock with French fries and corn. Hubby ordered Philly cheesesteak flatbread. The mixed munchies were good. I don't think I have had deep-fried pierogies. I think I prefer the steamed ones. But these had a good flavor. The haddock was huge. I sent a picture to my kids, and they commented that only the head and tail were missing. . . lol. . . I hardly ate any fries, but hubby said they were crispy, hot, and tasty. Hubby got his flatbread to go, and we ordered a strawberry shortbread cake to go. We had some of the cake as a late-night snack. It was okay, but I don't think I would get it again. I was thankful that hubby wasn't being "tight" today. I didn't even have to ask him to be generous with a tip. He said, "It's Mother's Day, and she's working". Sorry, forgot to snap a pick of the philly and the cake. read more

Very good food. .

Excellent Greek diner food - the spinach pie was 5 stars, & so were the dessert pies. The chicken parm panini was not great. Stick to the amazing Greek food & breakfasts. Very friendly staff. Beloved by the locals - & for good reason. A local landmark. read more

The food is always great. Burgers taste like meat, not sawdust. Soups are divine. Paninis--I've tried every one, can't name a favorite. Service? OMG. Friendly, accurate, informative. It's a bit above your regular "diner" ambiance, but not fussy or bougie. And the prices are ridiculous. Go there. Try everything on the menu at least once. read more

The food is always good. The service is incredibly fast. Sometimes shockingly fast. I like the gyro the best but pretty much everything I've had there has been very good. Solid choice. Not fancy but good. read more

Our club stopped at this diner on the way to Watkins Glenn. We were greeted by Judy who was absolutely amazing!!! She had to serve 19 men and one woman!!! The coffee and water was flowing. The orders were perfect and the food was delicious!!! This is a definite must. Prices reasonable. read more

Our waiter he was wonderful I asked what he would eat. The chicken franchise 100% wonderful also the chicken orzo soup yummy. Very clean and cozy I would definitely recommend coming here I drove past so many times and I finally made a good choice to stop in Definitely put this on the list of places to eat..... Let me start off by saying WOW! This diner is very down home and just what you expect from a restaurant. The portions are overwhelming so bring your appetite because the food is amazingly delicious. The servers are extremely friendly and very helpful with letting you know about the menu. The restaurant itself is like an old style diner with seating for groups of four and a small area to accommodate larger groups. read more

Food is absolutely terrible. The fries are over cooked, hollow and greasy. Al their sauces, ex: chicken parm hoagie, have onions in the sauce. The prices are way to high for garbage food. You don't even get fries when you order a burger, you have to pay for fries separate. They charge you $3 to add a few chocolate chips in your pancakes. This is easily the worst place I've ever eaten. The waitress was very robotic too, no personality at all. I do not recommend anything here. read more

A diner stop is a cornerstone of any respectable road trip. We headed up towards Ithaca early on a Friday evening and hit the expected amount of traffic. Viewmont Diner, an old time diner off I-380 near Scranton, was about halfway through the drive and seemed like a solid place to grab a bite. The menu spans the usual burgers, wraps, roasts, Greek and Italian meals, breakfast foods, and more: she went with a short stack of buttermilk pancakes; I did the spankopita with Greek salad. Maybe because it had been a while since dinner, but it's one of the better spinach pies I've had in a while. The salad was forgettable: limp, watery lettuce and overly vinegary dressing. Service was friendly and efficient read more

Have you ever literally eaten ass? If you're not that adventurous, you can try any egg related item on the menu and you will have a great baseline comparison. For 15 (!) dollars you can have the lowest quality ingredients cooked for you and served at your table. Everything tastes like it was cooked between two sweaty asscheeks Do not recommend read more

Everything tastes great here! Everything... The food has that unique taste of freshness, the meals are huge. It has that special flavor that I look for in Diners, I don't know how to say it better. Is the freshness, the flavor, just excellent food. read more

I don't normally like to leave bad reviews, but I had high hopes for this place being that it's a diner, but left being disappointed. The service was good, but the food definitely needed work. They have a very ambitious menu with lots to offer. I decided upon the chicken piccata which was served over spaghetti and came with a side salad. To start with a side salad with nothing but plain old iceberg lettuce, and a few onions. The Greek dressing was nothing but red wine vinegar with maybe a touch of oregano in it and that's it very very bland, a few boxed croutons. Now for the piccata, the chicken was tender, but the piccata sauce was heavy and pasty almost like flour and water. It lacked any flavor whatsoever no lemon no white wine no garlic... nothing just very very bland. It may have to have a hint of chicken stock and that's it. Even the capers were rather bland no salty taste to them. The pasty sauce made the spaghetti pasty also I couldn't even finish it. I will say that the fresh bake rolls were excellent and served with real butter. The highlight of the meal was the iced tea and the dinner rolls. I don't think I'll be back. .$27.00 with tax and tip. read more

Terrific service and a wide variety of menu options, but breakfast all day is the best part for me.

Ate Breakfast with couple family members food was okay not my problem here . We left the waitress a very nice cash tip . We then went to the front to pay the bill which was 70.00 and i was asked would i like to put a tip on my atm card , i replied no we left a cash tip . Today i go online to look at my atm purchases and notice they went on their own and added 11.00 to my atm card after we told the sneaky cashier we already left a tip. Take that money and retire with it you just lost customers for life that have spent a ton of money at this diner . And i will remember to tell everybody i know what you pulled . Very shady business practice and I'm really pissed off. read more

This is our go-to diner for whenever we're craving breakfast foods and the much-needed hangover recovery. Pre-Food Experience: Viewmont diner is located right off the highway near Viewmont mall. It's easy to spot with sufficient parking. The outside looks welcoming and not at all sketchy. Upon entering this diner, you are immediately greeted by the staff. They are warm and welcoming. They seat you pretty quickly as well. We've gone on busy days and our longest wait was 20 minutes. On most days, however, we're seated almost immediately. Once seated, the food comes out FAST. You'll probably only wait about 15 minutes The staff checks on you consistently and they usually always get your order right. We've ordered many different items from this place and we have to say, the lunch foods are much better than the breakfast foods. While the omelets and other dishes are excellent, the lunch foods, specifically the chicken flatbread and the burgers, are just what you need. Additionally, the presentation of all the foods are also on point. On the flip side, the paninis aren't all that great. They come out very thin with a little bit of meat and not enough flavor. They aren't terrible but aren't amazing (for the panini lovers out there). Overall, this restaurant gets 4 stars for its excellent staff, tasty foods, and speedy service. Five stars can definitely be achieved if the other concerns mentioned get addressed...which we'll be looking forward to. read more

Chipotle burger was amazing. Busy diner with great service. Huge menu to choose from

Upon entering we were taken to our table quickly. The floors and tables were clean. Although it had a cleaning fluid smell. I have to say I don't expect French cuisine in a diner. A waiter arrived in moments. He left menus. Although the specials were on a board we were walked past too quickly to see it so we asked...at 5pm he still didn't know the daily specials?. I ordered the classic turkey w stuffing, gravy with mashed potatoes. Included was cranberry sauce, a vegetable, a salad, and a bun with butter. The waiter did not bring my vegetables or buttered bun or cranberry sauce. I told him I didn't get the veg. He denied that the meal came with a vegetable. He brought cauliflower. It was cold in the center and sitting in a pool of water. It had no dressing, no butter oil vinegar, nothing. I had to ask for something to put on it. He brought a dish with what looked like melted butter. He denied the bun and butter was included with the meal. Same with the cranberry sauce. The main dish was drowned in an unnatural neon yellow thick thick gravy. I think it was made with flour milk and Goya powdered chicken flavored bouillon. That same bright yellow. The 'roasted' turkey was 2-3 oz of sliced deli meat. The bread stuffing was tasteless. As was everything else. . The scoop of mashed potatoes was instant but that was expected. I asked for water and got tap water. It has a heavy taste of chlorine and metals. I couldn't eat the meal, I tried, and couldn't drink the water. I went home hungry and thirsty. I would have sent it back but I don't trust people who already had the audacity to serve slop, to serve me ethically. We were three at a table. The stuffed flounder was burned on top . The cabbage rolls were way overcooked. The waiter never came around to take empty soiled plates. We sat with the table full of garbage until we left. Too bad. I used to recommend it. I give up on trying to find a decent place to have a simple meal. read more

This is a fabulous diner. We lived in Scranton for years and came here often... It was our favorite. We haven't been back in four years and it's still just as fantastic. Listen this gyro platter is outstanding. Nothing at any diner or Greek restaurant in Pittsburgh, where I live now, can touch this place. The dressing is so perfectly sour and it soaks into the crispy meat. You can create a dozen different perfect bites. I mean look at the photo, it came out perfectly constructed within five minutes of ordering at 10:30 at night. My wife got the Greek salad with chicken, also fire and just like we remembered it. Leaning back in my booth very satisfied, I noticed the cake case and remembered the lemon berry mascarpone cake!! I'm not much for desserts but this is seriously good. Like Oakmont bakery or Prantls good cake. Viewms is definitely a death row meal for me. You should eat there. read more

We were so overjoyed to find a simple down home place to eat. Loved our food that night. Had the Chicken croquettes, salad, and pirogies. Wife had the Gyro, and our niece had some spaghetti. We love down home food from a diner and you were the closest to our hotel. We are glad we picked your place. The staff were so friendly almost like they were fine dining trained to take care of customers. While I have not lived in your town in decades, when I come to visit I want to have food and service that reminds me of the home I grew up in. Your staff did exactly that. Thanks again. read more

A restaurant that's been there for many many years. The price is right. The food is homemade and the service is excellent.

What a gem! Stopped by while in town overnight. Hostess was very friendly. Waitress was also very helpful and accommodating. I eat vegan and there were many options for me to choose from with only slight changes. I ended up with an Impossible burger on a pretzel bun and fries. It was as good as I've had anywhere! My husband had the triple decker turkey club. He ate it all and then got dessert. My son got a burger and Caesar salad and also ate every bite. Overall good food served quickly at an affordable price. I would definitely go back. read more

Nice place. It's a bit more of a mix between a regular breakfast restaurant and older diner. It's definitely not the old-school diner vibe like many of the other local diners that have been here for over a century. It's a bit more expensive than them too. I will say they definitely have the best coffee i've ever had at a diner. It's cafe quality IMO. The food is good and I like the Greek additions to the menu that make it better than your typical breakfast joint. read more

Had a quality breakfast here the other day. Enjoyed an omelet where I chose the ingredients- peppers, bacon, and cheddar cheese. Absolutely would recommend. And my friend had the country fried steak with a biscuit and gravy. It exceeded our medium expectations and was pretty good. The prices are reasonable for the food quality. The staff was kind and professional. However, the restaurant itself doesn't feel particularly clean. It's mediocre. Definitely a diner. read more

Don't stop. They use very low grade food. I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the food. The hash browns were old and you can tell have been frozen and defrosted a few times. Even the tables around me left them on the plates. The server was very polite but didn't come back to the table until we were almost done.
