Had errands in the area so stopped for a late lunch. Dated old diner vibe. Ordered a veggie omelet with fries. Didn't realize till after ordering that omelets/eggs do NOT come with potatoes, only toast included. Home fries or French fries are $4.49 extra, are you kidding me?? What diner serves egg dishes without potatoes.,Coffee was $2.89 so I passed, just had water. Omelet was cooked well but veggies were crispy, some put in raw, I prefer veggies cooked before going in omelet. Service was ok. Wouldn't go back. read more

Update: Welcome back to another episode of Local Eats & Takeouts food crew. Today I am coming back to D's Diner having a little something "outside the box". I am having a short order of French Toast, adding a side of sausage, and having a side order of their home fried potatoes. Now the toast was fluffy and thick, had a great taste mixed with the butter and syrup. The sausage was cooked to perfection. Those home fried taters, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, oh and those peppers and onions added just makes it all complete. My wife and I normally visit D's Dinner after leaving the casino in the morning. It was my wife's birthday and wanted a good breakfast. We had a young blonde girl wait on us. My wife ordered, then I ordered the #4 eggs, bacon, white toast, potatoes, coffee and the waitress asked if I wanted pancakes or French toast. I order the French toast. The waitress forgot to bring the coffee, after 5 minutes I reminded her. We ate the meals, tipped and left still hunger. Then I remembered I did get the french toast. I called, talked to waitress, she first stated yes come back---live 30 miles away. Then waitress mixed our booth order with a counter order and stated no you didn't order that, so we owe you nothing---lying and covering her as@. We even gave a nice tip when we let. Stopped for lunch, my son and I each had a wrap, a chicken and a meatloaf. The wraps only had lettuce on them with nothing else, not even mayo on the chicken wrap. Anything that you wanted to add was an up charge of $1.19. Oh, and they came with a puny bag of chips, all for $22.72 inc. sales tax. This restaurant has gone way done the slope in quality and quantity. we will never go back! read more

A great location. Almost across the street from the entrance to Mohegan Sun, Poconos. Everyone was very friendly. There is handicapped accessibility, to the side of the building. Everybody was helpful and gracious to my partner, who uses a walker. The place was bright and clean on the inside. The food was great. My partner had the blueberry pancakes. Huge, fluffy pancakes with giant blueberries. She absolutely loved them. She tore into them so fast, I didn't get a picture. She liked the raspberry tea very much. She also had a slice of ham which she shared with me. It was grilled perfectly. I tried this my last trip to Pennsylvania, so once again, I had to have the scrapple! And eggs. If you don't know what scrapple is, it's basically "pig scraps", formed into a loaf. As bizarre as that sounds, it is a Mainstay of Pennsylvania. I loved it from the first time I tried it. The flavor is a bit strong and rich, but I put ketchup on mine, and it makes it perfect. I had strawberries on the side, which made for a fresh note. The coffee is very good. All of this great food, and the check was only $20 before tip. The restaurant is cash only, but there is an ATM Extremely reasonable.Prices, Great food, decent portions, and friendly service. Very friendly staff and patrons here. We were visiting this town for a concert and happily stumbled upon this little gem. One of my favorite eggs Benedict with home fries I've ever had. The chocolate chip muffin was loaded with chocolate chip. They also have a lot of lunch choices I couldn't fit into a picture with the menu. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely come back! I even bought a shirt for $11! read more

As expected..., it's an old-school Diner. Provably same customers at the same time, daily. The Mayor and the Sheriff were there eating so it must be good and old. No complaints. I had the 3 egg veggie omelette with hash browns (peppers/onions). I would ask for the hash browns to be cooked longer is all. Nice staff, busy. read more

The food was amazing. I ordered the Chicken Tenders and it was crunchy and really tasty. The corn wasn't as good but I still ate it. The fries are really good. I also ordered Key Lime Pie and it was very sweet but in a good way. It's has really nice ambiance and really cute. The service was great also and was quick with getting my food. I had this place for breakfast once and I thought it was great. I just had it for lunch and the food was awful ! The honey mustard sauce they gave me was in a packet and spoiled green . For my family and I to just have lunch it was 50 bucks plus tip and it was not worth it . My son's cheeseburger was undercooked and the pickles were dried up and apparently from the last of the jar . Lettuce had black spots . I wouldn't recommend this place anymore and I use to love it years ago . Too bad read more

They have breakfast specials before 11:00 and breakfast all day directly across from the casino. This is basic diner food. The scrambled eggs were fresh and the rye toast was tasty. Nothing to write home about overall. The coffee had good flavor but was a little on the watery side. We appreciated the outdoor seating under a tent. The tables were nicely spaced. read more

The website said that they were open, and Yelp said that they take credit cards. When we got there, there were two signs on the door. One said CASH ONLY, and the other said "Closed for vacation until August 4." Not really happy about either one. read more

Covid review: Despite how busy this place was on labor day Monday, the food came out quickly. Service was great. They are not Byob which we learned after cracking open some beers, but the waitress was very nice about it. Overall, I dont think any of us truly liked our food. The only thing I liked was the corn fritters. They're home made, which I truly appreciated. They tasted great. I think the syrup they give you is unnecessary. They're fine on their own. They switched the bread for my and my friends meal. They put my egg and cheese sandwich on a burger bun and they put my friends burger on my breakfast roll. The home fries were undercooked and no flavor. I couldn't finish them. My egg was overcooked and dry. Cheese was undercooked. Very weird considering the eggs were overcooked. I can't speak full details onneveryones meals, but dont think we will finished or were too impressed. read more

My oldest 3 sons and I stopped in. The service was horrible. The waitress was immediately rude to my 17 year old. We waited 15 minutes for menus. She got our drinks wrong and was visibly upset at having to fix it. When the correct drinks came we ordered food. The main dishes and sides came out in such an odd order at no point did anyone have a full meal in front of them. She got our food order wrong and was visibly aggravated at having to correct it. My 15 year old ordered a medium rare steak. It came back so very well done he couldn't chew it. We sent it back and asked again for medium rare. They served him a raw steak. It wasn't even warm inside. It was inedible. They refused to fix the order, the waitress was mouthy and they still charged us for it. Terrible. The staff showed no acknowledgement when you walked in I had to ask where can we sit and she looked at me like I had three heads and replied sit anywhere. Ok fine but then we had to wait for menus waited for the girl to come back to take our order then we waited over a half hour before our food came. We ordered grilled cheese and soup and eggs with bacon. Ridiculous! If I didn't ask where our food was we'd still be waiting it must have been sitting there for a while because my grilled cheese sandwich was cold cream of mushroom soup was disgusting overly thick and lots of garlic which I found odd but the pickle was good lol home fries cold and extra charge for onions and peppers! D's looks like every other diner and ever since it switched from Eddy's Diner to D's Diner people have been skeptical of it not being the same. But I'd honestly say it's the same if not better! The food is great as always, and the portions are huge for what you pay for. It's open 24/7 and I've gone at all times of the day and still get the same food and the same great service. D's has yet to disappoint me in anyway, the only minor inconvenience is that they don't take card, but there is an ATM right by the entrance so that's really no issue either. 50's/60's diner old fashioned with charm, cash only that stays open 24 hours. As you walk into the diner, you feel like your transformed back in time. Thank you fellow yelpers for your recommendation. My mom and I split the Southern chicken plate which was perfect for two. Our waitress and older lady went above and beyond, service was fast, we ordered dessert a piece of homemade Raspberry cake from a local Scranton bakery. She was nice enough to cut it in two, box it up, gave us utensils..chatted awhile in the process. Kudos to the bakery, the cake was light, flavorful and not to sweet of icing. The food was really good, I honestly thought it was going to be worse. Now the service was poor, the older ladies who work there are rude and inconsiderate whilst the younger ladies are very nice. The ambiance is old, it def needs a touch up. Modernize this place more then it's good. The bonus is that this place is 24 hours, is close to attractions, and has an underground lounge. I haven't checked that out but it's always worth experiencing. read more

Just passing through town (Wilkes-Barre) for an overnight stay on a long trip and looking for something quick and good to eat. Classic diner? Why not! D's Diner got me exactly what I was looking for. Great original style diner with friendly service and classic menu. My burger and coleslaw combo ended up being well under $10. They were willing to accommodate making substitutions on a couple small things and adding sautéed onions to my burger. I think I found a new place to grab food on my trips through Wilkes-Barre. Cash only. Perfectly adequate 'nothing else is open' diner food at 5AM. But that's about it, adequate. I had a western omelet and a side of sausage. The omelet was typical, needed seasoning or hot sauce, but fine. The sausage was overcooked and dry, but edible. Coffee was fine. Speaking of which, what is it about diner food that makes coffee taste like gasoline? Sipping my coffee and it's fine, but then the food comes so I take a couple bites and then go back to my coffee... gasoline. Weird. Used to happen at the diner I went to in NY also.
