After a long 11-hour drive, which culminated in a snow squall, and checking into my hotel.. I needed some good, hot and healthy food fast. A quick Yelp search found this spot not too far from my hotel and right off RT 81. Pasta primavera with chicken - great fresh vegetables including asparagus, summer squash and mushrooms, with fresh chicken cooked just right. Not over-cooked! A huge plate I cannot finish and a side of delicious crispy on the outside, soft in the inside, baguette slices with a wonderful herbed butter. (Just with the butter had been soft and not directly from the fridge). The service was quick and friendly. A very good choice for a last-minute one!!

Behold! A bun in plastic wrap!

Ordered a Roast Beef Sub with no mayo for delivery. They gave me an empty bun in plastic wrap. I've attached a photo, and then also included the famous #FyreFestival sandwich for reference. The Fyre sandwich still has one up on what I was delivered as it is TECHNICALLY a sandwich. Anyway, I got a salad and soup, which were decent so I'm not going to give them one star. They're also sending me a new sub eventually, which puts them up to a three. I just had to share this photo because it is HILARIOUS.

We occasionally order take out and it's really good! If you call early enough/with enough notice they will deliver to certain locations. I always get (and have only gotten) the Citrus Salad with dressing on the side. If i bring it home I'll bake some vegan chicken to put on top of the salad. Delish! The salad consists of tender spring mix, craisins, mandarin oranges sugar walnuts, cucumber and house citrus dressing. I did eat in there once years ago and didn't love the dining experience. We felt like we were nonstop being watched. But i would try it again since it's been quite some time.

The best spot for great food. Every dish is made and prepared with love. Everything is always fresh and delicious. Perfect size portions. Great prices. Great food. Very professional staff, owner is always around socializing and making sure his guests are happy. I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone.

By itself the food would probably deserve a four star rating. But the greeting and ordering process was a disaster so I adjusted down.

One of my friends who is in the restaurant industry told me she heard poor reviews, so, guess what, we went to try without those friends!! We went with a group and happened to go for their valentine day special. Most got their special of "surf and turf", which was a very small piece of fillet and 4 shrimp. First off, I will say, the food itself was very good. No one was a fan of how this dish was presented, all on one large dish to be split by the couple. Once split, it cooled off quickly and looked more like an appetizer or tapas (small plate). My biggest recommendation would be quantity. For example, the salads were very, very skimpy. The "sides" with the surf and turf special were also, very skimpy. Now, we have dined all over the globe in very high end restaurants and understand quantity does not equate to quality, BUT, in this instance, it seems Isabellas is trying to make or remake their name in the local restaurant scene. They are doing so much right, just increase the quantity of a few of the items. For example, the special surf and turf dinner for two, had there been an ever so increase in the potato au gratin side and the spinach (which, I would also say, needed a bit of help, not bad, but one more like Ruth Chris's renowned creamed spinach) would have been better. So, I don't think making those servings just a wee bit larger would increase the cost of goods significantly, but would certainly go a long way in making the average diner feel more satisfied.

Seemed stale. For 42 dollars I had 1 shrimp stuffed with crab meat. No lumping crab meat. Very mushy. A small bundle of vegetable with 2 carrots and 2 slices of squash. There was a crab cake that was mushy. The 4 ounce lamb chop was cooked nicely. Very pricey for mediocre quality. Also, there was a plastic like leaf on the plate that was inedible. Not many diners on a Saturday night. I have used to love it here. Prior to the pandemic it was awesome. I have tried 3 times since and it never improved to the prior standards. I will not be back. Too many great restaurants in the area to waste my time and money here.

The extensive menu features a variety of brunch options, salads, and sandwiches. Their veggie options are a bit limited, but definitely present (ex: falafel salad, avocado toast), and many of the dishes feature unique combinations and homemade sauces/aiolis. I landed on the Smoked Salmon Avocado toast, which was fine. I was disappointed that it seemed to be made with prepackaged guacamole/avocado (I'm sure for cost reasons), and the bread was pretty thick so it was challenging to eat. Flavor-wise, it was solid, but I think I'll try one of the other, more creative options next time. My cousin chose their turkey sandwich and seemed to enjoy. It was large enough that she took half home! Our food arrived before our matcha lattes, so we wound up asking for to-go cups. The matcha itself was delicious, though sweeter than we anticipated (in retrospect, we should have realized that a "white chocolate lavender matcha macchiato" would be pretty sweet!).

I googled "breakfast" and this place was closest......I looked at the pictures posted online and decided to give it a try. For one, if you don't know where your going - like me - then this place is going to be hard to find (like it was for me). I'm driving around in the parking lot swearing at my navigation because it was telling me I was there but I can't see a darn restaurant. I get out the car, walk around a bit and see the artwork on the side of the building. Kooky place! It's inside of some type of co-opt building? Best way to describe it from an outsider's viewpoint. I ask for single seating NOT at the bar and they easily accommodated me. Wasn't super busy but it was nicely packed. The girl up front gave me TWO drink menus and their special menu.... When I first sat down and took a look, my initial thought was, "eff this place. It's ridiculous". The waitress explained that I was inadvertently given two drink menus but I should have been given an actual menu. She rectified the situation. I took a look at the ACTUAL menu and thought, "eff this place". All I wanted was a traditional AMERICAN breakfast. Pancakes, omelettes, hash brown and all I read is a bunch of fru-fru nonsense. I head to the bathroom thinking about how much of a friggin redneck I've become while laughing at the thought. So I order the breakfast bowl option because it seemed close to something I would have ordered at a regular diner. I gotta say.... great job! The beer cheese adds a phenomenal flavor profile and the portion was MORE than fair! I added sausage AND bacon (with an upcharge) but it was worth it. This place AIN'T for me....but if you're looking for something unique and a bit different, it could be for you. This is the type of place I'd bring a chic if I was trying to convince her I was cool and hip. Let's face it, though.... there's not a restaurant in American that can convince anyone I'm cool and hip... lmao give this place a try!

Fast forward a few years, and during a recent visit back to the area, I found myself with no plans on New Year's Eve. Thankfully, some old friends knew I'd be a lonesome third wheel, so they graciously invited me to join their dinner plans at Rustic Kitchen. They even had a reservation and managed to sneak me in. On New Year's Eve, no less! That's already a win in my book. We arrived at 7:30 p.m. and were promptly seated in a cozy booth--great for catching up and digging into some good food. Rustic Kitchen was offering its regular menu plus a special New Year's Eve menu, which included a surf and turf option for $75. One of my friends splurged on it, but I had my eye on some other options. Since I was driving, I asked if they had non-alcoholic beer, and to my surprise, they had two options! Huge props for that. As we chatted and reminisced, we nibbled on some fresh, fluffy focaccia bread that was dangerously addictive. Then it was time to order, and I started with the Meatballs al Forno. A very generous portion of tender, flavorful meatballs bubbling away in marinara, smothered with melty mozzarella cheese. It was so good I almost forgave my friends for refusing to help me devour them. Almost. Next up was a salad that was on the special menu for the evening. It featured mixed greens, walnuts, blackberries, and a glorious, creamy ball of housemade burrata cheese. It was fresh, delicious, and a perfect segue to the star of the meal: the Spanish Pork Chop. This wasn't just any pork chop--it was a bone-in beauty, cooked to a perfect medium and topped with the chef's mother's secret sauce. The sauce was a mix of bacon, onions, olives, and light tomato flavors that brought everything together. It came with mashed potatoes and broccolini. When dessert time rolled around, we all pretended to be strong-willed and skipped it. Despite it being a holiday, the service was unhurried and impeccable, with each course arriving at just the right pace. Rustic Kitchen was everything I remembered it to be--excellent food, warm atmosphere, and stellar service. It's no wonder this place has stood the test of time as one of the original restaurants at Mohegan Sun. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. And as for the slot machines?

We did the Italian four course chef's dinner in February and rented an igloo for a friend's daughter's birthday earlier in the month. We started with clams which were large and we all had surf and turf which comes with sides and salad/soup. The lobster was sweet and delicious, served with filet mignon, mashed potatoes, and green bean/carrot mixture. The filet on the other hand was a bit over cooked per request and also had a smoked taste. The bill was steep with surf and turf being $65.. for a total of $400. Overall, I enjoyed although I agree with other reviews with the prices being a bit out of range for what you get.
