Had lunch there today. My husband ordered the chicken noodle soup. The soup was extremely salty. My husband also ordered the Turkey club pannini which he did enjoy. I did not feel the same way about my spinach salad with chicken & warm bacon dressing. Mushrooms were cut very large, they forgot the egg & the dressing was room temperature. My biggest complaint was that we waited 30 minutes for our food(with the exception of the soup, which was served quickly). The 3 people behind us received their food so I knew our order had to have been misplaced. I informed the waitress, who said they would check on it. A few minutes later we had our food served with no apology. I understand that this may happen occasionally but at least say you are sorry for the delay. We were told the kitchen was backed up but I know this was not the case since the 3 people who were behind us were already served. The customer who ordered right before us was actually leaving when we got our food. As a side note, the ladies restroom was not clean and was out of paper towels. read more

So far so good. Reservations at 6 sat right down. Service perfect came right over. 6 dollars for a merlot full glass very nice. Bread is light and delish. Great atmosphere very relaxing. Our 4 or 5 time here and each time is better and better. Meat and cheese ravioli were not good at all though. Very under cooked and the meat was yucky. Two of us got that. Stopped in after the dinner rush with the family on Friday evening. The service was very good. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We had four entrees off of the dinner menu. Each dish was made with fresh, quality ingredients. The ambiance was pleasant but not too fancy for a family. Seafood dishes were particularly good. We would certainly eat here again. We Picked this place by chance while driving from Vermont to Pittsburgh. We weren't looking for upscale but stayed anyway. The atmosphere was casual to finer and the food was superb. My husband had the coconut shrimp risotto and I had the Lobster mac and cheese. Presentation and flavor more than met our expectations. The portions were so big we couldn't finish. Food was good but the rosemary sprigs coming out of every plate was very odd. The service was terrible. It's some sort of group operation where you don't have an assigned waitress. No one had any idea where we were in our dinner. We never were offered specials or asked for drinks. Right into the order. My wife and I ate here recently, and I have to say we were both disappointed. She had Salmon w/Spinach that was way over salted and the Mashed Potatoes were saturated with White Pepper-they were way to strong to even eat. To make matters worse, The stuffed chicken dish I bought for 18.00 was nothing more than a pre-made, pre processed chicken item that was bought from the food vendor-in my opinion. I also have a culinary degree and have been in the food business for 20 years-I know homemade and I know pre-bought that they just throw in the oven. Very disappointing. The bread was very good and brought to the table warm. It was served with a pumpkin butter. Just don't ask for another basket of bread. They WILL bring you another couple slices, but the waitress brought back the same bread basket with our half used pumpkin butter-guess I could not get a fresh pumpkin butter. Dessert- My wife had the bunt cake with ice cream-Once again it appeared to be a bought in item-not made in house. I have no problem paying for good food-if that's what it is. This experience was very disappointing and we probably will never return. read more

We went for lunch- an assortment of soups salads and sandwiches. The servers told me the soups are home made and so are most of the desserts. My chicken soup and apple walnut salad were nice, though the greens were not farm fresh. The others at our table liked their sandwiches but said they were "nothing special". Dropped my daughter at Wilkes University this evening and found this place by chance. The food and the service was superb! Definitely try the house citrus balsamic vinaigrette dressing. We decided to try the Café (At Pic-A-Deli) while visiting. We wanted an easy and quick meal and with a name like the Café we thought that this would be such. Were we wrong? Located in a small strip mall, they have three sections; the restaurant, the deli and a private room. When we walked into the deli (yes, they had a meat case and a chalk board), but also a hostess who asked us if we had reservations. We didn't and we were seated in the main dining room. From that moment on, we experienced fine dining. The staff was attentive and courteous. The meal itself was top notch (no skimping here). Full enough that we didn't order dessert and I even had to bring my angel hair pasta home. It cost a little more than we had budgeted, but was worth every penny. One good night does not a legend make, but it sure was a good start. A warm spinach salad with mushrooms and hard boiled egg slices, and a non-traditional clams casino in a very tasty dipping sauce were the first signs of an unusually fine dining experience. We were very excited to come here for lunch- around threeish before the dinner change, and were very dissapointed. I had a mediocre croissant sandwich- where the croissant was more of a hard white bread- not flaky and buttery. My partner got a sandwich served with melted cheese and gravy- both of which were cold. We were the only customers there and waited twenty five minutes for simple sandwiches- which came out cold and pretty bland. Even the cheese for our cheese fries came out cold- big dissapointment, I dont know if we were forgotten about, but we were sitting in plain veiw of the workers at the bar- and no apology was given. I've eaten here once for a family party in their banquet room in the back. Food was tasty, dishes out front, although I have not sampled them yet, looked delicious. Stopped in on another occasion and just had a few drinks. The staff was very nice and accommodating, they even put the Hockey game on for me. I also had a unique opportunity to talk to the owner while there, he is very down to earth and super nice. Revisited this establishment after a great experience with dinner a few years ago. Arrived too early for dinner, about 3:45PM and after standing just inside the entrance for a couple of minutes, woman behind the bar very gruffly states "order over here" (pointing to another part of the bar) "and menu's up on the board". No 'hello', nothing. I asked if there was dinner service to which she stated "not til 5". So, the two of us stood there, contemplating whether to stay and wait or venture somewhere else and come back, or not at all. We decided to go have a couple drinks elsewhere and come back. When we did come back at 5:30, totally different vibe. Better ambience, a greeter that was friendly and soft-spoken and we were seated at a nice window table. Waitress approached fairly quickly, took our drink orders and we perused the menu. Menu items all seemed great and unique. Then the actual food came. Ick. My date couldn't eat his steak, too much gristle. I ate one of my pork tourandoes but had the other one packaged to go. Drinks were fine, waitress was perfect. Food sucked. Within about 15 minutes of traveling in the car with the pork leftovers, the stench of bad food or eggs just permeated the car. The pork was bad. Plain and simple. Again, waitress was attentive, friendly, personable and terrific. Everything else about the place ensured we will never return. read more

What a great find this restaurant is. The menu is interesting and the food is well prepared. I had veal saltimbocca and my husband had the stone crabs special. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant - not a huge place so make reservations. I would have given five stars if the service was a bit more prompt, but all in all we enjoyed this, our first visit. It was a fairly good experience on a Friday night. My group of 4 walked in and it wasn't clear whether or not we should seat ourselves and no one noticed us for a few minutes. We finally saw the hostess stand further in past the bar. We were asked if we wanted to eat - we did. The restaurant was pretty empty but it was close to 8 pm. Service was adequate, I'm not sure our waitress ever told us her name so I can't refer to her but she seemed disinterested at best. Drinks were timely. The bread (which was nice and came with honey butter) came late just before the appetizer. Oh and the app.. I wanted lollipop lambchops for the group and asked our server how many came in an order. She said she thought 3. I said I wanted one for everyone so if it was 3 then give us two orders. When our orderS arrived we had two plates of FOUR. Okay. I'm not going to say anything but, really? They were very good as was the roasted red pepper soup and everyone seemed pleased with their salads. The entrees we ordered included a special of fish I have never heard of and still can't recall (and I would consider myself a decently educated foodie), the stuffed haddock and two champagne risottos. Both fish dishes were well received. The rice itself in the risotto was good but the scallops were not at all seared and very overdone. One friend ordered dessert and he was pretty disappointed with the coconut cake. So it was an up and down night, some hits and some misses. For the area I think this is still a good option but not great. read more

This restaurant is one of the best in Wilkes-Barre. It is more upscale than most of the other restaurants in the city, so expect some creative menu choices. They also have an extensive wine and alcohol selection. The service is very good here, and the specials are usually very unique. They also offer outdoor seating in the warmer months. This is a great place to bring a date, and is a nice alternative to eating at one of the chain places at Mohegan Sun Casino. read more

Great lunch spot, average dinner spot. Lunch there is alike a social event plus a meal. The owners are there, people are friendly and they have a nice fresh selection of salads and sandwiches. Dinner on the other hand is a miss. They try to "Jazz" it up at night but there are several problems: tables are too close together, every time I have been there the service is slow. If I go out for dinner, I am doing it to have a better experience than what I could create at home. I think they miss it in the evenings. read more

I made a 7:30 Valentine's reservation and that's exactly when we arrived. We waited over a half hour and after seeing multiple empty tables I spoke with the host again. After five minutes of standing there he got the owner, why he couldn't simply seat us is beyond my knowledge. After finally sitting down and being provided with no explanation or apology we were given drinks and menus, where the CHEAPEST entree was 46 dollars. At this point we should've left like the couple next to us, but I wanted to give my girlfriend a nice Valentine's Day. You had two appetizers to pick from, chicken teriyaki pot stickers or two hard pieces of bread with sauce. Neither were that great. My girlfriend's main plate came out cold and my steak was nowhere near being worth 50 dollars. The four miniature desserts we received had to be bought from a grocery store.. My girlfriend felt bad I paid over 100 for that bad of an experience, called to complain and was promised, by the owner, a gift certificate that she never received.. Bottom line, this guy cares more about profit than anything. Take your money elsewhere because even a chain would've been a much better decision. read more

Trying to be fine dining but a swing and a miss. Nice atmosphere. Hostess read the specials from her book. Every dish had the "retro" rosemary spring and purple orchard. The scallop appetizer ($10) was slightly overcooked and you couldn't taste the sauce due to the breading. I ordered the duck ($20)...since they did not ask me the temperature I assumed to would be cooked correctly to medium rare but it came out well done. The accompaniment were fried spring rolls (greasy), fresh green beans & carrots without the carrots and duchess piped potato WITH rosemary spring and flower. When my coffee arrived warm and I shared with the waitress, she nuked my coffee with the cream in it!!! Really, it made me chuckle at the table. Ordered dessert which the hostess came back to tell me had been sold out between ringing it on my check and the order being placed. They tried, but swing and miss.
