Your classic Anthracite counter/ N.E. Diner, with streamlined decor/feel. Menu is great/ classic diner grub, and in an economy that has skyrocketed all food prices, the prices are decent, and in some cases almost throw-back. Service is above average, and the coffee cup is never empty long, which is rule one of the diner game. Waitresses named "Jesse" and "Diane" were asked how many work shoes they went through in a year, they looked at each other and simultaneously said "5". That pretty much tells you all ya need to know. Place was recommended to me by a friend, so I'm paying it forward...enjoy. read more

The food is so good with solid portions, the service is always top notch, and reasonable prices. Our favorite diner in the area.

The diner is very clean, the food was very good and our waitress was what a waitress should be, personable and attentive.

The tuna melt was fantastic. Even the coleslaw was delicious. The fries are good just not the style that I like. read more

No pictures. Hubs and I are traveling with a three year old!! This is simple, good food. We came here after we landed at Scranton airport and the servers were all friendly. The food was good too. My husband ordered a cheesesteak and I ordered a porketta sandwich. He had birch beer and our granddaughter tried that for the first time. She loved it. Good place for a simple meal. read more

The diner always has good food no matter what you order. Not a bad meal there .We get online orders many times.

Stopped for breakfast on our way out of town. Parking lot was packed but we got seated right away. Fresh, strong coffee. Breakfast potatoes were bland. Just cooked potatoes. Would try hash-browns next time. Country fried steak was good. Sausage gravy was very good!! Hubs said the scrapple was great. His french toast was tasty, except for the black charred food from grill stuck to it :(. Service was fast and friendly. Would try them again if we are in town. read more

Big menu, Food is excellent. Only negative part is if you order hot food to go it sticks to the Styrofoam container, they don't use foil or anything in between your hot food and the Styrofoam. read more

Food is pretty good, and at very competitive prices. Service is good, the place is small but has a 70's look to it that will make you feel like you are back in time. read more

Went there for breakfast. Nothing over the top. The omelette had the taste of everything else that was cooked on the grill. Not the worst I had, but not going out of my way to visit again. Sorry. read more

Our family loves to try diners, but sometimes they can be a hit or miss! Well, Pittston Diner was a bit hit! We were seated immediately, and the wait staff was exceptional! (Not just our waitress - we could see the others, all with smiles and lotsa hustle, too!) The Greek Omelet not only looked great but tasted great too! And the Special with sausage patties and gravy sausage on top was so good they ran out of Croissants, but was so good on a bagel, that I can't wait to go back and try it on a croissant! The sausage wasn't grisly like in some restaurants. And the Caprese potatoes with onions and peppers were cooked perfectly - not overdone at all but nice and soft. This place is definitely worth a stop if you love breakfast! read more

Pittston Diner is a local staple that offers wholesome homegrown food to its customers. If you like a good meal for very little money this is the place to go. The service is very good and the ambience is that of a 50s Diner I'm sure you will be pleased. read more

Extremely cheap! I got the Egg's Benedict and it wasn't as I hoped it was but to each their own. My boyfriend got an omelette and it was delicious. The service was amazing! I mean they are so sweet in there, very nice and treats every customer well. The ambiance is nice since it's older diner style, it's the traditional booths and tables but it makes it nice. Also the bathroom was very clean, you typically don't see that but it was nice and smelled good when I went. Will probably come again. read more

Ran across this place yesterday for breakfast. It was pretty tasty!! Wait staff was talkitive and friendly. No " just an order taker"! Even tho we were not regulars. I had the Eggs Bene and Bf had special that came with a cocktail, mimosa and the kielbasa omelete. We both tried the potato casserole is was ok. Mushy potatoes. Service was great and plentiful coffee. read more

The food is great but observations on how they treat other customers are appalling. There seems to be racist attitudes towards Blacks and Hispanics. I don't mind going to this diner but treat ALL races and ethnicities the same!! It is uncomfortable to observe preferential treatment as others are treated poorly. Management you need to do better! A disappointed recurring (?) customer .. read more

Solid choice for any meal, staff is excellent as is the food. I've been a customer for some time and always leave please.

Pittston Diner is an excellent local diner that is clean, serves up well made comfort food that brought to your table, booth or diner counter by a very friendly staff. Diner classics like club sandwiches, meatloaf with homemade mashed potatoes, and even liver with onions and bacon are on the menu. But they also have great breakfasts, local favorites like porketta and pigs in the blanket, and big slices of pie for desert. read more

I was a little Leary by the outside of the place but was pleasantly surprised. Chicken francais, baked sweet potato , pickled beets and fresh Italian bread. Very delicious! Only $10.95 Very clean inside. Comfortable seating and pleasant waitstaff . The only thing I did not like was the funky iced tea. Did not get a chance to try the desserts, but they sounded great. read more

Stopped in early Sunday morning when many places were closed. I had eaten there 3 or 4 times previously and knew that I would not regret taking my wife and a friend there for breakfast. The only surprise was when the check arrived and it was so reasonable that we had to check to be sure nothing had been missed. It was correct. Our food was basic, bacon & eggs, ham & eggs etc. Nothing exotic. But when I am used to paying $30 and my bill is less than $20 I had to look twice. Good food, good service and good prices. I will go back and I am sure my friend will also. read more

Great customer service, friendly staff, delicious food and reasonable prices. Honestly, you can't beat it. One of my favorite restaurants!

This place was a horrible experience. We get there and the male waiter took our order about 10 minutes after we sat down same thing with drinks. My friend ordered and he didn't want something and the waiter basically snarked at him for getting something wrong when ordering. Then he would give us dirty looks every so often. Horrible experience read more

One surprise after another. Free booze?! That's right. My breakfast came with a complimentary mimosa! It was Cinco de Mayo, so I rolled the dice with the quesadilla special. It was amazing. The portion was huge. I had to box some of it. Some lady was complaining that her potatoes were cold, but I'm pretty sure she was just being difficult. read more

Was back in the area and stopped here again for breakfast. Will not be back. Service was absolutely terrible, had to wait for everything for an unreasonable amount of time. Never even got the toast with our omelettes and getting a coffee refill was next to impossible. read more

This place is aces. My wife and I head down here from time to time for breakfast when she is not working weekends. I have yet to be disappointed. The service is always good, as is the food. Don't believe me? Head down on a Sunday morning for breakfast after the 8 and 9 a.m. mass lets out. You'll be waiting for a seat. But fret not, there is usually a seat or two at the counter. I prefer the counter myself. I feel like my coffee stays a little warmer that way. I normally get one of their great breakfast specials. Yesterday however I opted for a standard Philly Cheese Steak omelet, and it was great. I also got myself their hash brown casserole to go along with it and, yes, I ate it all! They are now offering a free mimosa or spiked coffee for the 21 and over crowd with the purchase of a breakfast special. That was a nice little add on to me. I didn't get it yesterday, but two weeks ago, I sipped a spiked coffee while my wife enjoyed her mimosa. As for lunch, well I can only comment on the once or twice I was there. I got my standard Diner fair of a burger and fries. And I have no complaints about that meal of food. I did get a cup of chili last go around and that was very tasty. If you are looking for quick good food, don't be shy, head on over. It is deceivingly small looking from the outside, but the Pittston Diner has a descent size dinning room. You can find me and my wife there once or twice a month for a great breakfast. There isn't much way to make this a flowery funny review. It's simply a good place to get some grub. read more

We had a large group here (20 people), and they knew well in advance we'd be coming. Based on the layout of this place, they couldn't put tables together, but they sat us at several adjacent tables. Well, after a bit where they slowly cleared out other diners from the section. Honestly, they ought to have said they can't really accommodate our group. We made it work, but there was a lot of people-shuffling. First impression was also not great. Waitress asked if I wanted anything to drink. I said "I need to take a look" and before I could even add, "but may I have a water?" she turned away and moved on. Then she came around with other people's drinks, and I asked if I could have one of the waters on the tray, and she said no, I had to wait. Seriously, I'm not asking for someone else's ordered soda. It's just water. Everyone should get water. Then she brought my water without lemon. I had to ask for the lemon. She came back and brought just one. I went back and quietly explained to her about this first impression, because I was quietly seething and did not want to disrupt the afternoon if anything else went wrong. Things did improve after that. I got the country-fried steak and egg breakfast with orange juice. The OJ didn't have a lot of flavor, and I couldn't tell if it was fresh or not. I have doubts, but it wasn't mechanical-tasting and it did have pulpy bits. The sausage gravy was very flavorful and the steak was nicely breaded. The rest of the dish (eggs, possibly bacon or some other meat?) held up well. I wouldn't bother coming back, but I'm not a diner person in general. The review could have gone worse. The food alone might have won 4 stars, but this review is for the whole experience. Also worth noting that though this place fronts on US 11, you can't get here from there. Parking on the old road is rather limited, and I ended up across the street at a big barn/warehouse. read more

I eat at this diner regularly. The food is always good and their prices are reasonable. Their breakfasts are great, and I love their breakfast potatoes. Their dinner specials usually come with a complimentary glass of wine. I've never had a bad meal there, and rarely have a problem with service. I used be to completely addicted to their Chicken Parmesan, but some time ago, they changed their tomato sauce, and it just isn't the same. It's still very good, just not as awesome as it was before. read more

I've been going here regularly on Sundays and their breakfasts are very good. I highly recommend the country omelette and cheesy hashbrown casserole. Their hollandaise sauce is the best I've ever had. It states no delivery, but they will deliver locally during lunch hours. read more

Our first time going to the Pittston Diner. It was a Saturday around 1pm. My boyfriend really wanted breakfast, but I didn't so we figured most diners offer all day breakfast. When we arrived all they had out were the lunch/dinner menus so needless to say, my boyfriend was really disappointed. We were seated right away. The place is a lot bigger inside that what we had expected and also seems to be well taken care of. Nothing appeared dirty. Our server was friendly and came right over to take our drink order and then came back for our meal order. I had a grilled cheese on sourdough bread w/fries (it also came with a few pickle slices and a small side of coleslaw). My boyfriend had an open faced roast beef sandwich w/coleslaw and a side of fries w/melted american cheese and gravy (they asked what kind of cheese he wanted on the fries because the processed cheese is also an option). The only downsides were: my boyfriend immediately found a hair on his food and the server didn't come back to check on us or to see if we needed napkins or anything else until we were almost done (I could have used more napkins and ketchup since the bottle on the table was nearly empty when we were seated). Our bill only came a little under $20, which was terrific because we left stuffed. We'll go back some time and try it again. Hopefully without the extra piece of hair in any of the food! read more

Usually this place is pretty good but tonight not so much. We got there at 8. My wife orders coffee but no creamer on table. When asked the male waiter says it may have been removed because we close in a half an hour. That was odd. Door states 9 not 830. Then dinner came. My wife ordered a hamburger well done but it was rare. Once brought to the attention of the waiter he asked if we want fresh or taken off the check. My wife chose not to bother seeing this place is closing at 830 not 9. We felt rushed. Once the check came we were told the burger was off the bill but not the fries we ordered with it. No extra items taken off or any discounts for the lack of a dinner. Like I said usually good but not tonight. read more

The service was awful. The waitress gathered at the counter to gossip and did not service the customers. No refills! Oh please don't ask them a question about the menu ( they don't know). One of my favorite places to go! I like their food. I usually get the special soup and then a blt or something of that sort. I really like their breakfast as well they make pretty good pancakes. The servers are always super friendly. A cute local diner to head to for the beginning or end of your day. The service is super quick even on busy days, and the pricing is just right! read more

Diners are usually known for being a quick stop for breakfast... this is definitely true in the case of the Pittston Diner but shockingly it is breakfast and so much more! Whether it is breakfast, lunch, dinner or takeout catering the Pittston Diner is leagues above standard! Its very obvious the diner employs a professional staff all around. The building is spotless, the waitstaff polite and attentive and the kitchen staff... WOW! The diner is not afraid to take chances in the kitchen as is evident by the weekly specials which have never ceased to amaze us. If you want amazing food for both breakfast and beyond at a price that by today's standards is an absolute value for what you receive then give the Pittston Diner a try! read more
