Dunmore PA is not the easiest place to navigate or eat. Apparently Yelp! has not permitted the greater Scranton area, because most of the restaurants only have a few reviews. And Dunmore Diner had none... After wandering around trying to find another place, I stumbled in here. I am not sure if it has changed ownership or its name, but somehow someone should have reviewed this place! It is a kind of throwback... a cross between a real diner and a small-town home cooking joint where a guy named Joe makes some locally famous stew. In any case, the menu is enormous and reminds me of a Long Island diner where they literally cook everything. The Dunmore has a full range of salads, gyro's, hamburgers, open face sandwiches, triple deckers, spaghetti and almost anything else you can imagine. I bet if you asked, they'd make anything for you. I had an open-face turkey, and it was good. It was real turkey breast which looked to be made from one of those breasts you can buy to roast without getting the whole bird. Basic gravy on white bread, and real mashed potatoes. It came with soup, which was Italian Wedding. There were quite a few soup choices. It hit the spot. The plate was more than I could eat, even after a day of skiing. The service was great, and everyone was friendly. One thing I liked were the photos of the food in the menu--another LI influence. It helped me decide what I wanted, and help navigate the choices for the kids. My son had spaghetti and meatballs and ate a huge plate full. Good diner food, and very reasonably priced.

Two omelets with home fries, rye toast and coffee

We got a sausage & cheese omelet and a ham & cheese omelet, with rye toast, and crispy home fries, plus coffee. Nice size portions very good price, service was excellent. Definitely a great place for breakfast, will try it for lunch soon.

Dunno why the picture is sideways. Stopped on the way home from Scranton. Hangover cure. Small town diner vibes for sure.

Hearty servings. Jovial service. Best steak and eggs in Dunmore. Bright atmosphere. A diner for diners.

We had to eat and decided to give this place a try. Nice, comfortable place with friendly staff. As you are waiting to be seated, you are tempted by a cold case with lots of homemade sweet goodies. I was hungry and wanted to try everything. Hubby wasn't that hungry, but he still ordered something. We started with a mixed munchies plate. This came with chicken strips, fried mozzarella sticks, and pierogies, with a side of marinara sauce. They had four daily soups. They all sounded really good. I had chicken and orzo, and my husband had cream of chicken (I think). The soups were amazing. It had big chunks of white meat chicken. I really wanted some beer-battered fish and chips. I was told the regular cod fish and chips were not beer-battered, and only the haddock was beer-battered. I opted for the haddock with French fries and corn. Hubby ordered Philly cheesesteak flatbread. The mixed munchies were good. I don't think I have had deep-fried pierogies. I think I prefer the steamed ones. But these had a good flavor. The haddock was huge. I sent a picture to my kids, and they commented that only the head and tail were missing. . . lol. . . I hardly ate any fries, but hubby said they were crispy, hot, and tasty. Hubby got his flatbread to go, and we ordered a strawberry shortbread cake to go. We had some of the cake as a late-night snack. It was okay, but I don't think I would get it again. I was thankful that hubby wasn't being "tight" today. I didn't even have to ask him to be generous with a tip. He said, "It's Mother's Day, and she's working". Sorry, forgot to snap a pick of the philly and the cake.
