I came in around 4 and it seemed like it was about to get busy and bustling and it did, but service was fast and attentive. No small talk this time, which is fine for this New Yorker. I love their salads so it hit the spot and the portion is huge. Could def share! There's two dining rooms and counter seats. There is outdoor seating but it was a humid day so, ew. We were traveling to NY, stopped here for breakfast. The servers and staff were very attentive thus the 2 stars but the food was bland. The vanilla french toast had no flavor to it, my man did not like it at all and also his bacon was really greasy. The banana french toast with cornflakes, was bland also...would have probably tasted good if they grilled the bananas to caramelize it, used frosted flakes and seasoned the batter they used for the french toast. Giving it 2 stars only because our server was excellent and the establishment was very clean but the food was horribly bland. read more

This is a local icon restaurant. I grew up in the area and I always eat here when I come home. It's a family owned business that's been around for what seems forever. It's casual and you almost always see the patrons visiting with each other. The food is typical, small town. I have never had a bad item here. Some of the things you should try is there house salad dressing, the rice pudding and the pies. They also make a good Italian sauce, so their pasta dishes are tasty. This time I had the quiche. I'll start with the good. I got the "Thanksgiving Day" sandwich and it was awesome. The definition of comfort food. The waitress was nice, even when the restaurant was a little hectic. Now the not so good. The older hostess who took our seating number when we walked in was beyond unpleasant and borderline rude. When another party walked in after us she greeted them with, "I'm going to need a minute." Then when we were going up to the counter to pay, she was looking at her phone for a solid fifteen seconds before even looking up at me to take my card. Within 10 seconds of entering Agolino's, I was treated like family. We came for brunch and our food was flavorful, hot, and generous portions...Their sausage is even better than most NYC brunch places. My omelette was big, fluffy and tasty and their coffee could give DD a run for its money. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the price for our meal was more than fair. Parking is a cinch and if you want a nice photo there's this classic steel bridge about 1/4 mile from the restaurant that has a nice view of the river and the valley. The staff was incredibly friendly, the interior was cozy and inviting, and the blueberry pancakes were soft, fluffy, and had REAL blueberries baked right in! I had a great time at Agolino's. I had pancakes, home fries, and corned hash. The hash was so savory. We will get two of them next time. The pancakes were classic northern style. We have been going to eat here for generations. A great place if you love soup. There soup is great. There breakfast and lunch is always so good. Our best meal has to be their homemade Pasties. Terrible experience was invited to a 70th birthday celebration that was booked in advance for 21 people. Arrived slow service finally ordered. Ten min after order server returned to say feature steak no longer existed. Reordered 10 min later server appeared to say no baked potato. What a joke of a restaurant. No communication between server and kitchen. All this on a sat eve. Sad is that you only have one 70th birthday celebration and unfortunately agolinos ruined it. Do not attempt to enter 35 minutes before closing. Wanting to have something light following an event, my family and I walked in at 8:25 on a Thursday evening. We were met with rude stares by several waitresses who were standing around doing nothing. There were about three tables still enjoying their meals. When I inquired if we were able to sit anywhere, one waitress called to another and said, "Get Lisa." (I'm going to guess "Lisa" was the manager?) Seconds later we were told that they were closed. I asked, "closed?" to which the lovely young waitress replied, "Yes. Umm...we close at 8:30 on Wednesdays...uh, I mean Thursdays." FYI, the hours posted on the door and online clearly state that they are open until 9 p.m. on Thursdays. I cannot comment on the food, unfortunately. I have to agree with another reviewer (James F.) here regarding the service. We've been here a few times over the years and most of the time the service was fine. The last time we were there, the waitress was cold, distant and seemed generally annoyed if we so much as asked for a coffee refill. Also, I think the food was better here years ago. This is suppose to be a family restaurant but they do not have any changing tables anywhere for you to change your baby. There is also no kids menu which I find odd since they are suppose to be a "family" friendly restaurant. There has been multiple times where the owner has made my table feel uncomfortable by staring at us and even walking over to our table because we were sitting at our table for too long and wanted us to leave so he could seat another party when we only just finished eating and just got our bill. If I am a paying customer I should not feel rushed out after I have eaten. The staff is for the most part friendly but the people behind the counter are rude and I've heard them say how much they "hate" and "can't stand" people. I came here with my husband upon the advice of one of his co-workers. I ordered the chicken Marsala and I can unabashedly say it was the BEST chicken Marsala I ever had!! The chicken was so tender and the Marsala sauce was exceptional! My husband ordered the veal parmigiana. It's his standard by which he judges all Italian restaurants!
