I was staying at a hotel in the area, I found this place on Google, and I decided to come in for breakfast. The place has a nice diner/coffee shop vibe. Even at 6:45 on a Sunday morning, there were already quite a few people in the restaurant. The place was spotless, and You know it's a good place, when the cop stops in to pick up his breakfast. I live in California, but whenever I am in PA? Scrapple and eggs! The eggs were done perfectly, and I liked that the potatoes came in little "coins". Not dense at all, they were actually puffy. Delicious. It's hard to describe the taste of scrapple. It's definitely an acquired taste. I've loved it from the very first time I tried it. The taste is a bit strong, so I always put a little bit of ketchup on top and it makes it just right. The scrapple here was rich and delicious. The coffee was good and they kept my cup full. The place is cash only, but they do have an ATM. A full breakfast and a coffee was extremely reasonable I like this place, and would come back. Thank you. read more

Cute little restaurant. Food was tasty. Here's the ick, they have tables that have "seams" in the table top. The seams are filled with filth, old food, grease & grime. I used the Yelp app to find Sweet Treet. I stopped in early on a cold, grey Sunday morning for breakfast. I was excited to try this place based on all of the good reviews. I sat at the bar and looked over the menu. I decided to order an omelette. I asked the lady what they cooked their omelettes in - because of my diet - I prefer to have my eggs cooked in either butter or Coconut oil. I was told no butter - and that they used some product called "Whirl." She could not tell me what was in Whirl. I had to research it later to figure out what it is. Which turns out to be some vegetable oil (polyunsaturated - sunflower-based oil) - which is something I am trying to avoid due to issues with Omega 6 and cardiovascular system inflammation. So I ordered a Mushroom-Cheese omelette and a side of bacon - low carb (meaning no toast or bread and no breakfast potatoes). Plus a cup of coffee. The omelette came out, I asked for some hot sauce. A squeeze bottle was brought out to me with a very orange looking contents. I doused my omelette with hot sauce and black pepper as I normally do - and was immediately turned off. It was unlike any hot sauce I have ever tasted. I asked for something else and was told this is their famous house made hot sauce - that all the little kids love it. Well I guess so - I have no idea what was in this - but it had a ton of sugar in it. The omelette was made with canned mushrooms, and the cheese, well I am not sure what it was. It was either a cheese product similar to Cheez Wiz in flavor and texture, or some sort of American cheese product. It made for a lousy omelette. The omelette itself was well executed in terms of its structure, just tasted unpleasant. The coffee was pretty good for diner coffee, and the bacon was really good. I went to pay my bill and I was asked about how my meal was. My first comment was about the hot sauce and that I would have preferred something else. I did not get a chance to finish my comment as they woman at the register immediately started defending their hot sauce, going on about how much everyone local loves it. I stated to her I was not saying that they replace their beloved hot sauce, just that they offer an option for those of us that don't love gobs of sugar in their hot sauce. How hard is it to keep a couple of bottles of Franks or something else? At that point I was not even going to mention the omelette itself - it was clear that she really did not want to know what I thought of my meal, and was going to defend everything they did. Service was prompt. It would probably be safer to only order fried eggs and bacon. Beware the orange hot sauce! read more

Quite a few regulars, so I enjoyed my breakfast while listening to them talking about which lottery tickets that they'd be buying and what they would do about the winnings. It was a little silly. I went with the ham and cheese omelet which was cooked and presented very quickly. It comes with their own cottage fries, which have their own special salt and spicy mix added. The omelet was good, the toast was good, the fries were okay. And then I found out that they only accept cash. Oops. Fortunately, they let me escape with only $8 paid on my $8.75 breakfast. I came back the next day, had exactly the same experience with the regulars and the food, but this time I had enough cash to pay for yesterday's shortfall and today's breakfast. I ordered two Plain Bagels with Bacon, Egg, and Cheese...Salt, Pepper, Ketchup & a tall can of Arizona tea to go. The food was made on the spot and took about 5 minutes to be ready in a brown bag with napkins and ketchup packets to go. The Bagels were fresh, Hot and tasted delicious. The only reason it's getting a 2 is because my gfs "all American breakfast bowl" was good. I had a normal ham tomato and cheese omelette. It was ICE COLD. I hate sending food back and I don't think it would of done much more. The cheese wasn't really melted. The check was also stuffed under my "cottage fries". The waitresses carried plates on top of your food. I dk if I have ever seen that before. So if you are with three people on plate will be resting on someone else's pancakes... Coffee was sub par... Only plain sugar and milk.... They never explain what "cottage fries" are on the menu. It's like lil frozen potato slices with old bay on them. I thought they were home fries. I recommend not going here but if you do get the All American bowl. It stayed hot until she finished. Btw the lady next to me was hacking up a lung... So it's not a very clean place! read more

This is an excellent place to get breakfast with a couple of your friends! I go to the local University and this is by far the best value dining facility I have ever been to. I have never had a bad experience at Sweet Treet and will continue to have weekend breakfasts there. Fair reminder that they ONLY take cash. There is a CVS and Walgreens that are directly across the street, just in case you make the beginner mistake (like I did). read more

Not a bad place to get breakfast. I had an omelet it was sizable and came with toast and a generous helping of fries. Good diner food. They were a little busy, so taking that into account the wait from sit down to my order being taken wasn't too bad. The gentleman who came after and ordered after me got his food first. I couldn't say with certainty if this was because they put his order on first or if mine was just a longer cook time. But he was clearly a regular. If they simply fired his order prior to mine because he's a regular it's not a good way to encourage new regulars, especially since folks who choose this type of establishment for a meal might tend to be in need of a quick turnaround between seating and getting on with their day. Despite that one potential caveat the time from order to drop was still pretty decent. The waitress felt the need to qualify that the hot-sauce wasn't exactly hot after asking if I would like to try it. I think she should have let it speak for itself. Certainly it's not for those looking for the ultimate fire sauce (I have a few favorites myself) but it did have a nice flavor. No need for them to self deprecate on that account. Parking was available, but not so much out front and unless you are a local it's pretty hard to find the lot you're supposed to be in to go here, so maybe a sign might help draw in more traffic. The one will come by your table and reach over your food while saying nothing to refill jelly packets that clearly doesn't need refilling and never say a word. I had previously had some ok experiences at this restaurant, but my dining experience today was legitimately one of the worst I have ever experienced. I went to get breakfast with a friend, and we did have our orders taken quickly. That is where our service came to an end though. Through out the meal, a waitress only came to deliver food to my table. Despite the fact that their glasses were glorified Dixie cups, the waitresses never once tried to refill my water, even when I specifically asked if I could have more water. My friend tries to wait for a waitress so that he could ask for hotsauce, but, after 5 minutes, he decided to just go to the counter and ask for it. The food was unspectacular, but it is the only reason this review has any stars. The service was appalling and deserved negative stars. It was like I was hassling them by wanting adequate service. I have never before left a restaurant without leaving a tip until today, but those ladies earned their 0 cents. I will probably never be returning to this restaurant after this experience. I could have made my own food for half the cost, it would have tasted better, and I would have had to deal with absolutely terrible service. The shop was busy, but that is no excuse for this complete failure on the staff. Whoever the two older waitresses were don't deserve to work in the service industry. They were constantly miserable and gave service that was so bad that I had to actually write about it. This restaurant is only for cheap food. If you want any quality, go somewhere else. In the end, that is the word to describe this entire experience. CHEAP. Edit: I was going to originally give 2 stars, but this was truly a one star experience.
