Tammy's Kitchen in Luzerne is the go-to spot for comfort food and hearty dishes. Over time, I've shared plenty of their delicious offerings, from satisfying breakfasts to mouthwatering dinners, with burgers in between. Their soups are perfect for warming up on a cold day, and today's feature is my review of Tammy's wimpy. I started with a cup of their homemade piggy soup--hot, flavorful, and packed with meat, cabbage, rice, and all the good stuff. The wimpy came with a generous side of fresh-cut fries, thick, perfectly cooked, and tasty whether plain or lightly salted. The main event, the wimpy sandwich, was served on a toasted roll and loaded with meat, celery, and a hint of onion. Every bite was full of flavor, and I'm glad I ordered it. We love visiting Tammy's Kitchen (or the fish restaurant if you're a toddler) when we travel from NH to VA twice a year! The food is great and well priced. Note that there is a 3.5% credit card fee, so I'd encourage cash. This last trip I had Nutella French toast but I've had eggs, omelettes and most everything else. They have a nice little play area with a toy kitchen where my kiddos spent their time waiting for food. If you love homemade soup, step right up! Italian wedding and Beef vegetable are to die for...you want to order more, but you have a dinner/sandwich coming. Many seats were added since last ownership, causing overcrowding issue and inability to service in reasonable time. One order was finally taken, waited just about an hour to get the food. Food was fine for a diner, but some potatoes were still hard and some of overcooked. Might be fine really early during the week but too much seating to service on weekends during busy period. read more

As a southern girl born and raised Tammy's kitchen felt like a little piece of home in PA. We instantly fell in love with this place. Tammy is a truly amazing woman she makes sure no matter how many times you visit to make sure she personally walks to every table to see how you are doing and if you are enjoying your food ( FYI IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE WITH IT MAKE SURE TO LET HER KNOW) if you have an issue she is immediately no questions asked fixing it. The food is AMAZING. The food is all home made recipes from scratch made by Tammy herself. I have NEVER had a bad meal. The pumpkin French toast is out of this world. Took a long time to be asked if we needed something to drink, then took even longer to get the food. Then some of our order took longer. The food was so so. Prices are a little high. Pancakes were not too good. Hash browns were not too good either. Toast was very hard. We came and saw, but was not great! Maybe the lunch specials would have been better. We had to drive to Kingston for an appointment, and we were pretty hungry afterward and looking for someplace local that we had not tried before. Enter yelp. We were about 10 minutes from this five * Breakfast spot, and by the looks of it on the outside, I never would've even noticed it, or thought to pull in here, if I had. Thanks to the wonderful reviews we put it in the GPS and headed right there. Everything we had was absolutely outstanding. My eggs, sausage and home fries were incredible, as well as my waffle. We visited here on a Sunday morning. Such a cute and quaint little place! If this is your first time here, prepare your taste buds, as Tammy will bring you a complimentary delicious homemade waffle! I ordered eggs over easy (they were perfectly cooked), two pancakes (these are thick and delicious--had to take them to go!), home fries (some of the best in the valley--well seasoned), wheat toast and scrapple. We were in town for a game at one of the colleges near by and saw the reviews online and decided to give this local place a try. We are so glad we stopped and will visit again when we are back in the area. We ordered the waffle with peanut butter crème and a bacon and egg wrap. The waffle was amazing. The staff was super friendly and I believe the owner came out to ask everyone if they liked their meals. It was a great experience. Then to top it off they had about six homemade soups available. After a weekend away at a lovely bed and breakfast in Wilkes Barre, we were looking for a simple lunch spot before we headed home. Tammy's was the only "diner" open at the time, and it had a surprising number of stars, so we went out of our way to try it out. What a great idea that was! The service was good, fast, and friendly, they had thick plastic between the booths to help with social distancing, and when the food arrived it was beautiful and delicious. We had just started eating - my husband's perfectly crispy fried fish, and my delectable Monte Crisco with homemade raspberry sauce. . . when Tammy came from the kitchen with a plate. "Hi, I'm Tammy - I'd like you to try my zucchini potato pancakes. Welcome!" Another perfect item - crispy, not too oily - lovely seasoning. Then just when we didn't think anything could get better, she said, "Wait - this is your first time? You get a complimentary waffle." (Don't worry - we took a box and two containers home) When the waffle arrived, she said, in no uncertain terms, "And don't put any syrup on it" I'm definitely ordering those superb waffles next time I go.
