What a fun classic diner situated in one of those towns where you wonder what was it like once upon a time. This was a breakfast road trip stop that provided comfort and good food that filled the bellies along with some excellent coffee. And, the waitress joined in the morning conversation as if we were regulars! Four tasty strips of Turkey bacon went along with eggs done just right. Our waitress informed us of a few options that they were out of (One was my first choice but that was ok.). The prices were last century inexpensive and I have a feeling I will make the exit again in the future for the White Haven Family Diner. read more

This is a little gem. I tried this place because my nephew recommended it. Breakfast was very good. The ambience says DINER!! It quaint and small but delivers a punch. Everyone - there was 4 of us - really enjoyed it. The portions are good. My nephew swears by the smash burger they serve. The ambience also screams turn of the century diner. The servers are old school so they say "honey" and "sweetie". If that upsets you go somewhere else!! There's plenty of parking. ENJOY!! read more

Stopped by here on a road trip, and I was pleasantly surprised! We were greeted with a classic diner environment with booths and counter seating. The lady working the counter was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The portion sizes for food were also generous, and it tasted good! The options for food are pretty standard for an American diner, but it hit the spot! The prices are also very reasonable! Of note, this place is cash only. read more

Hidden gem in the Poconos. We stopped here after visiting the Boulder Field and Hawk Falls. Service was friendly and there were a nice variety of options. This place is a hidden gem in the poconos! There's so few options up there, it's nice to find one that also had good food. Tiny little old school diner w a counter and some tables. I would suggest like 4 ppl or smaller for party size. We each had the cheese burger w fried onions it was massive! The size of the plate! And inexpensive! Loved it. Ate the whole thing. I've been eating breakfast here since I was a kid, and it always takes me back in time. Cozy booths with stained glass dividers, classic diner counter seating, and 70's radio playing Casey Kasem's American Top 40 countdown. They bring you a little carafe of extra coffee so you never run low. The place is clean and friendly. Portion size is large - like two slices of thick toast. Long wait on a Saturday morning. Cash only establishment to the disadvantage of non-locals. Long wait for service. Food wise, the French toast wasn't soaked through before cooking, and my guests Western omelette had undercooked peppers. Drive 10 more miles and give this place a miss! read more

Came in for a late breakfast, and there was a long wait crammed in the tiny foyer even though there were clearly MANY open tables. Sat for over twenty minutes. Once we sat down to order, our very gruff waitress announced they stopped serving breakfast a few minutes ago (it was only an hour or so before closing so...why?) So we had sat there 20 minutes with the potential to have been seated and served only to be told we can't get breakfast because of their mistake. We were forced to get lunch but the menu was limited and I had my heart set on diner breakfast. I got a soup and sandwich which were basically inedible. Waitresses were rude, and the place was really dingy. No thank you. read more

I have no idea what happened. We used to eat here regularly when we lived here before. 86-96. Now, we have tried, at least 4 times, every time it was bad. Once I ordered an omelette that was gross... it was all filling with a tissue paper thin coating of cooked dry egg around it. Half of the home fries are inedible hard dry burnt pieces of what was at one point home fries. It would be amazing if there was any level of care and the place improved, until I hear different, I can't spend any more money there. read more

I have been going to this diner my entire life (over 50 years). Not one bad breakfast ever. The servers will treat you as you are treated, so is you're a jerk, maybe IHOP is for you. The Spanish omelette and Habbersett scrapple are my "go to," but have had many other breakfasts. Never bad. There is often a wait and it's a train car diner, so be advised that you will likely have to wait outside. This is White Haven, Pennsylvania, so technology is still 1985. There is no beeper or text message to tell you your table is ready, so be prepared to stand nearby outside. Also, this is cash only. There are signs on both external entrances and on the internal door and on the menu, yet it's amazing how many people are surprised by this after eating and being unable to pay their bill. The bank across the street closed, so the nearest is an old style ATM at the corner across the street. Go there first and be patient with the dial-up ATM. (I'm not making this up). If you're in White Haven and don't like rustic and old school, you may have accidentally got off the wrong exit from I-80. But if you're willing to dial it down a bit, the White Haven diner is good people, good food, and a good time. read more

The food is amazing. Best pancakes I have ever eaten. Also the burger is the size of a frisbee, and delicious, the fries were plentiful and crisp. In fact they stayed crispy all the way home, which was like a 10 min drive. The chicken finger basket was also amazing, those crispy fries and crispy succulent white meat chicken fingers. Overall, the food is great, and the service is wonderful read more

This place is amazing! You owe it to yourself to order a cheeseburger. What will you we will receive is mostly beef with a really good sesame seed bun. I swear it must be over a half a pound of beef! We just got done at the Hickory Run State Park and wanted to grab a quick bite to it. Because we brought our dog with us, we needed a place that caters to take out fast. This place had lots of great reviews on Yelp so go figure. Luckily to my surprise, this place does not disappoint. I could tell it is family owned and by the use of the restroom and overall facility, they kept it in very clean condition. Now onto the food, I ordered a cheeseburger and wow, the size of the patty is outrageous. I never seen it that big before. Just goes to show you that it is cooked to order which I love to see from diners. The patty was extremely tasty. My wife got the omelette which she thought was so so. My son got the grilled cheese sandwich which he gave thumbs up. One last thing, this place is extremely affordable. My cheeseburger only costed about 7 bucks. This is a family gem and highly recommended. read more

Great stop if you are riding the Full Monty Bike Ride from Glen Summit to Jim Thorpe. Update: I have tried the monster burger, it's the size of the plate. Also have been in for breakfast again. Positive was a throw back diner from the past; clean and cozy. Negatives were not so friendly treatment towards my husband and I (bi-racial couple). We heard waitresses around us being friendly and polite to the other diners. By the way blueberry pancakes should have fresh blueberries and not that compote stuff which was sugary and awful. We were just passing through because our favorite spot Chat and Chew was closed. Food there is excellent and waitresses very friendly. White Haven Diner you should be kinder to ALL people. If you are in the Pocono's and just want a quiet, friendly, and simple diner, you gotta come here. It's like being home, everyone knows each other, waitresses know there stuff, and will make your visit , (I will be back!). Believe me when I say, you won't leave hungry. It's humorous when a new person orders a couple of cheeseburgers with fries , the waitress will say let's start with one, the patron gets mad but when the burger comes, it's OMG! Regular coffee is weak chipped beef was cold sent it back and they switched the meals around cause didn't even eat my potatoes I had ketchup on my plate w pepper and all they had to do is reheat it and it came back w/o my original food on it Sent it all back Ordered the hamburger e lettuce tomato and onion This was awesome read more

Had a delightful breakfast on Sunday. People who come here are very friendly as are the waitresses. Food is standard diner fair but high quality and good portions. We just had omelets with sides of potatoes. Not greasy at all. Coffee came in self pouring jars. My decaf was fresh brewed. Prices reasonable too. Very clean and parking is convenient. Diner is next to Lehigh trail. Tax and tip for two less than $20. We'll be back. read more

It's a little distance from where I live but the ride and scenery are beautiful and you will really enjoy yourself. The is a very comfortable place to sit and talk. It's a lovely rustic vibe. The food is very good. There were eight of us and I think we all had different items ranging from a BLT to broiled salmon. We had driven past the diner several times on previous visits to the area, but had never visited before. We decided to give them a try. It seemed like a classic American diner that you could find just about anywhere. There's no website, no social media accounts, just good old-fashioned diner staples. The staff were friendly and accommodating and they seated us at a booth. A go-to dish that my wife and I both like to get at classic diners is a Greek salad, and Mountainhome Diner's "Big Fat Greek Salad" (chopped iceberg lettuce, crumbled feta, olives, tomato, onions, peppers, grape leaves, house Greek vinegar) sounded like it was just what we were looking for. I ordered mine with gyro while my wife ordered hers with chicken. Those salads really hit the spot! For our sons, we looked to the Kids Menu. Our older son had the "Hot Dog with French fries" while our younger son had the "Chicken Fingers with French fries". They were both very happy with their dishes. We had a nice time at Mountainhome Diner and we're happy that we finally stopped in. We recommend them to anyone visiting the area!
