Found this place by accident while riding the bike trail. We were looking for some breakfast. Only about 25 seats and most of those were at the counter. There were four of us and there were only four seats available but they were single seats here and there. People just automatically moved down the counter so that we could all sit together! A mother and her two daughters run the place and do all the cooking and food prep right in front of you! The breakfast was fresh and great! They talked to us like we were regulars and gave us the history of the small restaurant. This is a mom and pop restaurant and was awesome! read more

GREAT BREAKFAST SPOT! Popped into this diner based off of a few Yelp/Google reviews, and it was so worth it! Delicious meal, piping hot, right off the griddle. Reasonably priced and an authentic small town experience. Few things to know that we learned! 1. This is a small diner, essentially bar space only! Sit on your coat at your bar stool! The locals dining next to us said it gets crowded on the weekend, so best bet would be during the week, especially if you have more than two people in your party. 2. As most places right now, prices have increased from the last picture of the menu I saw on reviews. My husband and I each got the two egg breakfast with home fries (w/ onions, highly recommended!) and meat, and our bill was $20. The meal also came with toast! Average price for diners right now, and well worth it! 3. We didn't get it, but my husband almost immediately regretted not getting "The Mess." First off This place is literally a hole in the wall about 14 seats at the bar setup. The workers behind the bar are super helpful. The locals are here early for breakfast and None are talking because they are loving the food. The food is the standard breakfast you get anywhere else but here is the place to enjoy breakfast and be on your way. The Grandmother owns the restaurant and was having breakfast at the counter when we arrived. The lovely and kind granddaughter hosted and waitressed. While her mom expertly worked the grill. Great scrapple, great sausage, great omelets and THE WORLD'S BEST HOMEFRIES!!! There were bowls of uncooked spuds waiting for their opportunity to be turned into the most wonderful mixture of crispy and tender homefries. I had onion in mine, a dash of salt ( they're served sans salt for the heart healthy) they were amazing. Service was astoundingly fast, the conversation was wonderful. Be prepared to want to come back daily for a spectacular beginning to your morning. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so do it right. FINALLY!!! I have been searching for a good place to eat breakfast in the Jimm Thorpe area for years, sometimes you can get lucky and maybe get a couple of eggs cooked right with some toast that is fresh and tasty but home fries and meat seem to always be an impossibility, old gross and nasty in every place I tried. Until now, Central Lunch uses all fresh ingredients freshly bought and made daily. They are a family run business using mom's recipes with respect to making them as tasty as possible. The service is very friendly and inviting, this is a place you want to go on the regular. The food is good, honestly prepared & cooked, and served quickly. They have daily specials as well. Some of their regulars were bragging up the haddock special on Fridays so next time I have off on a Friday, I may have to give it a try. Here is the essential information: Monday thru Friday 5:30 am - 2:00 pm Saturday & Sunday 6:00 am - 1:00 pm They have one table that seats 2. They have 14-15 counter seats. It stinks this place is so small, especially in the morning when many usuals will be in the restaurant. I have only eaten here for breakfast, twice, but its more than worth it. They have great thick cut bacon and french toast that I cant pass up. Serve local dairy milk and tea (Zimmermans). Great prices and great food, i wouldnt expect anything but pretty darn good lunch food too. The biggest knock on the place is that its just so small, but its a great local secret! Since it is so small and all the seats are at a counter, i would probably not suggest taking children unless you feel comfortable with it. read more

This is probably the smallest place I have ever eaten but it was a great stop, simple breakfast foods made with care. The place is the size of a shoe box so be careful you don't drive past, parking is across the street between the locals pickups. I had the mess with bacon at the suggestion of the server, who is the granddaughter of the owner. The bacon was outstanding although I am sure the sausage would have been as well. It only took a matter of minutes to get the meal and it was outstanding. Service was great and the local vibe was awesome coming from a big city. They will be talking about the folks in from Seattle, WA for a while I'm sure. I was advised by the mom of our server that the fish fry in Friday's is not to be missed but we were out of town by then. read more
