My daughter Maddie and I have been here twice this past month by ourselves and raved about it until we had an opportunity to bring Melissa to experience the great food at the People's Kitchen. She had the croissant French toast and I had the special which was a sausage patty, grilled onions, arugula, egg and spicy aioli on a pretzel bun which was the bomb. Really outstanding combination of flavors and texture. Staff is great as well. Our server was attentive, fun and engaging. The gentleman behind the counter greeted us and also very pleasant. I love this place! Everyone was so nice and the food was delicious... We stopped here for breakfast on the way to the Christmas market at Steelstacks. I had the Croissant French Toast w/ Bourbon Banana topping and a side order of scrapple. Very few places sell scrapple so when I see it on a menu I always order it. The French toast was so good and the portion was so large I could barely eat half so I ended up taking most of my food home, but I can assure you I finished the rest the next morning for breakfast because I couldn't let that goodness go to waste. My husband ordered the Breakfast Mac & Cheese which had a potato bottom, the macaroni, sausage, bacon, and you can add an egg for $2 extra. He loved his skillet and finished his. What a delightful find! Stopped in around 9am on a Thursday, were seated immediately, and the waitress took our order quickly. The coffee was great, as were our meals. I had the shrimp and grits crepes, which were awesome. The grits were cooked perfectly, which this southern girl finds rarely to be true in the north. This place is THE BOMB! If I could have a 6th star, I'd have given it to them! It's a tiny place, but dynamite comes in small packages. I had the bourbon banana French Toast made with a real delicate sweet crescent roll. This came with sliced bananas and a dousing of the bourbon cream white sauce. Oh my goodness! You MUST go and try it! The fresh berry compote my friend had was also amazing, and they had a "pork roll" that was new to me, but was delicious. Was looking for a place for breakfast after staying at the Windcreek Resort and found this place on a Yelp search. It's a really small place with about eight seats at the counter and maybe another eight or so tables, but most of the tables could only hold two people. Seems to be a popular place as lots of activity and folks having to wait to be seated. We got lucky and there was a table available when we arrived, so we were quickly seated. Service was so friendly and attentive throughout the meal. I don't think my wife's coffee ever went below a half cup. Overall, the place had a nice family feel to it. We had never ate there before but were tempted to try after some strong world of mouth from friends of mine. It was a good choice. The place is small and only has street parking. There are are a few tables and a counter seating. The menu is also on the smaller side. However what they have on the menu is quite good. The breakfast Mac and cheese was quite, it reminds of the type of breakfast we would get up in Vermont when skiing. Good and hearty. We also had the Hen and eggs and the croissant French toast. The French toast was disappointing, not that it was bad, but it was not as good as the other two. The staff was nice and friendly. The place was clean. They also had a steady flow of regular customers, always a good sign for a place like this. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesday, and they close daily in the early afternoon. My husband and I were traveling from NY to Georgia, and we started out very early, so by 7 am I was ready to eat, so we stopped in Bethlehem PA and I found this resturant online, it has some good reviews, but the pictures were not impressive to me, however I had to find a place to eat, hubby was anxious about getting back on the road, so I decided to order and go. The food was nasty, eggs were not yellow as scrambled eggs are, bacon was burnt, toast WAS dried out from been over done, breakfast potatoes were done in the skin, everything looks like they were cooked on a dirty griddle. We decided to check out the People's Kitchen because of the great reviews. This is a small restaurant located in a primarily residential area. It looks like someone's home so be aware. It is yellow and is on the corner. This spot has 3 tables and six barstools for guests. Our waitress was Ashley. She was friendly, attentive, and told us about the menu choices. I asked how they had been affected by the pandemic and she said they have less tables now because of social distancing. We ordered croissant French toast $9, side of bacon $2, The Omelet $8, side of breakfast potatoes $1. Everything was delicious. The prices are very good. I actually think their side items prices are too low. Everything was really good. The Croissant French toast was something I had never seen before. It was sweet and really tasty. I don't frequent this area anymore, but I am so glad I found this place on Yelp while I was around! I am vegetarian and they let me order eggs, home fries, whole wheat toast and a pancake with syrup. Everything was top notch! The home fries were delicious due in part to the peppery seasoning they put on them. So tasty!! They easily rank in my top 2 or 3 for best home fries I ever had out.
