Scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese with potato cakes
Kathy T.

Husband and I came back for breakfast for the first time in awhile... We were greeted like we were part of the family, which made us feel good. My husband ordered 2 over medium eggs, home fries, bacon and toast and I had my regular there which is there waffle asked to be cooked well done, covered with extra whipped cream and bananas. We both ordered coffees. Everything came out hot and fresh. We definitely left full.

Chicken Croquettes with mashed potatoes and filling

My friend & I stopped here for lunch today. It was our visit. It was FANTASTIC!! We both had Chicken Croquettes and they were the best I've ever had! They were HUGE, tasty and not alot of fillers. We both chose mashed potatoes and filling for our and they were equally delicious! The portions were also huge, enough for leftovers later! The price was great for the amount of food we got! And last but certainly not least, our server John was AWESOME!! He was so pleasant and personable! He was attentive to us and our requests. We joked with him about cranberry sauce and he brought some right out for us! Besides the excellent food, John made our experience even better! I highly recommend you stop in for some great food and excellent service! Thank you John!

Cheeseburger soup

Not too much to say really... I was pretty hungry and in the area... found this place on here.. so we went in. The menu said homemade soup, and I'm a big soup fan. Since I generally don't like to order breakfast after 11 am because it's usually not very good at most places that late, I decided to try the soup. They had 'cheeseburger soup' as one of the options, and the one I went with. Before I go further... let me tell you that there was no hurry in this place. No hurry to bring a menu, no hurry to take your order, and no hurry to bring it out. For the size of the place and how not busy they were, I couldn't see any excuse to be so slow. Back to the food. So I ordered the soup and french fries. I was thinking it would be a delicious version of a cheeseburger, with a side of FF. The soup was barely manageable, and painfully disappointing. It was extremely thick, luke warm (bordering on not hot enough to eat, after waiting too long for it to come?) and just a very off combination of textures. The fries were ok.

Thanks to YELP we found this awesome diner on our way to white water rafting in Pennsylvania. It's a small diner with a lot of personality! And it's owned by an Egyptian family!! We were seated quickly and our waitress, Barbara, came right over with hot coffee. The coffee was fresh. The prices are unbelievable here. In New Jersey an omelet is two times the price. I got the West End Benedict which is two pouched eggs on an English muffin with cheddar, bacon, and tomato. I didn't want the bacon or hollandaise sauce so I asked if I could get spinach instead of bacon and the sauce on the side. The waitress had no problem with my request. It also comes with homefries. I got my homefries well done with onions. Sooo good. Three of my friends got omelets, their homefries well done with onions and my other friend got 2 eggs scrambled with sausage links. They all raved about the food. For five of us to eat breakfast with coffee and juice included it came out to be $42. WHAT! For the amount and quality of food you can't beat it. In Jerz for five people to eat breakfast it would easily be over $100 at any diner... probably more. If you're ever in the area stop here! You will not be disappointed!!!

Eggs and pork roll

Stopped here on way to friends house for Breakfast. Okay we were a bit put off by the Trump Store next door lol but hey that's not their fault . Unlike many we are a bit paranoid about masks and social distancing so we were thrilled when we saw every other table blocked and all staff wearing masks. So glad we went here . Food was great. Just what you want for a big country breakfast. Service was fast and excellent and cheerful. We really felt like we stumbled onto a real find. I had the eggs and chicken fried steak with gravy ... glad my health conscious friends weren't there... worth every calorie Definitely this is a great breakfast place .. the breakfast skillets also looked amazing. Check this place out !

Turkey club n citrus salad

Solid diner. Can always judge a diner by quality of turkey club. Good size, fresh turkey, lots of bacon and a good price of $9.95. Small diner. It's clean with efficient service. Big menu for such a small place. I will return.

It was the most expensive of the breakfast diners in the area, but they probably have the best crispy home fries you'll get in these parts. We sat in a window booth with a view of the parking lot and 209. You get a feel of nostalgia when you look around. Paper advertising placemats, small pattern tiled floors, stainless steel accents mixed in with wood paneling and a line of classic counter stools with a fountain base. I remember when this area had a lot less traffic (a lot less City folk). Our server was a really nice older woman who was sweet to my kids. Food wise you'll get breakfast on one side of the menu and a mix of sandwiches, platters, soups, sides, salads and desserts on the other. The kids loved their hot chocolate with whipped cream and the coffee was a delicious roasted blend that was topped off frequently. I ordered eggs over easy, home fries with rye toast and house made sausage. The sausage was alright, a little chewy, but man those home fries were so crispy and delicious. I would order this meal over and over, but probably substitute a different meat. My wife enjoyed a sausage omelet and the kids enjoyed their Mickey Mouse pancakes and scrambled eggs with a bagel. Remember cash only and I didn't see an ATM on site. If you want to enjoy a country feel in a place that's been in this area for a long time you'll enjoy the Meadowbrook. Thanks guys!

She went into the kitchen, came back out and said not until September. Why would someone have messaged me telling me it was available until May 1??? the waitress offered me cream of broccoli and a couple other kinds of soup, but it felt to me like it was a bait and switch deal! I made the trip for nothing.

Mountainhome Diner has been around for years and is your typical diner with all-day breakfast available. The orange juice I did not care for. Definitely not fresh squeezed. But the sandwich was excellent along with the potatoes. My friend also loved his coffee and scrapple with egg. My family and I visited Mountainhome Diner for lunch on a recent trip to the Poconos. It was actually are last morning on our trip and we were looking for a place to grab lunch before making the drive back to Connecticut. We had driven past the diner several times on previous visits to the area, but had never visited before. We decided to give them a try. It seemed like a classic American diner that you could find just about anywhere. There's no website, no social media accounts, just good old-fashioned diner staples. The staff were friendly and accommodating and they seated us at a booth. A go-to dish that my wife and I both like to get at classic diners is a Greek salad, and Mountainhome Diner's "Big Fat Greek Salad" (chopped iceberg lettuce, crumbled feta, olives, tomato, onions, peppers, grape leaves, house Greek vinegar) sounded like it was just what we were looking for. I ordered mine with gyro while my wife ordered hers with chicken. Those salads really hit the spot! For our sons, we looked to the Kids Menu. Our older son had the "Hot Dog with French fries" while our younger son had the "Chicken Fingers with French fries". They were both very happy with their dishes. We had a nice time at Mountainhome Diner and we're happy that we finally stopped in. We recommend them to anyone visiting the area!
