Probably the best bang for you buck breakfast wise in town. Cheaper and roomier than the Meadowbrook Diner and not as crowded, cleaner and slightly cheaper than the Chestnuthill Star Diner. Parking up front was plentiful, but they have a service garage and an equipment rental place on each side of them so sometimes the entrances can be tight. They have plenty of table seats and a small bar with diner stools. We sat at a quad by the window. The staff was friendly, great with kids and kept the coffee topped off. They only gave us breakfast menus, but they had all the standards you'd expect. I ordered eggs sunny side up, hash browns, bacon and rye toast. They made a Mickey Mouse pancake for my youngest, eggs and a bagel for the other and a large waffle for my wife. The eggs were on the small side, but delicious, hash browns were crispy, greasy and good. I can't complain it was a comforting meal. The kids were happy and my wife's waffle was enough for a second meal the next morning. The coffee was a tasty typical roasted diner coffee. We had a good family experience here and would return. Food is tasty, service is good and prices are competitive. We enjoy the atmosphere. Often "men's" groups use the place for meeting before or after events or for monthly meetings. They are almost always a plus to the atmosphere - you get a nice "family" or "community" feeling. The only negative is their parking lot. The auto business next store seems to park cars they are working on there. A few times we went to other restaurants thinking West End was crowded. And even now that we know, it can be annoying trying to get a spot. I wish they could do something about that. My husband ordered 2 over medium eggs, home fries, bacon and toast and I had my regular there which is there waffle asked to be cooked well done, covered with extra whipped cream and bananas. My friend & I stopped here for lunch today. It was our visit. It was FANTASTIC!! We both had Chicken Croquettes and they were the best I've ever had! They were HUGE, tasty and not alot of fillers. We both chose mashed potatoes and filling for our and they were equally delicious! The portions were also huge, enough for leftovers later! The price was great for the amount of food we got! And last but certainly not least, our server John was AWESOME!! He was so pleasant and personable! He was attentive to us and our requests. Since I generally don't like to order breakfast after 11 am because it's usually not very good at most places that late, I decided to try the soup. Didn't even leave a tip that is how bad the customer service, food and bathrooms were and usually I will leave a tip even if it mediocre. The waitress had horrible attitudes with a crying baby there for the entire time. Thanks to YELP we found this awesome diner on our way to white water rafting in Pennsylvania. It's a small diner with a lot of personality! And it's owned by an Egyptian family!! We were seated quickly and our waitress, Barbara, came right over with hot coffee. The coffee was fresh. The prices are unbelievable here. In New Jersey an omelet is two times the price. I got the West End Benedict which is two pouched eggs on an English muffin with cheddar, bacon, and tomato. I didn't want the bacon or hollandaise sauce so I asked if I could get spinach instead of bacon and the sauce on the side. The waitress had no problem with my request. It also comes with homefries. I got my homefries well done with onions. Sooo good. Three of my friends got omelets, their homefries well done with onions and my other friend got 2 eggs scrambled with sausage links. They all raved about the food. For five of us to eat breakfast with coffee and juice included it came out to be $42. WHAT! For the amount and quality of food you can't beat it. The food is just ok if you stick with a breakfast item. Beyond that you are taking your chances ordering anything else. They have a huge house fly problem. There were hundreds of flies buzzing around landing on us, our table and on our plates. It was disgusting. When I mentioned it, I was told "Yeah, we know. The cook leaves the back door open and that's why all of the flies are in the restaurant. Customers complain but he still does it." There is also 1 waitress with a terrible attitude and personality. She has a resting b*tch face and acts like you, the customer, are disturbing her. Thankfully I'm not allergic to seafood because I ordered chicken croquettes and they gave me one crab cake and one croquette and when I questioned it they told me it was impossible because they came from the same bag!
