Fantastic service. It was so full that we opted to sit at the counter and that was a fun experience on its own. The staff was very busy, but stopped to take care of us regularly. I've been here before so I was looking forward to the Greek Omelette ~ gyro meat, tomato and feta with tzatziki sauce. If you like gyros, this will not disappoint. My friend had the banana pancakes and enjoyed them very much. She was also craving the rice pudding. ((Side note, they have a breakfast that is pancakes with rice pudding in between, but she was not that daring)). We shared the home fries and this area I'm going to be picky, but honest. Arlington Diner is a great breakfast place for the most part. The food is great but some of the frontline waitress staff when it's busy are rude or overworked. Everyone is entitled to a bad day or a busy day but rudeness is not necessary. The ladies today seemed unhappy as every other Sunday. Today I noticed it was busy and we came in, I asked if the table full of dirty dishes was available and was told by a waitress that there was a waiting list. My husband I I ended up at the counter. While the table continued to be full of dishes from the previous guest and we were on counter the lady with the supposed list was asked by another customer after us if available she said that a table in back was available in a few but they cleaned the table quickly and gave to them instead. We were still waiting at counter for any waitress to take our order. The waitress Jill although busy took our order after waiting more than 20 minutes. We got there at 10:48 and didn't get to order drinks until 11:02 then food@11:09 but breakfast came out fast at 11:19 am. The tall thin waitress is always rude as the waitress with the shoulder length black hair dressed in St. Patrick's day themed Apron. I was so glad we didn't get her today she was working the counter too. George the owner is a very nice man and this is why we support his business. It's a wonderful diner. This is the best diner I have eaten in a long time. The waitress was very attentive. The suggestions she gave concerning the portions of food and what came with each order was right on point. The food came rather quickly for a 12 noon lunch time. My sandwich was Country Boy Melt. It was made with the freshest bread toasted along with roasted turkey, roasted peppers, cheddar cheese and Chipotle Mayo. This sandwich was so good. My son ordered My sisters Chicken sandwich on a fresh Brioche bread. The breaded chicken was so big it was coming out of the bun. The chef obviously takes pride in his food. Today I was having breakfast. Simple breakfast. Bacon, Egg and Cheese on a roll and Coffee. The waitress ask me if I am ok. I said yeah. Then she takes away the sugar of which I wasn't finish with it as if she is cleaning up. So I said I will have my refill now on the coffee. Kinda a hint that I am not finish with the sugar yet. She pours me the coffee and takes the sugar away. I said politely " I need the sugar " . She then slams the sugar on the counter with an attitude to her face. Then walks away. The other workers looks at me to see my reaction. I was taken back a little because I did not deserve that treatment. I still tip her 20% but, wasn't happy about it. This place use to be a good place to go to. Now not so much. Since they raised their prices and started only offering 1 refill for coffee and fountain drinks. This place started going down hill. This is the 3rd bad experience in a row I had with this place and I think it is time to move on. This is the first time yelping about it. I figured the last 2 times my have just been bad days, but 3 times the charm. 3 strikes your out. 3 times makes it the New normal for this place. I gave it 3 stars and that is being generous. Visited when I was visiting family. Immediately after eating, I thought, "how did I grow up in the Poconos and only come here for the first time today?" and the first words out of my mouth were "I see why this is your favorite diner." Hands down, this might be the best diner food I've ever eaten. I ordered a tuna melt and it was heavenly. The bread was perfectly toasted, the fish wasn't too fishy, the cheese wasn't rubbery, and the sandwich as a whole was flavorful and delicious. This is homemade comfort food at its finest. You can tell that a lot of love and care goes into the preparation of the food, despite the very modest price tag. My cousins had kid portions, which were super big. The staff was very sweet, owners included. The hours are limited, so it's definitely worth checking that they are open before going. This place is so perfect! It is clean, & right on the main road. Seems to be filled with locals and everyone is so friendly. Our kind of place. The food is so good and generous portions. D had the meat lovers omelet and said it was perfect! He asked for home fries to be well done and they kindly obliged. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet meal-- this is not the place to go. We stopped in today in our way into own for the Winter Fest. Half the tables are closed, but the place was still a mad house and the waitresses were in a panic-- I can't imagine what the place is like at full capacity. They told us the didn't have any tables and to sit at the counter to wait-- then as other people came in-- they forgot we were at the counter and sat the new people. We decided to just eat at counter, but watched this same issue happen over and over again. I watched a black couple get skipped MULTIPLE times while the waitresses sat other people. When they pointed out what was happening the hostess-- Mona/Myra/Margo, something like that, told him that they sat the other people because it was a bigger party and didn't want to give them the larger table-- but they had been skipped over a few times and when they kindly explained that the waitress just put her hands up, like what do you want my to do? She was not polite about it AT ALL and never even apologized for skipping them. When a waitress finally came to take our order we had to tell her that we didn't even have menus yet. The food was bland and boring. I had a very sad and cold omelette. We weren't given any refills until we were done and had to ask for them. What really upset me was overhearing the same hostess talk about the couple from earlier.. I over heard her call them "ignorant" and "if the name fits.." a skinny waitress with long hair was joining in too.. I can only imagine what she was mumbling under her breath. Absolutely unacceptable. Incredibly noisy and chaotic diner, rude staff that will make fun of you later-- and the food sucked too. Will not be visiting here ever again. Staff needs some training on BASIC customer service. Ohh AND they weren't sanitizing the menus between customers at all! Gross. BTW-- just saw their Health Score is 58% yikes. read more

Arlington Diner is a favorite of ours for breakfast or lunch as my wife and I both work near its location. The diner is easily accessible and located in a conspicuous and convenient location off RT 611 in the Stroudsburg area. The portions are always generous and fast to the table. The service is great and it has the feeling of the show "Cheers " where upon entering, "everybody knows your name." If there are any downsides to mention, it would be that the parking is tight and the seating is compressed. But in mentioning those, I'm struggling to find a downside to this diner.
