Went to breakfast at Scotrun Diner on a recent trip to the Poconos. It's an old school diner, looks like nothing's changed since it opened. We were seated quickly, and given menus as our waitress took drink orders. Once she came back with our drinks, she took our orders. We got scrambled and sunnyside eggs, pork sausage, bacon, pancakes, hash browns, fries, and side of well done corned beef hash. Everything was cooked as ordered. I especially liked the corned beef hash since it wasn't too greasy after being cooked well done. The hash browns were very crispy, the pancakes were very fluffy, and the food was great overall. Scotrun diner is a pretty good find. Clean. Very friendly staff. It definitely looks like 1977 in there, but don't let it scare you. The food is pretty good overall. Portions are large. I got a breakfast sandwich with bacon $8, and potato's on the side. I was happy. I hoped for thinly sliced potato's on the grille, but they didn't have that. No big deal. My girlfriend and I went here while on a weekend vacation at the poconos and was looking for a nice place to eat breakfast, and this diner was really good! The staff is very friendly & welcoming. The menu is smaller than the typical diner menu but their food is really good! Best corn beef hash I've ever had, and the pancakes were amazing also! My girlfriend has the French toast with scrambled eggs and she loved it! A good, solid diner. We were at Great Wolf Lodge and realized that it was an early town. All of the restaurants were closing at 8:00 and we could not make them in time. We could have ate at the Lodge but my (mom and dad) wanted more than hot dogs and pizza. The diner was right down the street and about to close. They were happy to seat us just before closing 8pm. It was clean with excellent service and great diner food. I ordered the seafood plater which was fresh and had flounder as well as nice pieces of cod. We love to go to this diner for a quick and delicious meal. Their food is always plentiful, fresh and tasty. My husband loves their open faced turkey sandwich- and recently, I had their open faced meatloaf sandwich (DELICIOUS!!). The service is friendly and efficient. The owners couldn't be nicer! We managed to get a bit of a buffet of pancakes eggs waffles and French toast. Everything was good! If any thing to complain about the waffles were on the dry side but - just add more syrup and they were great ! Coffee was good and everyone liked their hot chocolate. I stopped by Scotrun Diner for a quick brunch in the Poconos. I really appreciated the rich history of this diner, a family-run Greek restaurant that has been operating since 1977. On top of classic diner fare, Scotrun also offers a full bar with everything from beer to mixed cocktails. The hostess and our waitress were both very friendly and made conversation with us at our table. Our waitress was very attentive and checked in on us several times during our meal. The service was quick, and the food was delivered to us hot off the griddle. I unfortunately did not really enjoy my meal. I ordered chocolate chip pancakes, which tasted more bread-y than a pancake. They were tough to chew and the bottoms were burnt. We also got little pats of butter and disposable cups of Smuckers syrup at our table, which seemed a little cheap. However, the service was great and the food was reasonably priced. Make sure to grab a free newspaper or a lottery ticket on your way out! read more

Extremely disappointed in the restaurant's potential discriminatory practices toward tourists and racial minorities. I recently visited as a group of 6 people to place a takeout order. After starting to prepare the food, the server presented us with a check that included an automatic gratuity of 18% ($16.97) - for a takeout order. The server attempted to justify this as their standard practice for any parties of 6 or more - regardless of dine-in or takeout. This is a very unprecedented gratuity system. To-go order as a "party of one, party of two, party of six"? I wonder what they would've done if each of us had individually placed separate orders and paid separate checks? Or if only one of us had gone in to place an order with 6-7 items? Coming from NYC, my friends and I are very familiar with the concept of automatic gratuities. Just never for takeouts. We typically leave generous tips and had intended to do so at Scotrun Diner as well for our large order. I am not leaving this review for the $17. It is concerning to see such a lack of transparency with their gratuity policies and possible attempts to take advantage of certain customers. read more

They really should separate the diner from the Motel. The diner was the best experience at a diner ever. The dining room was extremely clean, the service was excellent and a dirty dish never sat longer than a few minutes. Quite attentive and friendly despite being peak lunch rush on a Sunday. The older woman, who seems to either be the owner or manager, runs a tight ship and seems well respected by the staff and really seems to care. The icing on the cake was that even though there were two of us, it didn't matter. They sat us in one of the largest booths rather than have us wait, and the place was almost full.
