Starting at age 3, my daughter loved pigs simply because they were PINK. So while driving through a little town in the Poconos with our now 20-year-old trying to decide where to grab brunch... we immediately knew where we had to go. Well, when we arrived they seated all 8 of us and we advised waitress we had another engagement in about 2 hours, so all was good. She took our drink order, it arrived and then the fun began. We ordered our food (place was maybe 30% full). We waited, and waited and waited some more. After waiting nearly 50 minutes, we asked about our food and they waitress, named Rose went to check on it. She came and said another 15 minutes. That would make our lunch wait for over an hour. All she said was " she just worked there". Offered nothing else, so we left. I was impressed with the cleanliness as I watched them flip and adjust the limited tables for various sizes of parties while remaining engaged with customers. I had the chicken & waffles with maple/habanero sauce and loved it. Highly recommend, I asked for extra sauce as it was delicious & a great compliment to the crisp yet tender chicken and the fresh sweet Belgian waffles. Hubs got the cinnamon toast which comes with a sweetened granola side. Both are delicious and neither need anything added. We enjoyed sides of potatoes as well as bacon. Hubs drank the pink lemonade and I get the s'mores hot chocolate. This was breakfast before beginning the drive home to Virginia, neither of us needed any food along the way. Of course you must be sure the appreciate the cute piggy decorations and art work both inside and outside the restaurant. It was cool to see the local artist at work updating images on the windows. Excellent breakfast food! Really fun vibes with all the pigs. You can draw your own pig and they'll laminate it and use it as a placemat. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and the food is all her dad's recipes. The restaurant has been in her family for years. Excellent and attentive service. I loved the Taste of Sweetness. The place itself is not very big so be mindful if you have a large party, you might need to split up tables like we did. We all enjoyed our food. Nothing comes with a meal you have to add everything. I added cheese to my omelet, and it was a $4 up charge for cheese! When your base omelet is already $12, it's a bit much to not include basics like sides. That said, the food was excellent. My omelet was delicious, fluffy, and cooked perfectly. Piggys is, hands down, one of my happy places. I'm shocked to see that it has a 3.8 on Yelp! My boyfriend and I discovered it randomly, as we like to go on long drives. I saw the cute piggy outside and thought, 'We need to check it out.' It's a 1.5-hour drive from my home, and since discovering it, I've been there four times, just to eat at Piggy's and have my family try it. They serve the most delicious and FILLING omelettes I've ever had, accompanied by tasty home fries. I'm also in love with their French Vanilla Cappuccino with whipped cream - it's one of my favs! This place is the best brunch spot in Pennsylvania. I loved all the French Toast options. Make sure to try the sampler. The Cinnamon was my favorite. I LOVED the chicken and waffles. Best north of the Mason Dixon line. The waffles are true Belgian style with pearl sugar inside and crunchy outside. The fried chicken has a great batter and moist inside. The pig decor is cute. My friend and I ended our Boys Weekend with a breakfast at Piggy's and picked Piggy's based partially on your Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, we left disappointed. We got there just after opening and a few tables were already filled. Other cars were slowly filling up the parking lot, and by the time we left, you had to wait for a table to become available. The restaurant has a small Cracker Barrel-like gift shop as you come through the front door. Lots of Piggy stuff like hats and shirts. The restaurant itself is rustic wood and about 20 tables(?) and lots of pig-themed memorabilia. We were seated by the window in a corner 2-top that was literally slanted due to the floor. When our waitress placed the full carafe of water on the table, if we weren't paying attention, it would have slid right off making a big mess. We caught it right on time before falling and ended up putting it on the window shelf. When I checked in on Yelp, I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was a 10% discount for a Yelp check-in! Great! I showed our waitress who said they don't honor that anymore and should take it down. We ordered our food and waited and waited and waited. Others who came in after us got their food before us. The waitress came twice to say it was on the way, but the kitchen staff was not prepared and also they did not know what they were doing. My friend's coffee was refilled quickly twice. My Western Omelette finally arrived and although the cheese was melted, it was cold. The hash browns I requested well done and they weren't. They did taste good and were made with slices of potatoes about a 1/4 inch thick. Upon being asked by the waitress, we also had them with onions and peppers which were both diced and not too plentiful. I only ate half the omelette. My friend had scrambled eggs with hash browns and a piece of scrapple. The scrapple was a very thick slice of ok scrapple and except for the hash browns, nothing else was completely finished. When we got the bill, we were again surprised to see a credit card surcharge although we paid in cash. With the hash browns and cheese considered as upcharges the total was high. $47 with tax and credit card surcharge for an Omelette, scrambled eggs, two hash browns, a coffee, cheese, and a piece of scrapple not including tip. On our way here we happened to see many other restaurants that served breakfast. Probably should have tried one of them instead. Today, Piggy's was not good food or kitchen-wise and it's doubtful we'd come back. Even if they had taken the 10% off due to their fault of not removing the Yelp check-in coupon, it was not worth it. Piggy's is a cute place and our server Sabrina was super sweet and helpful. The atmosphere and vibe is very hectic and anxiety inducing. The place is very small and the tables are jam packed into it. And you will be sitting right up against strangers. There was very loud and obnoxious club music blasting from a blue tooth speaker, on top of the loud talking of the guests, and the yelling out of food orders from the kitchen. This was the cutest little mom-and-pop breakfast place with a pig theme. We came with a group of 8 around 8:30 AM on a Sunday. We were able to sit all together which was great since this place is pretty small. I ordered two eggs of any style with a side of bacon. I got them over-easy and the temperature was perfect, solid on the outside but runny on the inside. The only issue I had was that they cooked the eggs on the griddle with either butter/lard/fat. But, waaayyyy too much of it. I could barely taste the egg itself, all I could taste was grease. One of my friends got a side of scrambled eggs and she had the same exact issue. It just tasted purely of grease and was making us a little nauseous. Otherwise, everything else tasted fine. We were very disappointed with our last visit to Piggy's, and I'm sad to report that it will be our last visit. We have gone every time we visit Lake Harmony. It is a Saturday morning highlight that we greatly look forward to. However, things are moving in a far different direction. Four 4 men, all with ONE entree and coffee drinks, we spent an absurd $156. EVERYTHING is now a la carte. An omelet is north of $11 before you put a thing in it, with added ingredients more than $3 each. The standard omelet does not come with any ingredients, just eggs. Not just no ingredients, but no potatoes either. A small side dish was $6. The menu was shrunken considerably with far fewer options than in our previous visits. I am in the food industry and sell food commodities, and I know firsthand that the cost of doing business is more now than it has ever been. I am sensitive to the challenges in this economy. However, there is a big difference between passing some costs on to your loyal customers and gouging them. Unfortunately Piggy's has decided to shrink the menu, fatten their wallets, and is making no apologies for it. Piggy's, you will not miss our business, I'm sure. But we will miss Rose and the rest of your staff. Update your menu, let folks know what they are walking into, and do a menu analysis on your cost of goods. I will even offer my help. There is no world in which the prices you are charging are justified. A standard 3 egg omelet, even at recent peak pricing of $8 a dozen eggs, is just under $2 in cost. An $11 menu price represents an 82% margin mark up. That is just one item. Please, do some math and make a course correction. And update your menu on your website. Some of the orders were wrong, but we didn't even bother to try to fix it considering how long it took for the food to come out. To get a refill on anything, even water, you had to walk up to the kitchen and ask for it since the waiting staff never came to check on us. Very pricy! Pulled pork sandwich, add fries for 6.00 and an ice tea, 27 dollars. Guess that is resort prices. Pulled pork was ok, the bun was soaked n grease or butter. If I squeezed the bun the oil would drip. Food was hot but not worth 27 dollars. I could get a dinner for less. read more
