One of the better "dive" bars I've been to in a while. We went around 2pm on a Friday. Not many people were there. We were greeted and able to sit wherever we wanted. Even though we were "out of towners", the bartender was super nice to us. The food was great. You know how you can tell when a place has old oil they fry in? Not this place. The fries and fried shrimp were fantastic. And I love the fact that no kids are allowed in after 5pm. After all, it is a bar . But it was very clean. I would definitely go back! read more

Cool little Irish pub with tasty food. The pierogis are just delicious. I like them sautéed. We like to sit at the bar. Sometimes the staff is chatty and funny. If they have a soup or chili, it's great. Last time we split the Reuben. It's grilled open faced, the sauce is touch sweet. I love the steamers there, too. A few decent beers on tap. There's nothing like a local bar with friendly people, great drinks and fun times. That's why we stopped here during our stay at Lake Arrowhead because we were intrigued by the Yelp reviews. We enjoyed our beverages, the bartender and conversation with the other customers. The music was great for us Gen x'ers, and I know my younger self will be mad that I said this but it was kind of loud in there...which was fine with us because we didn't go there for a romantic dinner. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. What makes this place special is the good drinks and great vibes in this little hometown bar. I stopped in for a pint of Guinness today and maybe something for dinner. Holy smokes! This is a dying place with every light turned off except for the few above the bartop. The morbidly obese man in a stained t-shirt who needed to clean up his overgrown beard, acted like he was doing me a personal favor to offer me a seat. No Hi! Grab a chair! What can I get for you? Would you like a menu? That doesn't happen here. Of course the place was empty. Of course he doesn't understand why you have to treat a customer like they are a human! I didn't leave a tip. This place has been on my list since moving to the area in January. Finally got the opportunity to go and we will definitely be returning. I had the da's cheeseburger with pickles, onions and ketchup and my husband had a terrific sandwich(will come back and edit once I get the name) the atmosphere was nice, quaint, and the people were friendly. It is small, but don't let that fool you. There is some serious quality food coming out of that kitchen. The only suggestion I have is for the prices to be updated on the menu as both of our sandwiches were several $$ more than the menu stated. The cook came over to our table to ask about the food, and also thanked us as we were leaving! Last but not least... definitely ADD THE FRENCH FRIES ! They are SO GOOD!!!! My family and I started our Poconos vacation and needed a place for dinner on our first night. I was rather disappointed at our choices via Yelp because it seemed that many knew they were in a tourist area and could "get away" with either bad service or food. Something about Da's Pub grabbed my attention and I made the command decision that this was our place. We definitely hit the target. When we first pulled in the parking lot about 6pm it was empty and we almost made a u-turn to go elsewhere. But we persevered with our mission and entered. There were a few sitting around having good conversation and it turned out to be staff and owners. You enter to a five/six seat bar area, to the right was a few tables in a separate room, and there were also some tables in the bar area. It's definitely law enforcement friendly as one could tell with the hundreds of police department patches lining the bar wall. We found a few that were really close to where I grew up. The bartender (owner?) was really friendly and more than willing to explain everything and even places to go. When asked, he said they've been in business 15 years but it felt like 50. We sat at the bar where my kid was amazed at the spinning barstools. The bartender did say if it got too busy we may have to move to a table but we didn't mind. The menu has burgers, bar appetizers like mozzarella sticks, onion rings, pickle fries (86ed today as I really wanted to try them), pirogies, and things like cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteaks, and other regular bar fare. They have Harp, Yuengling, Guinness, and Smithwicks on tap, and plenty of others in bottles in addition to a full bar. While the family went with a Da's Burger, Special Burger (with pork roll!), and I think a California Burger, I went with the Chicken Cheesesteak. We also had some appetizers of the pirogies and mozzarella sticks. Everything was so good. Burgers were medium as requested, big, and served with some awesome fries. I was told by all in the family that the burgers were just as good as what I do at home. I had asked for chips instead of fries which is a bag of Lays but switched to some of the best fries. My chicken cheesesteak was not chopped up chicken, but chunks of chicken breast with plenty of onions and mushrooms and a decent amount of cheese. Everyone was pleased and very full. There was just a great vibe here even though at first we were apprehensive to even enter. The bartender was so cool and friendly. We definitely want to come back here before we leave for home. $103 for two appetizers, four mains (3 burgers and a chicken cheesesteak) three cocktails, a Harp, and two shots of Tullamore Dew not including tip. Omg, a little gem in the mountains! Family owned Irish Pub with cold beer and great food and ohhhh The Steeler GAME! Stick with the typical bar food. When in for a steak since the owners were bragging theirs was better than Louie Primes but I have to say not even close to Louie's. The bartender was one of the sons and he's just miserable and rude. There were plenty of tables- we wouldn't have had to sit at the bar- and it was very early in the evening, so I'm not sure what the issue is. About a dozen cold beers on tap and a nice little menu cooked by someone who knows what they're doing. On Saint Paddy's Day, a group of four of us traveled to the Pocono mountains to stay at our cabin in Blakeslee, PA. for a few days. Down the highway, about a quarter of a mile is Da's Pub. An Irish oasis in the Poconos and a favorite of ours for many years. Owned and operated by the O'Leary family the quaint pub has been a fixture in Blakeslee for many years. It has gone through many owners in the last 50 years, and when the O'Leary's took over, there was a "New Beginning". Mr. O'Leary is the other half of the "Shake & Bake" cousins according to my good friend John. Mrs. O'Leary is always on hand as the hostess, and their son is the chef. You enter a small but quaint 10-seat bar area. The dining room was to the right with a few tables. We have been here many times over the years and always there were the smiles, laughter, and of course the beer. My go-to is the cheese steak a nice crispy but chewy roll, tender shaved steak, and melted cheese and onions. Superb. The pork chop entree is to die for. Succulent 1" chop grilled perfectly with mashed potatoes. The hamburgers are smashed burgers on a roll, OMG. But it was Saint Paddy's Day. When we arrived, the parking lot was jamin. We opened the door to what can only be described as a celebration and party. It was packed and there was Mrs. O'Leary dressed in her Irish garb looking beautiful as ever with that great smile. "Come on in fellas" We made our way to the dining room because the bar area was packed. The waitress a small woman with glasses came over within 10 mins with menus and our drink orders. We all ordered Harp and Guinness half & Half and a round of Tully shots. The drinks came out with our very efficient waitress but in plastic cups. A half & Half in plastic cups, really? As the evening progressed, we got hungry. The menu was for St. Paddy's Day. 1-appetizer; a corned beef slider. Entries were Shepherd's pie, Banger & Mash, Guinness stew, and a Corned beef sandwich. My son and I ordered the Guinness stew and my other son, and my brother ordered the corned beef sandwich. Well after another few rounds of Guinness, our great and efficient waitress who mind you was tending at least 8 packed tables and was doing a great job bringing out our orders. Now I am not sure if it was just because of the sheer volume of patrons due to the celebration or what, but I have never in all my years going to Da's Pub have been so disappointed. The Guinness stew was a large bowl of wide egg noodles that needed more time, a slurry of meat, brown gravy, and a slice of bread. That's it. No peas, no potatoes, no onions, or carrots. It tasted burnt and horrible. The Corned beef sandwich was equally as bad. A few slices of corned beef on two pieces of white bread. Nothing else. No mustard, pickles, or chips. Just two slices of corned beef on two slices of dry white bread. We ate as much as we could. Watching my brother eating the extremely dry sandwich was actually funny and reminded me of the three stooges skit chewing a dry leather bootsole. Like I said I am not sure if Da's was overwhelmed with patrons, but it pains me to say the food really sucked. However, every time we have been there before and that is many over the years, we are always not only satisfied but surprised by the size, quality, and fine preparation of our meals. So, the big question is would I go back there? Absolutely. The O'Leary family puts in their all for Da's and it shows. They persevered through the COVID shutdown, and modified seating and now that we are back to "Normal" they are doing great. We all have a bad day, and I wonder if it was just the sheer number of patrons on St Paddy's Day that lead to the shortfall this time, but Da's Pub is a piece of the Poconos, and let me tell you this place is great. read more

The place to go In Blakeslee! Cozy and friendly, not large so can get a little loud when busy, but not a problem because of the family atmosphere. As a matter of fact, the owner's Mother is a retired schoolteacher that a lot of patrons had in school. My Granddaughter's favorite! Over the years we have tried just about everything on the menu. On way to visit family in Pittsburgh, PA from N.J. We were looking for somewhere to stop to grab a bite. GPS directing us to Cracker Barrel, and we drove past Da's Pub. Husband did a quick u-turn and the next thing you know we had the best prime-rib cheese steak and a Da's burger with pickles and onions. Locally owned, met two great brothers and no shortage of conversation at the bar. Moral of the story, dump the paid advertised restaurants on GPS and eat locally. Def a hidden gem! Burgers are fresh meat not frozen so good!! Daughter had one and hubby too! Pickle fries a must, we all shared them. My 6 year old devoured the pierogies, I did pick off the perfectly sautéed onions but I would have kept them (my fat ass actually shoved them in my cheesesteak) I had the cheesesteak it was so juicy and perfectly cheesed! Decided to give it a try based on their great reviews. Was very impressed that it didn't feel like greasy bar food. My husband loved his open faced rubin and I got the philly cheesesteak and was really impressed by the meat as these sandwiches are usually too greasy for me. Even their french fries were nice and crisp w/out being too greasy. We came for the food not for drinks as we were w/our kids. Although no kids menu my kids enjoyed their chicken strips and hamburger. The ambiance felt like a dive bar but our server was great. Wasn't very busy. It's not very exciting looking from the outside but glad we found it on yelp or wouldn't have tried it. read more
