My daughter in law lives up near borderlines every time we go there the food is good and the waitresses are really nice; it's solid diner food coffee is good --just needs to be served a little hotter-- nothing is worse then tepid coffee no matter how good it is and yes I like it to where my mouth is on fire, so I try to take this into consideration but it was REALLY lukewarm however the Greek salad was excellent and French onion soup was good as well read more

Service was great for a group of people. We came to this resturant for a dinner with a tour group a couple of weeks before leaving for our vacation. Our meal consist of a salad bar ( very small , maybe 8 items at the salad bar) chicken parm platter ( portions were small, and lacked flavor, the sauce tasted like a jar of sauce not anything homemade) and a small piece of tiramisu meal ,included coffee and any soft drink. My wife and I relocated to the area almost a year ago but this was our first visit here. It's a local family place and the food and service were all great. We were there for dinner and it was well worth it!!! Elen G was our waitress and she could not have been any nicer nor attentive. She was prompt in bringing our food out and made sure we had what we needed throughout the meal. The food was awesome, we both had soups, chicken rice & the ham & bean. Both were very tasty and very hot. My wife had the bowl which was huge and she added the salad bar to it. The salad fixings were very fresh and the lettuce was green, not white as is found in some similar dining establishments. Everything else on the bar was fresh and tasty. I had a tuna sandwich which was tasty, fresh & heaping between the slices of toast. Now that we know where this is we will be stopping by more often. And after talking with neighbors we are anxious to try a breakfast there. A good stop and a great deal for the price!!! read more

Although I'm literally by this place almost daily this was only my second time here since the days when it was a Perkins. While certainly not horrible by any stretch, based on what we were served a five star rating here would be comical as the food is basic at best with the hard to overlook fact of lacking any real flavor. Food: The sausage gravy and biscuit were on special so that was ordered and while a fair amount of food especially when the home fries are considered, the gravy had zero flavor. Pretty much just a blob of grey nothing. Adding salt & pepper to it only equaled a salt & peppery grey blob of nothing. I guess considering it was less than five bucks what did I expect but still it was mostly a pointless order. The old lady got the creamed chipped beef and while she said it was perfect temperature wise, it also tasted like zero. I don't eat that crap but I know from her telling me that this part is not surprising as most places in the LV that try to make this usually fail one way or another. The Mayflower over on West Broad Street, they make a very good chipped beef (aka the SOS) which is fairly hard to beat. This place could take a lesson from them in terms of how to season/flavor this one as well. Service: Speaking of The Mayflower, our server at least back in the day worked there on a part-time basis (I don't know if she still does or not) so it was interesting seeing her here. She's a riot and is very much on top of things at every one of her tables. Strictly based on the food this one would be an easy two star experience as the food (just like the review from Deborah H.) simply didn't taste like much of anything. But the service was great and we were in and out in probably thirty minutes and that means something so I'll generously go three. read more

The Borderline is a fairly standard diner. There's plenty of parking and we were seated promptly. There's also counter seating with a television. I tried a veggie omelette and it was as you'd expect it to be but with more cheese and a little cold. I expect it was due to the slightly casual service. Coffee was fine and always refilled. Worst buffet I ever had! I was at the Borderline for a private dinner after a funeral. I should have stopped after I was at the salad bar which was small but good. All I can say is that what the buffet was offering was interesting. The green beans had something mixed in with them that I could not figure out. The strips of under cooked potatoes (French Fries) were in some kind of a vinegar solution. The chicken was served in a large baking pan and the piece I had was under cooked! The final offering was some kind of pasta; this was the only good offering on the buffet! This meal would not be worth half the cost of what was paid per person. read more

Borderline Restaurant is a diner-esque locale along West Union Boulevard, a free standing structure in the parking fields of a larger shopping center. It is newer and cleaner than other diners in the vicinity. It is clearly a favorite haunt for seniors as the place was full of silverhairs socializing. Very nice. The service was very friendly from hostess who engaged in a jocularity with me on the way to my booth, to my server, who was willing to talk about her job and the history of the resto, while returning to refill my coffee several times. My French Toast breakfast was ample and satisfying, thicker cut white bread, sufficiently egged and grilled. The accompanying butter and syrup were both prepackaged. Had these been higher quality, and particularly a maple syrup option, this meal could have led to fandom. Yet, the cut corners and cheaper alternatives along the way make this an adequately good meal, but nothing more. read more

This diner-like restaurant is in a strip mall where a bunch of street converge. The restaurant has its own section of the parking lot, which seems to get rather congested sometimes. I haven't been to the Perkins restaurant that used to be here, so I can't compare with that. I also haven't been to this restaurant for anything other than breakfast, so that's the only thing I have to go on. Nevertheless, I thought service was nice and the food was good enough, in decent-sized portions, and priced reasonably. read more

Each time I think of this place, the song of the same name by Madonna gets stuck in my head. Now you're probably thinking of it, too! The restaurant does have the look of a generic Perkins (since it was a Perkins a few years back). The service is always wonderful, and the last time I visited the owner stopped by the tables to see how everyone was enjoying the food. The prices are always reasonable, whether you're getting chicken pot pie or breakfast anytime. You won't spend more than $30 with tip for two people. My only gripe is that they're not a 24/7 diner. There are other all-night diners in the area but when I'm craving excellent diner food I'm always thinking of the Borderline. And Madonna, because the song is still stuck in my head. : ) read more

First of all, I have to laugh at the other comments wondering why the name is Borderline. It's not because they serve "borderline" food. It's because it's on the Borderline of Allentown and Bethlehem. This place has a pretty decent salad bar with most of the fixings. It's hard to find a diner like place that is this clean and the staff so friendly and nice. I've been here for breakfast and lunch many times. For breakfast, I've enjoyed anything from an omelet to waffles with ice cream! :) My advice is to stay away from the Cream Chipped Beef (aka, SOS). It's a bit bland and the sauce is REALLY thick. My spouse and I like to go to Marshal's across the parking lot and we always mention as we leave that we need to try Borderline sometime. After reading all of the positive reviews here on Yelp concerning the place, we finally went and had lunch on 05/21/2013. The previous reviews rating this place as excellent were spot on. As we walked in we were met with smiles from two different employees and were immediately seated. The restaurant was extremely clean. The menu was complete and the prices were very reasonable. Food was served quickly and hot. I had a cheeseburger since I love love love burgers and was impressed by the freshness of the ground beef and the bun, Fries were perfectly done and good tasting. My spouse had the meatball sub and was told that it was fantastic. As we were paying we told them that we saw many reviews on Yelp that praised the restaurant and we can now understand why. This place is basic, down home diner food served by kind people in a clean, quiet and pleasant environment. We loved it and will go back next week. read more

My family thought we'd try a new diner and this place had some decent reviews so we gave it a try. First, the spring mix in the salad bar was old, brown and mushy. The iceberg was also far from fresh. My cream of broccoli soup was ridiculously hot and really not that good. My daughters French onion soup was barely warm and also not very good. I had chicken paprikash over buttered noodles. The noodles were way overcooked but the chicken was at least edible. The rest of the family had omelettes which were ok but nothing special. Overall it was very disappointing. I really wanted to like this place but I won't ever go back. Maybe the French toast is good like some other reviews have said but I won't go back to try it. Also, the place closed at 8pm, an older lady came in alone at 7:40 wanting a sandwich. They told her "just to let you know we close at 8 so you might want to take it to go". I've worked in restaurants before and people have come in two minutes til closing time and they still got a table. It was pretty awkward. . read more

Great place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner before doing some out of town shopping. They do not have espresso or cappuccino but they have regular coffee lol I had to point that out because I thought it was super weird. I ordered Seltzer with lemon - seltzer didn't taste like seltzer from NY but was drinkable and I had the broccoli and cheddar cheese omelette which melted in my mouth. So good!!!!! My boyfriend had a gyro wrap, I ate half of his lol he ate half my eggs and everything was absolutely delicious. They also have an all you can eat buffet which explains why people from the nutty professor were walking around me lol .... Just saying some people are very large in this place but that's a good sign !!! Means food is awesome read more
