    Shrimp tacos
    Stephanie T.

My family and I were visiting PA for the holidays and was looking for a breakfast/lunch place on December 24, 2023. The day being Christmas Eve, some places were closed. We came across Griddle 145 in our search and we arrived around 11:00am. Normal business hours are 8am to 2pm, but we saw a sign on the door that saids it will close at 12pm. We were worried they weren't going to seat us and had to eat quickly, but thankfully, we were able to enjoy our meal. A couple of more groups were seated after us. I ordered the shrimp tacos which had grilled shrimp, cabbage, roasted corn, Pico de Gallo, and creamy cilantro lime sauce. It was served with tortilla chips and pico. I enjoyed the tacos and they were a good portion. The tortilla was soft and all the ingredients were fresh. The yummy creamy cilantro lime sauce was oozing out of the tacos. Other family members had coffee, orange juice, house hash, farm scramble, Gabe's breakfast melt, and build your own omelet. Everyone enjoyed the food and the service was wonderful. They didn't rush us. There is a parking lot next to the restaurant. Inside there are plenty of tables and it is spacious.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was perfect it created an amazing atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were all super friendly. Presentation of food was top tier however I can't say the same about the taste. Food was lacking flavor and flare. Extremely disappointing.

This is my second time at Griddle 145. I visited close to when they first opened and wasn't all that happy with the experience so I was hesitant to go back, but some years had passed and this is where the family wanted to go. My second time there was great, and there were plenty of options for vegetarians. I had the scallion pancake, which was a unique and tasty dish that impressed everyone. I also had a vague memory of the coffee not being very good on my first trip. This time around, it was perfect - super strong the way I like it and the exact right accompaniment for breakfast. My kid had the breakfast tacos which was an impressively large dish that he devoured. My wife had the mushroom scramble, which was beautiful. She's gluten-free and it was awfully nice that they had a gluten-free English muffin option for her. We definitely will come back and eat more here. This was a great experience with options for everyone with all our varying diets.

We went on a Sunday and even though it was pretty business inside, we sat right away. Our waiter was super attentive and was able tongive great recommendations for popular items on the menu. They have a great selection of delicious sounding items and it was hard to choose! We will definitely be back!

One of my go to for breakfast. They have cheesy jalapeno grits which is just divine. Cheesy and a bit spicy, perfect combination. Not crazy about their home fries which are cut potatoes. I prefer them like old school style home fries, a bit mashed and crunchy on the outside. I love that they have vegan options such as no huevos rancheros and tofu scramble. I also like their scallion pancakes. Many options to choose from for breakfast. Last but not the least, good bloody Mary! Fast and friendly service! Tip: It gets crowded on the weekend here, expect a wait.

Griddle 145 is a breakfast/lunch restaurant located south of the Whitehall shopping district. Parking lot is surprisingly large. There was a 20-minute wait for a seat, but as it was a holiday, we found that acceptable. They recommend using the Join Waitlist button on Google while traveling to the restaurant as it will shorten wait times. Interior is basic with a reasonable amount of seating and they do have a countertop seating area. Menu primarily consists of omelets and burgers. Beverages are Coke products served in bottles, but they do offer other drinks. Each table gets a carafe of water. Considering the crowd, the wait time for our food to arrive was short. The Rodeo Omelet was tasty and the presentation was excellent, with my friend's burger also being well prepared. Prices were fair for sit down. Griddle 145 is well worth returning to in the future.

Since this shop is close to my house,…read moreand everything they have is so good, it is one that I find myself coming back to time after time. Coffee Etc. is a locally-owned coffee shop located in the heart of Castle Shannon. It is near well-known places such as Ice Castle and just down the hill from Myrtle Elementary. They serve traditional and artisan coffees and teas, along with an extensive menu of breakfast and lunch items. There is always a selection of desserts and pastries on the counter as well. It is right along the T line, so it is easy to get to both by vehicle and public transit. There is not a private parking lot, but there are spaces along the street out front, as well as ample Street parking options around and behind the building. I have never had to park too far away when making a stop here, often securing a space right in front. The shop has both indoor and outdoor seating options. There are two-person and four-person tables that surround the front entrance. Inside, there are low-top tables, high-top tables and couches to choose from. On the weekends, it can be packed in here in terms of seating. I usually am able to find a table, but just be aware in case you are coming during a peak time! Overall, the vibe is a comfy and cozy cafe. It is warm, inviting, and makes you want to hang out for awhile. I always love the in-progress puzzle that sits at the counter where drinks are handed out. You can contribute a little bit to the work-in-progress in your idle moments waiting for your order to be ready. It is also fun to see what puzzle will be there the next time you visit. Something cool about this place is their dedication to their faith. They have free Bibles available for visitors, and they host different Bible studies and groups throughout the week. On this day, I visited around 1:45 PM on a Wednesday in September. It was not very busy, but there were other patrons in the shop. I took a moment to look at the monthly specials on the board outside, and made my way in to order a drink. The staff here are always so friendly and kind, and so it is no surprise that I was promptly greeted when entering. I was between a few of the drinks, but I ended up deciding on the Kettle Corn Iced Latte, since that is not a flavor you see everyday for coffees. As it was not busy at this time, I only waited a minute or so from the time I placed my order to when I had the drink in-hand. My drink was very good! I loved the unique flavor of the Kettle Corn, as I had never had that in a coffee before this latte. I truly have never had a bad drink or food item from here, and this visit was no different. They have so many different flavors and sauces to choose from, you will surely find one to your liking. I typically get one of the features/seasonal drinks, but you are able to customize any which way you want. Their breakfast sandwiches are amazing here, so I have to mention them in this review as well. I did not get one on this visit, but they are made-to-order and the quality is top-notch. There are several sandwiches on the menu, but you can also customize your own. I recommend getting the Chipotle Raspberry Jam on whatever sandwich you choose. It is wonderful! Plus, the sandwiches come with a little cookie as a sweet ending to your meal. The pricing here is on-par with what you would expect from a local coffee shop. I am usually spending between $6 and $7, depending on the size. I will typically get a custom sandwich, which starts at $7.50. It is not off-base with what you would expect for a local shop. I do feel the value is there, since everything is so tasty and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. I always love coming to Coffee Etc, and I highly recommend you give it a try if you are in the area or are thinking about stopping. The atmosphere, homemade sandwiches, variety of drinks, and the cozy vibes keep me coming back time and time again. Plus, they are always having new and seasonal drinks to try, so there will always be something different to enjoy.

Apparently,…read moreat one point, this restaurant was hopping and required several months in advance to make a reservation. Unfortunately, the restaurant closed and was bought by new owners, which is now known as Wild Rosemary Bistro. The restaurant probably can only hold about 50 people. They have a Supper Club prix-fixe menu that is served family style, which is a unique experience for guests. I brought my Supper Club to try out this place, and the experience was filled with both ups and downs. First, I had a rather large group coming, and they split up our group into 2 tables that weren't close to each other. I knew this ahead of time, so that was no problem. Our waitress was nice but the service was pretty slow for the amount of people in the restaurant. It was also very hot in the restaurant, and our group had to ask for ice for our water and ourselves because we were so hot. The meal started out with some sauce & ricotta focaccia. It was doughy and soft but very heavy and filling. It was a nice, added touch since it wasn't on the menu! Carrot & Fennel Soup: This soup was different and outstanding! The flavor profile was so good, and I enjoyed every minute of it! We also got some more bread in between courses. Lemon Cream Alfredo: This dish was very lemony and not overly hot like I would have liked. It definitely tasted like something I could make at home. Salmon: We got A LOT of salmon, but it was very dry and overly tasted like dill. Many people in my group loved this, but I was not one of them. Nutella Tiramisu: I don't like coffee flavor or Nutella, and I loved this dessert. It was so flavorful, and we got a very large portion! Overall, we paid $80/per person for this meal. We got A LOT of food and even had enough to take home. However, for as much quantity as we got, there was lack in the quality of the food. There were so many bread and starch courses, that we were ridiculously fool throughout the whole meal. We would have preferred less bread and more substance. The idea and concept for this restaurant is great. I really hope they are able to provide a better quality of food. If they do, I think this restaurant could really soar!

The food was amazing the risotto was the favorite of the night. I like the pesto but the pasta was a bit too al dente for me. The waitress was so nice and the courses came out quick since it's a set menu she even packed up our leftovers. Definitely come hungry because it's six courses plus homemade bread . I had enough for a decent lunch the next day. The biggest con for me is its far from my area but I'll take that drive once a month for the changing menu
