Walked down from my office to take my new staff member to lunch. Always love the classic burger because it's such a good Smashburger. The fries are more than enough for three people. Not the cheapest but nothing's cheap anymore.
We stopped by on a a Thursday during winter break and it was pretty quiet. We placed our orders and picked a table and our order came out what feels like immediately. The burgers and fries are delicious as always! One thing to note is that the city got rid of the street parking directly in front of Moonlit so we had to drive around for quite some time to find street parking.
Moonlit Burgers is always a hit! You order at the counter, get a table number, find a table & they bring it out to you. They also clear your tables! Service is usually pretty quick, especially on my most recent visit on a busy Friday night. Their smash burgers are perfect - thin, juicy with crispy edges. I love that it comes on a Martin's potato roll. The shoestring fries are delicious. They have a full service bar and serve Millie's ice cream for cones and shakes (you can get your shake spiked too)!
Tried this place last night for the first time before home Pens game and the line was out door but it moved fast! You order at the counter, get a number and then they deliver the food to where you are sitting. My husband snagged an empty stool seat and I waited in line and ordered. I give it a 5/5 for the quickness on a packed game night. Our drinks came out within a minute or two of sitting down and then surprisingly our food came out almost immediately afterwards. They have a nice little bar in the back, lots of seats throughout the store which mostly are large communal tables and some private booths. I tried the Moon bird (chicken sandwich) based on a recommendation and enjoyed it. The shoestring fries were just okay. My husband had the double cheeseburger and the patties were so thin!!! He was extremely disappointed. I am curious if the food would be a little better on a non-game night. A lot of people have mentioned that it's super greasy and we didn't notice that at all with our meals. I was glad I went for chicken instead. They have a a nice little drink selection. He had a beer and I had the spicy margarita. The milkshakes looked amazing and you can add a boozy option for a few dollars more. All in all it was a good quick, filling meal before the game and cheaper than eating in the rink!
Took my brother here, who is a burger connoisseur. Wait was quick, 10-15 min or so at 6 pm on a Friday. Our double smash burgers and smash fries came out in minutes. He was absolutely blown away by our meal. Now I have to take him here every time he visits. I've had moonlit burgers via Uber Eats before, but it was an honor and privilege to have been able to enjoy fresh off the grill.
Food was pretty good, my bf said he felt "gluttonous" Anyways, I would recommend! The staff was very friendly. Good vibes in Moonlight burgers all around.
I was actually very surprised when I walked into the spot. I've drove past this location so many times not even aware it was there. It is located at the old Primanti's that sat at the corner of Penn Avenue in Garfield. We decided to come here one evening when the power was out. When I say that was a good call. When you walk in go to the register place your food order, they give you a number and you take a seat wherever you would like, and they will bring the food to you. I'm not a huge Smashburger person however my 22-year-old and 17-year-old boys are big fans of Smashburgers. They said it was one of the best ones that they've had in the city. To be honest for me to not be a Smashburger person I will say I truly enjoyed the flavor of this Smashburger. They have a few options to choose from when it comes to the burgers and a few other options of other items. We also ordered fries and they give you the shoestring fries and they were perfect. The staff was also very friendly. They also had a bar. Overall, we will be back again. Great job Moon lit burgers.
A very solid smash burger spot. If we are just talking about satisfying a craving for burger and fries, straight up, this place does the job. I went for the classic double, and fries. My partner had the single with regular onions. We both enjoyed our burgers and the fries are thin and crispy.
Fantastic smash burgers! I loved the classic burger, and the sauce was so tasty. The bun was pillow-y soft, and the bean salad was amazing. It had spice, sweetness, freshness, and a great crunch. My daughter had shoestring fries, and they were so good! For being busy, food was pushed out fast, and it was so good! There was a wide variety of seating options and a nice outdoor seating area, as well. read more

Went before concert at PPG arena, line was out the door but moved very well and manager was there to tell everyone how it worked with ordering and with seating. These burgers are truly the Best smash burgers I have ever had. Their fries are thin and crispy so so yummy. There is a bar in the back with beer and other drinks, milkshakes with alcohol or without. They bus the table after you are done eating. Place is very clean and staff is friendly. read more

We really enjoyed our visit to Moonlit Burgers! My friend and I went before a concert at PPG Paints, so it was pretty busy... the line was initially out the door. However, it went by really fast! My friend and I both ordered the classic moonlit double and split an order of the smash fries. We noticed the basket of fries were pretty large so we had planned on splitting them anyways. The burger was really good! Greasier than I would prefer but I still would order again. The smash fries were also delicious and we liked the cheese! We didn't realize we could sub chicken instead of the beef patty, or we would have done that. My friend also ordered the spicy Paloma drink, which she really liked! We hardly had to wait for our food and the workers were all incredibly nice. read more

Popped by after seeing a fun play at Duquesne University's Genesius Theatre. We literally just beat the hungry hordes that descended on the place before a PPG Paints Arena show. Line was out the door and every seat was taken within 30 minutes. There's a reason they wait in line for this food. It was seriously one of the juiciest, most flavorful and different burgers I have ever eaten. The edges of the Classic burger are this crunchy mouth bomb and the sautéed onions and sauce with the ooey gooey melted cheese just blows the top off of the whole deal. Their fries were good and hot too! Decent beer selection and killer cocktail list including boozy shakes. This place is amazing. read more

I am a burger lover, but don't usually love smash burgers as I find them too thin and easily overcooked. With that said -- these burgers were fabulous! The burger, the bun, the toppings, the sauce -- everything was perfect. The side of fries is really large (you can probably share them for two if you wish -- although, yes I ate them all myself lol!). The ice cream here is also really delicious. It is really top of line soft serve from Millie's. Super creamy and flavorful. It was worth trying to find a place to park in this semi-busy area (due to the university and arena), and I'll definitely come back again! read more

I had an amazing celiac-safe meal here! I got the bacon cheeseburger with a gluten-free bun, fries (from their dedicated fryer), and a caramel milkshake. My favorite GF burger in PGH! They took celiac safety seriously--clearly marking my order and even cleaning the milkshake machine before making mine. Celiac note: I was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2023 and have been on the hunt for safe and delicious gluten-free spots around Pittsburgh ever since. Everyone with celiac has different comfort levels when eating out, so I always recommend doing your own research and choosing what feels right for you. read more
Loved everything about this place. It is a great spot for a quick lunch or for some drinks and a burger on a night out. Great setup inside, which adds to the fun of the place. If you are looking for a classic, juicy burger, this is one of the best. They are very thin style here, but still so flavorful. I ordered the classic double with fries. It is one of the best smash type burgers I have ever had. Everything tasted so fresh and all of the ingredients were perfect together. Highly recommend! read more

Moonlit Burgers is just your good old fashioned fast food that leaves you satisfied yet craving something more! Upon entering, you encounter the ordering line. Once you place your order, you grab your number and choose a seat. Then, they find you and deliver your order to you! I LOVE this process. You don't have to balance all of your food on a tray while trying to find a seat and hope that there's one available. It's seemless and quick! We both had a smashburger with bacon and shared some fries, and everything was delicious! Everything that you could want in a burger joint! read more
I've been wanting to go here for a while, and i'm so glad I finally did!! The workers were super nice, and the vibe of the restaurant was great. I loved all the neon lights. I got the regular double cheeseburger, but I wish I got the bacon cheeseburger instead because the garlic sauce on it was SO GOOD. Definitely getting it next time. I also love the variety they have on the menu and the fact they have cocktails, wine, AND beer. It was also a nice surprise that they had millie's soft serve. We sat at the bar and watched the Pens game - it was a great location. I will 100% be back here. It was all super tasty for SUCH a reasonable price! That was probably the best part tbh. Love an affordable good time and yummy dinner. read more

I was really craving a burger so we decided to give Moonlit a try. We sat at the nearly empty bar and were quickly greeted, but there didn't seem to be much urgency to let us actually order anything. The manager ended up taking our food and drink orders because the bartender left the bar without even asking if we were ready for either. I had a couple of their cocktails and enjoyed both. The Equinox Daiquiri was the perfect end of summer drink and the strawberry mojito was good too. The food is presented without any frills but the classic double burger I got was really tasty, especially with the grilled onions and Moon sauce. I didn't enjoy the smash fries as much because I thought they were too saucy, but my boyfriend liked them a lot. The space itself is really cute and I think if I ever came back I would just order at the register and sit at a table instead of the bar. read more
