Well, if I didn't experience the second half of my meal there I'd have given five stars. The food was phenomenal! I had a super fluffy, fresh, egg white omelette with cheese, onions and tomatoes and the potato's were a nice surprise. I decided to forgo the toast and get one lemon ricotta pancake with blueberry compote, chefs kiss! Now for the bad part. I was only the second party to enter the restaurant around 8 am, I was killing time in the area while a family member was having surgery. I was also the first to use the ladies room and it clearly had not been cleaned from the day before. This should have been my first sign. While I sat enjoying my lo yummy food I overheard another guest complain about lipstick on the rim of her water glass. Now my stomach turned. My server was excellent and was tipped accordingly. I was excited to find this restaurant , since Allentown doesn't have many breakfast spots with cocktails. To my surprise it was not the cleanest establishment. There were bugs in my drink and hair in my food. The restaurant only comp'd my drink and no manager came to our table to address the situation. It was all left on our waitress, they kind of just brushed it off. Our waitress was nice she went to check out why and said the bugs were in the sprouts so it poured into my drink. She specifically said " no one would ever think to check that " ... but why wouldn't they? Why aren't you guys keeping them clean? I was so grossed out but I don't like to cause a scene. I'm not sure how this place got so many positive comments about the food. Maybe I'm just a food brat? We got 4 things: Huevos rancheros, ranchero short ribs hash, Monte Cristo, and chicken n waffles. Fried chicken in chicken n waffles was very dry and tasteless.. Couldnt finish it and didnt take it home. Same with the rancheros.. It's edible but not good. The raspberry sauce in Monte Cristo was good but it's mediocre otherwise. I would say service was good. The server checked on us to see if we need anything. My sister and brother in law have lived in the area for about 20 years and never visited Griddle 145. I am regularly at my sisters visiting and suggested we give it a try. The line and wait to get brunch on a Saturday was about 20 minutes. Prices were absolutely reasonable and the portions were plentiful. My sister really loved that you could buy ONE specialty pancake, and that it price was reflective of that (4.50 for 1 pancake, 9 for 2). She had the NOLA scramble and loved it. I had the Benedict and really enjoyed the balsamic on the tomato (only critique is the hollandaise needs more lemon! But I asked for slices of lemon and was brought 4 cold and juicy lemon slices so all was good!) they offer cold brew as well as cocktails and my sister couldn't wait to go back. read more

So many delicious things on the menu. I always go for the eggs Benedict. I got the one with balsamic tomatoes and smoked bacon. Balsamic made the English muffin so soggy that it was inedible, and the hollandaise sauce was extremely runny. The bacon wasn't crispy either. Don't get that menu item. I don't understand why this place gets so many positive reviews. It's a converted diner with a pretentious menu. It resides in a horrible spot of town. Service was ok... nothing exceptional. I ordered the Chicken fried steak and received bland cardboard with a ton of country gravy on top. There was a weird lingering smell..... like stale "something" which let me know the staff doesn't know how to clean the place and the management is (in my opinion) too busy trying to seduce the young gals instead of actually managing them. Let's put it this way: I'd be interested to see their scorecard from the state health inspection board. I wouldn't recommend this place and will not be returning. Don't get me wrong.... everyone was friendly and kind.....the food just wasn't even worth taking a shower for let alone driving to the establishment. Sunday brunch was busy but our server never let it affect her high quality promptness and friendliness to assist us with having a wonderful time there. Although the restaurant decor is nice, the place is smaller than those typical typical chain diner like IHOP. I ordered my breakfast: 2 eggs, toast, potatoes and bacon for $6.95, which was large size portion and tasted good. I also tried the coconut banana French toast. It was delicious and I'll recommend a must try! They have coconut shreds in the French toast with banana slices and powdered white sugar on top and whipped butter on the side and syrup for those sweet tooth lovers.
