Stopped by this diner to grab a quick bite while in the area. The hostess was amazing nice pleasant and asked what exactly we wanted. After being seated quickly and being served quickly food came out quickly. The restaurant was busy but still super fast. Ordered the California French toast it was great, eggs , and home fries cooked to perfection. Great portions and Coffee was great and the price was right on target. Walked in at 8:12 pm we were greeted and told they were shutting down, the sign clearly states they're open till 9:00 pm, either the sign has to change or the staff has to be told not to turn customers away 48 minutes before closing. Very disappointed. read more

This was my second breakfast here and unfortunately it wasn't as good this time so there isn't consistency to the food and probably depends on who is cooking. The place is clean and the servers are so friendly that it makes me really want to like this place so I will be returning to give it another try next time I'm in town. My Dad was in the mood for sausage gravy and biscuits and its not in the menu but when he asked our server (I really wish I could remember her name) she said they have it most days just not on the menu. His dish came out and the gravy really lacked flavor but he was OK with it after adding some pepper. I just had eggs with home fries (a little too greasy for me) with creamed chipped beef (again no taste) with a side of bacon Since I've been here for breakfast before and that one seemed really good I think the problem here might be which person is behind the grill. I would still give it another shot and will keep you posted...here's hoping! read more

Bad food, bad service. Before dinner: This restaurant's website clearly says they close at 10pm. When I arrive, at 8:35, the permanent sign on the door says they close at 9pm. A second sign asks me to wait for seating. No service personnel are visible. I picked up a paper menu from a stack sitting on the bar. Waited 10 minutes. The restaurant was empty except for a morbidly obese person sitting in the back on some sort of orthopedic device, and a man in a suit, in a booth. I was greeted by the busboy. He greeted me by saying they close at 9, and that salad bar and the daily soup are not available. He then noticed that I was looking at a menu, and proceeded to tell me that nothing on that menu was available either. He seated me with the "correct" menu at the closest possible booth, next to the suit. In a restaurant large enough for 100 patrons, there was no way I was sitting next to him, so I picked up the menu and asked if I could sit further down. The busboy grunted. The waitress greeted me by saying they close in 10 minutes, and that the soup and the salad bar were no longer available. She took the paper part of the menu, which was identical to the part I found on the bar, out of my hands, saying, curtly, that this was not available either. I inquired about a seafood platter. The waitress said promptly, are you sure you want to have that? We close in ten minutes. Also, she repeated, the soup and the salad won't come with that, because they are closed.. Then I asked about the burger, mentioning that perhaps it would be faster. The buger is 695, whereas the seafood platter I was interested in was 16 dollars. The waitress paused in dissapointment, but said "yes, we have the burger" The burger I ordered was not impossible to eat. It was cooked to the correct medium rare that I ordered, and the vegetables were fresh. The patty was square. It was like I was eating a Wendy's burger. The fries were crisp and newly fried. Overall, the meal was not untasty and it was fairly priced. I would rather go to Borderline Restaurant than Wendy's. 2 minutes after I started with the burger, the waitress returned and said "This is where I ask you how the burger was". This is the part where I said it was okay. This restaurant is exactly what it's name entails. It is a restaurant that reflects more negatively on it's management than it's staff. The cook is not actually that bad, nor was the waitress badly intentioned, but the people are not trained to properly treat their guests well. Most restaurants close far later than their closing time. This is because people come towards the end, and they sit for a while. The staff has not been aware of this, and the management does not care enough to make sure their clients are well cared for. They don't even care what the name of the restaurant is - no one in their right mind names their restaurant the "borderline" restaurant. Even though Wendy's burger isn't as tasty, I'd rather go there than be treated like a piece of crap. read more

We went to the Borderline for breakfast and the food was passable at best. We both ordered omlettes and they were completely dry and devoid of much taste. I got the gyro omlettes and while it was nicely studded with the gyro meat, I had to pile on the tzatziki sauce it came with to give it any flavor. The toast was dry. The home fries were the best thing on the plate, but even they were nothing above ordinary. The decor of the place looks like it hasn't been updated since the early 90's. The one saving grace this place has and was worth a second star is the service. The service is always friendly and prompt. Food has a home cooked taste and is either hot off the grille or baking, or cold when it should be. Restrooms spotless. Major improvement over the previous Perkins at this location. Super nice staff, fresh, large portions and homemade food (really like the soups) and really fair prices. It seems to appeal to an older crowd (you will occasionally be dodging wheelchairs in the aisles) but it's a really solid choice for lunch. We haven't been here for dinner. There's TV's always on, which is a little odd for a place that isn't a bar - but it's usually just news. We've liked everything we've had here, although I'm not crazy about the limited salad bar so I usually skip it. It's a regular spot for lunch. Try the chicken gyro, my fave. read more

Honestly, it's more of a diner than a restaurant, quite reminiscent of a Perkin's, but it does qualify as such. I'm a regular here and will remain one. I've only had breakfast and lunch here and can only speak to that. The food is always good, plenty of parking, the staff is wonderfully attentive - even when packed to the gills! If they had V8 and grits, I wouldn't go to any other diner. I always tip according to the service, and ALWAYS tip 20%. It's a very decent place! Highly recommended! read more

What do you get when you combine a refurbished Perkins and a name that implies unsafe food handling practices? The Borderline Restaurant! Actually, not sure what they were going with when they named the place. But anyway, the breakfasts here are great and their homefries are decently crispy instead of soggy like a lot of other places. Their lunch sandwiches are pretty good but I think their dinner entree selection needs a little work. Someone in my party tried the roast turkey and it was a pale shade of green. But on the other hand someone had the chicken parm platter and the marinara sauce was very well spiced and not acidic at all. The prices are also more than fair. The owner also knows how to keep customers satisfied. He always greets me and my family and comes by to see how things are going at our table. Once in a while he'll give us a complementary pastry just for the heck of it. Overall I think the service here is pretty good. Hmmmm.... maybe the name is a Madonna joke? I would have gone with "Don't Cry for Me Argentina." Thank me in advance and name your restaurant "Oh what a circus, oh what an omelet platter." read more

To give an idea of the ambience, this is a fairly low-end decor place with bright lighting frequented by the area's older population. We went for breakfast and weren't impressed at all. The food was edible considering the cheap price, but I wouldn't give it any more credit. The breakfast sandwich my gf ordered was too soggy to even be palatable and had to be sent back. It was seriously wet. The second sandwich was better, but only just enough. I ordered the cinnamon apple french toast, which was better but nothing special at all. The "cinnamon apple" was actually just canned apple pie filling dumped on mediocre French toast. I don't know where or if there were any actual cinnamon in it. I also had some eggs, which were bland. I was also served hash browns (which I didn't order), and they were severely under-seasoned and IMO under-cooked. If you're from out of town, this is not a place to go. If you're local and there's no where else open or close-by, I guess you could do ok. read more
