    All for less than $10

Traditional breakfast at it's finest. Everything was cooked to order, and executed perfectly. Everything has great taste, and I couldn't find one thing that I would have done differently myself. Coffee was fresh, tasty and filled regularly. The Coca-Cola out of the fountain was probably some of the best fountain Coke I have had anywhere lately. The Creamed Chipped Beef was the star of the show. Service was very nice and friendly, I am not from this area, and I was comfortable.

    All this for $6.30. WOW!!!!

Very reasonable prices, and good selection of breakfast options. Plus you get a ringside seat for all the trains going by.

The bartender, Ronny, has great service, fun, inviting, remembers his customers, and always ensures you have what you need. I have tried both their breakfast and lunch and have not been disappointed. For this specific visit, I was here for dinner visiting Ronny and I ordered their Broiled Stuffed Trio. Seafood stuffed Icelandic haddock, mushrooms, and shrimp. The fish was moist and flakey, the shrimp tender, and the mushrooms plump and juicy. The seafood filling they used tasted like a mix between a crabcake and crab dip. There was too much for my taste on the shrimp and mushrooms, so I scraped some off and reserved it to eat later as a snack with ritz crackers. The meal also came with the soup and salad bar where there were a variety of soups to chose from, and everything in the salad bar was fresh and crisp. Currently rated at a 7.2 on my Beli, I enjoy this place for the food and budget friendly meals, but also for the excellent service that Ronny always provides.

Kayleigh was there, like last time, and she was just great! Service and food here is really excellent. I had the salad bar again, it was the same items plus some surprises, like a Russian salad and pickled beets, yummy! The soups were chicken pasta, split pea, and pepper pot. The ladies were great about finding out ingredients. I got to meet the owner! He's a great guy, too. Just an overall warm, welcoming, relaxing place. They're close to motels and hotels, so there are people from all over stopping by, and there are lots of regulars who are hooked. You can tell why. You feel like it's another era. Lots of free parking. Salad bar food was fresh and delicious. Nice to smell freshly brewed coffee.

Here are some of the reasons for our disappointment: 1. Hospitality is significantly lacking! There is little to no warmth of personality in the workers. No smiles no guidance for taking orders of someone who professes it's their first time visiting. No one followed up to see if we wanted to or needed anything else after our food was received. They didn't even bother asking if everything was okay. Customer service has no personality nor a dedication to excellence. 2. To order/pay/ attain a menu, you must navigate and stand in line on steps which will be difficult for customers who may have disabilities or mobility difficulties. 3. High chairs are stored in the bathroom along with the toilet and other items for storage. This is quite disgusting as when toilets are flushed, particles are sprayed into the air and then will come to rest on the high chairs where patrons put their children to eats. Gross. 4. I specifically asked during the placement of my order if the sausage was spicy/peppery and was told "no", so I ordered it, only to have both myself and the other person in our party agree that it was spicy/had a kick. No syrup was provided either. 5. The toast was so hard it was like a rock and I never was provided with the jam that is clearly indicated on our receipt, and I was charged an additional fee for- nor did anyone come over to check on us or offer to bring it. Again poor service! 6. The floors and displays were dusty and boasted cobwebs. Observing staff clearing plates from tables I noticed that tables and chairs were not wiped/sanitized between customers. There are additional concerns we had about our first visit here, but I'm sure you get the idea. It is extremely rare that I leave poor reviews, but this one stood out and can't be overlooked. Just highly disappointed and I would never recommend this place, except for maybe a coffee to go, but nothing more. Save your time and money and visit elsewhere to avoid wasting it and leaving in a state of disappointment.

When getting a pancake know that it will be the size of your whole plate... so go with only one. Our favorite pancake is blueberry, chocolate chip!! Yummmy! They offer regular or cinnamon butter for your pancake. I usually get the veggie omelette with their spicy sausage patties on the side. Their sausage patties are the real deal, NOT the commercial style junk you can get elsewhere. My husband usually gets the Denver omelette. He loves the type of cheese they use in it, and the omelet has a nice kick with the jalapeños added. My friend enjoyed the spicy road block omelet. Their omelets are a good size, they come with your choice of potatoes, and toast. Another suggestion if you REALLY have an appetite is the cowboy or cowgirl special! Or just take half of it home for breakfast tomorrow. :) When they serve you tea they give you a nice size teapot to fill your cup. I love it! The restaurant itself is a local, hometown feel. The prices are reasonable in my book. The service is friendly and service oriented. We drive about 35 minutes just to go here, and it NEVER disappoints! The atmosphere, so cute with interesting history. The saloon is a bit small but nice. The bar had approximately 12 seats but they also have four or five high tops in the room. We sat at one of the high tops because the bar was full when we got there. They have a few tv's throughout the bar. The ladies bathroom could use to be updated but it certainly is horrible. The dining room area seemed a little underwhelming. That said there were a lot of people dining so people must like it. My husband and I prefer cozy pub areas. Our bartender greeted us immediately. Even though his bar was full he came right over, said hello, cleaned our table, set the table, and brought our drinks. That was a great start. He was very attentive. If you've read any of my other reviews, you will notice the theme...great service is so super important to me. This place did not disappoint. We ordered Jim Beam and Diets doubles, they were definitely stiff pours which was perfect. My husband ordered the Prime Rib Haus (beef sandwich) with hand cut fries. He cleaned his plate. That said, he said that could've given him more au jus. No problem there, he could've asked for more if he needed it. He also mentioned that he felt the beef had a bit of a frozen taste. The reason he thought that is because they only make prime rib Friday and Saturday. He didn't think he got the fresh prime rib, perhaps it was last weekend's frozen leftover. He would order something different next time. I ordered the Filet Mignon burger. I really enjoyed my burger. The caramelized onions and mushrooms were yummy. The burger was cooked perfectly. The hand cut fries were very good. My only issue was they were called peppercorn Parmesan fries. I assumed they would have peppercorn Parmesan sprinkled on them. They actually had a peppercorn Parmesan dressing drizzled over them. I would get regular fries next time. So...overall we had a very nice experience. We will definitely be back. I would recommend checking them out. Thank you Bowers Hotel for a lovely evening!

Bowers is famous for its hot pepper fest, but the hotel remains true to local Pennsylvania Dutch fare. It's quaint, historic and has the best homemade desserts. After our first meal there my partner asked if I was interested in dessert. I said, I was craving something coconut. He laughed and said they won't have anything like that. Well they had 3, coconut pie, coconut cake and coconut pudding which was delicious and more like cake. That sealed the deal for me, so here we are back again. I started with a cocktail which is rare for me. The Brandy Daisy was delightfully refreshing. I had the special grilled cheese. A spectacular creation starting with brioche, spread with pesto, layered with ham, bacon, cheddar, lettuce and tomato. I declined the egg which would have been too much for me. The house made chips were thick and crisp and seasoned really well. Partner had the schnitzel (I got his salad). The mashed potatoes were oddly brown. But quite delicious as was the veal, I had to taste both. We were fat and happy so we had to take dessert to go. Coconut walnut cake was moist and delicious packed with all the goodies. Buttercream iced 3 layer chocolate reminded me of my Pop Pop's. It was late, there were only 2 other tables so we had all the attention we needed. Starting to notice a growing disparity between cost and quality. This was a fine meal for the price, nearly equal to the one the night before which cost twice as much. So I included the bill

Both times, those in our party selected different menu options and have been pleased with their choices. The portions, prices, and quality are all very good and encourage future visits. While the floors could use some sweeping, the place is otherwise quite nice. Prices do have a service fee attached if you choose to use a credit card/debit card as payment in lieu of cash. They do seem to encourage people to pay via cash and do have an ATM on site. (Which to me defeats the purpose if ATMs have fees attached too...) I would suggest giving this place a try.
