I LOVED this place. We got her around 3 so they were only doing their lunch menu as dinner starts at 4. We got the sour watermelon margarita and a coconut lemonade mojito-my mojito was missing the mint but was still good. We got the short rib nachos, a BLT burger with hand cut fries fried in beef tallow and a BBQ Burger with poutine! The burgers were absolutely delicious. The playlist was great. I felt completely deceived by this place after looking it up online. The menu was different from what I'd seen, and the food definitely didn't live up to the glowing reviews. We went here for Sunday brunch and I ordered the Barman's Breakfast, and it was honestly pretty blah -- the hash browns and cheese sauce were extremely salty, which threw off the entire dish. Everything from the presentation to the actual food was disappointing. I ended up leaving most of it. They also advertise themselves as dog-friendly, but that turned out to be false in our case. We had two small pups in our group who weren't allowed in, and since the patio was closed, some of our group had to wait outside and skip the meal entirely. We tried asking the hostess multiple times, but no luck. To make things worse, my friend, a vegetarian, ordered a salad clearly marked as vegetarian, only to find bacon pieces in it. The server replaced it but wasn't remotely apologetic about the mistake. We got some truffle fries for the table that were burnt to a crisp and extremely oily. Wouldn't have imagined that they can't even get a plate of fries right, but I should have guessed after wasting the hash browns on my plate. Overall, it was just a really disappointing experience. Our server asked if we wanted burgers pink or no pink and those options really don't work when I like medium. Anyhow, the side salad's dressing of a light balsamic was a good choice. The only downside was that roll arrived charred on both sides from the oil on flat top? Or from some type of butter/oleo. The beef was good quality. The mushrooms were meaty, the cheese melted nicely. The fries in the poutine were wilted and probably re-purposed from previous day by adding gravy and cheese curds to top. $7 up charge in addition to $17 burger cost. This place was awesome! Was traveling through PA while visiting family and found this spot! The vibe here was really cool with all the plants in the dining area. The cocktails here were great and the food was phenomenal! We started with the Bad Farms Cheese Curds, which tasted like funnel cake infused cheese curds. For our mains, my wife got the Mushroom French Dip and I got the Truffle Shuffle. Both were excellent. Finally, we decided to try the Earl Grey Creme Brulee. This creme brulee was so good I will be craving forever! The service here was great and we'd definitely come back next time we pass through the area. We're always on the search for great places that are vegetarian friendly and this checked all the boxes! It seems like they also have a nice private room for events, which would probably be great based on the food at drinks we had. After our GPS gave us the runaround we finally found it and were very happy we did! The restaurant is in an old mill and there's a coffee shop in it as well as a brand new gift shop in the front of the building. There were beautiful plants hanging all around- made for a nice atmosphere. We were seated fairly quickly but then no one waited on us . After our server realized no one had waited on us she took over and did a great job. I think they are most likely short of help - like everyone else! We started with cocktails- I had a very lovely espresso martini and my husband had a bourbon pineapple smash. Both were quite good. We shared a Mediterranean salad that was delicious- it had a lemon mint vinaigrette that was amazing. He got the pork picatta that was really tasty. do not book any kind of event here!! My fiance and I planned our microwedding here and were originally so excited to use the beautiful private event room with the rustic/farmhouse vibes. Unfortunately there were too many issues for us to feel safe hosting our big day here. The first part of the process was fine, they have many stipulations such as 100$/hr additional fee for moving tables as well as no outside drinks (these were listed in the event packet so I understood that). I had drove by the hofford mill back in September of 2025 and saw a "for sale" sign on it. I emailed the gorge to ask if this would affect our wedding in ANY WAY, they said no. I requested a call from the event coordinator a few months later (Feb) to iron final details out - in conversation she told me that the building had been purchased and that they were replacing all the tables/chairs, adding a window possibly, and possibly painting. This would completely alter the "vibe" of our wedding venue. This made my fiance and I feel extremely stressed and upset since we had already paid the deposit and finished our invites with all the info for the gorge on it for our guests. I emailed them and asked for a refund of our $500 deposit and listed the reasons as to why. They emailed back telling me that there were "no material changes to the venue, management, or your event reservation that would affect the function or availability of the space for your event." And refused the refund of our full amount stating that the wedding packet we originally got said non refundable... it didn't (see below images) I also had another packet and brochure from them, none of which said non-refundable. There also was NO CONTRACT, so no legal reason to hold the money. They offered a $250 refund as a goodwill gesture, however I explained that personally I believe we should still get our full refund due to the fact that no services were rendered and I did my due diligence in asking if anything would change from the sale of the building and they said no months ago. Very stressful and upsetting, has made the wedding planning process harder than it needed to be. read more

5/14/22 let me just say that my GPS had a hell of a time trying to find this place, and unfortunately the exterior of the building doesn't have great signage but what you will see is a sign pointing to the parking lot off of the main road, Bridge Street. My GPS kept taking me around in circles and I was ready to give up and I was actually on my way home and then I finally saw the parking lot. I'm glad I decided to turn around and pull in because it was a great experience. I've been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while I have an Instagram page where I have no friends, I just follow businesses and things that I'm interested in and Gorge is one of those places. And even though I don't drink I was really struck by the innovative and creative drinks that I've seen pictured on Gorge's Instagram. The food always looks so delicious when they show the weekend specials. I had made a reservation for a few weeks ago but unfortunately there was a family emergency and I had to cancel that reservation. Since I was in the area I thought it was a great time to try Gorge and I don't typically like to go to restaurants during peak time, so we went at around 4 PM. My husband and I opted to sit at the bar because we feel that you usually get better service at the bar as opposed to a table in our experiences. The bartender Lindsay was awesome! It was evident how much she really genuinely loved her job and she was very friendly and personable. I like the fact that she took pride in the restaurant and the food. When I requested suggestions she was very happy to direct me. I could tell that she was honest and I got a really good feeling from her. Another girl we were speaking to behind the bar was named Mariah and she was very sweet and kind. These girls made our experience highly excellent. We truly felt welcome thanks to their hospitality. It wasn't easy to make a decision on what to order because everything looked so mouthwatering we good. For an appetizer we opted to get the Irish eggrolls I chose that because I thought my husband would really like that a lot because of the brisket and sauerkraut that was in there. I really enjoyed it ask for the garlic aïoli sauce to enhance the flavor. Lindsay,our server and bartender, recommended the garlic aïoli sauce and it was stupendous I really thoroughly enjoyed this appetizer it was so good. My husband chose the French dip special that was really delicious it was served on a flatbread, almost like a Panini style with plenty of au jus. I chose something I typically would never order and it was a chicken sandwich called the Mac Millionaire. It was a delicious chunk of breaded chicken breast that was topped with macaroni and cheese onion straws which really seems like homemade fried onion rings, and some barbecue sauce. It was absolutely phenomenal we both enjoyed our sandwiches tremendously. I couldn't resist dessert, so I ordered their special puff pastry with blueberry compote and vanilla ice cream. The vanilla ice cream was from BAD Farms, that is the name of that business in Kempton. The one thing I learned is that this restaurant likes to feature local favorites, like that special ice cream I mentioned. They feature beers from local breweries, and they also offer wines from nearby Jim Thorpe. I love that pride in the community. The restaurant is within what used to be an old Silk Mill and there are some other businesses in there as well such as an ax throwing place (make reservations) and a coffee shop called uncommon grounds. Apparently there is some sort of a hostel where people can stay over if they're in the area enjoying the bike trails, I don't know much about the other businesses. I really can't wait to go back and I'm super excited to bring my family back to this wonderful establishment and I hope I am lucky enough to get a chance to sit with Lindsey and Mariah again. A resounding five star review!! If I could give 10 stars I would. The food quality, the service, the personality of our bartenders/servers, and the atmosphere is simply beautiful. I do think they grow their own spices and possibly some of their vegetables? But don't quote me on that. I saw quite a few plants being grown that I think were herbs or some kind of seasonings. The exterior of the building does no justice to the restaurant's interior. It is really beautiful it's sleek, modern, and clean. We stopped here twice on our weekend trip to Jim Thorpe, once on a Friday afternoon for a couple beers at the bar and once for Saturday night dinner with reservations. It was definitely a lot more relaxing and laid back with 4 of us at the bar on Friday afternoon. We were the only ones at the bar and most of the tables were empty. The bartender was very nice and answered all of our questions with a smile on her face. I had a couple different beers which I enjoyed and the drinks looked phenomenal. A few people in our party ordered chicken sandwiches which they enjoyed (big and very crispy). The cheese curds were drizzled with honey and were also very good. Our dinner experience, at least to me, felt rushed and more hectic. It was busy. I ordered a brisket sandwich with topped with Mac and cheese. The brisket was phenomenal but the Mac and cheese didn't really do it for me and the rye bread was not toasted at all. I'd absolutely get the brisket again on a different sandwich instead of with the Mac and cheese. The nachos were huge and looked (and tasted great). The margarita was also really good and instead of simple syrup they sweeten it with maple syrup (loved this) which made it rich. The house made jumbo tater tots were actually great. I'm not a big tots person but these were very worth ordering. The drinks also looked very good but small for the price. Overall our service was good both nights. I'd come back here but probably would avoid for dinner. I'd much rather come back to relax and sit at the bar. One last thing I found to be extremely odd. We needed to make a $100 deposit for our reservation on Saturday night which is fine, but we were told we'd only be refunded the deposit if we give the waitress a slip (they gave us upon arrival) at the end of dinner prior to paying the bill. My family and I stumbled across The Gorge on our way through the Poconos and had a great time. Our server, Angela, was incredibly well versed in the menu and very friendly. She took my dad's corny jokes like a champ and remained nice and helpful the whole night. The food was marvelous and definitely surpassed our expectations for what Lehighton/Weissport area had to offer. I got the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and loved it. They were generous with the chicken, the sauce was great, and the bread was fitting. I was also curious about their mac-n-cheese menu and ordered the pork mac and cheese. I was surprised at how much I liked it. Pork and Mac n Cheese doesn't isn't necessarily a natural pairing, but The Gorge made it work! On our drive back home from a golf trip up in PA we had brunch at this bright peaceful quaint restaurant located adjacent to the Lehigh River in Weissport PA. It is located inside The Hofford Mill, which also has a coffee bar and a bike rental shop. The restaurant sales plants as well. The menu was a la carte and prices were a little expensive because you had to order your sides separately. We ordered a chicken sandwich, monte cristo sándwich deep fried in pancake batter with strawberry compote (a first for me), and we shared poutine fries. Everything was delicious. To drink, I ordered a glass of house rosé and a peachy juicy mocktail. We sat at the bar and had wonderful service. The ambiance has a laidback vibe. Was in town for a Penn's Peak show and stopped here. Very nice ambiance and great service. The food was good but, a la carte. Thinking a $12-15 sandwich should come with fries or chips instead of $4 more for a small fry order. Also, a Tom Collins style glass full of lemonade should not be $7! Crazy. If you're headed to a show at Penn's Peak, eat there. They have a nice restaurant with some good choices on the menu. They also have a bar area which has some nice views. Located in a small town right off a major highway, the Gorge offers just enough if you're in a pinch. Funny enough, while I am not from the area and this was my first time, I happened to visit on a Friday night when they were debuting new menus. The place was decently crowded and the restaurant has a ton of plants that give it a natural homey vibe. The place was clean, modern, and had nice bathrooms as well. My only complaint was that it was cold enough inside for me to keep my winter jacket on for most of the time which sucked, need to turn up the heat! (it was probably 20 degrees outside that night). Anyways, after waiting 30 minutes after ordering we got our mushroom crostini as an appetizer and it was pretty solid, had great flavor and texture. Then after another 15-30 minutes our entrees arrived. I saw some decent reviews regarding their tater tots so I chose them as a side, they were slightly undercooked/cold and had almost no flavor to them, I would not recommend. It was our second option because the restaurant we wanted to go to in Jim Thorpe was packed but I'm so glad that was the case because we loved this place! First of all the decor is gorgeous, you walk in and it's like you have stepped into a greenhouse, so many different plants and fairy lights. The staff was very friendly, we came in without a reservation but they were able to get us seated quickly as we came in at an odd time. For drinks, I got the Mango in the Coconut Mojito ($11) which was sweet and refreshing, the dried mango garnish was also a delicious touch. Ryan got an old fashioned that he said was really good. We got an appetizer of the Bad Farm Cheese Curds ($13) because we could not resist and I'm so glad we did because they were the best cheese curds I've had anywhere. The batter was light and crispy, like a tempura batter instead of a heavy breading, and the rosemary infused maple syrup was a perfect complement and added a nice sweetness. I got the Irishman Burger ($13) for my entree it wasn't the best burger but it was still good. They give you the option to get it pink or no pink. I ordered it pink but there wasn't really any pink in the burger at all but it wasn't dry, which is good. The candied bacon on it was delicious and I loved the egg twist bun that they used it tasted like a brioche. Ryan got the Mediterranean Chicken ($21) for his entree. The chicken was so soft and tender and the cold couscous salad was very flavorful and made it the perfect dish for summer. We then ended with dessert, we got the Raspberry Lemon Trifle ($8). They soaked the lady fingers in elderflower liquor and you could for sure taste it, this is not a kid friendly dessert. But the raspberry filling was delicious and you could tell they used fresh raspberries to make it. We really loved this place and would come back for the cheese curds alone. My fiancé, and I came here on a Sunday. We were sat down, and it took a while for our waiter to come around, but he let us know that they had a waiter call out so they were short staffed. Totally understandable. We ordered our drinks and he brought those to us then we ordered our food. Our French toast sticks, which were delicious, came out pretty quickly. The rest of our food took close to an hour to come out. We actually had somewhere else to be so we ended up asking our waiter for boxes so that we could pack up our food once it was brought to our table. So as far as the French toast sticks there, delicious, the service from our waiter was fine, however, the service from the kitchen left a lot to be desired. We received no apology or anything at that moment. I later got a phone call from Brittany who left a voicemail apologizing for what it happened and saying she wanted to rectify it and some thing about the charge to our card, but the voicemail cut out. I tried to call back two times and nobody picked up. We were never given any sort of refund or anything. I ended up not calling back again because it really isn't about the money, it's about the service or lack their of. But if you do happen to come here, order the French toast sticks. I will try to convey my level of extreme disappointment in this place as best I can. I'm not a huge fan of giving scathing reviews but this place left me seething with anger. Flavor wise it was good but the portion was ridiculously small. I guess this is supposed to be "fine dining" but is NOT on par with fine dining. More like a meager diner special. I mean I know I need to lose a bit of weight but this was just way too small. But my mother's dish was the one that sent me over the moon. I was taking her out for Mother's Day and her meal was absolutely terrible and completely unacceptable. She got steak and a hasselback potato. The steak was ordered medium and you couldn't cut or chew it. It looked like 3 or four knots of beef. Very small portion and it was inedible. The potato wasn't cooked completely, basically raw. I had my friend also try it to be sure I wasn't just being b*tchy. No butter, oil or spice. Just a plain, dry, half raw potato sliced hassle back style. I was beside myself. I very rarely complain in restaurants though if I'm unhappy I'll be a bit passive aggressive about it. This had me full on p*ssed. Our server was a perfectly nice young woman and I expressed my extreme dissatisfaction with the meal. She offered to see if she could comp it but I ate my meal and I wasn't looking good for a free ride. But again my mother's meal was inedible. When she came back she said she felt she had to give us something and she took 3 dollars off (for the freakin potato...I mean seriously?!?) She did offer us a free dessert but I wasn't interested. The management should have offered an apology or came out to speak with us. We got nothing. The people behind us had the steak dinner and I could see there was some concern over it. When we were leaving my mom was walking over to ask them about their meal but I pulled her away. $122! without tip for this! Ugh. We tipped the waitress $20 cash but I refused to tip more than that. It was a hard pill to swallow. On our way out, my friend overheard another patron complaining to a server or manager saying her meal was terrible. Awful! Just an awful experience and a real bummer for my mom. I guess this place shines more for its bar favorites like cheese curds and chicken nachos. Wish we would have known this before forking over 150 bucks. Sad. Fine dining this was NOT. read more
