We love this place ! The staff is friendly, accurate , and provide great service. All the food I have ever had from this establishment, I have enjoyed ! My boyfriend's favorite is the pull pork sandwich. I love how this is a diner that you can grab a quick bite, feel warm and welcomed in the restaurant and not to mention the desserts !!! It's your average diner. The food was delicious, and this place is open 24-hrs. It's a good place to go when you're tired of Denny's as your go to drunk night food. They give large portions so there is no feeling cheated for the prices which are not horrible. They only serve breakfast in the middle of the night so be aware you can't get a burger at 4am. Made a random pit stop for some food on a road trip and happened to stumble across this place. It said gyros in neon lights and it's been awhile since I've had a good gyro so I gave it a go! Now, they had 2 options for the gyro, the regular kind and the "authentic" kind. I chose the authentic because why fake gyro, right? Gyro: After a short wait time, it was the moment of judgement; if you put a neon sign that says "gyro" on an American diner, it must be pretty frickin' awesome! I stared at it's mass, this was a large gyro. Taking that first bite was ... truly heavenly! The pita was warm, the meat was tender and juicy, crisp lettuce and a savory sauce. This was a well crafted gyro that I haven't had in a long time! I'm sad that I live far away from here that I won't be able to enjoy this beauty again in a long time! Locals, you are lucky this is here and should come for this gyro! Fries: The fries were really delicious as well! Medium thickness and a crispy/crunchy exterior; yes, the outside is somewhere in between crispy/crunchy. Chicken panini: Now, after I finished my wonderful gyro, I tried a bite of my brother's sandwich since he was already full. I really wish I had not and left with the taste of gyro. The panini was very plain in flavor and highly disappointing. With grilled peppers, it tasted only like a pepper sandwich. No taste from the cheese or chicken.... The bread was nice and toasted but if I came for bread, I would go to a bakery. 3-stars because despite a phenomenal gyro, I tasted a very disappointing sandwich and it makes me question the rest of the food on the menu. Is the gyro really the only good thing they have? Is that why they specifically made a sign for it? I would come back again if I could. Was looking for a local restaurant when in Dickson City... Would rather try a mom and pop than a chain. Saw the mixed bag reviews on Yelp but always a sucker for a good diner so decided to give it a try. Hostess sat us and took our drink order and was real sarcastic when hubs asked for a dew (as in mountain dew? You people aren't from around here, are you?!) But our server was sweet, attentive, and accommodating. Food was decent. Definitely not worthy of the poor reviews I've read. Hubs had a gyro and pierogi's and I had a panini with real roasted turkey, cheese, and cranberry sauce and fries. Menu is extensive!!!! Hard to decide what to order! Every plate I saw coming out asking with our own.... You will not go away hungry, I promise! We ordered a variety of dishes for our family of four including Chicken Franchises, a Hamburger on Pretzel Bun, a Chicken Parmigiana with Mozzarella and sauce. And a Trio Open Faced Sandwich Platter. Everything we ordered was basic, flavorful, well cooked and reasonably priced. It came quickly and hot to the table. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The soups were basic but yummy. Mediocre. Friendly, efficient service, clean enough, and good coffee. Ordered an egg white omelette which was good, hash browns were very bland, toast did not look like wheat bread that I had requested. BF ordered open-faced roast beef. Meal was very salty, meat was overdone and veggies were obviously from a can (pale, soggy & overcooked). We're traveling through so would not stop back again, well maybe just for dessert. They looked wonderful in the display and the hostess said they are homemade. We stopped in for breakfast and had the most amazing pancakes! I also had the bacon which was perfectly cooked, toast which was nicely toasted, eggs over medium which were perfect, and homefries that were delicious. Oh yea, and the coffeee was great! Awful customer service at night. Phone is often off the hook like tonight when I called 66 time and it was busy. I drove there on my lunch break at 2:06 a.m. and mentioned that their phone is probably off the hook and the host smiled and said she was sorry but yes it was. I placed my order and drove 10 minutes back to work and my fries were room temp. cold and my gravy was the same. When I called to talk to someone I was disregarded. The Silver Spoon in Clarks Summit is owned by the same people and service there is ALWAYS friendly. read more

Darn good diner! I stop by occasionally for breakfast or late night when friends are in town and don't feel like cooking. It is owned by a Greek family and the Greek dishes are very good. Portions are massive and satisfying. The restaurant itself is a little grimey, but for a 24 hour diner, this is to be expected. Late night waitstaff is awesome! They know you've probably been at a bar all night and they don't mind if you're a little loud and rowdy. Very funny to and truly seem to enjoy what they're doing when most late night servers typically seem disgusted and annoyed. Most importantly, don't use the pictures on the menu as a decision maker. The lighting is horrible, colors are off and everything looks inedible. Whoever they hired to take these pictures should have their camera confiscated. read more

My boyfriend and I were hungry and just wanted to get bacon egg and cheese sandwiches to go. Now, I'm from New York and they cost ruffle btw. 3-4 bucks. We walk in and order our sandwiches with coffee and wait for about 20 mins for our order. I thought, it's PA people are more laid back so I didn't make a fuss. My boyfriend pays $29.00 for 2 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches on a croissant and 2 coffees! We think maybe they forgot we didn't want a deluxe and left it alone. As we drove off I noticed they gave us two sloppy looking egg and onion sandwiches on a croissant with potato chips on the side! We drove back so they can correct our order. When we walk in , the older woman behind the counter rolls her eyes and asks what happened. She acts like she handled it and hen we wait another 15 mins. Long story short they messed up again! We check the order and realized it took them 15 mins to cook bacon and throw it on the egg sandwiches with onions we originally had! At this point I get so frustrated that we spent 23.99 plus he left a $6.00 tip the first time around and we have to deal with this. I ask for a refund and give back the food and the old woman tells me she can't refund me! I demand to speak to a manager and this lovely young blonde woman apologizes and gives us a refund. Never again will we ever come here !!! We later went to The Backyard Ale House, a few minutes away, and had an awesome brunch. Bacon egg ham and cheese on a pretzel bread bagel with delicious home fries and you have the choice of a Bloody Mary, mimosa or beer included. All for under $30!!! While visiting a friend in ScrANton Viewmont Diner was one stop on the list. My rating says it all. I'd stay with sandwiches and if you're a carnivore try the burgers but the rest is frankly out of a frozen box (go figure). The potatoes with the eggs were dry and undercooked, although they did have big chunks of onion in them (love that) but the onion was unfortunately not cooked enough (hate that). My friend said we had to go to another place (tbd ...later) that I shouldn't rule out Scranton for good home style eats. She had a dish sandwich and although she ate it, I wouldn't have. We ordered a slice of cheesecake and out came a super dense gob-sticking slice. I think if it was meant to be like that it would (perhaps) have been ok but my take was it was 2 days past it's shelf life. One wouldn't have gotten sick eating it but after 2 small bites my tongue was glued to the roof of my mouth. My friend ate the rest of it. I think she may have been hungry.... I'm from northern New Jersey, so I like to think I've experienced a few diners. The people at Viewmont are kind and pleasant. The food is pretty good - I like their breakfasts, especially the croissant sandwich, although I have had some mashed potatoes with huge slices/chunks in them, along with a few decently sized pieces of skin. A few times I've been there, the place wasn't so clean - booths with spoons and napkins on the floor, crumbs and stuff on the benches. I've even been seated at tables that had not yet been cleaned, coffee cups, little containers of jam and butter still on the table. One booth I sat at had a pretty.. slanted table. As in, noticeably slanted. But all that said, I still like the place and the food. The atmosphere is as pleasant as the people and the service is nice and prompt no matter the time of day. I do recommend the Viewmont Diner to those looking for a good bite to eat. read more

Eh..I came for the .99 breakfast and it was decent...also not as described. You needed to order an additional item to get the deal which I wish was posted. Also, not a fan of scrapple. Bleh!! No clue as to why this diner only has a 3/5 rating. We went back for the second time this afternoon, last time was prob 5 years ago. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. asked us what we would like immediately, and our requests were brought stat. I'm sorry we didn't get our servers name, but she was top notch. Every request was met with "you got it"! Our lunch/dinner orders were served in about 10 minutes max. My gyro with fries was absolutely delicious, as it had been last time we were here. Dear yelp friends, long time no sea. I am both happy and sad to announce that i am now a divorced and single cougar. Wowie it feels weird to say that after being married for neerly 30 years. But Life moves on! Now I was Under The Wheather as some would say so what other way to deal with a divorce than travel to Hazleton Area Penssylvania and see my family and gal pals. Oh gosh i am so happy to have the friends I have in this good old place. Edith or as i like to call her Little E and i, went out for dinner one night a few weeks ago to this lil diner. Shesaid shes been going there since her grandmother was still jazzying on the earth. Old as dust. Such a greate lil place! let me tell you when we first got there this kid was screaming as loud as possible, cant beleieve how loud this thing was screaming. No kids for lil fran thank God ! You can already guess what we got, everyone knows we love to turn up the heat so we oviously got buffalo chicen paneenies. It came with a soup and fries. I asked the waitress if there was a substitution like a house salad but she quickly shot this idea down. Which was disapointment becasue soup tasted like Progresso. Yuck ! and was spicey. I should have gotten the gyro! I ordered the crab cake special for $15.99. Basically, they made nearly 100% in profits off of this. I have eaten crab cakes all over the United States, I blame myself for ordering it here. If you like imitation crab, this is your dish. I mean, come one, chop up the fake crab in tiny pieces and try and trick a customer! Wow! At least mix in a tiny bit of the real stuff! Aweful!!!! Ripped off is what I feel! I should have sent it back! I didn't and I regret that! That's right, no real crab, all fake. I had the gyro in the past and liked it. My bad! The falafel is amazing. The place is a little crummy inside and the wait staff of loud as hell. But the falafel-- go for the falafel and the white cucumber dressing-- I can't think of what it's called-- but it's amazing. Seriously though, the kitchen is loud. In all, it's a good diner for diner food or the odd Greek item, but the staff is really what needs to be worked on. This is the higher end of what a diner can be and leaning into a casual dining restaurant. It's the type where you go and sit down and talk for a bit before getting your food. Service isn't usually horrible, but generally on the slower side. So, if you have plans for after that are time sensitive? Not the place for you. You're likely to spend a good hour here most days, relax. The food in general is good so long as you stick to diner staples. That's the burgers, fries, and nachos. The Greek items are actually pretty good as well and somewhat shocking that such a place would have it. Breakfast is generally also good here, definitely a world better than Denny's across the way from it and many other places in the area... BUT... Many times, especially in the last year or two, I've found the waitresses to be rather dismissive if not outright rude at times. And on a couple different occassions I was pushed to leave a tip on my card while paying my bill at the register, even though I had just left a 15-18% cash tip on the table. Which persisted even after explaining I'd done such. Experiences like that make me rethink coming here again when it's brought up as an option. read more

First review and I wouldn't use it on any other place. While it is a diner and you aren't going to be blown away with appearance or bells and whistles, it has good food-plain and simple. Breakfast is always great. Make sure you get your potatoes extra crispy. In terms of appetizers, they have about 3-4 different soups daily and I have not had a bad one. Chicken dumpling is my top choice. The quesadillas are good too. For lunch/dinner, the burgers are very good as well. They have a large amount of combinations so you should be able to find something you like. Fries are always crispy and fresh too. The open-faced sandwiches are good choices as well. Turkey is my preference. Lastly, their deserts are on display in the case when you walk in. They have top notch cakes and pies. The cookies and cream cake is fantastic. read more

BEWARE OF VIEWMONT DINER!! If considering eating there just go in prepared. If ordering eggs, the waitresses are instructed to serve the eggs with potatoes. Be Careful, they had the nerve to tell me that I had to get potatoes with the eggs even though the menu states two eggs and toast. I caught the waitress try to do that to me this morning, after calling her out on it, I ordered my coffee with milk, another fatal error as they are too lazy to offer milk and sweetner. They just expect customers to settle for whatever is in front of them. The waitress brought me milk in a filthy dirty glass because I was aware of how she was trying to get over on me, and she offered no apology. This was done on purpose as she didn't even offer up an apology. After notifiying the SO-CALLED MANAGER, this supposed person in charge became angry that I demanded an apology from the waitress and accused me of not being 'nice' enough after the dirty glass was served to me and the waitress attempted to place an order that would have cost me more. I think the atmosphere in that place is a reflection of that mean and nasty "manager" person as all the women seem to be nasty and disgruntled. Who does this? Any other real establishment would have offered a free orange juice or a free cup of coffee, this witch was so cheap that she decided to get an attitude with me and my husband. Came here with the entire family for a lunch. Establishment is small and not really good for larger groups. There's a heavy Greek influence on the menu and the saute meals all come with a complimentary glass of wine. Which is very odd for a diner setting. The kids menu is very limited. Portions are significant however there wasn't a lot of seasoning. Many of the items on my plate share the same flavor profile. Service was fast the day I went the establishment was very noisy.
