This place is right around the corner from me and I go there for various yearly inspections, fill-ups, and car repairs. I also must add that I go because I can shop in the Oakton Shopping Center while I'm waiting for my car to be looked at! Never had a problem and have had very good service... including tires, oil changes, referrals to family in town for the weekend , etc... This place is a rip-off and does not honor their coupons. They failed my car for inspection. I agreed to have them do the repairs they said were needed, which cost $207. I gave them, in advance, the coupon in the attached photo for "$20 off any service of $100 or more." When I came to pay, they did not honor it. First they said it was because "The labor was less than $100," which 1) is not what the coupon says, and 2) is not true. The labor (1st column was over $100). Then they said they didn't honor it because I got "4 different services." Really?? I spent over $207 overall and because it was for replacing 2 light bulbs, replacing an engine mount, and adjusting the rear brake, that doesn't count? Oakton Sunoco has definitely lost my business due to their dishonesty. read more

Bait and switch diagnostics, and poor customer service! I've been going here for years just for regular oil changes, state, inspections, emissions test. But recently after going there for a routine oil change and tire rotation my car started to have problems lurching and engine noises. I took it back and spoke with the manager who said they needed to road test it would probably charge a quarter hour/ half hr of the diagnostic fee something around 60$. When I brought it in to get tested another guy ended up charging me 90$ with my 25$ off coupon that I had. When I called back to talk to the original manager about the price discrepancy, he claimed to not remember talking to me even though it was the week before when I spoke with him, and he said "i wasn't here when you brought your car in I was off" so he wouldn't address the price discrepancy and he cut me off when I tried to explain when I had spoke with him before, since I brought the car in the week before for an additional emissions test. I had been in their 2 weeks prior for a tire rotation and oil change. The manager is surly. I won't ever bring my car back to them. And who knows -perhaps thanks to them my car has to have a new transmission put in. Also when I mentioned I wasn't happy about bait and switch to the cashier, he just said he said about the same thing the manager said, " I don't know anything about that, I didn't have anything to do with it, I just got here", thanks for nothing y'all - poor customer service!!!!!! read more

Pretty squared away mechanics at this shop, in my experience. My first experience with them was with a simple inspection - the hitch being that I had just replaced the battery that morning. Mentioning in passing that I put a battery in, they were very straightforward with me, stating that until I had about 50 miles of driving in the car, the car would fail emissions automatically, as removing the battery had 'wiped' the computer, and it needed a baseline of use to know it it was performing to specs. Their honesty was refreshing. Simple honesty doesn't rate five stars, however, it was the brake work they did on my 'camping car' an older 2000 Jeep that had seen too much mud and road salt. They did a great job on replumbing and essentially replacing the rear brakes from the master cylinder on back. Tl;dr These guys are great; honest and quality work. read more

Service has always been quick and efficient here and relatively inexpensive, and I've always dealt with a friendly staff. However, the manager on site today had a huge attitude problem even though I was nothing but polite with him despite 1. My car had clearly been ready 20 minutes prior to me standing there, and he just didn't want to be bothered by me asking 2. Him Speaking to me condescendingly for not being able to hear him, I guess warranting the response "I'm speaking English what's the problem with you?". 5 stars for your service department but someone's attitude really needs to be adjusted before I change my mind about my rating. TERRIBLE. Do not use this garage. I used to bring my vehicle here for 7 years straight, Kevin Ryan was the Service Manager. He was excellent but he left a few years ago. After he left, I had my truck inspected there - this was 3 years ago, it was rejected for a 3rd rear break light not working on the shell of my truck, I called VA State Police about the rule, they said the vehicle should have passed the inspection. The State Trooper called the garage and they reversed the inspection and gave me a pass. The service manager at the time was not the current one, Joe. Should have learned my lesson. I brought it back there again for convenience this past Friday for an inspection, it got rejected for bad ball joints, so I had them fix it. $600.00 later, I pick the truck up and it does not steer correctly, it's unsafe in fact. The service manager Joe called me 2 days later (I left the truck there) and told me they COULD NOT alien the vehicle themselves and would have to outsource the job for an additional $109.00. Ok- when you bring a vehicle in that is operating fine and then you get it back and it doesn't steer correctly, so bad that you can't take it on the highway?? Ironic, my truck was safer before the safety inspection. Repeat, DO NOT USE THIS GARAGE. The service manager is inexperienced. This place has tanked. it used to be great. If anyone knows where Kevin Ryan is now managing - would love to find him again I called several garages yesterday to get quotes on alignments, they all said the same thing "THEY DID A BALL JOINT JOB AND DIDN'T ALIGN THE VEHICLE??!!" I will not go to this place again for any service. They failed my state inspection and gave me a list of repairs that needs to be done before I could pass the inspection again. I took my BMW X5 to the showroom directly for a second opinion. There was nothing wrong with the control arms and they passed the state inspection. Wanted to make money at any cost. I am up early getting ready to drive what we affectionately call our car " Moby Dick" to the Oakton Sunoco, Off at one of the 100 times it has been here in 10 years. It has over 200k and is 14 years old. I think Oakton Sunoco can take credit for keeping our cars alive and helping me support my kids in college and not a car payment. I miss Kevin the manager, I now miss Andrew the second manager....yes we have been here a long time. Sometimes they have goofed, but always fixed my complaint. They give me a ride home when they can. Have done emergency visits for my kids cars before I put them on the road back to college. They have always taken good care of the 6 cars we own. A special shout out to Dave, who is a great great mechanic....and hates our Volvo ..it's a 1986. But it still goes to the metro every day. Thank you Dave for putting up with it. I know everything in that car is rusted, old, and makes your job very hard. You labor and sweat over that rusty old bucket of a car. You can't just fix that car....it's like an old man....you have to coddle it, jury rig repairs, and sometimes create parts or special repairs. Thank you. read more

I have been a customer of this station for the past 6 years and only have good things to say. Everyone from the cashier to the mechanics and inspectors has always been very friendly. I have a brother who is a mechanic in California so I always ask him for advice before I get work done on my car. He has always said that this station's pricing is fair and that they don't suggest repairs that aren't needed. One time I had a question with one of my repairs and I asked to speak to the owner. He called me back that same day and we had a very friendly conversation on the phone. I've been recommending this station to my friends for awhile now and have not heard any complaints. read more

I had come here for a state inspection, but this was my first time having any work done on the car. My car's brake light on the dashboard had been turning on and off, and the fixes associated with a known issue with the model hadn't worked. The mechanic quickly found a leak in the brake line (and didn't see any other problems), and they went to work fixing it right away. The service manager was very friendly, and I was impressed by how he explained to another customer that her car had significant problems (passing the inspection would require such and such, but actually making the car safe would require much more) and that she would be better off putting her money into a new car. It wasn't news she wanted to hear, but I thought the information was conveyed well. read more

After going to this station for 15 years, they have lost my business for state inspections. Their customer service is poor and their knowledge of products is worse. I was incorrectly told by the Service Manager (after waiting in line for an hour to have my car inspected,) that the replacement wiper blades which I specially ordered for my BMW wouldn't fit the car, and was rudely dismissed. After driving back to Vienna, where the I purchased the blades (and where they kindly installed them in about 30 seconds,) I returned to the Sunoco station. The Service Manager didn't seem phased by the fact he had given me wrong information, and suggested I wait in what was probably an hour and 1/2 line again to have the car inspected. Needless to say, I went elsewhere and will continue to do so. read more

I got both brakes changed here and they charged me an arm and a leg and I don't think they did a good job because a week later my car went right back to squeeking when I brake. While I was there I had them test my battery. I was told by battery was in good shape and that I have another 2yrs on it. A few months later I go there again because my engine light was on and my car wouldn't turn on. The guy was almost positive it was the battery. I told you they had checked the battery a few months ago and I got two thumbs. The guy checks the battery and says it's at 50% which is not good. He says he sees this all the time. An engine light for a low battery? Really? I went against my gut and allowed him to change the battery. Poor judgment on my part. He seems very confident, so i let him change the battery. Surprise, surprise, it wasn't the battery. I would stay away from this place. On top of that the service staff is very unfriendly except for the supervisors and gas station cashier. I've spent about $2,000 at this shop and all I got was a crummy brakes job and a poorly diagnosed car problem. read more
