First off props on their Christmas decorations! Looking forward to December. Thankful that the staff here hook it up. This gas station can be an adventure to, get in and out of due to its location. Extremely busy intersections. On a plus note this is where I get my vehicle inspected, and some basic maintenance. Have been pleased with turnaround times. There's not much of a convenience store here. They could improve on that. Also even in normal times, their gas prices tend to be on the high side. Right now they are surrounded by insane prices in all directions, thanks to a number of factors. If you're in the area this works, but I wouldn't go across miles to get here. As always, I was scrambling to find a shop that could squeeze me in for a state inspection before I got caught up. After failed attempts to reach my dealership, I decided to search on Yelp and find the next best option. Jermantown Shell had decent reviews so I gave them a call to see if I could schedule an appt. The gentleman I spoke with was kind and informed me that they did not do appts for state inspections just first come first serve, and that their days start at 8am. The following day I showed up at 8am and went in the store and asked the clerk what were the next steps to get my car serviced. She told me to pull around to the back to get in what I guess was the service line. After waiting for about 15 mins behind two cars and not being acknowledged, I called the store back to see if I could just leave my car. The same gentleman I spoke to the day before answered and told me I could, but first I would need to go in the store and fill out the paper work (which the clerk failed to mention in the first place). I left my car and about an hour later they called me to tell me it was ready for pickup. Overall it was a decent experience for someone who only goes to their dealership. They could have cleaned up the window where they applied the sticker (remnants of the old one), but for $20 I can't complain too much. read more

They are honest, they're good people, and when we've had hiccups with repairs --which happen, no matter how good the provider -- they have been honest, fixed it at no costs, and been very professional. And Chase, the co-owner, is very patient with me, as I don't really have a voice number--pretty much just FaceTime and iMessage, so I generally need a text message when they need to get in touch. horrible. had an appointment for 8:30am to get brakes inspected. made the appointment with brad the day before. arrived early filled out the paperwork form on the counter (no one there!) & then waited 30 minutes until 8:45 still no one at service counter. then was told by the owner "chiko" -we're very busy! and we don't make appointments-- "we can't see you today. we tell everyone to come at 8:30 i've been here 50 years" didn't even offer to give me a courtesy ride home & leave my car. as a disabled veteran, never have i been treated with so much discourtesy. their website " we strive to keep you satisfied at jermantown shell" & "help identify problems with your car, and get them fixed right away." is completely false. rude & unprofessional. never again. read more

I called ahead to ask for an appointment for an oil change and they said it was first come first serve. So I showed up and the guy at the counter said "tomorrow?" and I said "no, I want an oil change today." He kept saying "45" but English was very broken and hard to understand. I said I could wait 45 minutes. We went out to my car and he pulled into the garage. I was very awkwardly standing in the parking lot and then eventually followed into the garage and he said "go inside." I did, and he came in and I had to ask for the paperwork or to be able write down my phone number so I could run errands while the shop did the oil change. I wrote my contact information and requested pickup timeslot. I ran my errands, never got a call. I came back 1 hour 45 minutes later and said I never got a call. The shop was closed but the gas station counter was still open. He was annoyed I took so long to come back. I assumed they were still working on my car because I never got a call. He handed me my receipt and I confirmed that was my phone number and that I had zero missed calls. Overall annoyed at customer service, wished they would have been up front about timing/paperwork/and closing time and been able to clearly communicate that, but they got the oil change done. I had struggled to find a good service shop in each part of NOVA I've lived, but once I found this shop I stopped looking for closer shops and now consistently make the extra effort to come here no matter the distance. I know my time will be respected w updates on diagnostics & progress, the work on my car will be done correctly and cost efficiently the first time, and the manager Brad is very approachable and patient even with car amateurs like me and will communicate clearly and honestly about what needs to be done. Finding a reliable group of guys to handle my cars has been a huge relief and I regularly refer people here when they ask for recommendations. Brought my vehicle in for issues with steering and they recommended repairing shock absorbers and replacing some tires. The tires were worn and I agreed. After replacing the shock absorbers the steering did improve. Pricing was really fair for everything and they repaired it all same day. It's been months now and I am happy with the work. I would bring my vehicles here again for repair. I usually bring my vehicles here for inspection and that can take a bit of time but it's convenient and easy. read more

The Jermantown Shell has been the go to Service Station for quite a while at least the 20 years while I have lived in Oakton and have been going there for service and maintenance. they always perform the service that is required and give advice on alternatives. I will say that this is the best Shell station I have found in all those years with great Service. Their owner and service manager, as well as workers are honest and straightforward, and they have quality people working on your vehicle. I also go there for inspections, and always greeted with a friendly face and quality inspector. I highly recommend them and thank them for all their support over the years. I really appreciated the convenience and service I received here. After a really scary (yet harmless) hydroplaning incident in this weird weather this past weekend, I was determined to plant my car in a service shop ASAP to get it ready for the winter. Chase was very understanding, listened to my concerns. He explained their 22 point inspection process as part of oil change and was clear about how much time it would take to complete the process. He kept in touch with me throughout the process over the phone, explained what his recommendations were, how much they would cost and what was critical to do vs not. I have my car back now and it drives great - they aligned wheels well (something the Hyundai folks always charged me for, but never really did right). Compared to the Hyundai showroom where I have always been going to, their labor charges here are very reasonable. They are open 24*7, those Chase leaves by around 5. His wife was also really sweet. I do recommend this place for anyone looking to get their car serviced/ fixed etc. read more

We've been taking our car for maintence and repairs for years. This month they charge 3.5% for using a credit cars. When noticed we went back within 24 hours with a check and they refused to reverse the charge and take the check. They never said they changed their fees. Most contracts have 3 days to refute - not Jermantown, not even hours! Totally disappointed. I have raved about their service but no more. read more

It's always tough to find a people that you can trust with car maintenance, given how most of car repairs today are not something you can do yourself. I had an issue with my 2011 VW where the catalytic converter light came on. I thought I was looking at having to replace the catalytic converter, which can cost upwards of $1200. I brought it in to the Jermantown Shell and Mike found out it was just the oil dipstick that was causing a vacuum problem thus prompting the exhaust system light to come on. Throughout the replacement process the folks at Jermantown were super helpful and I could tell that the price for the parts and labor was very fair. Do not get inspected here! No one wearing masks or gloves who got inside and touched our car. Didn't even wipe it down after. The cashier had one but kept taking it off to talk. That aside, there is no where to sit or even really stand comfortably while you wait in the shop/office. Kept having to move while people shopped. I went for a state safety inspection and emissions check. When I arrived, there was one car in the shop getting checked and another in front of me. The car in front of me apparently could not wait and drove off. When the car in the garage was backed out and drove off, I could not see where the technician went and wasn't sure what I was supposed to do. I saw another mechanic working on a car in an adjacent stall and politely asked him if I am supposed to drive my car in. He rudely asked me if I could read the sign that said where the wait line was and to just wait there. When the technician came back, he took my car in and completed the service checks. He was more polite than the other guy and got the job done. I will return next year despite the rude guy. read more

I don't think anyone has a loyalty to a particular gas station, but for me, this Shell station comes pretty close. I have never seen a more clean gas station (this employee is cleaning the pumps). Also, at the pump next to me an employee is teaching an Asian Woman (very patiently) how to use the gas pumps. For holidays, they decorate the landscaping surrounding the station. Jermantown Shell has truly impressed me with the customer service, prices, and their efficiency. I called to get a price estimate a day before I came in and I was immediately given the estimate over the phone. I was told that their shop is first come first serve so it would be best to come in first thing in the morning (8 am) to get the service I need done as soon as possible! I had to get an oil change, tire rotation, and get my brake fluids topped off. One of the best perks about this place is that with an oil change, they will top off your windshield wiper fluids, brake fluids, check your tire pressures, and check your filters. I came in at 8:30 and asked if they could be done with everything by 10/11 am and it was. Chase gave me a call to let me know that everything was done and also advised me that I needed some filters changed which I ended up doing. This place saved me almost $75 which I would have spent if I went to Honda. I am so thankful I found this shop and will be using them moving forward with all my maintenance work! I could say that the value Jermantown Shell provided me was plugging my tire that was punctured flush by a screw last evening, but that wouldn't be the whole story. The real value they provided was restoring my day. I'm in a very busy time and when my tire was punctured, I dreaded the extra to do because, well, these things are never convenient. This a.m., I dropped off my kids at camp, hit Yelp to find a tire repair shop and found JS with a great rating just 1.5 miles from the camp dropoff. I rolled in and they immediately put Chase on the job. I was in and out in less than 30 mins and back on track for my previously scheduled challenges. I went in for a simple conventional oil change today. I had called the day before to get a pricing on a oil change and the person who picked up the phone said 34.95 with tax. Even their sign said 34.95 for a conventional oil change. Now when I dropped off my car this morning and picked up the car. They charged me 43.76.. I had asked why that was, the cashier said its sales tax. Then when I asked again because almost 8.81 in sales tax didn't make any sense for me. Then his answer changed to its 8.00 labor charge and that the people working there need to make their money. Being in small business myself I understand and respect that but just be upfront with your customers. Change the sign that says 34.95 to plus labor charge of 8.00. Or just one price that has 8.00 included. Only reason why I'm giving them 3 stars is bc they have good customer service majority of the time. read more

The mechanics are honest and very clear about what needs to be done and how much the cost is BEFORE they do the work. The explanation of what needs to be done is super helpful, especially for someone who does not know cars (like me)! The pricing is fair and they always throw something in complimentary for loyal customers. Yesterday I dropped my car off for an oil change around 2:30pm. They drove me home, did the work, called me and picked me back up. I had my car back home with me by 5:30pm - and this was Fairfax traffic. This is a perfectly acceptable place to get your state inspection done, and there's a chance I'll go back. It took forever, which isn't entirely on them (it's the end of the month), but when they finally got to my car, I asked them if I could leave my number and go somewhere else and they said yes, they'd call when my car was done. That call never came - we came back about 40 minutes later to find my car sitting in the lot, finished. It passed on the first try, and they didn't try to sell me any services, which was nice. There was no acknowledgement that they'd forgotten to call me, though. For 20$, it's not the end of the world, but it's also not the best customer service. Another minor thing - I've never been to a place that requires you to wait with your car until it's your turn, but this place does. So we spent almost an hour sitting in line, which was not great. Every other place I've done this just let you park the car in line, drop the keys, and go. read more

Took my car to be inspected and they failed it for the "high beams switch." Didn't realize it was the combination turn signal brights handle until I made a turn to my street. It worked on my way there. If it were broken I would have fixed it when I just had to repair my emissions for inspection. They won't take responsibility or pay more any of the expensive repair. First time getting service at this location. They were courteous and honest from the initial phone call to keeping their word on my arrival for an appointment. The manager, Brad, was straightforward with a professional attitude and demeanor. My technician was Juan. Very cordial and excellent mechanic. He did not at all have any issue with me watching the vehicle oil change and tire rotation being performed. He made sure the car did not have any hidden issues underneath in terms of leaks, suspension, and brakes. I really like that they had an extra lift to use when its busy. It was not only less expensive than Jiffy Lube but they pretty much do the same level of service plus more. I will certainly be returning here again for my regular services. Thank you! read more

This *used to* be my go to gas station. Until today when I took off work early to get a state inspection. They are only open during the hours most people work, but advertise being open until 5:00 pm. I showed up at 4:15 pm and there was only ONE other car waiting to be serviced, but the cones had already been put up. I spoke to one of the service people and he said too bad, they couldn't fit me in before 5. Even though I showed up FORTY-FIVE minutes before closing for an inspection that takes 15 minutes and they did not have a long line (it's the middle of the week at the beginning of the month). I told him I have a toddler and a full time job and had arranged my day around them working on cars until 5. Yeah, he didn't care at all. He also didn't care when I said they were losing a customer. Drove to another Shell right down the street. Arrived a little after 4:30 and was told it should only take 15 minutes. Never going back and dealing with the rude uncaring service as the Jermantown Shell. Also, in the time it took to write this review, the other Shell station was able to finish my state inspection. read more
