Moving to a new place and having to find EVERYTHING new is always scary and a headache; especially for your car maintenance! However, I was very pleased with the customer service upon my initial arrival. Everyone was friendly and answered the questions I had with the knowledge and respect, which is something I am big on with businesses. Although no one knew about Yelp's coupon, they still granted it to me which was awesome! Thanks Guys, I'll definitely be back for car maintenance again! read more

This *used to* be my go to gas station. Until today when I took off work early to get a state inspection. They are only open during the hours most people work, but advertise being open until 5:00 pm. I showed up at 4:15 pm and there was only ONE other car waiting to be serviced, but the cones had already been put up. I spoke to one of the service people and he said too bad, they couldn't fit me in before 5. Even though I showed up FORTY-FIVE minutes before closing for an inspection that takes 15 minutes and they did not have a long line (it's the middle of the week at the beginning of the month). I told him I have a toddler and a full time job and had arranged my day around them working on cars until 5. Yeah, he didn't care at all. He also didn't care when I said they were losing a customer. Drove to another Shell right down the street. Arrived a little after 4:30 and was told it should only take 15 minutes. Never going back and dealing with the rude uncaring service as the Jermantown Shell. Also, in the time it took to write this review, the other Shell station was able to finish my state inspection. read more

Bottom line I don't let anyone touch my car except these guys. My Dad found them and he recommended them to me. Have always been honest with me and that's important because I'm a female, young, and minority. They always treat me with respect, explain stuff in basic English without making me feel like an idiot, and have never done me wrong. I trust these guys. 10 stars. read more

First time getting service at this location. They were courteous and honest from the initial phone call to keeping their word on my arrival for an appointment. The manager, Brad, was straightforward with a professional attitude and demeanor. My technician was Juan. Very cordial and excellent mechanic. He did not at all have any issue with me watching the vehicle oil change and tire rotation being performed. He made sure the car did not have any hidden issues underneath in terms of leaks, suspension, and brakes. I really like that they had an extra lift to use when its busy. It was not only less expensive than Jiffy Lube but they pretty much do the same level of service plus more. I will certainly be returning here again for my regular services. Thank you! read more

After the car dealership screwed me for the last time, I decided I needed to take my car somewhere else for service. As this station is close to me, I felt I'd give them a try. The individual that came up to me was very helpful and listened to all my concerns. I had my car back three hours later and the price was very reasonable for the work that was performed. I will definitely go back for future repairs. Bonus points to this location for putting out decorations during big holidays. read more

Many times on the way home from work I need to re-fuel. If its late at night - this is my station of choice as its well lit and very open so I feel pretty safe getting gas at weird hours. Best thing here though is the amazing displays of inflatable holiday decorations with animatronics they have. The moving spider nearly scared the crap out of me at Halloween as I was standing at a pump around midnight. I always make sure to come by at least once around a holiday just to check out what they've put up. read more

Was excited to see no line for inspection & all 3 service bays were empty. I knew i would be quickly in and out! Wrong. Although there was no line, I waited for 20+ minutes before an employee pulled my car into a bay. This was while one garage employee swept the floor, another played solitaire, and the 3rd walked around a vehicle in the parking lot, waiting for a diagnostic test to finish. This 3rd employee eventually reinspected my vehicle. Definitely waited too long; no line, empty bays- what should I have expected? read more

Sometimes relationships can change over time. You change, they change and before you know it you are just not compatible anymore. This has not happened with Jermantown Shell. I have been taking my cars/trucks to this station for over 10 years starting with a 1998 Durango with a lot of age related problems and working my way through many cars and trucks to today. I have trusted them with every problem/maintenance on every car and never been disappointed. I now own a nice German sports car, a Tahoe and a Hyundai and it would be easy to assume that the sports car should only be trusted at a dealer or specialist but the truth is, these guys give my new car the attention and care that a dealership only wishes they could muster. Furthermore, they are upfront and honest about what I need versus what I may want and their hourly rate is competitive. They also never gouge or even try the heavy handed up-sell. My relationship with Shell has lasted longer than most marriages but I am happy to share them with you. read more

After my car's battery died, I started walking toward the Autozone to get a replacement but stopped in at this place along the way. They sold me a new battery (for $110 - I'm no battery price expert, but I'm pretty sure that's the list price and not marked up at all) and then gave me a ride back to my house. The mechanic suggested that my alternator might be bad, so after I got the car moving again, I drove it back there for them to check. Now, given the general reputation of mechanics and how they do business, you may be assuming that they both charged me for the check and found several things wrong with my car that they offered to fix for a small fee. But that's not what happened. They did the check for free, told me that it was inconclusive because I hadn't driven enough since changing the battery, and offered to check it again another day. Which they did - also at no charge. They ended up spending a fair amount of time on my car, chauffeuring me around, and selling me a battery, and all they got from me was the cost of the battery. And then they sent me a "Thanks for your business" card. I will be going there again. You should too. read more

Been here a goodly number of times over the years, both for gas and repair/inspection work. While a gas might be a few cents higher than other local Shell locations they have always seemed to have a high level of honesty and integrity when it comes to their repair work and state inspection bay. While I do miss some of the people who used to work here, such as Tony, Dave, and Bob (former inspector who looked like a member of ZZ Top) it appears that the owner has always had a good replacement for whoever moves on. To top it off, the owner here has a great holiday spirit. Wonderfully over the top decorations for Halloween and Christmas every year have people stopping just to take pictures with their kids. You just don't see enough of that these days. read more

I went here to get an inspection. As I got in line, I called and asked the time frame as I have to get to the DMV before noon and would go elsewhere if need be. I was assured I "would ah e plenty of time". Two hours later at 1120, then finally get to me. I said I need to get to the dmv before noon, "we'll try". I don't have any idea what quality of service. They provide normally. However, when I called I expected an honest answer. If they weren't sure or didn't know. They should have said the truth. I assume my inspection will be complete. But this is bad business and I won't be back. read more

I had a very bad shake in my front left tire, so I stopped by Jermantown Shell on my way home from work on 8/4/17 because I thought the problem need prompt attention. I had never been to this shop before, but it's on my way home from work, so I gave them a shot. I've been ripped off a few times I this area by auto garages in the past and have been wary of having my vehicle serviced by any garage that I don't know or hasn't been trustworthy with me in the past. If my car needs serviced, I'll usually derive 1.5 hours away to a garage that I know and trust rather than risk a bad experience in NOVA. However, dealing Jermantown Shell was a great experience. Chase put my car in for service immediately. It turned out that the belt had separated in my front left tire, so I need a new set of front tires. Chase ordered me 2 new tires and put my spare on the front left so I could get home. He called me the next morning telling me that my new tires were in and that I could bring my car into be serviced anytime that day. I brought in a couple hours later and Chase and his crew immediately changes and mounted my new tires, and charged me a very reasonable price for the work. I was there only 20 minutes. I am very impressed with there willingness to slip me in to their busy schedule and take care of my car problems so quickly. They really helped me out in a pinch, and I'll definitely bring my car back for more work in the future. Jermantown Shell has renewed my faith in their being a reliable professional garage in NOVA. Thanks again guys! My ride is rolling smoothly again. Cheers! read more

Here's my story: I drive a 9-year-old American-made car with 170K miles on it. I've always kept up with maintenance and, in general, it runs pretty well. At that age and with that much mileage, parts can go on you fairly suddenly, though. On one recent Thursday night, I worked pretty late out in the Reston/Herndon/Sterling area and found myself near the Vienna Metro station about 9pm when the check engine light came on and the car began sputtering pretty violently. I limped to the Metro and parked my car overnight figuring I'd deal with it in the morning. I checked in with my normal shop located 15 miles or so from the Metro--which has done excellent work for me for several years--and they were booked solid. I thought about waiting until after the weekend when they'd have time for it, but when I learned how much it might cost to tow it there (the car really wasn't drivable for more than a mile or two), I started looking for other solutions. I found Jermantown Shell here on Yelp and felt like the small number of reviews were promising. Particularly the one from Becky P. who also drives an older car with heavy milage on it. When I called the shop, they told me they could have a look at it that morning. So I hopped the Metro in DC (where I live) and got the car there. When I handed the keys over, the owner offered to drive me 12-15 miles out of his way to my office so I wouldn't have to book a vacation day just to deal with my car. They called later that afternoon reporting that the first battery of tests ruled out a few obvious things (like a sparkplug) and that they'd need another day on it. The following morning (a Saturday), I got another call saying they found the problem (a busted spring in one of the cylinders) and would have the car ready for me on Monday. True to their word, the car was ready on Monday. The cost seemed reasonable to me: a little over $300 combined for the part, the labor, etc. In my experience, mysterious problems like that typically run at least a couple hundred dollars. And you really have to hope the shop won't try to tell you to think about getting five things done when you only need 1-2 repairs. In short, I felt like Jermantown Shell was honest, did good work and provided me with better service than I might have asked for. read more

I called Jermantown Shell yesterday morning when my 2014 Subaru Outback wouldn't start. They were at my house within 30 minutes and jump started my vehicle. Turned out I needed a new battery which I purchased from them that morning. I've had other positive experiences with them. I had been going to Fairfax Subaru for service. I won't anymore. read more

I like this Shell! Sometimes it can be super crowded, and you'll either have to wait for a pump or move on to the next station... But what I really like is that they put up huge blow up decorations for various holidays (like Halloween or Christmas)! Nothing beats looking at a bunch of Santas on motorcycles or ghosts rising from behind graves while you're pumping your gas! read more

Whether you are a newbie or a regular, this place will make you feel like you are home. I have been to many other auto repair shops around this area that i had been ripped off or scammed many times. This place especially Tom, will never try to squeeze more money out of you by doing unnecessary repairs because they are honest. I absolutely recommend this place. read more

This was my third time visiting this shop for car care and their service is great. It's tough finding a reliable, honest shop, that tells it like it is and won't try to take advantage of you. This time I went for a pre-purchase inspection of a car I was interested in (ended up not getting the car). They were efficient, yet thorough and didn't break the bank. Great service, polite, and professional. read more

I recently popped in there as I had a rock stuck between my brake rotor and the dust shield making a horrible grinding noise. I told them I knew exactly what the issue was, & that I could fix it myself too but they would be MUCH faster at it...so I just wanted to know how much they'd charge me for this 5 minute fix. Thanks to Marty, I was out of there in 15 minutes, and they only charged me $15! Very appreciated! read more

Just put gas in and full/ stopper was broke or something and gas was leaking all over my car. No body came out until I went in and someone came out saying"I saw it" with a bag of sand, sprinkling on the ground. And no sorry nothing and told me to move the car so he could sprinkle more area. Very rude. I just moved in the area and I will never use that gas station. Telling all my family and friends in the area also. read more

Can't possibly say more about the service at this station! When I stop in to get something checked randomly the service is outstanding. Also, a very well lit station for the necessary late night stops. Can't forget about the fabulous decorations that help put you in the holiday spirit as well! read more

I had a flat tire a month ago. I called the standard companies we all know and I was told I had to wait until Monday. I called the shell gas station and asked if they do tire changes and they said yes, we can actually get you in and out within 2 hrs. On a Saturday!! Not only did I get a tire, I received amazing service that you rarely see in the auto industry. They just gained a new lifetime customer! read more

Service shop: Tom is the best. He's always honest and helpful. We have had only positive experiences here. Their labor price is fantastic for the area as well. They also have a great rewards program for the service area. Gas station: Higher gas prices than most. They always have festive holiday decor. :) read more

I went to them for years and was thrilled with their service. Fast, competent, friendly service for years. I stopped going there a couple of years ago when I needed new tires and one of their mechanics tried to bs me. I told them I loved the ones I had on there and wanted to get them again. Their mechanic said "i just checked, they don't make those any more. We have whatever brand". I queried the Internet and he was lying. They had that brand, and continue to have that brand. I bought the tires I wanted off the Internet and had a different mechanic put them on and stopped going to JS. read more

Great service and great guys at this Shell station. I took a car that I was considering buying there for a pre-purchase inspection. Chase performed the check and was super helpful with advice and clarity re: what he found. While I was waiting I asked Brad some questions and he was super patient and informative too. These guys are honest and I'd happily recommend them to anyone needing car maintenance. read more

Can't say enough about the service/mechanics at Jermantown Shell. Chase explained everything and truly cared about us. We had a new engine put in and they walked us through the whole process. It's a family run business and that's how they treated us. Highly recommend to everyone, from a new engine to the smaller fixes, trust them to provide honest, efficient service. I came for a safety inspection and emission. The staff was accommodating and prompt with the service. I dropped my car off around 9:15 a.m. on a weekday and there were a couple of people ahead of me. I received a call an hour later stating that my car was ready for pick up. read more

This is my go-to mechanic since I have moved to Fairfax 3 years ago. They are honest, reasonably priced, and have great customer service. Chase is great. He takes the time to talk and explain the issues with you. Recently, I had my Prius in for a recall notice at a Toyota dealer. Their mechanic quoted me a $3,000 fix for leaking gaskets. I have not seen oil leaks in my parking spot, and the pictures they sent (after I asked) didn't show any visible oil leaks. So, I took it to Chase for a second opinion. He looked at it, and found one oil leak, and some other important issues that needed fixed. He did all of the repairs for a fraction of the price! My car is running perfectly! Thank you Jermantown Shell! read more

I arrived at this shell at 4:40pm and was filling up a tire with air that I suspected had a nail in it but didn't want to bother anyone there with it. An associate stopped to ask if I needed help, confirmed the nail, and grabbed a man named Chase to help me with this. Chase had my tired plugged and refilled in less than 9 minutes - made great conversation, and all before 5pm on a Friday. This was outstanding and much appreciated. I will always be back simply for the service. Phenomenal. read more

I have had 3 cars serviced here and they never disappoint. Always courteous, explain repair needs (mainly what is needed now, what can wait, and what to look/listen for), and honest with options. I brought my car here today for just an oil change and emissions inspection. It's very convenient to where I live, so I figured I'd give them a try. They staff was friendly and helpful. My car was done within an two and a half hours on a Saturday and I was free to pick it up whenever. The price was reasonable and the simple job was well done. I went in with a loose muffler that I wanted secured and a loud banging noise in my right rear of my car. They mentioned the noise was my muffler and told me it would be $1800 to replace everything. I go to a different shop and they found that my right rear shock was detached and they were able to weld my muffler up as well all for $600. Seems Jermantown isn't set up for real repairs and doesn't even notice a completely broken shock which is a huge safety hazard. I have come here before for oil changes and that is all I recommend coming for otherwise find yourself a family owned Auto Repair Shop. read more

I have been coming here for a couple years now mostly for routine maintenance (oil change, air filter, etc.) for my 2003 Pontiac Grand AM GT, and I have always been happy with the service I receive. The first time I came here was actually for an oil change in addition to some brake issues I had been having. Since I came in on a Saturday, which is usually pretty busy, I just dropped off my car while I hung out with a friend in the area. Tom called me about an hour later with his assessment and were pretty honest about what needed to get done and what could wait for later. Their price estimate was very reasonable, and I haven't had any problems with the car since then. Since then, I have come in for regular oil changes and routine work and was surprised when Tom remembered me and my car the second time I went in. Saturdays are usually busy so you might have to wait longer. One weekday I did have off and brought my car in for an oil change right when they opened, and I ended up getting my car thirty minutes later. They have always been fast, professional, and are honest about the prices and what needs to get done and what can wait. read more

I will never go back to this place. I arrived at the station at 8:45 a.m. to get my car inspected. When I got there, I was the fifth car in line. After sitting for nearly 40 minutes and not moving, I had my boyfriend go check on what was going on. It turns out that the technician was running emissions and inspections on cars that had been dropped off (and that were unattended) either the night before or that morning before the folks that were waiting in line. So, instead of being the fifth car in line, I was actually the tenth or eleventh. I left this station and had my car inspected in 20 minutes a few blocks away. Terrible service and no communication at all at this station! read more

Arrived at 8am to get car emissions inspected. Was 5th car in line and took almost 90 minutes before my car was inspected. This was probably because the technician was 15 minutes late to work. They said late model cars take 5-10 minutes and others 15-20 minutes, but each car before me took average 20 minutes and they were ALL newer cars. Advice...arrive half hour or more before they open because they are SLOW SLOW SLOW. read more
