McKenna in the front, and Sesame Crunch Waffle in back.
    Charley B.

We went on a Tuesday morning and it did not look open, but the "OPEN" sign was on - we were the first people there. The staff working were fine, but not incredibly attentive and a little inconsistent. The food was alright, the sesame waffle was good, classic, and the McKenna was decent, but lacked flavor and in my opinion, I think it is always were to have raw spinach under cooked food. However, the drip coffee is oddly AMAZING. Overall, fine experience, but nothing that I would seek in the future.

Vegetable Cheese Enchilada Plate (vegan option)
    Diana C.

Server was very kind and helpful. The staff were attentive and seem to really be integrated into the neighborhood. The vegan enchiladas were good and I loved how many of the items could be made vegan! It was a really chill and sunny place. The vibes were very fun and communal and I'd definitely come back!

    Their PEZ collection!

We came in as a party of two on Saturday at noon and were seated right away. I love their cozy atmosphere-they have fun art on the walls, cheerful colors, comfortable seating and friendly service. Fun fact that I did not know until this visit-they are the oldest vegetarian restaurant in all of Seattle, and they are happy to make their offerings vegan upon request! I enjoyed a latte and the Huevos Rancheros with tofu. The Huevos Rancheros used fresh ingredients-I do love avocado with everything, and the potatoes were well cooked. I would recommend getting the red AND green sauce with this-why choose between two good things? This was a hearty meal! I was unable to finish my plate but appreciate the generosity with the portion size. We split a Rhubarb crisp between ourselves (perfect blend of sweet and sour), and left with happy bellies. Can't wait to return.

    Humous Roll Up

This place claims to be the oldest running vegetation restaurant in Seattle so I have been excited to try it. It's nestled on a residential street under an apartment building. It is usually busy for weekend brunch. I came mid week for lunch and there were just a few people in there. The staff was very unfriendly and it took over 10 minutes to take my order. It's also fairly pricey. I had a hummus roll up, which was tasty but basic. I just felt very uncomfortable in the restaurant for some reason. I might try it again but for now there's other options in the area with more enticing menus for the price.

    The Deluxe - loved!
    Kelcie Lei A.

I ordered The Deluxe, and I loved!! If you're into sour cream, guac, red/green sauce (I asked for both), cheese.. you'll love this! Flavors melded altogether, and it was so so good. You can choose for either black beans or home fries, and I asked for both too. Home fries were nicely seasoned. I wasn't able to finish my whole plate, so they definitely give a good portion! Service was great. Staff was attentive and nice. I came in on a Saturday morning, and it wasn't busy at all. Definitely a great find in Roosevelt, if you're looking for a delicious, filling meal and to get seated right away. Great ambiance. I would come back!

Euripedes breakfast with tofu + lemon poppy seed waffle
    Lana S.

Great breakfast/ brunch spot! I got the Euripedes, and subbed the tofu for eggs, my husband had the lemon poppyseed waffle. I also got the seasonal berry smoothie. Everything was delicious, filling, and fresh. The cafe is just the kind of funky neighborhood spot that I love. Service was friendly. Everything on the menu looked great so I'll be back soon to try more!

In a world where nothing is the same... It's nice to know you can still go to the Sunlight and order the Sauteed Veggies & Tofu with Lemon Tahini dressing. Life is that good~

Love the ambiance of the place. It has a pretty chill vibe to it, showcasing art from a few local artists. The staff were very friendly, cheerful and accommodating. The service is great and the food was beyond our expectation. Loved the tempeh here. It's crisp on the outside and smooth inside. I am not a huge fan of tofu as it is more on the chewy side but i liked the tofu here. The green sauce is great and the sour cream was fresh. This is a vegetarian restaurant (egg included) and several of the items can be made vegan or dairy free upon request. Definitely coming back again here !

Ordered the deluxe with over medium eggs and green sauce on the side. I also asked for half beans and half homefries, which they accommodated without a problem. Service was good, coffee was great and refilled often. I haven't been here in years and remember why I liked it so much before! Used to get the vegan highlander. That was great too. Definitely worth it and will be back to show them some neighborly love more often!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon during brunch. I'm a carnivore so coming here I was a bit nervous but I left absolutely satisfied. I had the veggie & tofu breakfast platter. FANTASTIC. Nothing needed additional hot sauce, ketchup etc. it was cooked to literally perfection. Bathrooms are super accessible, clean and have changing stations (nice classic wood ones) Something I noticed was that every single staff member, even the dishwasher was smiling. The people who work here, seem so happy to be here and it's reflected in the food. I will be back. Best breakfast I've had in ages.

The restaurant itself leaves a lot to be desired, but I'm not asking too much. I believe the owner said he was trying to revamp the place. I hope that the area comes alive in the future years, that should help. Here's the issue though, this is the slowest spot ever. I've waited 30 minutes for fries - FRIES. I don't mind waiting for food, but it should remain reasonable. There were only two or three people working, and one man did tell us this, but I need to be honest - this was on Super Bowl Sunday. No one was able to get anyone a beer from the tap for 40 minutes, the food took forever and it appeared that online orders were being prioritized (which makes sense, you make as you get orders coming in, but that puts your in person customers in an odd and sometimes frustrating position). To be honest, I probably wouldn't have minded as much if I just had some fries to snack on. I didn't mind as much this one time because I was just happy to find a place to watch the Super Bowl Half Time show, but other days, it's a little hard to look past. I wish this business the best, I live too close to not hope for its improvement! Looking forward to updating my review. At the end of the day, if you're hungry, it's late, this is your spot.

The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

I didn't expect much out of these, but they were surprisingly good. The rice is cooked perfectly, sticky and tender, yet each grain is distinctive and almost bouncy, giving great mouthfeel. The musubi seems to be dipped in a small amount of soy sauce, although not enough to cover the entire rice surface. The additional sodium isn't really needed in the first place due to the salty and meaty kick the spam on top gives the handheld snack. It's a classic combination for a good reason! (4/5) For the Food Walk special, they only give a small scoop of mac salad. I'm sure the normal side portion for $5.94 is much larger. The salad is unspectacular but solid. It's a little sweet, a bit peppery, and certainly very creamy. There's a bit of julienned carrot included that isn't particularly crunchy, being soaked in the mayo sauce. The macaroni itself isn't mushy or overcooked, so it still has some texture. (4/5) I don't usually expect much out of food court restaurants, but Aloha Plates definitely surprised me with their quality. It seems like a solid option for Hawaiian.

Perhaps the Lao Burger served there wasn't as juicy and succulent, with perfectly crisp smashed patties as I recalled? Or perhaps Taurus Ox just serves a completely inferior version. I revisited for a Friday late dinner to reach the bottom of things. This was at around 8PM and the place was surprisingly busy, with a fully running kitchen and almost all seats taken. It's a pretty small restaurant to begin with, but since the food comes fast, people don't typically stay too long. By the time our food arrived, a table had cleared up for us. Lao Burger ($18) - This Lao Burger is just as good as my first visit. Absolutely perfectly fried smash patties, completely with lacy, crispy edges that provide texture and an intense caramelized meaty flavor. I've already described the burger in detail in my previous review - what I can say on this visit is that the burger is basically identical, indicating that Ox Burger is consistent with cook and construction. The burger as a whole has the perfect moisture level with plenty of unique funky, umami-full flavors that make each bite a delight. As with my previous review, two things come to mind that detract just a tiny bit from my full enjoyment. Firstly, the burger as a whole is a bit salty for my tastes, necessitating several trips to refill my cup of water Secondly, the piece of sliced pork belly included is kind of vestigial. It seems to be only there to add additional salt, because neither the flavor nor texture are very apparent while eating. (5/5) Deluxe ($15) - This burger is somehow way messier than the Lao to eat. Upon lifting it up, a mess of watery mustard/mayo mix drips onto the plate. I think it might be from the extra moisture in the tomatoes and lettuce. And yet, somehow the bun isn't soggy at all. This burger is otherwise excellent, combing the same picture perfect smash patties as in the Lao, with the classic fixings - American cheese, bacon, pickles, and plenty of veggie mix. (5/5) I'm glad I gave the Lao Burger another chance. It's now one of my favorite burgers in the city. I'll definitely be coming back to Ox Burger for more. The progenitor, Taurus Ox, remains on my not recommended list though! Bathrooms - Single unisex room.
