After a week of working with Mullinax Ford on the purchase of an SUV, the deal fell through. I was left feeling misled and a bit dismissed after I refused to abandon my budget. I reached out to Sunstate Ford Internet Manager John Higley. Mr. Higley had emailed me a few days earlier after I made an online inquiry to the Ford website. He was one of three dealers who contacted me. While the Greenway manager was creepy and pushy, Mr. Higley was a true gentleman. He made me and my wish list for a car his priorities immediately. Throughout the sales process and purchase, Mr. Higley was patient and helpful. He took the time to find me the perfect vehicle, provide a test drive, explain all vehicle features, vehicle history and potential financing options. He worked within my budget and honored my AAA discount with no questions. Understandably, most people anticipate car buying to be a frustrating and tedious process. What a breath of fresh air to work with Mr. Higley. He treated me like I was an old friend. I really appreciated his time, attention and willingness to go the extra mile for me. No request I made was too insignificant to him. A special shout out to Accessories Manager Solomon Shubin, who worked with me on a steering wheel cover and key protector. He also explained additional items that might be useful for my nonprofit dog rescue. In all, this dealership is a diamond in the rough. I hope to have the same good fortune when dealing with the service department. Perhaps, I will buy a second vehicle here in the next year. I came in to get a quick inspection for a minor problem, which unsurprisingly became a major problem. They wanted to charge me $120 for a "diagnostic fee" which was not mentioned until they were finished looking. I didn't have that kind of money so they threatened to keep my vehicle until I paid it. They wrote "$120" on my contract after I had signed it (because the maximum default is $100). They eventually let me out of the fee. The wait times and labor fees are above-average for dealerships in the area. $120/hr. read more

I wanted to Make aware of some concerns about your business practices. Two weeks ago, I purchased a Pre owned 2015 Ford C Max from your dealer. You company claims that your vehicles are inspected and certified. That's an understatement. During the test drive, I noticed a strong odor coming from inside the vehicle. I told the sales man Johnny that I liked the vehicle. If it would be possible to take care of the odor. He told no problem... When I pick the vehicle, I noticed something was added in the car to block the bad odor. This only lasted a day. I noticed that my wife and I were getting a sore throat and flu symptoms. I had a feeling that it was because of the odor coming from inside the vehicle. I took the vehicle to a detail shop in hopes they could find where the odor was coming from. They removed the cabin filter, they noticed that filter was the factory installed filter and was never change since new. It was completely covered with cigarette smoke stains. Prior of changing the cabin filter moisture was coming out of A/C vents. This was happening because the cabin filter was completely clogged, NO AIR FlOW. I wanted you to make aware, because someone in your service department is NOT doing the right thing to make sure your cars are completely inspected. I certified vehicle shouldn't have any problems, even a cabin filter, which is so easy to changed. People get sick with clogged cabin filters, specially when the previous happens to be a smoker. While it was detailed inside, about 10 cigarette butts and 6 liters were found under the seats. I guess your detail people dropped the ball as well. I am making you aware of this situation in hopes this not happened to another customer. I had a good experience with your sales people, who were very polite and helpful. I don't blame them, I blame management who allows simple things like this to happened. read more

Review is for service only - not sales. I bring my work car here for service. When they are on it, they are on it. But when they are off, they are way off. Sometimes an appointment gets you in and out really quick - sometimes you can get in and out quickly without one. But, sometimes - you may sit there forever and have to ask them what is going on, only to be told that after a few hours of waiting, they are still unable to get you in for an oil change in the next hour or so, or that...surprise, your tire isn't in stock. Say what? The fleet service team has great customer service. Oil changes can be an ordeal, but tire swaps and repairs are very quick. The people are always nice to deal with though, and they just seem to forget to sometimes to communicate with the customer regarding their expectations because the service department here can be so busy. If you had a great experience here - don't assume it will always be like that. But, it could - if they are on it. It would be nice if they offered a complimentary wash or cleaning when those kinds of issues pop up, but that hasn't happened with me yet. Free WiFi available, as well as pretty decent, free hot coffee (but I would say drink at your own risk after 1pm!) They have a decent waiting room - but for a location this big, it can get crowded so claim your couch quickly. Plugs for laptops/charging cell phones available. read more

Seems like everyplace is quick to sell you a car, but treat service like an imposition. Returned for a recall. Despite an appointment, the one service guy mumbled the service assistant who was supposed to handle us disappeared. Now the attitude, rolling eyes, slamming papers. Finally he decides since he's the only one around, he'll do us a favor and do his job. When you mention this isn't a way to make someone feel welcome -- now get this -- he throws more papers, tells you he doesn't need to be treated like this and says "go to the window!" What is this, the Ford car service Nazi? The managers apparently don't care how their employees act, but received an extra star because they personally handled the recall and got us out in 30mins. This dealership prides itself on FRANK -- sort of telling you they treat you like family. Talk about dysfunctional family. We are actually interested in buying a new car. I can't say enough about my trips to this dealership. I was just telling everyone on Saturday after my service visit that I take my car to the dealer because every time I go, it's a great experience. It was just for a full synthetic oil change on my 2014 Ford Focus ST, but from the time I walked in until the time I received my car back, it was just very pleasant, as it is every time I visit. I have no complaints and will continue to return here for any of my service needs, including my next car purchase. So driving down from SE Texas my windshield moulding flew off. I called first thing Monday and left a message for service. I was called back and received a repair quote from the body shop. Then I was called again and made an appointment with the service department. Now, I was at Universal so I didn't realize at the time I was speaking to 2 different departments at the time. I showed up for my service appointment and was given a completely different and HIGHER quote ($200 more for the same parts and labor). I was told I could go over to the body shop and see if they had the parts and could do the work for my quote, so I did and they could. I had to have a recall taken care of so the service department went ahead and took care of the recall work. Then I drove my car behind the service center to the body shop and they already had the parts brought (from the part shop where the service center was getting them from) and had it replaced in under 15 min!! If I had never been contacted by the body shop in the beginning I would have never known that there was a cheaper alternative for the same exact repair I needed for a fraction of the cost!! So if you need to replace a part I suggest you try the body shop first before the service department, your wallet will thank you!! The 2 stars are for the service department only, they did have my car done in under 2 hours for the recall work. The body shop was more friendly and I would have given them 5 stars. read more

RIPOFF REPORT BE ALERT PAID $10,000 dollars cash last week that's TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS in cash 6 days ago to be exact on a Ford Edge and now THE CAR WILL NOT START NOT EVEN A FULL WEEK LATER. I called the store and my sales manager said almost gleefully that the car was mine-- and I quote "ma'am you signed the papers there's nothing we can do." I'm shocked and appalled because while I'd expect this type of treatment at a buy here pay here, I paid the extra dollars to shop at Ford because I thought the brand would afford me the protection of an honest deal. I'm a single mother in school and I don't have $10,000 dollars to just throw away. I was literally forced to give up my 2002 Honda that's broke down after Almost 20 years on the road over 227,000 miles for a 2011 Ford with less than 100,000 miles that breaks in literally SIX DAYS this is nonsense I'm so devastated. I have no idea how I'm going to get to work or school or how my kid will get to her doctor's appointment next week. To add insult to injury after conning me out of my hard earned money they didn't even cover the $300 dollar tow I paid to get the vehicle back out of the store. This is wrong and horrible way to do business I'm sick with worry and regret my heart hurts because I just don't have the funds to be swindled out of $10,000 dollars I just don't know what I'm going to do. read more

The sales ladies name I did business with is Mida Konian, she was an absolute pleasure to do business with and made my wife Tina and I very comfortable, never had one lick of bad news for us and had a smile on her face every time. After I bought a 2014 Ford Escape Titanium from her for my wife, a couple of months later I decided it was my turn so obviously I returned straight to her and purchased a 2014 F-150 from her. I've bought many vehicles in my lifetime but never have I felt comfortable with a salesman until now with Mida, she never reminded me of a salesman, she was just an absolute joy to be around. Dishonest Dealer. Don't buy vehicles from them. I bought a Chevy Avalanche at this dealership in January 2018. A week within buying the car I heard a knock in the engine. I was under the impression that I had 30 days to return the car in the case that I was dissatisfied with the vehicle. I returned to the dealership to return the truck, and they told me that the contract of sale was "as is". I took the car to a Chevy repair shop and they told me the engine needs to be completely replaced at a cost of $7,000. I took the report back to the dealer who again told me that they would not do anything to help. I said that I would sue them, and they said that as the contract was "as is" I have no legal recourse. I do not recommend this dealer to anyone, and will be reporting them to the better business bureau. read more

Hands down the worst service department of any car dealership in my life! Had transit van with 7,000 miles on it towed when it shut down and wouldn't start. Fully warrantees and needed an alternator and power control module, but took 9 days for them to fix it. Took 5 days for them to even look at it to determine what was wrong. Would not return calls or keep me informed of what was going on. I had to call numerous times over the 9 days. NINE DAYS! This is not the lace to go if you want your car fixed in any sort of a timely manner! read more

My brand new car has been in and out of the shop. Every time they claim they fixed the issue it goes back in after a short amount of time. We have emailed and called asking for a manager to call us because not having a car for long periods of time and working is inconvenient especially with how much we pay them. Never going back to Sunstate Ford again. Several years ago after an oil change and yearly check up, when i got home the oil dipstick was laying across the radiator when I checked under the hood. Stopped going to them. Two months ago, I use Mullinax Ford but needed body shop work, so I had it transferred to Sunstate Ford for the body shop. Immediately I knew there was a problem with the lack of communication about my suv. The whole time it was there I onlu received ONE call from them. The secretary that the car was ready. My service rep was extremely lazy and any questions were treated as they did not matter. I then had a meeting with the office mgr for a claim adjustment due to after market parts. Total paper pusher. No urgency and matter of fact way of just barely doing what is necessary. Total lack of communication while they had my suv. Told they would call when the car arrived, nope. Then when the car would go into the service shop, nope. Then when brought to the body shop, nope. All messages left, never a call back. Terrible service. Don't use them for anything. Go somewhere else. On top of all this they lost a key for my car and wrote me a check for my claim refund to the wrong person. The don't care. And cared even less of correcting the problems. read more

I was interested in buying a new car, much more expensive than my current car. I was given a low offer on my current trade in, which has never happened to me before. I asked them if they would come up since I would be buying a 2015 car that they are trying to get rid off that has been sitting on there lot that is almost double the price of my car. I was talked to in a very unprofessional way. I understand they have to do business and make money, but treat people in a professional manner. You just lost a customer, as well as other future customers because I will not recommend them to anyone. If I could give this review zero stars it would be a more accurate representation of our experience. This past weekend we were car shopping and had done weeks of research deciding which car was going to be the best for our needs. After pricing and finding the best options we decided on the Ford Edge. As we pulled up to Sun State there was a gentleman( I use that term loosely) who met us at our car and immediately asked for our keys for our trade to be appraised. I thought this was odd because we hadn't even seen any cars to show interest in buying from them. He then told us to go look at a certain row of cars and he would be out in a minute. Ten minutes later he walked out and asked what car we wanted to buy. I was taken aback because he hadn't helped us at all or answered any questions. I told him I liked one particular car but not the color. He then said wait out here at this table and I will be right back with some more information about the car. 30 MINUTES LATER in 90° weather he came out to get us and bring us in. At this point I was very upset and felt trapped because they had our car keys. After bringing us inside to his office he then laid out two offers with detailed price breakdowns and asked which option we wanted to go with. I was shocked. We had not even been given the option to test drive the car!! My boyfriend politely said that we were not interested in that car and needed to shop around at different dealerships. The salesman made a complete flip and had a very bad attitude with us saying " Just go then - go ahead!". We couldn't leave because they still had our keys at this point. He told us to wait outside yet again until he brought the car around to us. I have never been treated so badly by someone I was wanting to give money to! I had heard great things about this dealership and was completely disappointed. I thought maybe we just got a dud of a salesman, but every employee that passed us( as we were waiting 30 minutes outside) was rude. I left disgusted and disappointed in what I had just experienced. We actually ended up at Greenway jeep/Dodge and had the best experience. In and out within 2 hours and purchased the best car for us! read more

I came to sun state ford in the hopes of purchasing a new vehicle. I settled with a 2014 F150, and spent the day waiting on financing to get their act together. After telling me that I was approved 4 hours later, I was happy just to be on with my day. That was the beginning: 5 days later I was told the financing wasn't working out. This alarmed me, as I needed this vehicle for work (as I clearly explained) and instead of Charles Kirkland working with me, I started getting calls from other people. The sales guy. Another finance guy. Anybody but Charles. I called him back every day. I sent emails to boot; but no response at all. Just calls from coworkers that I would need to bring the truck back. After 2 weeks of this sophomoric and childish behavior I got tired of it and decided to bring the truck back, with 1000 miles and dings and scratches. All in all this little "charlie-fox" cost me $1000+ in lost work, and it cost the dealership a "new" vehicle that its still going to pawn off to someone else. I bought a car here in November of last year. I waited for almost 6 hours to finally buy my car, and even the sales person barley knew anything about the features listed in the car. They let someone go before us into the signing room, and then hurried me through my details and forgot to sign papers and also forgot to take payment! Then after all the difficulties I came back to get my oil changed and waited almost 2 hours and then went to speak to the manager and he didn't even care. It'll be a cold day in hell before I come back to this location to be mistreated again. read more

We bought a new Fiesta at Sun State last week. Our salesman was Juan. Absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend him (especially if you are a native Spanish speaker). We told Juan what we wanted, he found us the car, and we were out in record time. (For a car dealership anyway.) This is our second vehicle from Sun State. We bought the first in 2008. I had to bring in my car this past Friday for a windshield wiper issue. My Focus was given to Maurice, who pleasantly explained they'd take a look and let me know within an hour. I've had several bad experiences with Ford Dealerships (especially Greenway Ford), with service managers and supervisors going back on their word and outright calling me a liar. Maurice made me feel completely comfortable at the service department, even taking me outside to explain all of the scenarios with me. Ever since the global launch of the Fiesta, I thought it was a great little car. A recent weekend car rental where I was issued a 2013 Fiesta confirmed my thoughts. Shift forward to needing a new car, I went through Ford online, and Sun State was not only the first to respond over a holiday weekend, Mike Abbott -the internet sales person was actually working on New Years Day. Their 'deal' was very fair and I'm pleased. Most of all, I was treated as a valued customer even though I was at the low end of the price spectrum. BTW: their destination fee is several hundred dollars less than the standard. Even without other discounts, it's worth checking them out. read more

I was not at all impressed with the customer service, they tried to sell me services I didn't need, feel they take advantage of females who they think don't know any better. The fact that they charge $135 diagnostic fee is absurd! They took less then 20 minutes to find the problem and that's being generous, to charge $135 fee in addition to the work is outrageous. Emailed & Pedro almost immediately sent a reply with Great prices/payments. The very next morning drove to Sun State to lock up the deal. Major rear brake work. Stacey was my service adviser. She is always helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable. The price was fair, the service was prompt, and all work was properly completed. Plus, I was provided a $40 on-line rebate by Stacey, which was easily completed. Within 24 hours I received confirmation that the rebate was approved. Excellent!
