This shop is a scam. Don't ever go here! I went in for an oil change they told me my shocks needed to be repaired and quoted me 372$ I went to 2 other shops and absolutely NOTHING was wrong with my shocks! I have been a loyal loyal customer for several years, even defended this place when I heard that someone was mistreated but today.... I feel very different.. today I spoke with Joe, who proceeded to tell that the haven't taken walk ins in two years which isn't 100% true because I've never made an appointment with them and then I went on to tell him that I had actually something wrong with my car which I requested that he heard instead of me explaining and he dismissed and said "what is the sound?" I tried my best to explain and then said he would check later in an annoyed tone... I left feeling very interrupted and dismissed... I called later to tell him i was going else because of how dismissed I felt and he interrupted me and said "if you can't take a no in this world lady then you have bigger problems" and aggressively hung up on me... when really I don't care about being put in a 1 pm slot than I was upset about how I was treated when I walked into the establishment... I'm very disappointed and upset that my loyalty didn't matter much to this man... I would now no longer recommend going here... it wouldn't have been that way if he would've treated me more like a human than an inconvenience... Probably the worst place i have ever been to and will never go to again, i got EXTREMELY overpriced for a simple transmission fix. It took 5 times longer then they had originally told me it was going to take making me spend extra money coming too and from to check in on it (Im a marine from Camp Pendleton CA) building up to there horrible services, every time i spoke with them the price changed. They were rude and had no concern for my well being or the fact that i had gone out of my way multiple times to try and make things work. Top dollar parts were purchased most of which i did not even need. and the thing that really ticks me off is the fact that my car still is not running how it should be and problems that were identified had not even been attempted to be fixed. Overpriced and treated like trash? Because thats exactly how you treat someone who fights for your freedom. Why even bother getting shot at if all i have to look forward to is horrible businesses like this trying to rip me off any chance they get. even as I speak im having to file a fraud charge on these cracker jack "pros" because they charged me an extra $600 even though i have a receipt stating i paid in full and the best part. they did not even get my permission to take the $600 out of the account and the day they called me i was in the field so i tip my hat to you as the WORST business to ever scratch the surface of coming close to a decent establishment. and from most of the reviews and posts it seems to me that this buisness likes to target underaged adults and females on the belief that we don't know what we are doing. i highly advise anyone and everyone to not even give this place a second look when choosing car care service providers. i really wish there was an option to give no, or even negative stars. Cannot comment on the work done as I caught the mechanic giving a wink at the desk guy as we walked out to look at our suv. He said it was the alternator, even showing us the dodgy readings on his measuring tool (trying too hard to sell something we did not need). They even offered us a refrigerator to store our grocery while they changed the alternator (4 hours wait suggested). I was a mechanic and the wink put me on full-alert. We got out and got to an Auto Zone and turns out it was the battery only. The "failing alternator" lasted another 4 years, we sold it, and I'm sure it's still going well. Went in for an oil change on a weekday and waited in the lobby for FIVE hours. You can't tell me you were really that busy that you couldn't do a fifteen minute job in all that time, especially when I was the only person there for quite awhile. Horrible customer service. Kept telling me it would be out in 15 minutes...until 5 hours passed. What a waste of time. Price was decent but not for the experience. Definitely won't go back. read more

This shop is total crap. My car was overheating so I pulled off and went to the closest shop. I couldn't get through to my boyfriend on the phone so I asked them to look at it. After telling me that my repair would be covered under my warranty (I only had my used car about 3 or 4 months and had a warranty through a third party company) I come to find out that it wasn't covered and got charged $120 for a tiny little "T" that connected two tubes. It was sitting right on top of the engine and if I had been given the part I could have done it myself. After waiting over and hour for this ridiculously easy repair I was given a "discount" by the manager of $20 because I was a fellow Jetta owner, this is after he showed me his really expensive Jetta logo sunglasses he got for $200. What a jerk. So then when I get home and look under my hood to show my boyfriend the really easy part that was replaced I notice my VW logo emblem on my engine cover had been popped off. I contemplated going back to the shop and screaming at someone but didn't want to have to go back there for any reason and I knew the jerk would just deny it. I'm almost positive the guy I dealt with most was the manager, though I am not sure what his name was. read more

They took complete advantage of the fact that I "don't know any better" and told me a needed new struts immediately and that it would cost around $900. The website scheduling isn't accurate to the availability so I call ahead of time! They thoroughly inspected the vehicle including recommending my wiper blades be replaced... Only issue is they recommended both wiper blades be replaced when I already replaced the passenger side (driver's side was being delivered)...not a big deal as it was only a recommendation. read more

Sun Devil has been the only place I've taken my car since I moved here almost 9yrs ago. I've never had an issue with them until last week. I dropped my car off to get my AC fixed at 6:45am. I put my keys in the mail slot and heard it hit the floor on the other end. 8:30am comes around and I get a call that they can't find my keys. Another hour passes and they still haven't them. I get to Sun Devil and lucky my car is still there but my doors are unlocked and my registration is missing. Finally after determining that my keys were basically stolen they wanted me to pay to get another set of keys made for my car after they lost them. I was dealing with Dave and he stated that the General Manager said that I never dropped my keys off. That makes no sense since my car was still there waiting for the insurance company to come check out the damage to my car. I have been here a couple times for basic car maint like oil changes- was nothing too impressive. However, this past week, I stopped by there with my new car for an oil change and to check the brakes because I was in the area. This places has really changed! I believe it was the manager I was dealing with ( Alex maybe? ) who was so friendly and incredibly helpful. I was willing to pay the money to have my brakes changed however, he inspected them and said I still have 50% left and the squeak I keep hearing was actually from the type of brakes that had been put on. Not only was he helpful, but he was also knowledgeable and its rare to have an auto repair shop not try to take advantage of you. He could have easily said my brakes were bad and made the money, but he was honest and that will make me come back for every car repair I need from now on. They are very unreasonable with there payment plans and have no regard for customers needs. They told me one thing and did another and put my checking account in the negative. I took a family members vehicle in today for an oil change. I had been here once before briefly in 2009, but really don't remember much about it. I dropped the car off for an hour and shopped at the nearby JCP. When i went back to get the vehicle I was greeted by an employee by the name of Matt. He was EXTREMELY nice and insightful. There was no pressure to do purchase other maintenance or anything he just explained what was recommended and broke everything down for me in an easy to understand format(i'm clueless about cars). He was so great and made the experience so enjoyable that I am going back this weekend to take my own vehicle!! The manager was very nice as well. The special they have going on is for $17.95 oil change. I can get 2 oil changes here for the same cost (or even less than the cost of 1 from most places).. I strongly recommend this place and will take my car here from now on. (even though I don't live very close) read more

I can't say enough good things about Sun Devil Auto. Our RV broke down on a Friday evening, we couldn't find an open shop after calling many until we called Sun Devil, and Eli, Jeff, and Kirk couldn't have been more helpful! Not only did they schedule the tow for first thing Saturday and tell us they could definitely get it looked at on Saturday, but they did an absolutely amazing job on it, their customer service was way beyond expectations, and in general, they went far beyond anything I've ever experienced with a mechanic. I had my oil changed at Right Honda. Scott in service showed me an inspection sheet showing my brakes needed replacement. Specifically 2 mm on front pads and 3 on rear He told me I badly needed replacement. I said I'd wait. I checked prices and Sun Devil was over $100 cheaper so I scheduled brake service. Today they got my car on the rack and then told me that my brakes were fine and did not need replacement. They took me back into the shop and showed me the brake pads on car. I appreciate that they were honest. I was prepared to leave the car and have four brakes replaced. I will now have my cars serviced at Sun Devil on Bell and Right Honda won't see me again. read more

My son had his car serviced at Sun Devil Auto in Awatuchee . I decided to give them a try. I needed a total brake job ... in that brake job it included brake pads and rotors , to which i paid a fee of 310 dollars. Three months later i didnt have any brakes only one side of my car was braking due to something called calipers . I Thought that when you ask someone to do a total brake job that would include calipers. Anyways i took the cart back to see if i had a warranty .. .to which i was told i did . I was told i needed calipers that they never put in on the car... so now i need to pay an additional 310 dollars again. I would say this much that so called general manager is worthless .. and so are the employees there. I would never take my car there again . Its sad that there is truly no customer serice anymore, and people that truly care . Never would they get me in any of those place called sun devil the name fits them well. read more

I can't say how releaving it was to deal with Rolly at the Sun Devil Auto on Ray and 50th st. After dealing with the lying employees at Advanced Auto I called around to get quotes because Advance Auto quoted me $1250 and Sun Devil came back with a quote of $680!!!!! I couldn't blieve the difference. They even towed my car for free. Rolly kept in contact with me and even saved me money on parts that could be saved that Advance Auto wanted to charge me for. I will be taking my car back to Sun Devil Auto from now on and I suggest you do the same! read more

I have to say Maurice at the counter was very pleasant and helpful. I brought my car in because the brake light on the dash would go on and off. With the inspection, Jason (the tech assigned) discovered I needed brake pads. The guys installed front brake pads, resurfaced rotors etc.. The back rear brakes were cleaned and adjusted. I had my catylitic coverter replace 3 years ago spent 1200 dollars. I got my check engine light on had code pulled by Volvo and they said it was my catalytic converter. I new it just was put in when I told Volvo what I spent they said for that price it is not a universal one but a better one with longer warranty at least 5 yrs. I called sun devil and they said it only has 1 yr warranty. I called 3 parts stores and all the catylitic converters had 5 yr warranty and I could by it for 350 . I called them and found out that if I had bought the converter myself I would have had the 5 yr warranty but they would not have put in at the time . what a rip off. read more

These guys do terrible work. DO NOT USE THESE GUY FOR ANYTHING. They have poorly trained technicians who make terrible DANGEROUS mistakes. In addition they clearly try and rip people off. I was told my vehicle needed a very expensive repair. I decided to get a second opinion and took my vehicle to the manufacturer. The managers here are the most genuine people I've ever associated with at any car repair. They do not pressure you in anyway to buy anything that you don't want and even tell you about possible alternatives they could not do and where you could get it fixed for cheaper. My son is purchasing a Mustang and my husband and I insisted the cars be inspected prior to sealing the deal. We met the seller at Sun Devil on Ray Rd and paid $41 for an inspection. The inspection was timely, thorough, and well worth the money spent. Dustin and his team were awesome! They provided a detailed list of needed repairs and explained each. I'm not well versed with cars and the engine details so I really appreciate having these experts on our side. We will be picking up the car this weekend once all the noted repairs are taken care of. I really don't know where to begin with this company. This was my first and last time going to this place first of all I went there because my check engine light came on never had that happen wanted to see if they can let me know what the code was and I was willing to pay for this the owner or the manager that sat in the very back office stated he would have his technicians look at the code and let me know what the problem was they did that 30 minutes later the manager came back to he said I had a oil leak I needed a Cadillac converter and that I obviously had not been taking care of my car: I did not appreciate that because I very much take care of my car it is always been serviced by the dealer. I asked him what was the total cost to repair my vehicle there they did not have the part there but said they can get the part. I waited another 30 minutes in the lobby and I can hear the manager in the back office on the phone speaking to someone about dinner functions while I was waiting for him to bring out estimate on the total cost for my vehicle I got tired of waiting so I went out to the bay with my car was the technician asked me if I was ready to leave I stated that I was waiting for his manager to bring me estimates back so so I would know what the total cost was while my car was on the rag I asked the technician to show me where there was an oil leak because I just 30 minutes before arriving at their shop had an oil change they stated that it was a seal that was leaking I told them I park in the same place every day at work and at home I did not have an oil leak I asked him to lower my car so that I can go because it was taking their manager tool Long to give me an estimate finally the assistant manager came out with three different estimates one was for Catalytic converter for $1400 which are priced at 750 at the dealer and they were charging me the 140 Dollars core fee that they were going to keep that And not alley it to me then another estimate was to change the seal on the oil filter a $5.26 part and they were going to charge me $115 to put that five dollar part on the car the third estimate was for a kit to clean out my fuel injectors and that was for $300 so all in all 17 $1800 fee I left there went to the dealer and priced the part and found out that because of the low mileage on my vehicle . It was covered under warranty thank God for that. The dealer also did a 50 point check and determined I did not have an oil leak and my vehicle was in excellent shape I will not go back to this shop. read more

Only reason I ended up here was my car died in the area. I figured it would cost too much to have my car towed to my mechanic....boy was I wrong. Sun Devil told me I needed a new fuel pump and also another part that drives the fuel pump. Total with parts and labor would be $1,542.00. I told them not to do anything yet and called my mechanic. He told me that he can do the exact same work including labor and parts for $494.00 a difference of $1,048. Needless to say, I've had my car towed to my mechanic. When I called this business back and told them the price difference the guy said, "wow, is he using used parts?" I said no and that I was getting a lifetime warranty. I w ill NEVER again take my car anywhere other than the mechanic I, my kids and their friends have used for years.....we can and do trust him. I feel I was taken advantage of by Sun Devil Auto because I am a woman and a senior. They were nice enough to talk too, but man, can you say OVER CHARGE FOR SERVICES.I don't know how they get their A+ rating from BBB. That impressed me when I saw that sign, but it doesn't impress me now, especially after one of the employees at Sun Devil told me the owner of Sun Devil sits on the board of the BBB.........I will never trust a "chain" auto repair place again, NEVER I got a call from Steve today 3/31 saying he was the supervisor at this business and wanted to discuss why I was given the quote of $1,542.00. During the conversation he said they were getting the fuel pump directly from Ford and that's why it was so expensive at $828.00. I told him I googled fuel pumps to purchase myself at various places and the most expensive one online I could find was just over $300. I told Steve I was going to call a Ford dealership to see how much they would do this work for me, replacing the fuel pump and the module driver. I called a Ford dealer and they quoted me a price, for parts and labor of $725.00. When I told him what Sun Devil Auto quoted me, the man from Ford said no, no way it costs that much. So, again I say I will NEVER bring my car to Sun Devil Auto as their quote is way above even what a Ford dealership quoted. read more

You know that dreaded call? The one that you can get from an auto shop, where they tell you that you that they "found something unexpected"? I got that call today-- I'm like, "Shit. Herrrreee we go..."-- and had just the second pleasant surprise from an auto shop, ever. I drive an '06 Hyundai Sonata. She's old. 220k+ miles, old. Honestly, I'm just trying to keep her going till the Tesla Model 3 is out. I was willing to pay more than my car is worth, (~$2k to fix EVERYTHING and get back up to par-- AC compressor, door handle, sparkplugs, etc) as long as it was still less than six months of car payments, to get another year out of her. Sun Devil Auto outbid two other local shops so I went with them. So, got the dreaded call. After fixing everything as agreed, there is a deeper issue that they couldn't identify, originally (I had multiple codes), and it would cost *significantly* more to get the car up to speed. Instead of trying to hustle me, lie to me, let me roll out of the garage to be surprised later, Chris explained things to me transparently. More importantly, they did not charge me for ANY of the work that they did in fixing my other issues. They proved that they can be trusted-- a rarity in the industry, I feel- and gained a permanent customer. Shockingly impressive! read more

Horrible customer service. I just came in for a tire pressure check. I'm waiting a few mins for someone to even come to the front (I recommend maybe getting a bell so you know when customers come in) and finally a guy comes up and asks if I've been helped. Let him know I was just wanting someone to check my tire pressure. He says okay and tells me to pull around. Doesn't give me a time frame when someone will help me. So I'm thinking it will be fast. 15 mins goes by and NOT ONE PERSON even acknowledges me. Mind you I'm in front of a lane with two people working. maybe a total of 4-5 guys in the shop. And not one person came over to even tell me hey someone will be right with you. I ended up leaving cause I needed to be to work. Even tho I may not of been paying its the fact that I was a customer and did not receive proper customer service. 3 other people walked in while I was waiting there and I'm sure they were helped not a problem. I took my car to this shop because it is right next to my work and where I live. I have to say overall I was very pleased with the service. My car is about 8 years old, and has about 130,000 miles on it. More than that though, I have been very rough and not taken good care of it. After a few diagnostic checks, they came back with a myriad of issues within my engine and transmission, and the price tag was rather hefty for what I wanted to pay (about $1200). The part of the service by Alex, and Matt, that I really liked (that ha sbeen mentioned here numerous times), is that they really do try to explain to you what everything means, and they don't pressure you into fixing something that doesn't "need" to fixed. I let them know that I just need my car to last me through the year, so we passed on a lot of other maintencance that was unnecessary. I have also brought my car back a few times since, and they didn't charge me to run more tests, and do simple replacement of smaller parts. So, while I did put down a large chunk of money on my car, I feel comfortable with the management here. I would come back to them as long as Alex is there. Hopefully I won't need to. read more
