I've been a loyal customer for 10 years. 2_months ago I had one tire replaced on the right rear. Last week my left rear tire needed replacing. They said they'd have to order a new tire since they didn't have a suitable replacement in stock. 6 hours later they called and said my car was ready and the cost would be $220. When I went to pick the car up I was told that this new tire wasn't compatible with the opposite tire. He said that when tires were rotated I'd probably need to replace all of them. Really??? I just paid $220 for a tire I don't want. I said if you told me I'd go to Discount Tires or somewhere else I'm totally disappointed. read more

I tried doing a walk in at 7am for an oil change. I was told by Ryan that there was not an available appointment until 3pm and my car won't be ready until 4/5pm. I checked online and there were appointments available at 10, 11 and other slots before then. I called asking about that availability, Ryan picked up and rudely told me that the system is wrong. That like he said earlier 3pm is the only slot open and nothing else was available meaning my car won't be ready until 4/5. I went next door to brake masters and they were able to get me right away no appointment. Prior to my visit to Sun Devil Auto I had only two things wrong with my car a small leak in one of the hoses exiting the engine and a parking sensor light. I left with an empty tank of coolant and now more damage to my car. If that isn't awful service then I don't know what it. They're careless. I took my car into to get cold heater fixed and to look at the lag in shifting when driving. I came out w a $1000 bill and my car not being able to go in reverse. They said I did damage to my transmission by not replacing fluid. It stopped working all of a sudden w fluid in it. I'd rather have my car go in reverse than not have heater. I have a 2500HD Denali and it requires 2 batteries.... I arrived around 4 and was heading home with two new batteries by 4:45 and have a 5 year warranty on them.... best part if they wear out in this desert heat and more than likely they will before the 5 years.... it's only $30 each to replace them.... Ben and Bo were awesome, professional and knowledgeable.... They were really rude and never told us to bring the car back a week after our service and got angry at us when we went back with the same issue. but they never informed us we needed to return. We even looked at the papers and saw they said they found nothing. tried to charge us for more freon. i have had nothing but bad experiences here and they have horrible customer service as well as shady exploitative practices with replacing parts needlessly as well as break parts on our cars unrelated to any of the things we went in for. like how do you break a car when we get an oil change. read more

Issue # 1- I left the shop with the understanding that upon completion of the inspection I would be informed of the findings to discuss the issue and the possible fix. As was the process in my previous experience. Last time I waited onsite as I had no means of transportation. Solution- You need to need to make clear to your customers that your policies have changed as well as provide documentation stating this to avoid confusion. Issue # 2- As I stated (you can confirm this in your records), it had only been one year since the system had been completely recharged since leaving the factory. (2015 model, 1st system recharge 05/20) At the May/2020 service I was charged the following fees: Diagnostic fee (labor) $126 Evaluation and recharge fee (labor) $116.79 A/C Oil- Dye mixture $5.06 Per gram fee for r1234yf freon ($.38 per gram X 650grams) $247 (system was pretty much empty) Shop Supplies $39.59 Sales Tax $22.75 Total $557.19 Since it had only been one year since the system had been recharged (May/2020), and the A/C was working at the time I took my car in (albeit, not at optimum level), it is unlikely the system would require another complete recharge. Regardless, I was charged a blanket freon recharge fee of $450. (see below) Evac/Recharge (labor) $150 Blanket R1234yf (freon) fee $450 ???? A/C port valve replacement $25.20 Shop Supplies $31.26 Sales Tax $37.54 Discount -$50 Total $644 So, regardless of the amount of freon required to recharge the A/C system, you charge your customers a flat rate. Based in these padding tactics, my total bill was almost $100 MORE than the complete recharge I was charged for in May/2020. Your lack of transparency of informing your customers of a potentially financially crippling bill needs to be reevaluated. Especially in times like these when people are struggling to feed their families. Not everyone has $650 laying around for A/C repairs. SUMMARY: If I had simply received a CALL informing me of the effort and cost required to fix my car, I would have been able to make an informed decision on my own as a consumer. I can only surmise this is the exact scenario you are trying to avoid so that your customers are forced to pay. read more

Needed to get an oil change and our preferred mechanic couldn't get us in so went to Sun Devil based on referral from our friend (who by the way, has spent THOUSANDS on her van at Sun Devil Auto. Their "inspection" of the truck with the oil change resulted in their recommendation for repairs to the tune of $2100! We took the truck back to our mechanic and found that the truck needed a repair costing under $200. What a rip off! That is where any semblance of service stopped. I made first contact and they said since this was a drop off they had 30 cars ahead of me. After I told them I made an appointment they said they did not have it on their books. After that, all contact was mine, they never called me with an update. When I went to pick up car, after nothing was found to be wrong, there was a $175 diagnostic charge, which should be covered under warranty of vehicle. Never again! read more

Called A SECOND TIME the day before our appointment to confirm since WE WERE COMING FROM A DIFFERENT CITY and we're given the ok that 1) our appointment was still in place and 2) that my vehicle would be done before I had to leave for work. All confirmed, Ronnie took the calls and reassured both days. We come in for the appointment and both Jamie and Mario were not only rude and lazy (looked difficult for them to get up from the desk and greet my boyfriend when entering their establishment and even myself when I went back in ) and not only told him there was no appointment but didn't even offer to help. Told my boyfriend Ronnie was a floater, not sure what they did but were booked and can't help. So if you're looking for a reliable and friendly neighborhood mechanic, Sun Devil Auto IS NOT THE PLACE. Not until my boyfriends dad calls upset, were we offered the help we originally came in for. Needless to say we left before any help was offered, we decided not to go back to have them do it. Based on a lot of the recent reviews, this location has some poor managers calling the shots. Went in for a $25 oil change last week. The appointment setting process online was quick and easy as was the check in early morning. During my oil change, the front desk technician asked me to look at my car as he had bad news. He told me one of my shocks were "blown out" and leaking fluid everywhere. I found this odd as I had not noticed any leaks in my garage or driveway. He took me inside and started mansplaining how shocks work with a conveniently placed model of how tires are affected by blown shocks. There were also a couple of flyers for an event from a auto shock manufacturer called "Shocktober" on the inside of the office wall. It felt like incentivized up-selling, so I opted to have my regular mechanic take a look. The technician became very rude and made a scene yelling to the guy working on my car "I guess this guy doesn't want the right work done. Just do the oil change." When I left he also told me I suddenly had a gasket leak too. My car ran very different the next few days and my regular mechanic informed me they did not put enough oil in during my change. He also repaired my "blown out" shock (it had a small leak) for way less than they quoted. STAY AWAY unless you want your car to come back in worse shape than before. read more

I got an oil change this weekend, finally. I was over due, and had the time to set aside for this task. My boss had reccomended this place becuase they are affordable, and they have multiple valley locations. I went to the one closer to my house, as it was the most convienient for me. Now mind you, I had Friday off work. I wanted to beat the weekend crowd of oil changes, so I tried to get in Friday afternoon. They do not take appointments (at least at this location) and work off a first come first serve basis. So, I roll in Friday afternoon at like 4ish. I go in and talk to the guy and it didn't look busy to me. Baiscally, he said that he couldn't fit me in right now, and the earliest he could get to my oil change was first thing Saturday morning. I wasn't going to leave my car overnight for a stupid oil change! (not that he wanted me too, but seriously? People do that? I haven't done that since I was in college and could go without the car for 24 hours. Not now!) Anyways, I went back the next morning and got it changed. Its $17.95, but since my car is stupidly special, mine cost a little extra becuase its a 4x4 and they have to put in 5w30 oil for it, and not the usual stuff. My total was $29 after tax. They are good about posting pricing signs thier store, but if your not there at the crack of dawn, I wouldn't count on getting it done. read more

Whatever you do, DO NOT use this auto shop! We came in for a check engine light issue... the manager told us everything that needed to be replaced was about $3,000. So, we paid it to avoid buying a new vehicle. Two days later... check engine light came back on, took it back in. They said it "was a bad part." Which I thought was odd bc weren't you supposed to fix that in the first place? We leave the check engine light was off. A week later... check engine light comes back on... same exact scenario!!!! Literally a week later.... check engine light come back on.... now they tell us the fuel tank needs to be repaired and will cost almost $1,800!!!! The manager offers only half of our money back!!!!!! Basically, these guys are bad business people and crooks! They did not fix anything at all!!!! Save yourself the time and save yourself the money!!!! I actually wanted to send an email to the company but I cannot find an online link to do that so I will present my issue here. For the most part I have been fairly happy with this repair facility but I had my oil changed on September 10th last month and apparently they lost the 4 bolts to my skid plate that needs to be removed and put back on when the filter is replaced because I found one bolt only holding the rear of the panel up and that was not even close to the original bolts. The only reason I noticed this is because I came out of work to drive my 14 miles back home and the front of this steel plate was almost touching the ground. The one bolt they used loosened up or was never tightened and was half out itself. I hardly drive this vehicle so no the bolts did not fall out. If this steel plate would have dropped down and grabbed the freeway at 65 mph, I cannot imagine what would have happened! I don't think it would have bent in half. I didn't have time to go back in their shop with this issue. I just took the skid plate off in the parking lot and got 4 new bolts from the dealer and just put the skid plate back on. A few years ago they sent out another vehicle of mine to another shop to reseal a transfer case and the rear half of the skid plate was not put back on and was never found. Considering what just happened, I do not believe I will be taking my vehicle there for an oil change or any other service in the near future. read more

I took my vehicle into the Thunderbird location and the service rep was very nice and seemed to care about my needs. I left them my vehicle and they competed the work described on there invoice. Now we are less than 24 months in and I am having an issue with the same problem I took my vehicle in for. I called them to see what the warranty was on the product they installed and I was told 24 months or 24000 miles. When I let them know the work they did they back pedaled and told me a I only had a 12 month 12000 mile warranty. What kind of place does that. It seems they are very dishonest and they are only looking out for them selves. Be very careful with this shop and make sure to get everything in writing or they will not live up to there end. Sorry to have to through them under the bus but word of mouth is everything in customer service and they are lacking in customer service. read more
