I have to say that I do love this place. The warranty on my Mini Cooper S ran out, and I needed an oil change. They did it for $60 compared to the $100 I'd get elsewhere. They also replaced my brakes for a very reasonable price. They told me my rear brakes were hardly worn down and I'd get a lot more use out of them. I trust them to be honest and not try to get people to pay more money for things they don't need. They're my go to shop. read more

I took my car in because of a starting issue. The manager had told me it was the alternator. And it was going to cost 850 bucks. So my brother in law said it's just the battery . So I replaced battery jad it tested again and it's fine so they just ripped me off for the diagnostic fee of 120 bucks to be told wrong information and trying to make money off me. Also they said that my warranty wasn't any good but it is. It was a new car. What a rip off dont believe them they can be wrong. read more

They are HORRIBLE!!!!!! They did a brake job on my truck. There was a problem immediately. Within a 6 month period I brought the grinding and scraping noise to their attention 6 times. They did nothing! I took my truck to Jack's Brake and Alignment for a diagnosis. It was explained what needed to be done. I returned to Sun Devil explained where I had gone and what was recommended. They did follow the recommendation and I was OUT OF THERE AND NEVER TO RETURN. I called corporate; they don't care either! read more

I went to Sun Devil Auto, Bethany Home Location because its prices seemed competitive. I went in to fix my brakes and my check engine light was on. I also had to to drive to California and wanted to make sure that my car would drive there and back without me being lost in the middle of the desert. My brakes were fixed but my check engine light turned back on 3 days later. I was then told not only did i have to pay to have my engine checked, okay I know that all most car repair business to charge, so I paid my $65.00. I was then told then I had to pay another $60.00 to have a special engine check because my car is so new, it is a 2005! To make a long story short, cut to me walking to 2 miles to my hotel in Long Beach because my car broke down at a parking meter! I'm a 22 year old female who moved by myself last year. I used Sun Devil auto when I first moved here and had a good experience, I didn't feel taken advantage of. I took my car in yesterday and a mechanic who hasn't helped me before completely took advantage of me. As a female who moved here without my dad, I don't know a lot about cars, although I do know the basics. I was told I needed $900 worth of service done including a leak in my battery. Assuming they were being honest, I told them to do everything BUT the battery because I can do that myself, saving 200$. After picking up my car, I looked at my battery which had NO leak and is still good for at least 24 more months. Thank God I didn't let them steal an extra 200$ from me. . After looking at the receipt of the work done, almost 500$ (of the 700$) was completely unnecessary. Do not take your car here, these men are not honest. Whenever you move to a new neighborhood you have to start all over again finding a great grocery store, salon, and auto shop. Glad I can check auto shop off my list! I am so glad that this place is right around the corner from me and the guys that work here are awesome! The prices are reasonable, the service is friendly, and I didn't feel like they were trying to pull a fast one on me by suggesting any unnecessary maintenance. As a woman, I struggle to find trustworthy mechanics (because I know nothing about cars and people tend to take advantage of that). It was refreshing to leave a place and not have to immediately call my dad for once, to verify all of the suggested repairs. Keep up the good work guys! read more

Unfortunately, my A/C had been acting funny(not producing enough air volume). I called one day prior to bringing my vehicle in to make an appointment early in the afternoon in hopes it would be finished by the end of the day. I called Friday morning to make an appointment for Saturday(today). I was assured to "bring it on in" and they will get it handled by today. Two hours went by with no phone call or update. I called the store to find out what was going and was given two very short and rude answers to my questions basically saying they hadn't even looked at the car yet and to not call because they will call me when it's done. If you think you have an "appointment" to get in at that specific time you wanted, you're wrong. Sun Devil Auto sucks and is unprofessional. I am most definitely finding a much better place to go for further problems. read more

Was in town visiting family and needed to have an oil change done on my 92 miata. Devan was very helpful and everything was fairly priced.

I recently had an oil change done on a Nissan Altima. Drove home and parked. The next morning I noticed a reasonably big oil stain in my drive way. I thought that maybe some oil had spilled onto a flat surface under the car and drooled off when I parked in my inclined driveway. Did not think much of it, as this has happened to me before, albeit in another car. When I ended up with three more large stains in my driveway, I assumed that either the drainplug on the oil pan or the oil filter gasket were leaking. When I drove it back to SunDevil on Bethany Home, they put it on a lift to check it out. Fourtyfive minutes later, the manager informed me that the problem was not with what I thought was leaking, but rather a bad power steering assembly. He showed me an obviously freshly cleaned oil pan and filter and pointed at the oil covered area behind the oil filter. Even though I insisted that the oil in my driveway was engine oil and not power steering fluid, he told me that the car was dangerous to drive and that that there was a small, sealed reservoir attached to my power steering and I would be running out of power steering fluid soon, at which point my car would become extremely hazardous to drive. He then handed me an estimate for $2000 to replace the power steering assembly and wanted me to leave the car with him. I thanked him, drove the car home and checked the power steering reservoir, which like most cars is easily accessible under the hood. The level was on the lower edge, but there was no way that the little reservoir would be responsible for the four big oil stains. When I walked out to the car the next morning, it miraculously had stopped leaking oil and has not done so since. I am sure that the mechanic tightened up the oil filter or changed the gasket while on the hoist, but instead of owning up to a minor mistake, they decided to try and liberate me of $2000 for a replacement of a perfectly functioning part. read more

As I was running errands on very hot Saturday afternoon, the driver's side window came down on its own and I could not get it back up. I was near Sun Devil on Bethany/7th Street so I stopped by even though they were very busy. They said that they could look at it, told me it needed a new motor and had it repaired in 1 1/2 hours. The cost was somewhat pricey but they took care of me. They even gave me a 10% senior discount (I had to ask). Satisfied customer! read more

Had my 16 year old daughter take her Toyota FourRunner in for a simple oil change. She was accompanied by her sisters 28 year old boyfriend and they had their Nissan Titan in for an oil change also. Everything was good, they made some recommendations and stated there was some sort of leak to my 16 year old which should have been addressed to the 28 year old. After going home and trying to start her car later that evening it would not start and the smell of fuel was present. Come to find out the fuel line had been tampered with creating a leak. Had it looked at and was told there was no way that could just come out by itself. Mind you we have had no problems with this vehicle since we bought it in April of 2017. There are only 38,000 miles on the new motor. We had called and asked what type of leak they had stated and they said they did not know they would have to steam clean it to find out. The air filter was also stated that it needs to be replaced however when we did replace it, it wasn't that dirty to have needed to be replaced. Our family has been using Sun Devil for the past 7 to 8 years, but they have lost a total of 5 vehicles with our account. read more

When I showed up the manager Craig said "I ruined his time" if that is the case then why didnt you have me reschedule? I would've been more than happy to bring my car another day. Avoid these assholes at all cost. They tried charging me a grand in unnecessary work. $900 for 'completely destroyed motor mounts' and $90 for fuel system cleaner.. I hope anyone that goes here is smart enough to get a second opinion. My motor mounts have been confirmed in perfect condition by another shop and my fuel system clean cost 10 bucks. read more

Sun Devil team is amazing. I seen this shop many times driving down Bethany Home Rd. But one day, I had to get states emission testing and I had a check engine light on. That is an automate fail. The check engine light had several meanings. But my story is a long one with different misfortunate events since I initially brought the car to the shop. But! at the end of the my 4 or 5 day trial - today. They said my car is ready for emissions testing. I did not break-the-bank getting my car fixed. What they did for me was just wonderful. Went to sun-devil today to replace a alternator that went bad. Not only did they charge me $194.00 for a RE-MANUFACTURED Denso 210-0130 (worth $118!!!!). They conveniently forgot to tell me about the core charge (also refusing to give me the old part) or the fact that the crap they were selling me is re-manufactured. We haven't tried Sun Devil for over 3 years now and my husband decided to give them 1 last try. On Monday, he spoke Craig (mgr) to get prices on an oil change and an estimate on replacing his front brakes on his 2013 Tundra. Everything seemed fine and on the up & up. Craig noticed that we haven't been to Sun Devil in years and asked why. My husband explained that after George left this location years ago things just haven't been the same. Craig thanked him for giving them another chance and that he wouldn't be disappointed and assured him that they would take good care of him. With that in mind, my husband made an 8am appt for Saturday 10/28. He drops the car off for the oil change and was told they'll inspect the brakes to let him know what work may need to be done. It's after 12pm and we're running errands and drive by Sun Devil and we see that his truck is sitting in the same spot as when he dropped it off, it's only there for an oil change. He calls and was told that they're busy and haven't gotten to it yet and they'll try and squeeze it in. So, why did we make an appointment at 8am for it to just sit there all day? I suggested that he pick up his truck and we'll take it somewhere else. Then we drove down there at 12:30 and grabbed the truck, my husband asked Craig why the oil change still wasn't done yet and he was told again that they were busy. So, in conclusion this location just doesn't have it right and we will NEVER bring business to them again. read more

Called to ask about getting an oil change and what it might cost and person on the phone mentioned they have a coupon on thier web page for $19.95 and it includes an oil change. I drive a Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi so I already knew it would probably be a little more as most coupons only cover so much. I'm cool with it. Made my 10AM appointment with them over the phone and was even given a courtesy text to remind me this morning of my scheduled time. Nice touch! Showed up on time and they quickly got my truck done in less than an hour while I walked around the corner to Otro for breakfast (Great spot!). With the coupon and the added costs of my larger engine, disposal, tax, etc. I still paid less than $28! They also gave me the heads up on a few other items I'll be following up on with them (brakes, battery, etc.). Already made the next appointment for a little later in the afternoon so I can enjoy Happy Hour at Otro to pass the time. Thanks Craig! See ya in a couple weeks. read more

I have four daughters, all in their 20's. Second oldest calls me and says she took her car to Sun Devil when she'd heard grinding when she brakes. Sun Devil wants $800+ to repair and she want to know if i think that's reasonable before she ok's the work. I called Sun Devil and had a nice, but a little dramatic, conversation with them. They invited me to come down and review the proposed work and look at the vehicle. So I did. We went over the estimate, and it included new calipers, rotors, pads and brake bleed/flush for one axle. We went out to the shop floor to look at the car. They said the brakes were so worn there was metal to metal contact between the pads and rotor and the caliper piston was overextended and "cocked" in the bore. He went on to explain that there was a very real danger the piston would fall out of the caliper bore and she would loose all her brake fluid and brakes. He took a few minutes to 'upsell' us on new shocks too. I said the estimate sounded a little high and we'd like to get another shop to look at it before proceeding, Sun Devil recommended having it towed because it was unsafe to drive. I asked that they put the tires back on and take it down off the lift for us so we could take the car and they were happy to oblige. I drove the car home. I'm not a mechanic, but this all sounded a little fishy to me. As an engineer, i couldn't imagine how a manufacturer could design a safety-critical brake system where the piston could cock in the caliper and leak the brake fluid out in a catastrophic failure. I took it home and took it apart to see just what the problem was. One pad had worn and had begun to have metal to metal contact with the rotor. Not unusual. Nothing wrong with the calipers at all. About an hours work and about $100 in parts (good parts from a store that supplies professional mechanics) she was driving again. Safely. The estimate Sun Devil gave my daughter was baloney and way beyond what was really needed. The over-hyped the problem and tried to use fear to compel her to get the work done there. My recommendation is that you look elsewhere for an honest mechanic. read more

Stunningly incompetent. I had no agenda going in. I just wanted the $17.95 oil change and tire rotation. After I got home, the next day I noticed a pool under my car. When I examined it closer, it was oil. I realized that they hadn't tightened the oil drain plug properly after changing the oil.. They literally couldn't do an oil change properly. I had to tighten the plug myself. While I was at the shop, they also said I needed new windshield wipers ($20). I declined and looked them over when I got home. There was nothing wrong with the wipers... They work fine. They said it would be a 2-hour wait to change the oil, but I expected that. I took my tablet to connect to the Wi-Fi. I was able to connect to their Wi-Fi, but the Internet didn't work at all. Another guy waiting at the shop confirmed that he had the same problem. And so I had to walk around and read magazines while waiting instead. read more

I have been taking my car to the Bethany Home Rd. and 7th Street location for many years. I always worked with George the Manager who is now no longer there unfortunately. George was always great, helpful, friendly and seemed to be very honest in what repairs needed to be done. I took my car there last week for an oil and filter change. I dropped off my car with Mike who was not friendly at all, seemed pre-occupied with whatever other work he was doing and I felt like he truly wasn't listening to me when I talked to him about what I needed done. When I picked up my car, I spoke to Scott who was at least a bit nicer and he went through and explained what their suggestions were for future car repairs and the pricing but I still didn't get a great feeling from him that I would be taken care. I had my breaks done there sometime back so it will be time to get them replaced soon and since they are on a lifetime warranty, all I would need to pay for is the labor which he said would be $60. Since he quoted me a price last week, I naturally thought that information would be saved in the computer system for when I was ready to get it worked on. Today, I called to confirm the price and make an appointment to take my car in. Mike answered and at first quoted me $139.99. I then said that Scott had quoted me a different amount. Mike then quoted me $70.00. I again said that that was not the amount Scott had quoted me. At that time, he asked what Scott had quoted me and I told him $60.00. He said if Scott quoted me that then they'd honor it. What I don't understand is, why wasn't Scott's original quote already in the system in my file? Why am I being given another 2 higher quotes? If I'm a "valued customer" why am I not given the correct and lower quote right away? And furthermore, how am I supposed to trust what they are telling me is correct on what needs to be done? I hate playing this game and shouldn't have to for a place that I've been going to for years. It's quite frustrating. read more

Was recommended by a friend. Coolant was leaking out of my car. They diagnosed and gave me a reasonable quote within 15 minutes. Had a new water pump installed in less than 2 hours. Also had a/c unit checked after botched job at chain, the counter guy (I think his name was Austin...sorry if I messed up the name) was honest with me, said I got screwed and told me need a new compressor which would be pricey. If i want to fix my a/c or anything else on my car I know where to go. Honest peeps. Got a customer for life. read more

I was searching to have a brake job done on my Toyota Venza and I must say these guys are great! I could not have been more impressed with the service and care provided by this location. From my first fact finding phone conversation with Jakob, to the brake inspection/explanation/estimate with store manager Craig, to my actual repair visit with Ronnie, I was treated with great courtesy. The office and waiting area were clean and comfortable, the shop appeared well organized and well staffed. Even the bathroom was clean! The store manager, Craig, was easy to talk to and made the whole experience pleasant. Jacob always seems to bend over backward to help me out and Gus even gave me a ride home when I had to leave my car overnight. The absolute worst! I don't know if the mechanics are incompetent or just lazy but the quality of work from this shop is horrible they just want to get you out of there so they can charge you and go home! I'd leave 0 stars if I could. I needed an oil change but the place I usually go to didn't have an opening so I took it here instead. It was also heating up and I mentioned this to them. They said the problem was the radiator $500 later we drive the car home and it is getting warm. I called them and told them the car was getting hot and they said bring it in. I took it in and they said it was an just an air bubble and they "fixed it". We got the vehicle back and about 5-10 miles later it is getting hot again and now has water in the oil. Both things that were worked on were ruined don't bring your car here you will need to buy a new vehicle if you do.This isn't the first problem I've had either. I had another vehicle with a coolant leak, I told them exactly where it was and they called me later to say I had no leak which was wrong, I still had a leak!! read more
