It is interesting reading the reviews, all out of town reviews are good but locals are bad, the reviews on their website are all from 2020, nothing recent. Shows me what I tell you is true. This is by far the WORST place to take your car, and I assure you my experience is not a one off so if you take your car here you take the risk of the same... First and foremost, I got my car interior eaten by a rodent and they said that is "an act of god" not their fault it could happen anywhere. They are and I quote the owner "we are not liable" yes, they do not care from the top to the bottom we don't care what happens to your car while we have it and are "trying to fix it" Check the pictures for the facts! Horrible customer experience/service, no care or accountability for your car, a vehicle I am sure you really like and want the best for it, THEY DON"T CARE! Not to mention, less than two week later from them having my car allegedly fixing it and allowing a pest from their garage to eat some of my backseat my check engine light comes back on with the exact same problem I had when I brought it in. So now they did not fix my car, and they had a pest problem eat some of my back seat and you know what they said, not our fault, bring it back in if you want to pay more money. If this is the experience you want bring your car here, if not take it somewhere else and save yourself some damage and money by getting it fixed right the first time somewhere else in a place that might care about customers. I was visiting my son in Phoenix recently. His car's A/C was in and out and needed attention. I thought it was the compressor after seeing oil sprayed everywhere under the hood. Took it to Jon and the guys at Import, not knowing anything about who to trust for car repairs in Phoenix. We read some reviews and took a chance. We dropped it the am and hoped for the best regarding our little reliable Hyundai Tucson. Heard back from them that it only needed to be charged up with R134a and that the compressor was ok for now. What we thought was going to thousands to fix, turned out to be a couple hundred. Incredible same day service, honest, and trustworthy. I am so pleased to recommend this car repair shop. I had a dead battery and walked a mile in the Arizona 117 degree heat . They sat me down gave me a cold glass of water . After cooling down they gave me a ride back to my car and gave me a jump start and I was on my way . I have not been treated this well in a long time and all of that no charge to me . I brought my 2014 Range Rover sport in to get repairs on electrical. I paid over $12k with them and they didn't not fix the problem and told me to send it to Range Rover! They are a horrible. Saying they can fix the problem charge me$12k! Now I'm spending $8k at the dealership! Everyone please listen to me stay far far away from them. They will steal your money and say they can fix the problem when they can't and tell you to send it to the dealership. John and matt the owner are horrible people. read more

In less than two, to have the exact same problem happen again. I refuse to take my car back there ever again. On a hot 108 degrees day in August 2024, I was dropping off someone on 17th Street and Indian School Rd just west of the 51. Turned off the 51 my warning light indicated a problem with front right tire. The tire was shredded. As fate would have it, pulled into " Import Car Specialists" 1640 E Indian School Rd Phoenix. Went inside explained what happened the owner said that John, Service Advisor would be able to help. You learn a lot about a business when you have time to sit and observe. I was so impressed with the way John Renolds greeted current customers and potential new customers on the phone and in person. John took a call from a current customer that wanted to get the mechanics opinion on a used vehicle. The mechanic pointed out pros and cons of his current vehicle vs the one he was looking at. GREAT service and quick turn around time! I lucked out finding this place and highly recommend. I was driving through Phoenix when my brake lights came on. I drove in first thing in the morning and was immediately helped, offered a rental car (at no extra charge) and was offered a turn around time of 2-3 hours. After leaving, I received a quick follow up call letting me know about an estimate, much cheaper than what I would have received at my local place. My vehicle was rest in half of the time estimated and it turned out the cause was a faulty sensor. Went for an oil/filter change and was told it would be about 45 minutes. 2 and a half hours later I was told it took more time because the tech broke his oil filter wrench and had to run and get a new one....(smfh) The coupon took the price down to $5 less then the dealer...normally it would have been over $20 more than the dealer. Got quoted $1945 to repair a coolant leak . Not complaining about that . I am complaining that I was an hour and a half away from home and any family when I got the "turn off engine light" on my dash stating my coolant was low ... its summer in Arizona with my 1 and a half year old daughter in the car with me . This shop is a horrible place of business. Save the headache. Not to mention they state on the website about sales with different amounts you spend with the repairs . That's false also . I payed almost 2 grand to get my coolant topped off and engine bay powered washed . Worst experience ever. read more

This company called Import car specialist had my car for 2 weeks I paid $500 and it was due to my engine light was on. It was an electrical problem and the only thing they did was to manually turn it off not by fixingit!! They passed on getting an auto part which could have fixed the problem but they didn't want to add it to their inventory in case it didn't work but it's an import part ,they just didn't go the extra mile ,they took my money and just expected me to walk out the door all smiles. The customer service rep smirked and told me to leave which I promptly did I'll never go back. This engine light will come back on, since they didn't fix it, it won't pass emissions ,what a disgrace $500 and 2 weeks later. read more

I acquired a flat tire on the intrastate. I made it to the corner of Indian School Road and 17th street. I had my sister in the car and she notices the auto repair store across the street. She went across the street to the repair shop to see if they sold tires. The man she meets tells her to pull the car up to the flag, she complies and the gentleman she talks with was Matt A. He offered to fix the tire for free so my sister and I can make it back home. There is not much kindness in the world, but you can find some at Import Car Specialists. read more

So I just moved to the neighborhood from another state and I needed a decent shop/mechanic for my Mercedes. A friend referred me to Import Car Specialists. I gave them a jingle and spoke with Jimmy and he said they had an opening that day which was convenient especially since they are only a mile away from my house. Jimmy gave me an estimate and fixed the car issue within 30 minutes. That was probably the most efficient + positive mechanic experience I have ever experienced. I have been going to import car specialist for over 20 years, and i always get top notch service, no matter what the problem my car has. they have always been able to fix it . from oil changes to replacing brakes to replaceing a wheel axel.
