I'm seeing all the bad reviews talking about Gab. Gab and his family haven't worked there for over 5 years. I found that out after years of trusting Gab. I realized things weren't right at all , no letting me know what was wrong and cost and some things Gab would see in future but not now. The cost with this visit was costly and I asked when Karen ( Gabs wife) would be back I found it is wasn't "gabs" anymore. I left and found a wonderful new mechanic. These guys are the best! I worked with Mark and they got me in same day without an appointment and even though they were slammed they still got my car diagnosed. It ended up being a bad battery and they contacted O'Reilly on my behalf and got my warranty handled. They installed my battery and then didn't even charge me not even for labor. DO NOT RECOMMEND! I have been taking my vehicles here for many years but the new ownership is not good. I paid $1,500 for breaks and when my husband asked why so much? The manager said "things cost a lot." The brakes continued to be spongy and steering wheel shakes. I asked about it a few months later when they were doing an oil change and they said "you need new brake pads." I said they are fairly new. Fast forward a few months I had the back brakes replaced. They said they only did a new rotor on one side and new Pads on the other. Never going back to Gab's. read more

**I would NEVER recommend Gabs Auto Repair.** I took my vehicle to this shop to have the serpentine belt replaced and to address an issue with the AC not consistently blowing cold air. Unfortunately, the experience was nothing short of frustrating. After picking up the car, I quickly discovered that the serpentine belt had not been installed correctly, and the AC problem remained unresolved. Despite returning the vehicle **several** times, the issue persisted. Eventually, they determined that the pressure release valve in the AC system was malfunctioning. However, upon picking up the car again, I noticed that the exterior driver-side front door handle sensor was missing. To make matters worse, just three days later, the AC was still not working. I called the shop three times to discuss the next steps and finally got through to the manager, Mark. Instead of being helpful, he was extremely disrespectful. He spoke to me in a condescending tone, saying, "This is how this will work; you will...." He then continued to yell at me and eventually hung up the phone. This level of unprofessionalism and lack of care for customers is unacceptable. Based on my experience, I would never recommend Gabs Auto Repair. read more

I needed an oil change but didn't want to pay the outrageous cost with other auto shops. I'm so glad I found Gab's on Yelp. I called the same day and got lucky that they had a canceled slot. As many reviews stated, the staff is so honest and truly care about you. I loved they even have a greeter dog. She is so sweet. As for the oil change, they used Valvoline oil not cheap oils and don't overcharge you with the so-called "shop supplies" like other auto shops. Another great auto repair shop option! read more

Mark was extremely rude. I brought my car in to get the o2 sensors replaced and he quoted me 20% higher than some other mechanics. Beyond the estimate the lack of due diligence in the diagnosis and the attitude is the reason for the bad review. He quoted me for the sensors and told me two were burnt and two were covered in oil. I then called back and asked him to check the underlying issue causing the oil leak. Something that imo should have been done as part of the diagnoses. It was a rushed, half assed diagnosis originally and took me pushing back for him to actually do it right and check cause and not the symptom. When I come in and expressed this. He got really rude. Saying "he's the boss" and "we're wasting his time" because we got other quotes. I literally spent like 500 dollars here two weeks ago. My parents both take their cars here and just because I didn't want to commit to an over priced estimate, I'm "wasting his time". At the end he said "well I'm the boss so you can get out". Really proud of being a terrible boss and setting a bad example. That being said Justin is great. He's always friendly and speaks to you with respect. Unfortunately the "boss" can't keep his cool. That being said giving two stars instead of one because Justin is cool and my experience with him has only been good. read more

While the issue was resolved after 3 trips of bringing the car back-in, the last straw was today. If I had spoken to a customer the way that Mark, the manager, did to us, I'd be fired on the spot. Gab's used to be such a trustworthy, friendly business, and we've used their services for years, but since new ownership took over, it's most definitely changed. While it may not make a difference to Mark, Gab's just lost 3 long time customers as well as many referrals being given out. I'm beyond angry for the way we (especially my mom) were treated. I'll start by saying my initial experience with Gab's was positive. However, since then things have really gone down hill. Starting with being charged $1300 for a variety of repairs that didn't fix the problem for very long. Then around Christmas of 2022 they wouldn't honor a gift card and now they are planning to charge me again because the gas cap light is on even though this is what they were supposed to fix. And then today I dropped my car off at 8 and was told it would be an hour and I dont hear back for 4 hours Best of luck to them but not going to be a customer. read more

Called Gab's when we were driving back to Phoenix from Flagstaff with check engine light and other dashboard lights coming on. Gab's said to bring the car in that afternoon and they would have a look at it if possible that same day. They were able to diagnose and do major repairs in two days, which included new timing chain, water pump, coil, spark plugs, air filter, and various other neglected maintenance items. Our 2004 Sienna minivan totally purrs now. Runs so much better! Repairs were done promptly, professionally, and at a reasonable price. I definitely recommend Gab's. read more

Going to Gab's is by far the worst customer experience I've ever had, I'm treated so poorly both in person and over the phone. It is clear to me that they don't care about their customers or fixing the issue. TL;DR: no point in getting any warranty on their work because they will just blame someone else and berate you when you try to get your car fixed. Took my car in after another shop said there was an issue with the computer which Gab's had previously installed and I was told was under warranty. Called and was offered zero help to get my car to Gab's shop, they did not care and told me to figure out a tow. After getting the car towed they said the issue was not with the computer and was with a pump which they replaced. Next day check engine light comes on and I take it back. I was told that the error code was not their problem and to take it to a different shop and that it had not been there when they looked at the car despite the error code being picked up by the previous shop. They would not even look at my car just told me it wasn't their issue. Not to mention that every time I call in they say that every other shop is "completely incompetent" and will not explain issues to me. I had to ask 5 times what the issue with the fuel pump was before they said the gasket went bad, the first 4 the tech just said the fuel pump pumps the fuel into the car. They love to treat me like an idiot and I regret ever spending a dime with them. read more

Brought in my car for an air conditioning problem. Main vents were not blowing air at all. Gab's figured out the issue. The computer in the vehicle needed a reset. They performed the reset and did not charge me for it. Also got my oil change done and my car is running great and I also get to enjoy my air conditioning again!!! have been referring my clients to Gabs for several years. I am a auto teacher at a nearby HS. I won't be sending anyone to them any longer. I personally had work done and they swore that they do great work. I had no time to do these repairs in my own or I would have. Something simple as an oil pan gasket material replaced and they didn't tighten the bolts on the pan. I did not have a leak before I went there this service was to prevent any future issues, but now because of a rushed technician I now have a leak. I have tried to make an appointment with them and they argue with me as to whether I did or not and won't fit me in for this is a simple fix maybe 5 mins that they should have spent when repairs were done. Mark is not a service oriented person he argues even after I paid $2000 for labor where I brought my own parts. If you use these guys remember they won't admit mistakes and they are very slow to fix the ones they created. Gabs will mis out on thousands of dollars coming from my referrals. read more

I brought in my Nissan Versa to have the engine mounts replaced. They did a great job reviewing what parts were needed. They made a strong effort to get the work done quickly since it was difficult for me to be without my vehicle. They were able to turn it around in a couple days and called me as soon as it was finished. The price was reasonable and the friendly staff were empathetic throughout the whole thing. I appreciated that they called me a day or two later to check in and make sure everything was running well. Reached out to 4 service shops with high ratings asking for basic info and a general estimate. Gab's was the only place that provided a prompt and detailed response to my questions vs. a copy and paste response. They were accommodating when I would be able to drop off and were even open a few minutes early- thank you for not making the early bird wait! I dropped off first thing and they had it done by lunch. They called me promptly and when I came for pickup the service items were clearly explained in detail and even had the labor hours noted. They provided me proactive opinion regardung how much time I had left on my brake pads and let me know about when I should have them checked again for possible replacement. This was helpful so I wasn't surprised going forward. Several months back I had another shop tell me I needed immediate replacement which I thought was inaccurate. I live in north Phoenix and even if I move 2 hours away they will be my 'go to' from now on. It is because they give genuine honest inspections, GREAT people, have a master mechanic and make sure you feel comfortable with what is happening to your vehicle. I made the mistake of having it towed to a dealership who sat on my car for 3 days until informing me of the obvious telling me my car wont start and they have no idea where to begin to get it to run again. So I then called Gab's auto and they went above and beyond to help me not only get my car from across town to their shop, but they had my vehicle running and driveable in less than the amount of time it took the dealership to look at my car and tell me they can't do anything for me. Took our vehicle in on Sept 17, 2021 and received it back Dec 29th , 2021. This shop is very difficult to get updates from. If I did not check in and ask, then I did not hear from them. When I did hear from them the answers were vauge. When the car was finally completed the cost I was told was $1,000 more than what I was originally quoted. If you do decide to use them please obtain a quote in writing. The guy on the phone makes it sound like he has your best interest in mind, but when it is all said and done he did not. After getting an appointment for the next day I stopped at The Mechanic to have my car checked as a message light came on indicating an inspection of engine and tires were also needed immediately along with an oil and filter change. I hoped this was just a routine message based on just hitting 60k on the mimeter. Everyone was so nice and welcoming at the front counter. His service tech went out and checked things out did a quick reset and I was on my way quickly and with no charge. I'll be back for sure when I need an actual service performed. I had a disastrous week with my car's electrical system dealing with autozone and pepboys, and took it to Gab's today. They took care of it no problem (the other places are frankly incompetent), and charged me next to nothing, I couldn't believe it. My only negative is that they aren't open on weekends (but I totally respect the family values aspect) as that is what got me in trouble with having to use pepboys in the first place (blown alternator on a Saturday). I noticed all the great reviews on this company and I'm sure they do great work. But I went in to get a quote on having my AC system repaired on my Saturn Vue. They quoted me a price twice as much as every other shop in town; claiming that it was significantly higher in price because my car is "a Saturn". Mind you every other shop in town quoted me $1000 to completely replace the AC system in my car. This company quoted me over $2000 to do the exact same work with the same warranty. But the thing is that my Saturn uses all Chevrolet parts commonly purchased at any parts store or dealer. read more
