The lowest tip option was 18% or more. I am happy to tip, but it just rubs me the wrong way when they set up the mobile device with 18% as a minimum tip and you have to go through a custom tip option to do anything else. The ebi nigiri had a small portion of rice underneath it that crumbled when picked up. It took five minutes to get a slice of lemon to sprinkle on the food. It took fifteen minutes to pay after I was done. And I really didn't need to hear staff issues. I first noticed this place a couple of years ago. I came in with my wife first, then later I brought my niece in because the sushi is so fresh and amazing that I wanted to spoil her to everything else. I was in today to get the fried oysters and ramen. The ramen must be a really popular item as they were fresh out. No worries though, I ordered more Nigiri. They have so many things here that I'm coming back next Tuesday to try a variety of other things. Fresh, amazing, delicious. I am so excited Maple Valley has a sushi restaurant! Back in the day, the choices were very limited in Maple Valley. Sumo Sushi does sushi extremely well. The sushi is always fresh, aesthetically pleasing, and the pieces are the correct size. I also appreciate that there are enough vegetarian options to include all of my family members. The sushi chefs are definitely the best part of this business. Unfortunately I've had some bizarre service issues since dining here. Once it took an uncomfortably long time for me to pay my check, and another time one of our entrees never showed up. If you order an entree that must be prepared in the kitchen instead of at the sushi bar, it seems like it takes much longer than you would imagine. That being said, I really enjoy the chalk art decor, and the general vibe of the restaurant. Best of all, the location is so convenient! I got two rolls: Mega Crunch Sumo Special and a veggie roll. The veggie roll had a slimmy texture, like the veggies had gone bad. The mega crunch sumo was definitely crispy. Everything came to about $100.00 Everything tasted just fine but the tuna on one of the rainbow roll and the entire maple valley roll tasted bloody and had a weird taste to it.
