Decided to try Golden Phoenix while I was driving through the area. I've been looking for a place that cam make kung pao chicken how I prefer it, with lots of veggies and I've found my new favorite place. There were plenty of bell peppers and veggies. Also it had that hallmark delicious Chinese food taste (probably msg) that I love! The egg drop soup I got was delicious as well. It was almost eerily quiet while i was here. Some music would probably help. I was the only person eating here the whole time I was in, but a few pick up orders did go out. I'm def coming back here if I'm in the area though because the food was delicious. Also I tested their water (which tasted good) and it rang 17 ppm (the reader goes 1-600, 600, 1 being pristine) which is pretty clean. :) read more

Food was fantastic. Had it first through DoorDash delivery and then went to the restaurant the second time to have lunch. The place was empty and the waitress was not very attentive. We decided we liked the food, the prices and the amount given on each plate, but we would just do delivery from now on. Please make the place warmer and kinder, it looks barren and cold. read more

Meh.... Ordered: Large Hot & Sour Soup Never seen such sparse or thin Hot & Sour Soup. Like it was a new batch and they didn't stir before portioning??? I put my side of rice and some cut up pieces of my entree in it to try to rescue it. Flavor wasn't awful but not the best I've had. Needed more than just broth. 6.5/10 Crispy Sesame Chicken Ummm, no. It was heavily doused with soy sauce; so much that you would have thought it was Soy Sauce Chicken. Way too salty. Sesame chicken isn't IMO supposed to taste like soy sauce. Some pieces were so over cooked that I couldn't cut them with a real stainless knife. Best compliment? It was a good size portion . 3/10 Side of white rice A little dry but not bad. 7/10 When I ordered, it was around 6:10 pm on a Saturday night and only 1 table there who was cashing out as I was ordering. The cashier was "distracted"?? Cause he tried to short change me. Bill was $34.55 and I gave him $40.55 He tried to give me $5.45 in change. I corrected him that the change should be $6 since I gave home the exact change and $40. He had to re-ring the order then said "oh, your right" and gave me my $6 in change. Funny that they ask customers to please pay in cash to avoid credit card fees then can't correctly count change back. The guy had to be in his late 30's so not a new kid. Seemed clean enough, no tables piled up with crap . Good lighting and beautiful pictures. Overall, if you've not had amazing Chinese food before, you'll be happy. I doubt I'll be back. Too many other places within a 5 mile radius to spend $35 on 1 entree, soup (although large) and a side of rice then to settle for this. read more

I ordered their General Tso's chicken , it was way over fried and the meat was too chewy and overcooked, the sauce was incredibly salty . I'm paying the price with my stomach being upset the next day.it was my first time and my last time going there. Maybe there are other dishes that are cooked better. I opted for a #7 Chicken Chow Mein, pork fried rice, sweet n sour chicken, and won ton soup. I walked in to dine, and the older woman behind the counter was serving a guy with his take-out. The sign says "Please wait to be seated." I stood there, and while she was still helping the man standing there, she looked over at me and asked if I was there for takeout or delivery, and I said no to each question. She then asked me, "Then what are you here for?" I thought this was very rude because I was there to dine-in and was waiting to be seated. Does she not realize there's a dine-in option? This is a cute little restaurant tucked away in a strip mall in Covington. Ideal for lunch breaks and the lunch specials. The food was ok...nothing spectacular. I had the lunch special with Mongolian beef. It was mostly all onion and a little amount of beef but honestly, to be expected. It came with a spring roll, your choice of rice and soup so it was a pretty food value. The server didn't seem too thrilled to be there but I guess everyone has bad days, right? Not sure I would go back for a second visit unless I was in a pinch. read more

We used to eat here a fair amount, back when the kids were young, but hadn't been back for several years. A family member suggested Golden Phoenix for a birthday celebration, and it was a wonderful choice! The restaurant graciously accommodated our group of ten. The staff was patient with us -- the age range in the group was literally one year old to 90+ -- and members of our party arrived at different times. We have tried many Chinese Food restaurants after moving from California to Washington. This has been the best. Their crab Rangoon's have a little bit of garlic, which makes them amazing. Their beef chow fun is amazing. And many other things, too many to list. A note, around Christmas and New Year's. You can expect to wait 4 to 6 hours for you to go order, lol. But it is worth it. It was delicious until i had a spoonful of salt chunks which instantly alerted my taste buds of the saltiness. Never coming back. Been a regular customer since they opened years ago. The service has been increasingly worse and worse. No merry Christmas here at this place. They advertise their lunch combinations until 3 PM, which was slightly cheaper than the dinner. We called to place an order at 1 PM. 2 hours left on lunch menu. The lady working there said they weren't taking lunch orders because they were too busy and would only take orders from dinner menu. Not sure how that makes any sense whatsoever... anyhow, upon getting there, the place was empty. I was the only one picking up an order and the dining room was not even open. Then I asked for a side of sweet and sour. She charged me an additional cost for a side of sour sauce??? That's like McDonald's charging extra for a side of ketchup. Located near Safeway and Dollar Tree with a large parking lot available.It's very clean and spacious, one elderly lady with a curt behavior seated us for a late lunch. As a vegetarian I was pleased with the variety of Tofu options on the menu. We ordered the Family style tofu, vegetable chow mein and vegetable fried rice with no egg. So we went here and I think this is actually my second time going here. I tried the beef fun and that wasn't my jam but I definitely loved the wide noodles aspect of it I just wish I could've had it with chicken or veggies I requested Jenna Shawl's orange chicken two sides of white rice and broccoli and that was so filling for two people it was literally the perfect amount and I really loved the same broccoli they didn't overdo it which was super nice to have. I'll be honest I think I prefer the orange chicken but we mix them up so I can't really tell you which one taste better, haha. These two did not have any space which I did not want any spice. We also got the potstickers steamed and fried I have to say I really did like them steamed over the fried but again that's just not my jam I really love the sauce that came with it so if I could just get that to put over everything and my rice that would be bomb. You do get six per order! Eggrolls are standard eggrolls nothing if you're here nice little appetizer to add here if that's something you want Overall when I called they were super nice they do prefer cash but our order was quite expensive so I'm not sure how you could pay in cash unless you want an ATM but that's me being the young person that I am. Again food was so over cooked couldnt chew it. Almost $90 for two meals. Threw most of it out. General T was so dry as well as teriyaki stick. Teriyaki stick the stick wouldnt even pull out. I still can't decide what to rate this place , I didn't think there are food Chinese places in this area and had to try this. The mangolian chicken 5* was nothing but an onion mess, I am pretty sure I can cook 2 more meals with the onions in that dish. The chicken however was good. Kung pao chicken on the other hand was a thick celery soup but surprisingly it tasted good. I cannot accept the fact it's called kung pao chicken. The fried rices were all the same with different meat and was ok, same with the noodles . All of them had the same exact taste but the quantity was a lot. We decided to take my mom out for lunch today and this has always been a great location to order out (which we usually do) but today we decided to sit and enjoy our food. The place looked clean, tables were set for the day. This place is not fancy but is well kept. I do like their chandeliers. They weren't that busy so we got seated right away. We knew what we wanted so we ordered when she brought us our waters and delicious hot tea. We had Mongolian beef, Beef and green beans, Sweet and sour chicken, Beef and broccoli and white rice. Everything was delicious like always, we were very satisfied. The lady who was attending everyone was very sweet. She was busy doing everything except for cooking. The food didn't take long at all, it was well cooked and served at a good temperature. We are some hardcore water and hot tea drinkers, she kept us refreshed without having to ask.
