Orange chicken combo
Bryan C.

Best sweet and sour chicken I've ever had. We waited to be acknowledged for a while, and didn't have menus for the first 10 minutes... but we looked online to see what we wanted to order. But the prices were different and the physical menu was much more thorough. The room was a bit simple... but the food was really good. Really good almond chicken, pork fried rice, and the soups they bring out before hand were both good

My first time trying this restaurant, very nice and clean. The service was great and they were accommodating to my asking for extra condiments. I ordered the House Special fried rice which was delicious.

My favorite Chinese American takeout in this area. Been going here for years and I know exactly what I'm expecting when I order food from here. The chicken chow mein is basically chicken lo mein that I've been used to from all across America using thicker soba noodles. Some restaurants use the thin noodles which I hate. It's just weird that this area all calls it chow mein and you only see lo mein farther from the Seattle region, but I digress. The proportions are really generous and can actually be stretched a few meals over a couple days. I've ordered numerous favorites that can be found from other Chinese American takeout all across America such as General Tso's chicken, sweet and sour chicken nuggets, pepper beef, wonton soup, and pork fried rice. And you get complimentary rice too which some restaurants are criminally charging extra for. Sometimes I just want Chinese fast food takeout that is 100x better than that Panda Express garbage down the road and nothing as bougie as the authentic cuisine from the ID or Bellevue on nights when I don't want to cook and this place hits the spot. Or as the kids say it's fire and the food slaps.

My go to Chinese restaurant in Covington. Consistently good food and great service for take out. Their Mu Shu Pork is some of my favorite.

Is the Walnut prawn salad same as the honey Walnut prawn?

No. Ones a salad and one is a main dish. Which is delicious.

The veggies are fresh and the sauces really do help the flavor. Take advice from some of the sauce combo recipes they have on the boards. You fill up your bowl, hand it to the very nice assistant, they add your meat of choice and cook it on the flat iron. It becomes ready to pick up in about 10min. They ask you if you want a portion of rice too (free). They have great finishing sauces as well. Even the biggest eaters in my family can't finish their first plate so buying All You Can Eat isn't the best choice in my opinion. I will never get AYCE again. (Probably a $5 price difference.) If you buy the large instead of AYCE you can at least take your leftovers home. You cannot take ANY leftovers home if you buy AYCE. I think you get a free drink with a large order too. To not waste food...and if I was the owner/manager I'd make a rule that if you bought AYCE but still only got one bowl/plate of food then you can take your leftovers home. Or maybe charge $5 for a to-go box but you can only buy one additional to-go box with every AYCE purchase. Seeing all the food go to waste made me sad.

If you are a local to the area then you know San Wok Express really was the best chinese in town…read more With friendly owners, the happy and giddy welcome and goodbyes as you come and go. That is no more. Sadly after going back recently I realized these are new owners and no longer the San Wok we are used to. Food was decent, but I could tell the difference especially with the orange chicken which was always a hit. Food overall is good for chinese, but doesn't wow me like before. New improvements inside, the restaurant now has dine in, and new decor, but prices have an increased, and ultimately just feels like another chinese restaurant in the area.

I started coming here about 15 years ago. At the time it was called Rice Garden, if I recall. The…read morefood was tasty and the guy that ran the place, we knew from the Golden Phoenix restaurants. I think he was either a nephew or son in law. He sold the place to the previous owner who rebranded as Sans Wok Express. When the place opened the flavor, price and portion were all unbelievable and unbeatable. For years this was the case, then the price would go up about 10% at least twice a year, then the portions got smaller and post covid, the flavor also suffered like they were cutting corners. They would skimp on sauces and dishes that were generous with protein because heavy with vegetables, so instead of Mongolian Beef, it was Mongolian Onion. Really nice people, but after my last visit, I said I most likely wouldn't be back because it just wasn't worth the money. Ironically, I gave them another chance today and was surprised. When I pulled into the lot I knew something was different as I saw someone sitting inside and the place had been takeout only since Covid. The décor was also modern and warm and when I didn't see the original chef or server, I assumed there was a new owner. The menu was exactly the same, but it was a new owner and she told me she had owned the place since New Years Day. So, it's obviously been more than a year since I decided not to come back. I had the Mongolian Beef and it was pretty good. I'm sure you would love it, but I actually like mine sugar free. That said, it wasn't as sweet as most places, so respect to the chef. The lunch combo was entree, rice and soup. No more spring roll. The hot and sour was ok, but it wasn't thickened and lacked chicken stock. The new owner is really nice and I'm hoping the business comes back. This place used to always be nearly full. I think after 4-5 years of take out only, people stopped coming here. Take out is great, but I prefer dine in. It hotter, fresher and I don't have any trash. Again, when you keep the same name as the previous business, there is no flag to the community that you changed the recipes and possibly have a better menu. Either way, come back, I think you'll be pleased.
