We originally arrived at Café Luna (next door) to have brunch. However after a 15 minute taxi ride in heavy traffic and the fact that we were told it would be 45 minutes to a 1 hour wait at Café Luna we changed our mind. Also hungry teenager in tow, we decided to shift to another destination thus we landed at this place. Servers speak Italian. Which is a bit of a challenge especially with current COVID masking. But we managed to get orders in and food on the table. I started with a cappuccino. Beautiful aesthetically & Tastes pretty good. my waffles bananas foster also looked beautiful but bananas were unripe and a bit on hard side. I tasted my husband's sausage - it was decent. Service was attentive and friendly. Great corner street location with clever decor (real life Italian scooter positioned high above tables). Enormous wall of windows that open out to patio seating. Let's start with the good: Food 3.5/5 - Burrata 4/5 - the pesto sauce was incredibly fresh, as were the tomatoes and burrata - Cioppino 3/5 - jonah crab toast was cold, the cioppino was lukewarm likely due to the service issues which I will go in to in a sec. While it did have a wide variety of seafood that was fresh, for a $40 plate I couldn't get past the lukewarm dish - Drink selection 4/5 - good selection of craft beer, wine and cocktails Where do I start with the service? We were seated outside on a packed patio with one server. After a half hours wait, drinks were brought out, then we saw a different person bring our apps walk it over to a table that was just seated and offer it to them. Fast forward 10 minutes the manager brings it out and offers it to a different table. Different servers would walk out with dishes and check with every table whether it was their order before being able to figure out whose order it was. I have honestly never seen this done on a consistent basis at any other restaurant. Needless to say the app was brought out with the lukewarm dinner. I don't think this was the servers fault because by the end there were 6 different people who were attending to us. This a nice spot but the food just isn't up to par with it's surrounding restaurants. We came here for brunch with our family and sat across from the giant panoramic windows that opened up. That is a nice feature at this restaurant that is fun to experience. We ordered the following: 1.) French Toast (3 stars) -A little too sweet and presented as a giant loaf...needs to be cut properly. Looked like a 5 year old put this dish together 2.) Panzanella Salad (5 stars) - Must order 3.) Margherita Pizzette (3 stars) -The pizza was too thick here and the dough was weird. 4.) Sweet Cheeks Pizzette (3 stars) - Too sweet and the egg is unnecessary. 5.) Fresh Fruit (5 stars) - Beautiful fresh array of fruits- very generous amount of fruits too! All in all I would come back here because the service was good and the ambience was lovely. I won't come back here for brunch though. I thought the food was average. I want to break down my review for service, ambiance and food. I would have given 3 stars for food, 3 stars for ambiance and 2 stars for service. So average would be 2-2 1/2. Let's start with ambiance. The restaurant is very open, bright and cozy. One of my biggest pet peeves however are tables so close that a servers back side is practically touching my table (or does touch). And to be clear it's the lower back side. No one wants to have that experience. I've been to other restaurants with close tables who have handled this differently. I would rather have a server reach around me then have their backside graze someones table and be in their face. I've walked by this place a few times and decided to give it a try. Was looking forward to trying their arancini and some brunch. The arancini was just average and disappointing as it came to us lukewarm. I always like trying a restaurants arancini since there can be so many variations. This one was well seasoned but since it came lukewarm the cheese inside was barely melted. I'm sure it would have tasted better if it was hot. I ordered one of the eggs Benedict while my friend ordered the hash. Both dishes were good. The eggs Benedict was well made, perfect egg on top. The garlic kale and ham was a flavorful combination. And overall the price to portion size was on point. The hash was just good, nothing special and a smidge overpriced for what you got. And now the service....sigh....it wasn't horrible but it was bad. I've been in the food industry for over 30yrs. I've done the front and back of the house, serving and cooking and also the business side. I know that good food alone does not equal success. We were greeted with a smile and friendly host. We were seated promptly. One job of a host is to notify a server they have a new table in their section, that clearly did not happen. After being sat we saw many servers walk by our table, menus still prominent and empty water glasses. It was well over 7 minutes when we saw another table seated and I politely asked the host who our server was. He said he knew looked around and then grabbed a pitcher to fill are water glasses and if we would like to order which we did. The host apologized and said they were short staffed. Yet, the other table that was just seated and also one after we ordered had a server greet them and fill their glasses within a few minutes. I may sound petty but I understand a busy restaurant. It doesn't take much effort for a server to glance over and say "hi I'll be right there" just to be acknowledged. When I was a server, my table or not if I saw my fellow coworkers table with empty glasses and menus after a while I'd definitely say something. I am guessing since it was clear to the host our service was not so great up to now they put a rush on our food. Which in the long run did not work in their favor since the arancini came out quickly but again was not hot. The rest of our food did come out in a timely manner and again was good. Servers walking by were now clearing away any empty plates and filling are glasses. I would like to add my friend finished his plate first while I had a few more bites. A server walked by to take his plate and then proceeded to take my side plate with my knife on it. I was taking a bite of food before I could stop him but all I thought was why??? at least ask me. Once I was finished I had some left to box up. Then came another long wait. When we finally got the food to go and the check we waited a few minutes for our server to take it but just left. While good/great/spectacular food is essential for a restaurant the entire dining experience must also have good-decent/common sense service. If the service had even matched the good food we'd prob go back to try their lunch menu but unfortunately we won't be. As always never take my word and try it yourself. read more

I can't compare this restaurant to other brunch places in Boston (since this is the first one I've visited), but overall we enjoyed a decent meal with nothing amazing to speak about. The prices here are also a bit high. The English muffins from the smoked salmon were a little cold, but the dish was very flavorful and they were generous with the smoked salmon. The potatoes on the side were also good but could've been a little bit crispier. The french toast with mascarpone and berry compote was a little dense and had a more eggy flavor than I was used to. The mascarpone and berry compote was very good though. My partner thought the burger was solid. read more

We were actually planning on going to Cafe Luna, but we didn't realize that they closed in the afternoon, so we popped into Sulmona. They have a very cute seating area, which is a great spot for taking a memorable photo. I went at a less busy time, and the service was great. I got the Carbonara and it was the perfect amount of creamy. I liked it, and my overall experience was pretty good. read more

Was in Cambridge and visited Sulmona for lunch. The place has a very nice decor and great ambience. Seemed like the crowd was mainly corporate folks. Ordered lamb skewers, Meatballs and grilled octopus. Lamb skewers were very good, the meat was a bit tough though: Could have been tender. Meatballs were done well, with the right amount of sauce and sausage. The favorite was grilled oysters, nicely flavored and had a bit of paprika sprinkled on them. Bread was tough and chewy. Food and drinks were excellent. The only issue was the service. Though very friendly, multiple tables had orders entered incorrectly so everything ordered came out at the same time. This place has a spectrum ambiance coupled with amazing food and beverages. If you like a lengthy pour for your wine then this is the place for you! I was so delightfully surprised by how much they gave in a glass - so much that it was note worthy! They were serving the regular menu in addition to some specials (ALWAYS ASK). I got the shrimp special that they had that day it was the amazing garlicky, brilliant pasta dish. LOVE! The service is awesome and staff are very attentive. Four stars for food, three stars for service. This place is super cute vibes but even with a reservation there was a short wait to be seated, surprisingly so since it didn't seem that busy. My date and I ordered a wide range of food, my favorite was the Potato Croquettes Panzerotti which is a yummy appetizer! The Lamb Skewers were my dates choice but was AMAZING and definitely worth ordering! Also the portion of the lamb skewers were impressive definitely to share! The whole reason we had come was for the Carbonara, which was incredible, creamy and delicious, I just wish there was something green on it, like fresh parsley because it WOULD have made it my favorite carbonara ever, but in Boston there is a lot of good competition when it comes to pasta. Which is another reason for the 4 stars it's good quality food but nothing special. The service was a little hard to ignore, my water was empty most of the time and our server forgot an entire entree that we had ordered. Definitely paying for the ambiance of the place more then anything else. Still a fan but probably would try somewhere new before coming back. There wasn't anything I tried that made me want to come back to be honest. But still a good experience and a cool place to come try for date night. I dig Sulmona's interior, with the brass and low-voltage beams alluding to some hybrid Italian cafe bistro. The suspended Vespa is icing on the cake. Server was prompt if seemingly unplugged, and evidenced by an incorrectly ordered pizza (although, the Funghi may get et next time - it looked stellar) which when questioned - "Where's the broccoli rabe? - was met with a point to chives. In ultimately recognizing the error, our server had a manager run the correct plate to the table, and the house comped a beer (a Maine Beer Company Peeper) for the troubles. Great Italian place to enjoy great wine and delicious charcuterie and Italian cheese. We had a bottle of Umberto Cesari Moma Rubicone Red wine! Devine! So smooth and soft on the palate! It was perfect to go with some pepato and Gorgonzola cheese, and some of the salami!! The olives and eggplant were delightful too! Arancini were crunchy and fine. One and only one comment: we had to beg for bread .. they bring you all the cheese and charcuterie with small 4 slices of bread (check it in the pic). We kept asking for refill and did that 4 times. Just about everything about this place was amazing at least for brunch on a Saturday at 11 am! Service was amazing and very attentive even for a busy restaurant. We got in and were able to grab seats at the bar immediately. The food tasted amazing and the portions may look small, but don't let that fool you because both dishes were made well with quality ingredients. Very Rich. I ordered the Porchetta Hash and my partner the seasonal Eggs Benedict. Atmosphere was also very nice. The overall feel of the space was intimate but still very fun and active. Definitely a great place for a date or for an Igor out with friends. And depending on where you were seated you might catch a glimpse of the great big pizza oven in back. Some people might say that this place is slightly overpriced for what you get but hear me out..... realistically you are paying for the quality, unique flavor and authenticity of each dish. I really enjoyed this place! We had a reservation on a weekend at dinner time and it wasn't crowded at all. Upon being seated, we quickly ordered some drinks and appetizers. The arancini is very tasty and presentation is pleasing (they have a seasonal one now filled with pumpkin)! The only comment I have is it was not super hot, just warm, so I felt like I had to eat them rather quickly. For the entree, I ordered the funghi pizza. It was perfect!! Plenty of toppings and cheese as well as slices to make it flavorful. The crust was doughy and not too thick. The server was friendly and attentive. One of my friends entree took another 10 minutes after all our other entrees arrived so we did get a little impatient. But to make the experience better, the manager sent a little complimentary dish (not too sure what it was) while she was waiting, and I thought that was pleasing. For dessert, of course we had to get the bag of donuts! The donuts are light, yet still satisfy your sweet tooth. The Nutella on top plus the blueberry sauce on the side compliment each other perfectly!!!! I will be back here very soon for my friends birthday! read more

Great 4 star place. Brick oven has good pizza. But they put a béchamel on it? And the crust was soft despite the fired oven. Sticking with octopus this week, we had the app that came with smashed potato, which was drizzled with some type of spicy deliciousness. Had to go with the porchetta panini which was fantastic. Got the tomato bisque to go with it, but it had too much something in it, maybe sherry? Restaurant is beautiful, nice tiles, high ceilings. Party of three for lunch was $120. I have been here in person a bit and it was once awesome! We ordered delivery last night and the menu was totally off with their descriptions, but on their site and the delivery site. An eggplant/tomato/goat cheese pasta is a tasteless olive and celery thing. With a few stingy pinches of goat cheese. I couldn't believe how bad and tasteless it was. Thankfully, I know how to cook so I resurrected the thing at the home to make it much better. We walked in at 5:15 without a reservation (party if 3) and place was very empty yet hostess was hemming and hawing before saying she would sit us but had to kick us out for a 7:15 reservation, which doesn't make you feel very welcome. Doubt we were planning a two hour dinner but ok. We sit down and wait 10-15 minutes before we meet the waiter who is not friendly at all and seems to be hating life. We order the bistecca (over cooked and sides lacked flavor), a white pizza (which was decent), and the lamb skewers (which were under seasoned). We also tried the mini cannolis which were bland and I rarely leave cannoli on the table but all three of us found them not worth the calories. Overall service was poor, food was blah, and price made sure we would never return for another such experience. Been here several times for dinner so here's a laundry list of thoughts Apps - arrosticini: grilled lamb skewers, so tender. They are $12 and very worth it - arancini - fried rice cheese balls also $12....need I convince your more? Dinner - once I had the langostini special and it was incredibly expensive and not filling - not recommending that - Wild boar ragu is a great option if you're drinking a red wine! Very rich and filling - seafood pasta (on the specials menu that night)... to my great pleasure actually had perfectly cooked seafood; unforgettable and unfortunately a rare occurrence for dining here. Always get my seafood mishandled but I can trust sulmona! Would suggest this place as a nice first date place for cocktails as well. I have been meaning to visit this restaurant for a while now (always ended up at Cafe Luna) and I am so glad I was able to have brunch here finally! The restaurant was quiet, which is not a bad thing. We got seated right away. I had a Bloody Mary, which was great and my company got Nutella ice coffee - it was amazing. We started with hash browns, which were crispy unique squares. A little dry but well seasoned. We ended up splitting the tiramisu French toast and a frittata. The French toast was good but lacking in the tiramisu flavor. The frittata was great. Both were large portions. The ambiance was nice - open and clean.
