It's nothing outstanding but it's a nice place to stop by particularly during the non peak hours because it has a good amount of space and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Tried Sulmona for Dine Out Boston because of the value of their prefix menu. The food was good, our favorites surprised us, we loved the panzanella salad and the panna cotta. Sulmona is exceptionally hospitable! First time I called, I asked for a table of 8 and then I needed to update my reservation a few times as our party grew to 16 during a busy graduation season. The inside of the restaurant is gorgeous but we actually like outdoor dining. Their portable fireplaces in the outdoor area kept us warm and gave everyone a beautiful glow that makes everyone look younger and beautiful. We enjoyed our food! Our end of the table had fungi pizza (tasty, thin crust), arancini balls, and linguine alle vongole (fresh, light, and flavorful). Best of all the menu and kitchen are nut-free except for a few dessert items with precautions to limit cross contact. Thank you for a lovely and memorable evening. I always enjoy coming here after the Cambridge 5k's for a delicious brunch! They have always been able to seat our large parties immediately as they open the restaurant, which I'm super grateful for. They have a great selection of classic breakfast dishes and drinks, and the servers are often prompt with service and ordering. I enjoy their large and filling portion sizes, always having some food to save for later! I surprisingly loved their pizza selection, each made perfectly with a deliciously crispy crust. We were hungry, thirsty, and tired after walking around hot Cambridge in August. We went to the restaurant next door for a late lunch but there was a 20 minutes wait. So we walked here instead, since it was empty, maybe less than 5 tables were occupied. We made a big mistake. It took us a total of more than 1.5-2 hrs from sitting down to leaving. Our food took forever to come out. The waiter finally admitted that the kitchen didn't see our order. So they were made late. By the time we left, the restaurant next door that was so busy had emptied out their lunch crowd. Food wise, it was not great. I ordered the Porchetta Hash. The pork was tough and dry, like meat that was fried once and fried too many times. We contemplated ordering a Fritto Misto for appetizer, loved this dish when we were visiting Rome, but could not stomach $30 worth of Fritto Misto, it's crazy expensive for an appetizer. Friday afternoon was lightly populated. Started with a cappuccino, which came quickly. Cappuccino was nice on a winter day, hot with good foam proportion. The setting is rustic/industrial, with nice leather and wooden seats and furnishings. Edison bulbs hand from the sealing next to a cute red vespa suspended in the air. We ordered a margarita and fig + prosciutto pizette and a cubano with skinny fries. You can see the large open oven from across the room with the flames flickering and herb bundles dangling from the ceiling. Inspected the bathrooms, for which they have multiple single washrooms for additional privacy. Clean, with white tile and motion sensor sink + toilet. Pizza was next level. Dough was cooked perfectly. Flavors of both pizzettes really complemented each other. Hints of garlic, good cheese proportion, not greasy. The cubano was good but could use something to give it more flavor "pop". Bread was toasted perfectly. Fries were amazing, thin cut with appropriate amount of salt, not too crispy not too soft. My girlfriend and a few friends and I made a reservation last week for Sulmona, and it was nice! I wasn't the most impressed with the service for the most part. While my girlfriend and I arrived early and were seated promptly while we waited for our friends, it was a bit chilly and we were right next to the window. We asked for the window to please be closed, to which they weren't able to. They also weren't able to move us despite the multiple open tables around us. While we were a bit cold throughout the night, the food (and the rest of the night) really made up for it. We started with the truffle burrata, which was delicious however the portion could have been a bit bigger for four people. We got an array of dishes including pastas, wild boar ragu, chicken parm, and porchetta. We were all really impressed, mostly so with the wild boar ragu- a great option! Our waiter really made sure the service was improved throughout the night. He verified allergies/restrictions at our table and even brought the chain from my friend's bag outside that had fallen off inside the restaurant. It's a pretty big space--lots of seating! We came in for brunch and there were plenty of tables. Service was fast and friendly. I shared the tiramisu French toast and smoked salmon eggs benedict with a friend. Both were good, although the French toast was maybe on the drier side. My husband got the porchetta hash, which was tasty but a bit rich--he wasn't able to finish it. My siblings split the mascarpone French toast with a ham omelette. I dined there on Monday, May 18th for a business meeting. It was the hottest day so far ( my car said it was 103° ) and they had absolutely no air conditioning on. I was told it wasn't working. I cant imagine what the servers/bartenders felt like seeing that they have them working in LONG sleeve button up shirts AND an apron on. Great spot for a double date in Kendall Square area! The food is great-- I really enjoyed the truffle burrata to start, and I got the chicken parm as my entree which was great as well. I really liked the melted mozzarella on the chicken, it was a great addition! The burrata was great, though I would've preferred more bread to go along with it. My only complaint about this restaurant is that I made a persistent request to shut the window-- it was a chilly night and my party was seated right along the window. The host and waitstaff claimed it couldn't be done because it was "manual", which didn't make much sense, but the meal certainly made up for it. Great food and drinks! read more

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised by what a good lunch I had here! If I could find anything to nitpick, it would just be that the server didn't check in on us as frequently as I would have wanted them to. It took us a while to order and a while to pay the check, because we couldn't find someone to help. First off, Sulmona was decorated for the holidays and it looked so nice indoors. I loved the natural lighting and how open it was. I ordered the spaghetti and a side house salad. The spaghetti portion was small, but the side house salad was huge! I was craving some italian and sadly this place did not meet the standard. Now the part I would come back for are the appetizers. There was a meat and cheese platter and the fritto misti that we really enjoyed (it even included fried sardines that were a hit!). We ordered the truffle burrata which tasted nothing like truffle, it felt like one tsp of truffle oil was drizzled on top, but a let down nonetheless. The portion size to the price was not worth it in my opinion. There was probably a half serving of linguine in my clam linguine, with only 6 clams. The lobster ravioli's lobster portion was also severely overcooked, it barely came off the shell! The bread served with the prosciutto was hard as a rock! We also ordered a bottle of wine, which they first forgot to bring and gave us a complimentary glass (nice of them), and then brought back a bottle of warm wine. We had to ask twice for a glass of ice to try and cool it down. There were several times we had to repeatedly ask the waitress for simple things such as silverware or more water that took longer than we anticipated. The flavors were lackluster, but the worst part was the dish was drowning in excess oil from the pork fat. While fat and oil adds a nice flavor, I had to tip over my skillet to dump out oil that kept on flowing. After the meal, I was left feeling heavy, dirty, and sick. Maybe I got the wrong dish, but their dish left a horrible taste and impression on me. I do want to note that there was nice char and crisp on the pork pieces, but it was tainted by the oil. Sulmona is a great place for a girls night out. I went with a party of four and Kendall Square was a great meet up location. The food was delicious and fresh and the server was helpful making menu suggestions. The drinks were good but no one in the party was too adventurous. We sat at a comfortable booth and the window was open so it was like dining outside which I appreciated on a beautiful evening in Cambridge. It was light and fluffy and the perfect amount so you don't feel overly stuffed, i had to get a side of bacon because sweet had to be balanced out with a lil' bit of salt. My espresso martini w/bailey's was delicious and decorated perfectly. My friend had the montecristo that had french toast breading yes maple syrup on the side for dipping yes that sweet and savory. This was my second trip here within the past two years, and I regret not coming here more often. I remember liking the food the first time around, but I didn't have the pasta; so figured if pasta is what they are known for, I have to try it. It was absolutely worth it. My favorite part of my meal was the red sauce in my pasta and tasting how fresh the tomatoes were. I nearly asked for a jar to take home. The ambiance is perfect for a date night as the lights are slightly dimmed and they have these beautiful arches along the bar that set the scene. The best part of it all was service we receive. The inside of this restaurant is beautiful- I love the ambiance, the decor, and all the natural light. There is a lot of parking all around the building, which is helpful if you're driving. Easy location to access. The service was really poor and would stop me from coming back here. The waiter came by 3X to ask about food and drinks, before we even had time to look at the menu (within the first 5 minutes). We then put in our order for appetizers and drinks, and told him we would place our main meal order later on. He came back 3X in 10 minutes to try and take our order, and seemed annoyed for us not being ready to order yet. It was frustrating more than anything to keep telling the waiter over and over we didn't want to put in our food order yet and then him in return being annoyed with us. After delivering our main courses, he went MIA and didn't return the rest of the meal (had to ask other waiters for water and the bill for the next hour). The food itself was average Italian food, nothing was special about it. We ordered the burrata (with tomatoes and pesto), meatball, arancini, and cacio e pepe pasta. Fantastic Italian fare We hit up this spot for lunch on a Sunday. Seated right away without a res. I am surprised I didn't know about this place considering it is just a few steps away from Kendall. We started off with the seafood fish fry which was a mix of fresh seafood. Super yummy. Then we shared 2 pizzas. The pizza itself was perfectly done. Good crisp on the crust, perfect amount of doughyness. Funghi was really delicious mushroom medley. We tried the lox pizza because we felt adventurous. Came with tons of salmon. We walked out on a birthday reservation because of this. Won't be going to lunch here with the company tomorrow either. I've worked restaurant jobs. I get it. But don't screw people over on important occasions and make false promises. Sulmona's brunch may be lesser known than nearby Cafe Luna, but it is not to be overlooked! We were able to make a Saturday 11am reservation only a couple of days before, by which time many other popular brunch spots in the area had been booked up. The atmosphere and decorations are nice, and the menu has a good variety. Service was good and efficient. We ordered: - Smoked salmon + Red onion + Capers Eggs Benedict: what you would expect from a standard brunch dish with these ingredients, and they were generous with the smoked salmon. - Prosciutto + Kale + Garlic Eggs Benedict: yummy! The prosciutto amount was also generous. I had expected it to be sliced thinner, but the flavor was nonetheless very good. - Tiramisu + Coffee Glaze French Toast: cutely arranged and the tiramisu + coffee flavor was good--a note is that this is just a regular french toast (i.e. not stuffed). - Pepperoni Pizza: a solid pizza. All were yummy and I thought portions were appropriate for the price! Though it's not known primarily for its brunch, I felt Sulmona was on par with other local places. The mushroom pizza had a variety of mushrooms and was so creamy with the fontina and Asiago cheese. For the eggs benedict we decided to try the prosciutto. LOVED the prosciutto and highly recommend this one. Finally, we tried the famous French toast. Specifically the banana bread. Absolutely delicious. If you like bananas you'll like this. Had a wonderful dinner experience at Sulmona this week - we went on a Monday night around 6 and it was POPPING! The sign of a great spot (especially given most places nearby were nearly empty at that time.) The ambiance is lovely, with super unique décor (such as a red motorcycle hanging from the ceiling - coolness) and a very friendly staff. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Kendall Square T stop - not inconvenient at all! Top 3 orders: Rosa cocktail: This almost tasted like a daquiri - sweet, flowery and so, so delicious. It was such a fun way to start off our dinner experience - it looked as good as it tasted! Sunday sauce: Despite what the name suggests, this is available as an appetizer EVERY DAY - and you have to get it. Super hearty and comforting, with a few different types of meat, heartwarming tomato sauce and a generous helping of cheese on top, this is a must-have at Sulmona. Affogato: I just feel like this is one of those things you have to get. It's obviously gorgeous, and has the perfect mix between sweet and savory (and cold and hot - opposites clearly attract here!) with the gelato and espresso poured on top. They give a generous helping of gelato, as well - not too shabby for a nice restaurant!
