    Crab fried rice
    Nicki M.

We came here during our trip to Alaska, happy to check out a place that was just a 5 minute walk from our hotel. Plus, we had a gift card, so double win. Service was sorely lacking, and staff weren't all that friendly at all. I don't require red carpet service, but the vibe was definitely more along the lines of "what do you want, order and leave us alone." Yikes. To keep things on the less expensive side, we mainly ordered from the happy hour menu, and thought we'd go tapas style, order a few things to share. Food was ok, but some of the flavors were a bit off, so a couple of items were sent back and we ordered something else instead. The crab fried rice was pretty tasty, I do recommend that. Even when we needed something (utensils or sauces), it took ages to get it--and this was often after the servers had failed to bring it with our food. This was just not a good visit overall. We opted to sit in the bar area hoping it would lead to decent service (that's usually our experience when sitting in the bar area), but NOPE. We used to have a Sullivan's in my city, and I was bummed when it closed; this location just made me sad. I don't know if the lackadaisical attitude is because they don't care about visitors they don't expect to see again or what, but a little friendliness goes a long way. I can deal with lackluster food or subpar service, but it's really hard to get both and leave feeling satisfied. $50 gift card wasted, but lesson learned. Next time we go to Alaska, we definitely won't eat here.

I walked into Sullivan's Steakhouse in Anchorage on Thanksgiving, fully expecting to be welcomed especially since their posted hours say they're open until 11. The restaurant was lively, the bar was packed, and it was obvious that service was still in full swing. Nothing about the atmosphere suggested they were closing early or winding things down. Despite this, I was immediately told they were "closed," and the interaction felt more like someone trying to cut me off at the door than giving an honest explanation. It was disappointing, especially considering that the place was still operating as usual and serving everyone already inside. If an establishment is truly closing early for the holiday, that's understandable but at least make it clear or adjust the posted hours so customers aren't misled. Instead, it came across as rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. Being turned away while the restaurant is clearly open doesn't just feel unwelcoming it feels like the opposite of hospitality. This was not the experience I expected from a place with Sullivan's reputation, and it honestly left a bad taste before I ever got a bite.

As always, I grade the food first... Five stars for a fantastic steak and wedge salad. I asked for my steak to be cooked, medium-rare and charred on the outside. It was exactly how I asked. The restaurant was very clean, and had the feel and ambience of a Capital Grill or Ruth's Chris. The wine list was decent, although wines by the glass were limited. The service was OK. For a high-end steakhouse, the wait staff should be career servers. Our waitress was friendly, and somewhat attentive, but did not measure up to a high-end restaurant experience and made several mistakes during the dining experience.

Honestly this place isnt it for dinner. You can get cheaper better steak elsewhere. No reason for this place to be $100 per person. Again, we had the Costco gift cards. This time we came on a mo day for a date night on a whim. We sat at a booth right next to the kitchen. I got the lobster bisque. It was not as rich and creamy as some local places. My passionfruit martini was not full to the brim when served. I had to send my steak back. I ordered it medium. It was charred on the outside and raw in the middle. Like it was still red and marbled. A different waitress walked by and looked confused asking if that was how I wanted it cooked? I said no. It came back better inside and more black on the outside. The lobster mashed potatoes also had shell bits in it. The baked potato was huge and good. Needed more toppings.

Great food and attentive service. Unique great tasting cocktails are served. Nice atmosphere for a "chain" restaurant.

Came in at 12:38pm for lunch. It's 1:24 PM and still waiting for my food... Don't come here on a "lunch break".

Stuffed shrimp: This was not great.. could've been seared or baked longer. Wish we would've taken the fried rice...

Went to Sullivan's last weekend for some Mommy and Daddy time. We love it there, we usually sit at the bar side because of the Ambiance :). Giving it 4 stars because we thought there would be live music, should've checked ahead of time. And some of the food was ok, not great. Our favorite was the Oyster Rockefeller, Lamb (get 2!) Seared Ahi tuna, and Eggrolls which was complementary. Matt was awesome and gave us such great service. Drinks were STRONG! I am not complaining haha we will definitely go back again. Thanks Sullivan's for always making our time great there :)!

I was greeted by a very sweet hostess and decided to sit at the bar after browsing the menu. The ambiance was welcoming, and I was assisted right away. Noah and the staff were incredibly helpful and patient, especially since it was my first time dining here. Noah took the time to explain the cooking preferences for the ribeye, which made it much easier for me to finalize my choice. I started with a salad, which was decent, though the croutons were a little stale. For my main, I ordered the Cajun ribeye with garlic potatoes and creamed spinach. Everything was flavorful, and the attentive service made the overall experience very enjoyable.

    Burger and fries

Ordered a burger and fries at 7:40 and it finally showed up at 10:20 ice cold. I spoke to Mike on the phone 3 times who told me it might be a problem with the delivery service but I don't believe it. I have had several problems with delivery orders with this restaurant and it gets worse each time. This restaurant has no idea what they are doing

Brynn K was an outstanding server...friendly and conscientious without being over bearing. The food and cocktails were exceptional as always! Who doesn't love a knock out martini?

had the pleasure of dinning at sullivan's while visiting anchorage and our server Jack was really sweet, he told us all about about the area, the restaurant and the menu. he was really enthusiastic. overall the food was good, but the service was extremely slow and the food was not hot to touch, more like warm/room temp, which kinda takes away from the experience.

I was in beautiful Anchorage and…read morewanted to grab some lunch. 49th state brewing was perfect because it wasn't far from my hotel and because it was so cold outside, I didn't want my walk to exceed 15 minutes. I was really hungry so I got there right when they opened at 11 a.m. I was able to be seated immediately and opted to sit upstairs where the tables were lower as compared to downstairs where the tables were high tops. Off the bat the food is phenomenal. For starters I got their popular handmade Bavarian pretzel. It was perfectly seasoned with butter and salt and the pretzel itself was soft and fluffy. It came with a side of cheese which was just as tasty. I was a little nervous it would taste like the melted cheese you eat at an amusement park- but this cheese had fantastic quality. One really neat thing about this brewery is they make their own fountain drinks! I tried the raspberry one and as you can see they aren't shy about the portions! The drink was really good. It had a great flavor to it, and a nice balance. The raspberry wasn't overpowering which I'm grateful for. For my entree I had the Yak burger that came with a side of tater tots. My waiter recommended I get it cooked at medium to keep it juicy. Typically I'm a medium well to well done type of girl, but I decided to trust his judgement and he was right! The burger was huge, messy, and delicious. The medium was definitely a good call. It was juicy but not so red where it would be off putting! Overall, I had a really incredible dining experience at 49th state brewing. And the prices were unbelievably reasonable. My meal came out to about $52 (not including my tip). I would love to come back when it's a bit warmer and sit outside- the views from the restaurant are phenomenal. Also, shout out to my waiter! I didn't get his name but he was so kind and the service was excellent!

When we got there we were brought to our seats. It was a long shared table for everyone. It seems as they were lacking some preparation, there wasn't a course menu on the table so you had zero idea of what you were about to be served. The first course came out, a carrot soup with an IPA. The IPA didn't come out for at least 5 minutes after the soup was out. Definitely some lag time there. Other staff walked right past us without so much as a "someone will be right with you," which set a pretty uncomfortable tone right off the bat. We eventually got seated, but even with the restaurant being pretty empty it still took a while before a server showed up to the table. Our server wasn't rude or anything, but the energy was just completely flat. It felt like he could not care less about being there. Sodas got refilled once the entire night. Between being seated and appetizers, and again between appetizers and our entrees, he was basically nowhere to be found. The thing that really got me was being asked if we wanted boxes while our plates were still full and we were just sitting there having a conversation, never once offering to top off our drinks until we finally asked. It's a shame because the food really was solid and the restaurant itself has a nice warm vibe to it. ORSO clearly has a lot going for it and on a different night with more attentive service it could easily be a 4 or 5 star experience. For now it's hard to rate it higher than a 3 when the service makes what should be a really nice dinner feel like an afterthought.

Having spent last summer in London, the attraction at TCT for us was comparing and contrasting Alaska Halibut Fish & Chips with the British fare. I wanted to like the Tent City offering; I really did not. For the price ($28/ea), we got three modest pieces of fish and the equivalent of two servings of chips. Both the fish and the chips were mushy (undercooked), with a heavy batter finish in contrast with the light and crisp British offering. The accompanying tarter sauce was an odd raspberry-and-blackberry concoction that my family and I called a pickle aftertaste. The presentation, for the price and the atmosphere, was a confusing combination of a metal basket lined with wax paper (like a 1950's drive-through), plastic water and soda glasses (like a college cafeteria), and real silverware. Other reviews have high praise for TCT so, on our next visit to Alaska, it will be good to give them another try. The bones of this establishment are in place for a really special experience, but, today, for me, it was just "ok."
