One lady and busboy is covering all the tables where there are 3 other families. We ordered tomyum soup and it is very good lots Of veg and hot, the pad Thai was below -minus and the pork basil was also not the best. Rice are very hard even the sticky rice we ordered extra very hard( it is not supposed to be like that) Anyway we tried once. This place has really gone downhill in the last year AND has increased their prices so much so that they're pricier than the best thai restaurant in NYC! Shrimp and chicken never tastes fresh, rice portions are measly, Tom yum soup is super sour and again doesn't taste fresh. Noodles are amateur. I was a little worried because of all the bad reviews, but trust me, is not that bad. we ordered four entrees and it took about 30 minutes for our food arrive on the table. the roasted duck was dry and for the price we're paying for, I think it could be better. the pad thai and panang curry was good! I'm not one to give low reviews but my friends and I made a huge mistake by coming here. Unfortunately, we didn't look into the reviews before visiting. Never do that! It's worth the five minute scan and scroll. But we were so hungry. We decided to sit outdoors and there were so many bees but that's not in their control. The service was OK not great but not the worst. We got an order of spring rolls to start off and it tasted like it was from a microwaveable meal like Lean Cuisine or something. I ordered the pad see ew and I don't understand why the prices are so high for the quality of their dishes. It was so garlicky and tasting nothing like any other pad see ew I've had in my life. Also, there were beans? in my dish? Why are there beans? And it tasted like straight ketchup and soy sauce. This establishment has a lot of potential due to the location but the food is absolute trash. I do not recommend this place at all! Please keep walking. I've had takeout from this place many times and have never really been disappointed. But rarely have I been blown away either. The curry is good but the amount of protein they give is short at times. Massaman and Paenang are my go-to orders when I want it. I recommend both, and I recommend go Thai hot or go to Burger King lol. The wonton soup is FIRE. Do not sleep on it, it's the best I've ever had. Ever. The pad Thai is passable, but not amazing. Lacks some nuances that I find elsewhere. Do NOT order the drunken noodles, it's not a good pick. Tastes like there is ketchup in it (I think there really is). Larb salad is a big YES. Get pork. It's the shizz. So flavorful. Pad grapow is okay. Not the best, but not the worst either. I hate to say it, but I really should've checked the reviews before coming here. The service is somewhat nice here, but the food is not that good and some of their business practices are questionable. We asked the waitress for recommendations and she instantly just suggested us to get the most expensive dishes without asking our preferences or explaining what is good about them. We trusted her. When the roasted duck curry arrived, it had a few pieces of fried to crisp duck and a lot of basic curry sauce. The salmon had the same sauce, but she didn't tell us that, so we were stuck with two of the same curries when we wanted more variety in our dishes. The bowls of rice that came with the curries were tiny, barely more than a fist sized portion. Like really? What am I just going to drink the curry? The curry was a bit too salty, tasted like it was made from store bought curry paste and didn't cook the canned coconut milk they added in last minute long enough. If you've ever been to a decent Thai restaurant, you would be taken aback by the taste and quality of the curry here. So we ended up ordering 2 bowls of rice, which we found out when we got the bill to be $3.50 each. It feels like they purposefully make the portions of rice tiny so they can charge you a lot for extra orders, since normally you don't pay attention to how much the extra rice costs. Even the pad thai did not have all the flavors of pad thai that most of us here know and love. It was just bland, and felt like a watered down interpretation of what they think pad thai is. One of the worst parts is at the end, the waitress just left her credit card reader on the table for us to pay. I just came back from the bathroom so I don't know if she just left it and forgot it. But she came back and said "oh just pay on it", as if I was supposed to use it like a self checkout machine. So she stands next to me when I put in my card, and when it reaches the tip screen, she quickly presses the 20% button without asking, as if I wasn't staring at the same screen she was looking at the whole time. That is just dishonest and unscrupulous to say the least. Honestly, save your money and just drive a bit further to an actual decent Thai place, I'm sure you can find on Google Maps or Yelp. I don't think this place cares about their food quality or business practices or customers, they just try to squeeze as much as they can out of you while telling you that this is authentic Thai food. Just look at the other reviews to see what I mean. I don't like leaving low reviews, but I can certainly see why they've received the low ones they have. True the restaurant was crowded but we could have at least been acknowledged by the waitress. After several attempts at getting a waitress one finally came and took our order. We ordered the Sukhothai Platter as an appetizer, my wife had the Vegetable Soup and I ordered the Gai Pad Khing to share with my wife. We arrived here at 6pm and we were the only people in the restaurant for the first half hour! A little strange, but it was nice and quiet. Good waiter service - he was very knowledgeable when we asked his advice on appetizers. He suggested the Thai Toast, (marinated ground pork and sesame on a square of toast), and it was delicious, served with a light vinegar sauce. I ordered a shrimp/pineapple red curry and my boyfriend ordered a duck/pineapple red curry, both had carrots, bell peppers, and tomatoes. The Thai iced tea was made well.. it is something we've ordered in other Thai restaurants before and this one was very yummy. You can order your spice level custom and I asked it to be hot. He asked if I wanted American hot or THAI hot, and I ordered Thai hot. I was expecting it to be unbearably hot, but it was actually quite tolerable. I have a high tolerance for spice, but I have definitely had spicier than this. The main courses were served with white rice... the rice was a little dry for my liking. I like fresh, steaming, moist rice that sticks together. This was sort of like day-old rice from a Chinese take-out. That was really my only qualm about the meal. We popped in here after a visit to storm king. We originally meant to eat at whatever food stand was open in front of Hudson valley brewery, but we wanted more of a sit down so we walked from the brewery to this restaurant. Almost right next door to the marshmallow shop where we stopped for hot cocoa and hand-crafted marshmallows after. Seated immediately. Great Thai food, good portions, reasonably priced, and free WiFi. Quiet and clean. Most of us got the drunken noodles (great). When I asked for hot sauce I got a set of four different hot sauces in cute little pots - chili oil, a soy based sauce, sweet & spicy sauce, and one other sauce. We also got the vegetarian platter for the table and one order was sufficient for 5 of us to share as an appetizer. It was an assortment of tempura veggies and tempura tofu. Towards the end of Main Street, saw this tucked away restaurant on a Saturday afternoon with some nice seating along the windows. Figured can't go wrong with Thai food so went in and quickly got one of those tables. After some selling from the waiter on a couple of high priced dishes - decided instead on sharing the Vegetable Platter ($10) and Phraram Long Song ($15). The platter is a hefty collection of eggplant, peppers, onions, carrots, and tofu deep fried into oblivion. Sauce was fine with the veggies, but just too much oil and batter. For the entree, a generous portion of pork doused in a savory peanut sauce. A solid balance and filling even without the accompanying white rice. Came here with a friend for lunch on Sunday. Was a little worried because of the bad ratings on Yelp, but was pleasantly surprised! Many reviews seem to say the food isn't authentic or flavorful. I've had authentic Thai in Thailand as well as in places in the city. I think the other reviews are too harsh. Is it the best Thai food ever? No. Is it garbage? No. I got the tom yum soup and pad siew with pork with medium spice. Also, a Thai iced tea. Thai iced tea wasn't the best, I've had better. Tom yum soup was good, not too spicy. I've had tom yum soup that packs more of a spicy punch, this one is more mild but not bad. I liked my pad siew with pork dish and found the flavor and spice good. I would get it again. Texture of the pork was more on the dry side, but it was okay so maybe a different protein next time. Friend got the Thai basil fried rice, which she raves about. I took a bite and did like the chewy texture of the rice. Pickier eaters may rate this place a 3, but I think it's deserving of a high 3 to 4. The bartender was welcoming right at the door and waitress was friendly, so service would get 5 stars from me. Not sure why people give such bad reviews for service. Maybe a different waitress? Also, friend got her leftovers wrapped up but left it at the restaurant by accident. We were about a block away when the waitress came running out with the bag! I thought that was so nice of her. This was not the Thai takeout experience I had hoped for. I ordered a lunch special from the online menu for $9.95, which was supposed to include an entree, spring roll, and a beverage. However, I did not personally pick up the order--my son did--so the missing spring roll and beverage went unnoticed until I asked where they were when my son brought the meals home. So he called the restaurant, only to be told that if he didn't ask specifically for the spring roll and drink (even though Lunch special L19 specified entree, spring roll and drink on the menu!) then too bad. No drink, no spring roll, and no apology. I won't be ordering from this restaurant again. False advertising turns me off! read more

There was another Yelper, I think from the city, that summed up perfectly how an establishment of this caliber could have such glowing reviews. 1) the reviewers have no clue what the cuisine is supposed to taste like, or have never truly had a normal or EXCELLENT authentically prepared version of the meals so they're just ignorant to the fact that THIS AINT IT 2) the lack of Competition in this cultural food blackhole of the Hudson Valley does not give settlers many options of knowing what these dishes should really taste like 3) they're not from that culture, and are excited to have non American food and think it's delicious because it's not American fare. OK fine. This food is awful, bottom line. They present me with egg roll sauce when asked for hot chili sauce. The shrimp taste like it was fresh out of a fish bowl. Fishy taste, unseasoned and overcooked tough and rubbery. The pad thai was the worst I've ever had. From a plate - cleaning foodie, I ate a few bites out of pure HUNGER. I hadn't eaten in over 8 hours and that alone Is why I could stomach swallowing that food. $2 for 2 tsps of peanut sauce. $17 for shrimp pad thai that taste like Marilyn Monroe made it (5 shrimp) and service where you get food dropped on the table and no one ever returns. I sadly have to now profile who is reviewing these establishments. Mostly the glowing reviews of many of the cultural food places up here are off. Way off and written by Americans that aren't from that culture. So, sadly can't trust Yelp for all places in the Hudson Valley. This being one of them. The good news, if you live up here and are a local, you'll probably LOVE the nasty food, as witnessed by your comrades. The reviews had us worried before we even walked through the door, but we walked in to find a very cool ambiance inside this restaurant. We ordered drinks and our thai tea came out in less than a minute which was great! It took more than 30 minutes for our four entrees which is okay. The three stars for this restaurant is accurate because there are better Thai restaurants and there are worse Thai restaurants. The pad see ew is not something I'd recommend. It was dry and tasted like a load of sweet soy sauce. The panang curry saved this meal! I really enjoyed it actually. My two girlfriends and I had lunch at Sukhothai Authentic Thai Cuisine and it was a delicious, healthy treat. The restaurant is quiet so that you can have a conversation. We were surrounded by beautiful paintings that added to the ambience of the restaurant. The restaurant and restroom were immaculate. Two of us had Pad Thai with Shrimp, which was delicious and filling. Also I had Thai Tea, which is sweet and creamy. For dessert, I had Mango with Thai Rice. It was the tastiest and smoothest mango I had ever eaten - there was absolutely no fiber that would catch in my teeth. We definitely will be back! read more

Had such a great experience here tonight! Service was excellent and SUPER fast, and the food tasty and well prepared. My wife and I returned home from Thailand late last summer and have been looking for a nice Thai food restaurant to satisfy our tasting. We tried this restaurant the other day and I would say the food was mediocre. It was ok, but was very far from authentic Thai cuisine. The food was lacking many different elements and were, in my tasting, only experiencing one level of elements which is not Thai cuisine. When I was in Thailand, I fell in love with Singha beer. This restaurant had Singha which is a great plus. The decor was very far from normal Thai decorations. This restaurant appeared to have a rustic city bar atmosphere. If anyone compliments this restaurant for its atmosphere and decor has obviously never visited / lived in Thailand or seen pictures of Thai culture. Upon Entering you will notice the original casual chic brick wall interior. The venue has quiet ambiance, and soft music in background. One or two meaningful pictures Hung proudly on wall from the Thai culture. The menu offered choices for all palettes. I am trying to stay on vegetable only diet and their menu did not disappoint. My wife and brother ate lunch at the Sukhothai Restaurant and we all enjoyed the experience. I am not Asian nor is my wife or brother. We like Italian, Chinese, French, Greek, traditional American fare and have tried many cultural experiences in the many fine restaurants in New York City. I read many of the Yelp reviews prior to choosing this restaurant and decided to give it a try as my brother wanted to go. We enjoyed this restaurant and I would go again. We started with the Sampler appetizer and enjoyed the Spring Rolls (veggie, chicken, and shrimp) and the Chicken Satay with the various dips, from mild to hot. I can take the heat and tried all four and do not think them too hot for my taste. My brother stopped at the Chili sauce dip which was number three and my wife did not go beyond number two as she is not fond of spice heat. My brother ordered the Thai Curry Sampler and enjoyed all of them but the Massaman was his favorite. My wife ordered the Vegetable Pad Thai and liked it very much. I ordered Gaeng Massaman Curry and liked it very much. We were served promptly and were there over an hour as we are retired and in no hurry. The restaurant was not crowded and service was excellent. We ordered desert. My brother had ice cream and I ordered Fried Banana with Coconut ice cream. Delicious! The price was reasonable, in accord to what we pay here in Bethlehem Pennsylvania at our Thai Restaurant. This place is what I imagine authentic Thai cuisine would be. Having never been to Thailand, I don't have much to compare it too! Nothing about Sukhothai is haute cuisine, but they aren't pretending that it's anything other than just good food. We find the portions plentiful, and like the fact that most of their dishes can be spiced to order - from very mild to hot. On our recent visit we started with Sukhothai Mussels - which were the largest mussels I've EVER seen and very delicious and the Chicken Satay - which was perfectly cooked. I could have enjoyed a bit more sauce, but it was flavorful and very peanutty. We chose two different curries for our entrees. Panang with Tofu and Massaman with Chicken. Both were very good, but the husband who likes his very hot, was a bit disappointed in the lack of heat, but loved that the tofu was fried before being added to the dish - rather than just thrown in as a afterthough. I on the other hand can't do heat, so I ordered my dish mild, and honestly felt it was a bit too mild. After tasting my husband's "very hot" curry, I thought the heat was fine for me, so I would say if ordering, don't be too afraid to just order the dish as-is- the spice isn't very hot at all. Service was fine - nothing to write home about, but no major issues either. We had a good, reasonably-priced meal here and had plenty of leftovers. If you're looking for authentic Thai food - it's definitely worth a visit! I'd add another half star to make it 3.5 stars if I could. read more
