We stopped in for lunch during the week. I ordered chicken and broccoli off of the lunch menu and requested it be made spicy. The food prep time was pretty standard and really didn't take long at all. Keep in mind, if you're looking to pay with a card then there's a $10 minimum. The food itself was just really basic. The food here is pretty good. I used to come here over a decade ago, and I feel they've improved from what I remember - and my palate has way more experience now lol. I should also add, we don't order anything super fancy, so this review may be "basic!" My mother and I try to limit meat in our diet, so we ordered the sautéed broccoli, which is basically the chicken or shrimp and broccoli without the chicken/shrimp. Others ordered fried chicken wings, crab Rangoon, and shrimp & broccoli combo. We picked up our food and it was hot and fresh. The woman at the counter was very friendly. The broccoli dish was delish, though I wish there was more sauce on it and a little less oil. The chicken was tasty and looked pretty! The crab Rangoon was good as well. Best Chinese food we've had since moving to PA. Ordered the basics just to compare to what we are used to and found everything enjoyable

At first was really happy with this place. Everything tasted great. Until I broke a very good tooth on General Taos chicken. A lot of the pieces were hollow. Very hard. Not only split my tooth bruised my gum. Dentist couldn't believe it. Now I lost a healthy tooth and I have a dentist bill. Not to mention replacement. Too bad, the people are very nice there. You don't get a second chance at a first impression. I went to this place once about two years ago. The lo mein was luke warm at best. The egg rolls were cold and the dumplings were some of the worst I had in a while. I'll never go there again. It's a waste of money. read more

This is an okay Chinese Place. I tend to just get chicken wings and fries lol. Not really chinese huh? I know I know. Either or. I have had the general tsos chicken and fried rice as well. But it was really not that good to me. The chicken wings here are really good though. They have a nice flavor to them. They tend to be really busy on friday nights, so just keep that in mind if you try to place a phone order. They might tell you 15 minutes, when it could actually turn in 40 minutes. We eat here all the time the woman who answers the phone is so nice I don't know how she does it but when I call she knows it's us so when we get there she has all the extra's we would ask for all ready in the bag ( tea bags, sauces, hot oil) she doesn't ask you for your phone number nothing & because we go there all the time she will give us extra things in the bag it's very nice of her. The food is great you get a lot of it to. We have ordered a lot of different things & it's all really good. We drive from pleasant valley to there because we are that happy with main moon. read more

I've only been to Main Moon as far as Poughkeepsie Chinese food goes, so I can't really compare them to anyone else in the area. The portion sizes are good and the prices are pretty in line with most of the other Chinese restaurants I've been to in other areas. My biggest problem I encountered on our visit was with the Fried Rice. We all got Combination Platters and while the chicken dishes we ordered were on point, the Shrimp fried rice lacked significant flavor. It also seemed like the shrimp was going bad, too. It had a strong fish smell to it and it just wasn't appealing, so while we all ate our main dish, we all tossed the rice. The other disappointing thing (at least for me) was that my General Tso's Chicken did not come with broccoli. There were some vegetables with it, but no broccoli. Traditionally you get the chicken and broccoli in the sauce and the broccoli tends to be one of my favorite parts of the dish. The flavor and chicken were good, but I definitely missed the broccoli. I'm sure we might be back in the future, but I can't say at this point that this will end up being our go-to Chinese spot. read more

If I could give this less than one star, I would. The food was awful, they wouldn't let me pay the way I wanted AND they wouldn't even cook what I wanted! They said what I wanted would take 20 minutes, and they could do something similar instead. Even after I said I'd wait, they STILL insisted on cooking the alternative option. And they weren't friendly at all. Even the atmosphere was awful - another customer got nasty with me when I was talking to the owners about my preferred payment method. Like... butt out, dude?
