Drunken Noodle
Jacklyn K.

We ordered take out from Thailicious and our meals were delish. I had the drunken noodles with tofu and my partner veggie Thai fried rice. We both loved the freshness of the veggies and the flavor profiles. Love a spicy Thai dish which the drunken noodles satisfied. Portions were decent but not excessive. Prices on the higher side but also not unreasonable for the quality. I picked up and the location is pretty low key in a small strip of stores, but was cute and cozy inside. The only note I'll make is that the online ordering system doesn't allow you to make dishes vegetarian but if you call they can easily make subs.

This place has great decor and large live plants. Its clean and bright. The service was friendly and food was served in a reasonable time. I had the green papaya salad, tasty! The Pad Thai with chicken was awesome! It was full of the expected flavors for Pad Thai. I shall return next time I am on the area.

Did a visit to a friend and Poughkeepsie and stayed for 2 nights and wanted what a thai resto in the area tastes like and we liked it! Has a parking space. Accepts credit/debit cards. High chair available. Spacious table spacing. If you crave for a dessert after a spicy thai. A ice cream shop is just a walkby at the side. Service was great!

Thai Iced Tea and green tea special

Everyone complains about the wait here, and I get it.....it takes a while to get your food and if you are just looking to pickup a to go order that can be frustrating. However, they have a sign that explains how short staffed they are and to bear with them as wait times will be long. ITS WORTH THE WAIT! I recommend ordering in, staying at a table, getting a few drinks and order course by course. We actually got free iced green tea because it was the owners birthday! We then started off with appetizers, the chicken satay and summer rolls came out first. We decided to ask if we could add shrimp to the summer rolls and they were able to do that. The chicken satay with the peanut sauce was delicious and incredibly juicy. We then ordered a salad that had fried tofu and pineapple in it, I would honestly skip this salad and get a house salad instead, the veggies were fresh and the ginger dressing was tangy a great combo! However, the pineapple in the salad was not fresh just canned and the fried tofu was not freshly fried it was old, cold and dried out. So next time we will just get a different salad. Our main entrees we got were beef pad Thai and cashew chicken. We asked for the cashew chicken to be spicy and they were able to make that accommodation no problem. The beef pad Thai was delicious as the peanuts and bean sprouts added a nice crunch and the beef was tender & flavorful. Lastly the best part was the mango sticky rice one of my all time favorites. The mango was so ripe and juicy it felt like I was eating a fresh one off a tree. The sticky rice had a delicious coconut sauce on top that wasn't skimpy at all. We actually got the pineapple rice to our table after we were done with our main entrees but we took it to go and had it the next day, the pineapple was canned and not fresh but the flavor over all was nice as a side dish. We will be back but I recommend anyone looking for a quick dinner come back instead when you have time to dine here, our dinner was a little over 2.5 hours but have a few drinks while you wait and enjoy!

There aren't many Thai options in the area so it's not bad considering. A bit of a bummer for the price though.

We were there at lunchtime on a Monday, which is typically a slower day for restaurants, but we were only one of two tables yet there was no real enthusiasm by the wait staff, two women with seemingly no mission. My daughter and I pressed on, however, having a craving for Thai cuisine. I had been here many years ago and found the food to be good but the service to be subpar. I've traveled throughout Asia extensively over the years so I find this complacency at this particular restaurant and anomaly. The food, however, was excellent. We ordered the duck with in a curry sauce, explaining my allergies to alliums. The meal was well presented, well seasoned, and allium free. So they earned back a star for that. My daughter ordered glass noodles with chicken and vegetables, which also was presented very well and extremely tasty. She was very pleased. We stuck with water, but I would've enjoyed being offered a pot of tea, even at a price. We were there for about an hour and saw two or three takeout orders, and one other table will be seated. Very slow indeed. There was a lot of downtime for the weight staff, but they didn't seem to feel it important to check in on us. That's a shame. So here's where we stand: five stars for the food and the value. Three stars for the atmosphere. And unfortunate two stars for Service. My rating is a generous three stars because the food saved the day.

I particularly enjoyed the Vassar noodle bowl, which featured chewy noodles in a coconut milk curry sauce (allegedly Malaysian, more Malaysian "inspired") with BBQ pulled pork on top!! I would never have thought to combine these two ingredients, but they work beautifully together. It's a very warm and comforting dish, and the mint, cilantro, and radish garnish helps provide a bit of contrast. I liked the sour cream drizzle on top, too. I feel like this dish could really be fantastic if they adjusted the thickness and amount of curry sauce (the noodles are swimming in it like a soup) and provided more herbs and radishes on top. It could also benefit from a crispy topping to provide textural contrast. I've had other things from here that I've liked, but that weren't anything special. Like the Malaysian curry, their chicken tikka masala sauce also has a very runny texture, instead of the thicker richer sauces I've had elsewhere. And their bao buns are honestly not worth buying, since they have no hoisin sauce or creamy aioli/slaw element that binds together the rather dry meat, pickle slices, and scallions in each bun. They seem to exclusively be a grab and go kind of place, which makes sense to me as it's in a college town. Inside it's small and rather bleak, without any kind of decoration and not much seating. They take a pretty long time to prepare orders too, so plan ahead in case you're in a hurry.

Seating inside is very limited the employees are friendly. The noodle bowl was very good but a little small but the curry wasn't too spicy and had a nice coconut cream relief. The braised porky belly rice bowl was a nice portion but the sauce was a little over bearing. Could've used a little more of the nuts to give it a better texture. The bao buns were very good. Nice fluffy warm buns and packed with the pulled pork. We also got the Thai tea and lavender lemonade. Lemonade was amazing it had chia seeds in it. The Thai tea was okay. It was way too creamy to the point it was white and I couldn't really taste the tea that much. I'm not from the area but if I ever came back maybe I would try something different from the menu

I was craving ribs, and…read morewhen I saw this place not only had them but also served hibiscus lemonade, I made the executive decision to have my family drive to Poughkeepsie from our bed & breakfast just to check it out. Worth it? Mostly, yes! Food: 4/5 We tried a little bit of everything, the Seared chicken breast - Hands down my favorite dish of the night. Perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, and flavorful. Followed by the Bacon, egg, and homemade biscuit - A close second! The biscuit was dense and satisfying, and it had a really unique pesto-like sauce on top that made it memorable. Some other shout outs: 1) Orecchiette veggie pasta - Orecchiette is hard to find on menus, so I was delighted to see it here. It was a nice light option among our heavier dishes. 2) Jerk ribs - OK, so this is where my expectations and reality didn't fully align. They were well-cooked, but I'm a saucy girl, and these weren't as slathered or juicy as I'd hoped. That said, the rest of my table really enjoyed them. Also, that hibiscus lemonade? Chef's kiss. Refreshing and flavorful, and exactly the kind of detail that makes a place stand out to me. Service: 4/5 Now, here's where I was really surprised: one person was running the whole show. The head chef was managing the kitchen and the front of house--no servers, no extra help. Just him. For the amount of work that entails, he crushed it. Was it a bit slower than a staffed restaurant? Of course. But honestly, it gave the whole experience a humble, homegrown vibe that I appreciated. Also, it meant a lot to support a Black-owned restaurant and actually connect with the person behind the food. Final Thoughts: While we came for dinner, I could tell from the menu (and the vibe) that this place is really known for brunch. I'm genuinely curious to come back during brunch hours to see how the energy--and menu--might shift. Either way, it's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for a spot with heart, flavor, and soul.

Service is always hit and miss here but better than bonsai to where you usually get RUDE service. The omen was my own home, so no complaints here. The sushi was fresh. Our pic was coconut mango rolls, which are wrapped in rice paper instead of Nori, eel, avocado, rolls, and California mango, which I had never had before. Most of this was appealing to my daughter and she really enjoyed it. I was in the mood for some tempura so we had the appetizer order. Don't bother with a temporary here. It is heavy and my guess is that they overuse the oil everything looked gray. Sorry I did not take pictures. She was way too hungry for that. All in all, given that this set us back about $50 plus tip and the tempera was subpar, they score 3 today.

They also have a decent bar, featuring sake, cocktails, beer and wine. On my most recent visit they were sold out of a couple of the imported Asian beers, not to fear though. They also have a decent list of local draft beers. So of course I pivoted to a IPA. For dinner we started with the Korean Wings ($14) from their extensive specials list, as well as the Shanghai and Singapore Noodles ($16 ea.) The wings were fried perfectly and the sauce was a well-balanced blend of sweetness and spice. For our noodle dishes, we were surprised to find that with the special you get a combo of chicken, shrimp and pork, as opposed to the choice of only one when you order from the regular dinner menu. Price point also varies depending on your protein. The Shanghai noodles were saucy, with a good amount of veggies with noodles similar to that of chow mein. Alternatively the Singapore noodles are very thin, spiced with a bit of curry and extremely flavorful. We enjoyed both and loved the care that was given by our server. She checked in and updated us about our order, while carefully navigating our needs without interrupting our intimate dinner. Red House is most definitely on my list for my next Happy Hour with the ladies. Signed, The Happy Hour Huntress
