It's no luxurious spa but they do a great job. I've been getting my nails and toes done there for 3 years!! I use to get the long acrylics and I grew out of that but Tony is the one to see if you like getting that done!! He did an excellent job with any design I could dream up. Now I just go to get my feet done and Monday-Wednesday they have a $20 pedicure deal and I always go for that. My paint always stays on for a few weeks! It is not easy to find a good nail salon. I am from New York City where there are tons of nail places offering mani-pedis for $20, so its a tad bit disappointing when the local area has mani-pedis for $40 on average. Welllll... I just moved to the area and I am not impressed with my options of nail salons. I came here once before and the customer service is so so awful. Nobody acknowledges you when you walk in. The TV Is loud and in another language with no subtitles. The first time I came, the woman who gave me a no chip told me I was done when one of my fingers was completely smudged. I showed her and she acted offended.. it's no chip. It shouldn't be smudged. She then showed all the other ladies who worked there and decided she would fix it. I apologized, even though I had no idea what I did wrong. I also needed my eyebrows done and when I went in the room, there was a man sleeping on the bed next to me. This place is where I got my nails done for the first time in my life. I never go anywhere else now. They're cheap but the job they do is far from it. In the summer I go their once a week to get a new color, but now that its winter I dont have the will to. Anyway, the ladies there are always friendly and caring and the service is quick and to its fullest. Honestly, it's really 4.5 stars for me, but I've been loyal to Steph for 6 years now. The $27 mani/pedi has some of my friends from the suburbs coming in... As other yelpers said, it's a no frills salon. The salon could use a mini-makeover (take the cheesy posters down and fake flowers and a fresh coat of paint on the wall.) They do a good job and get you in and out. When it's crowded, there's definitely a wait. I think Stephanie is the best, but there are others that are also great. Nancy does my mom's nails (we sometimes go together) and she's great and especially gentle on acrylic/gel nails. I should mention that Steph does my gel nails and they look so natural that NO ONE knows or thinks they're fake. The owners are Linda and Tony. Honestly, both of them do a good job also. However, if Steph's out of town, I won't have Linda do my nails because her station is right by the door and it's annoyingly hot in the summer and freezing in the winter. At the beginning, it was a comedy of errors when I would make an appt for Stephanie with Stephanie... Now they know me! Had to teach one of the nail ladies how to do an ombre after my original lady told me she couldn't and wouldn't do it. I also got a pedicure and the lady started to put on my nail polish without any type of leg massage. I've been coming here for a while since they've opened. I stop going because now they do not treat all of their customers the same. They cater to the newly white clients and are rude to everyone else who has supported their business since they've opened. They lack customer service and customer appreciation when it comes to certain ethnicities. The owners (mother and father) and daughter Amy are rude and will argue with you especially if you are not white. The mom and dad do not know how to do pedicures. The mom will jack you up and get mad at you for not liking it. Although Amy does a good job on mani's and pedi's she sometimes lacks professionalism. Stephaine is awesome. She needs her own shop. I went on a Sunday (no line, no wait) and got a pedi and no-chip manicure. I've gotten no-chip at other salons and usually within 4-5 days, there are chips and I get frustrated and peel it off. It's been two weeks already and not a single chip! My nails are growing out so I need them redone but this is seriously the best manicure I've had. As a side note, when I chose the color, I wasn't crazy about it. She did my toes and then began on my nails and I decided the color was too light. She changed it out and did an extra coat on my toes so it would match for no extra charge. I also got my eyebrows done and she did an excellent job as well!!! I will definitely come back here. Won't be going back again. I've tried several of the other nail salons around Ukrainian Village that I like much better, but this place accepts walk-ins, so when I couldn't get an appointment elsewhere I went here. I recently went in for a no-chip manicure and pedicure. The pedicure was mediocre. The no-chip ended up being an entirely awful experience. The technician went crazy (CRAZY!) scraping off my previous no-chip polish, it was torture. She used a metal cuticle pusher, pressing down as hard as she possibly could on my nails and pushing back into the cuticles themselves. It hurt so bad, and one of my cuticles started bleeding because of it. Then she proceeded to use the cuticle clippers, and cut two of my other fingers, one so badly that it didn't stop bleeding the entire time I was there. It hurt all afternoon. Side note: I'm no stranger to getting manicures. Sometimes it hurts a bit, sometimes the tech cuts a little to much, etc... accidents happens. But this experience was on a whole other level. So painful. So at that point I had three bloody and sore fingers that then got buffed and filed just as aggressively before being sprayed with alcohol. Ouch! Two fingers with smaller cuts stopped bleeding, but the one was still looking bad. However, that didn't stop the technician from starting to apply the polish. She didn't even attempt to stop the bleeding or clean it off the nail/cuticle. Which was just lovely, because I ended up having one nail with a rim of blood around the cuticle UNDER THE POLISH! Not only did it look terrible, but it had only been a day and the no-chip polish started to lift off where the blood was and then ultimately chipped off. And then there is the space and the staff. The place is rough inside- really dated decor and kind of dingy. Which wouldn't be a big issue for me if the quality of service was great. But it wasn't. My tech was horrible, and the rest of the staff didn't seem much better. Two of the ladies working were walking around the salon eating corn on the cob and chit chatting - completely unprofessional. I would feel a little better about this whole experience if it was a super cheap, but it was $50 for the pedicure and no-chip. Which isn't really any cheaper than other better/nicer/cleaner/gentler nail salons in the area. Don't waste your money here. read more

The manicurist was digging through a basket of dirty tools when it flipped over and a ton of nail clippings fell out! Her work station was filthy and the smell in the salon was awful. You have been forwarned there is nothing visually appealing about this spa but you will find locals and urban chic girls here. The nail polish wall is a hot mess- the OCD in me wanted to rearrange the bottles by color and brand......some Essie, OPI and other labels I don't recognize. My technician was really good...had a feather light touch I could not even feel her trimming and polishing. I'm lazy and don't like to leave my hood and was looking for a good deal for a mani-pedi, I definetely found it. 27 Mon- wed and 3 extra for French on the fingers which lasted about two weeks is great! I watched them sterilize everything and my toes look so cute, def will be going back. I came here out of need when I was feeling inpatient about getting a gel set removed. HUGE MISTAKE. My nails were barely soaked and then ripped apart. The attachments she used on her electric file were WAY rougher than necessary. After getting that chop job done I didn't trust her to do a no-chip so I asked for a regular manicure. Again, poorly done. She didn't even ask what shape I'd like. I came in with long rounded nails so I can't imagine why she would assume I'd want short square ones. They turned out lumpy and uneven. The products used were all cheap and of terrible quality. There's a terrible selection for normal polish. I am always more than happy to look past "dumpy" surroundings if I'm getting good service but this place really lacks it all. NEVER RETURNING. read more

Oh Yelp - Sometimes I just can't trust you... I went here based on the fairly positive reviews. Let me say, the second I walked in, I thought to myself "Turn around - it's not worth it." But I had a bridal shower the next day, and it the weekend forecast looked like flip flop weather, and I couldn't get in at my regular salon - so I decided to stay. Big Mistake - They told me to go pick a color. Easy, I thought - My favorite Essie for summer. Even if I had the patience to go through their disheveled presentation of polishes (all diferrent brands, not assorted in any way) I would not have been able to find Ballet Slippers by Essie. It literally looked like they bought all of the polishes second hand from other salons. I managed to find a bottle of O.P.I. Lincoln Park After Dark and sat down in the most uncomfortable massage chair ever. After soaking my feet in tepid water for about 20 minutes, a nail technician finally came over to me. "Water good?" She asked. Umm, what good does it do to ask now? My feet are pruned because they've been soaking for so long. I'm not going to ask you to change it now. Nothing else was memorable...no bells or whistles like a massage or anything (I wasn't expecting much for the $30 mani/pedi) But what really did it for me was when she was doing my finger nails, I got a good look at the color. It was NOT Lincoln Park After Dark. Far more purple. I think that they filled up the bottle (which I checked again - clearly said Lincoln Park After Dark) with some other polish. Even as I am writing this, I find in unbelievable - who would even take the time to do something that weird???? I didn't bother complaining, as my technician didn't speak English, and this place is such s cluster, I just wanted to get out. So, I decided to just wait and share with Yelp so that others don't have the same misfortune. Furthermore - it's 2 days later and they are chipped. I got off of work yesterday a little after 5 and was dreading the drive back home. As I got in my car, I slipped my shoes off to put my flip flops on to drive. On closer inspection, I noticed my toes were crying. They were crying, saying,"Please! The winter is over and the last DIY pedicure you gave us chipped the next day." Alright already! Sheesh. Came in for a pedicure and Dina and Stephanie and Nancy are really good but the lady owner is disrespectful and horrible at full sets! I honestly will not be coming back anymore and I've been a loyal customer for many years ! And I still had to pay for my pedicure after being scolded today! Unsanitary and unclean . They double dip in the alcohol after a bloody removal of my ingrown nail, god knows how many people they've done this to! Use a better safer method before you get sued. I haven't been able to find a new nail spot in my hood, and figured I'd give this place a shot. I came on a Thursday late afternoon, and was able to book an appointment with Stephanie. She was mentioned enough on other reviews that I figured I could play it safe. I got in and was overwhelmed by the number of nail polish bottles to choose from, and finally settled on Dutch Tulips, which seemed appropriate since I was going to see my family in Holland for the upcoming weekend. Stephanie was pretty friendly and easy to talk with. She did a better job on my feet than my hands, but it was $30 and I figured for the price it was a good value. Other spots closer to me were looking at the price ranges of $45 or so. It's a no frills spot with minimal decor, but yet it boasts a clientele with a bunch of regulars that make it a busy spot as well. It wasn't the best job, but still pretty good. I am pretty tough to please when it comes to nails because I look for the extra skin that wasn't cut off the clippers, the cuticles to be pushed back, the stuff scraped underneath the nails, the nail to be filed in what I deem to be a straight line for a square edge, and the same length relative to the rest of the nails, no air bubbles in the paint job, even coat of paint, the entire nail to be covered in paint - no part of the nail showing whatsoever, and no excess paint landing anyplace else. Of course the paint job should ideally last at least a week or two, and not chip easily. I can see myself coming back. If I need a massage or something I'll go some place else for that. My feet were in pretty bad shape, so I'm just appreciative of them looking nice again. read more

I got the no chip manicure, I picked my color and everything seemed to be fine until she started applying the color, I noticed it wasn't the right one and told her right away to which she responded "I know, but this color is better for you" ummmm I'm always open to suggestions but she didn't even bother asking me. Best. Ever. They really get the job done. And it is a job. I get compliments on my nails all the time. At first I just went here cause it is literally next door to my house, but after trying out several other nail places in different price ranges Stylish Nails still comes out on top. The prices cannot be beat and the vintage nail art photos on the wall are so rad. I've been going here for over a year - and I love it. The only reason I went w/4 stars instead of 5 is that I don't want to give the impression it's a luxury place. Here's what it is: clean, friendly, fast, thorough, takes credit cards, you can call ahead and book an appointment and it will be on time or very close. I usually request Stephanie - because when she gave me a pedicure, I decided she's the best in Chicago. I've been to places in the Gold Coast and Old Town and none of them have ever done 1/2 the job she does on my feet. There are a lot of colors in the back - but this salon is also good about having recent collections from OPI - you might need to dig or ask, but they're around. read more

I have been going to this nail salon for the past 12 years and I think they do a really great job. I have seen the customer base change as the neighborhood has changed, which has been good as the customer base is more diverse. You will also find both men and women inside. It's family owned. If there was a way to give negative stars this place would earn -5. This was my first and definitely last time I come to this shop. I came in for a simple French pedicure. I told the tech several times I wanted a French pedicure. I picked out my colors and she had a fit because she started off the job wrong because she didn't know I wanted French, after I told her several times and handed her two colors when I sat down. Then she had a fit with the colors I chose and she took it upon herself to get her own colors to do the job. This is not my first pedicure and definitely not my first French. I specifically told her that I did not want the white they use for French pedicures, I wanted something softer. I asked if they had something lighter than the one she was trying to put on me and she and another tech both said they didn't have anything like that. After sitting through their rambling and bad nothing me in their native tongue, I told her that I didn't want anything and got off the chair. They then tried looking for something. I said no. They continued bad mouthing me. I went to the register and charged me full price and had the audacity to ask if I had cash for a tip! I didn't even get my pedicure! I should not have even been charged. I called the next day and spoke to the so called manager named Stephanie. I asked for a manager and she said what do you want. She knew who I was and she asked me what my point was. I asked for a refund for not getting a pedicure and she said no. She said it was too bad and they already got their money so I can't do anything about it. She pretty much rubbed it in my face that they got paid for nothing and said there wasn't anything I can do about it. These people are rude and ignorant. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's small, dirty, their polishes are old and dry. They don't have a selection of colors. Your bound to get nail fungus from those old polishes. I went on a Saturday afternoon in which most good places have a wait but this place was full of empty seats which now I know why people don't go here. Get ready for all of them to bad mouth you when you get stuck with a crappy nail tech that doesn't know how to do nails or will refuse to do what you ask for and they will charge you full price for a bad job or no job for that matter AND will ask you for a tip!
