Came here on a Wednesday evening to get my eyebrows threaded (just clean up)! You sign up on the waitlist near the front desk, but there was barely a wait (~5 mins max). Vibe was more small salon shop. Note: they take apply pay! The lady doing my eyebrows was very efficient and communicative. Took like 10 mins max. She asks what you want for your eyebrows and follows your instructions! I thought what I asked for and what I got was pretty similar! She will give you cooling gel after if you request it. My service was $14 not including tip! I would come again once in a while, may be when I have another eyebrow emergency and my wallet agrees! read more

Under new management. The eyebrow threading work is still solid, but I haven't had a great experience with forehead threading. I'm a woman who has been growing out my hairline for the past 8 months with the goal of making my forehead look smaller, and every time I've gone in for forehead threading and explained that I want to keep as many baby hairs as possible (even taking a mirror and pointing to the hairs), they've taken a ton of hair off my hairline. Every time they just nod as if they understand the request but don't ask any followup questions. The last time I went, they completely removed 8 months of growth... which really surprised me because the hair was LONG and not once did they check in with me to check in with me about what they were doing. It's pretty upsetting to grow your hair out for almost a year and have it decimated in fifteen minutes. I was a monthly customer for over a year with the old owner Nirmala, who I never had this issue with. Nirmala was extremely communicative and made sure she understood what I wanted before she started the service, whether she was threading my eyebrows or my forehead. Unfortunately, I won't be returning with the new management. I would err on the side of caution if you have specific requests, because IMO the new owners are not as communicative or conservative about hair removal as the old owner was. read more

Update! They now have their own storefront, right next to Firewings! Best place in Berkeley by far! I've tried multiple places around campus and this is my favorite. The place can be a little hard to find, as the space is shared with a photo shop. There are usually a sign on the sidewalk advertising the place. The lady is extremely friendly and welcoming. The wait is never long. She is quick, but doesn't rush. She always listens to how I want my brows to look and they always come out great. It is as painless as eyebrow threading can get (I'm not particularly good with pain), and she checks in throughout the process to make sure I'm doing ok. $9 eyebrow threading is as low as it gets around here! I came in yesterday for brow threading. For the record, the business changed locations so it is no longer at the same place as the passport shop; don't be fooled by the "eyebrow threading" awning on the outside and just look the updated address up on Google. The pros of my experience are that the owner was very nice, the thread she used didn't hurt my eyebrow area at all, and the price of the service was a steal ($11, not including tip) and she took Venmo. However, after I went home and looked at my eyebrows a bit closer, I noticed that her work was a bit sloppy; she missed a couple of baby hairs on top of both eyebrows and some longer, thin hairs below. She also missed some scattered hairs at the end of the brows. I had to pluck all the stray hairs out with tweezers in order for my brows to look clean, but I shouldn't have to do that given that the purpose of my visit was to clean up my brows. I was drawn to this place because of its convenient location and the overall positive reviews, but I unfortunately didn't have the same positive experience as other reviewers. Even though the price of the service was inexpensive, I would've been upset had i paid any more given the quality of work I received. I think there are better locations for threading in Berkeley and I'll probably stick to those other places instead. read more

Glad I came here on a very short notice and was able to be seen. I needed to get my eyebrows done last minute last Thursday prior to going down to my sister's wedding in Southern Cal. I came here based on reviews and am super glad I did because the other places did not get back to me for an appointment. I guess this place you can schedule an appointment or walk in. I had scheduled one between 2:30-3pm. Unfortunately, I was running late but Nirmala was still able to see me. This place is very small and is inside a photo lab on one side of the street in Berkeley Square. So it was actually difficult for me to find it at first because I came through that side of the street. This is no fancy big salon and there were only two seats. To my relief no one was there at the time either for walk-in or appointment so she was able to see me at 3:30pm. This was my first experience with eyebrow threading and it was at first shocking because I usually do my own eyebrows and mainly do them only on special occasions and I take my time due to pain. So, I actually felt more pain than I was used to in the 7 minutes that she cleaned up my eyebrows. But, it was TOTALLY worth it! My eyebrows NEVER looked so good! And it cost me only $9. Fast, efficient and affordable, and now I know I can walk in too. Nirmala was also super kind, gave me a break in between one eyebrow to the eyebrow, and explained the benefits of eyebrow threading as opposed to waxing. She also gave me a punch/points card that after so many visits you get a free one. I am definitely coming back when I am in Downtown Berkeley. read more

I've only been here once but no complaints! It is a tiny little space; not really much more than a couple of chairs and mirrors, however it seemed clean and the chair was comfortable. I didn't make an appointment but when I arrived there was no wait. The threader was friendly and gracious. She was fast and did a good job. I come here to get my brows and lip threaded occasionally before formal events (dinners, parties, photos, etc.) and I love it here always. Decently priced, and Nirmala is the best! She really cleans up my brows and is so sweet and polite. She's also super gentle and even though I was nervous when I first came, she's just so sweet ahh love her. I've been here a few times now. It's become my regular eyebrow threading spot since moving to the East Bay. She does a good job. And $14 for eyebrow/lip, cannot beat it! The wait is never too long and also a hop and a skip from Ashby BART makes it super convenient. I only had one weird instance when I showed up when she opened and she wasn't there. I called and she said she wasn't there because she didn't have an appointment. She showed up 10 minutes later. Not a big deal since she's been there every other time I went. I've been looking for a place to get my eyebrows threaded in the East Bay for a few weeks, and have finally found the spot! Yes, it's a hole in the wall that shares a space with a printing or passport photo shop (unclear what else is offered here), but the front space is two seats for eyebrow threading and she's does a very good, meticulous job! She spends more time with my brows than other places I've been to, making sure that they're both even. Although she was just cleaning them up, they look so much better, I'm excited I found her! The price is also right. I'm used to $8 for eyebrow threading at my usual spot in NYC, so I was glad to see her prices were the same. I am not looking for a fancy salon experience when getting my eyebrows threaded - no frills is totally fine! She also offers you a stamp card where you can get one threading free after 6 or 7 paid for. They had a deal that was $40 for unlimited eyebrow threading for 3 months, which is actually a pretty good deal. Only downside is that it's right by UC Berkeley, so parking is tough...however, it is really close to Bart if that's an option! read more

GREAT PLACE IN BERKELEY FOR EYEBROW THREADING!!!! You literally cannot beat the price, at $8 for eyebrows. Not to mention the card that she gives you, if you come in 6 times you get one free. I accidentally said I wanted my eyebrows "straight" and forgot to mention "arched". Well, when she finished and I was a little disappointed at the lack of arching, she did the best she could to bring an arch back into my eyebrows and specifically said we will let them grow out so that next time the arch can be more defined. She was a perfectionist with my eyebrows, and used the technique of having me stretch the skin so that she didn't miss any hairs. (Some places in Berkeley don't do this and it's so inefficient!) It did take a little bit longer than I am used to from my place back home, but it was my first time in this place and we needed to do some reshaping. GO TO THIS PLACE. First, I want to say that the owner is professional, prices are reasonable, and the visit quick. The space is shared with a passport shop in the back half, so individuals needing a photo or print enter the main door and walk through the eyebrow threading salon, which is a little strange and increases the level of noise in the establishment, although the salon owner did play pleasantly relaxing music on the radio. The prices are very reasonable for a threading, which is probably a draw for college students; however, the quality is poor. The owner did a decent job with the brow arch, but the threading was too slow and slowly pulled out each hair rather than a quick 'zip'. She also missed much of the baby hair between the brows, higher up from the arch, and further back from the point. Finally, sanitation was sorely lacking. I'm not sure if it was the lack of alcohol to clean beforehand or the aloe vera slathered on afterward, but my forehead was breaking out for a week straight with bright red splotches, which was an unsettling first and definitely the worst experience I've had after years of threading. I am very surprised by the lack of issues reported on Yelp. Maybe I just got unlucky, but both my partner and I had equally negative experiences - their forehead hurt for 2 days and my complexion was splotchy for 2 weeks (1 week of breakouts, then 1 week healing). There will not be a repeat visit, but I sincerely hope that no one else experiences the same situation. read more
