I walked in for a gel Removal today and was helped by Diane. Surprisingly, I didn't have to wait at all on a Saturday afternoon and was in and out in 30 minutes. As usual, I'm glad they don't use the tool that is like a sander to remove gel, and instead they properly soak in acetone and cotton, and then remove, so it's less damaging to the nails. I'll be back again soon as this is my regular nail spot. I recommend if you are looking for an affordable, high quality, and vegan friendly salon! read more

Super bummed. Made an appt. Lady started working on my nails then a walk-in came in. She told me to let my nails soak for 10 minutes 25 minutes later somebody else had to come work on my nails and then another lady had to work on my nails. Ended up leaving because they wanted me to wait again. One of the ladies is offered for me to come back later today, but it doesn't fit in my schedule. Won't be back beyond disappointed walk-ins were prioritized over an appointment. Just so it's clear I did not ask for a soak off and a nail design wasn't that complicated. read more

I've done to the same mani-pedi salon in San Francisco since 2010--until I discovered Kim and Diane at Polish Beauté. (I split my monthly visits between the two salons.) What keeps me going back is the reliability of the care, cleanliness, and service I receive--and the relationships I've made with my regular therapists. I leave Polish Beaute certainly feeling pampered and relaxed, but also a bit lighter and happier. Not at all what I wanted. They got the job done and my nails look clean but they're extremely thick which is never a good thing. Also, the manicure took exactly 2 hours. We had some miscommunication about what "hard gel" is but I told the tech that what she had put on the table was NOT what I wanted. She proceeded to put builder gel on my nails, hence the thickness. I've never written a review before, but this experience was so awful that I feel I have to warn others. It's been a little over a week since I went to this nail salon, and I'm honestly coming back here to write this because I can't stand looking at my nails any longer. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I had a Gel X removal, and they completely botched the service. The tech over-filed the sides of my nails so much that they are sore, red, and painful. On top of that, the middle of my nails still has leftover glue! They didn't even bother to clean it off properly. Now, because of the over-filing, the sides of my nails are literally lifting, and my nails look like a messy disaster. Not only is it sloppy work, but it's also damaging to my nails. Please save yourself the frustration (and the pain) and go somewhere else. read more

I had a hard Japanese gel on my nails and she patiently and diligently worked to get it "all" removed before starting my manicure. It took 10-15 minutes extra and she never once complained. She simply assured me she wanted to make sure it was all removed from my nails. All my nails are the same length and shape. My cuticles are trimmed and nothing straggly left behind. If I could give 6 stars I would! I moved here Oct 2019 and in my previous city I had a regular salon and nail tech I would see. I was determined to find the same in Berkeley. I saw that Polish Beaute had opened recently and had great reviews, so booked a gel manicure with Diane. I have never looked back! I love Diane's energy, . I brought my boyfriend for his first pedicure and Diane and Kim took really good care of us! We were the only two in the salon for the duration, which was really nice! The booking is easy, there are plenty of appointments when I am looking to book my next upkeep. As far as ambiance, I am used to the louder places with lots of nail techs and clients, a TV, etc.; here there is relaxing music, and I've never seen more than 4 employees there at a time, meaning there's really only 4 clients being served at any given hour. I say this only because I appreciate the quiet when I am getting my mani/pedi! Diane has attention-to-detail, takes her time, does a great job on my nails and offers different color options / lets me try different colors before choosing, and is overall so friendly! I typically get bored during mani/pedi, but I always enjoy seeing Diane for my service! She has also been flexible and accommodating which has been very much appreciated. TLDR; went for (what was supposed to be) a simple gel removal and one-color mani, left with residual gel still on my nails and a clear strengthener because I didn't have the time to get a fresh coat applied and dried on time. I made a reservation for a gel removal and spa manicure. I consider gel removal to be one of the most important processes in a manicure; if there is gel on the nails, the nails can't breathe and it's not considered good for the nails at all. So I wonder why such a high-rated nail salon can't even remove the gel properly.. I was really looking forward to getting these off and having a fresh coat of manicure(not gel) for fall, but because the gel wasn't properly removed, the nail polish that went on top obviously had weird ridges and bumps. Obviously I was not content with the quality of the mani but at that point I had sat there for such a long time that it wasn't even worth it to mention it to the staff. When I was about to leave, another person came and offered to re-do them for me. She then proceeded to remove all the new polish but I didn't have enough time to sit there for a completely new coat and dry it, so I just asked for a clear nail strengthener. I guess she also did that in a rush because I had residual stain from the nail polish that left the clear polish looking splotchy. Later that night I removed the clear polish and applied my own. I understand that this place is good with nail art, but what really is the point if they can't remove the old gel properly? I'd suggest equipping the technicians with drills so that the customers can get what they actually paid for. read more

Came here for gel nails- called in asking if I can do a walk in and she said to come right over. The place is clean, wide selection of nail paints. They didn't have the fake nail with colors to see which one you want. Nevertheless I went for the classic opi bubble bath. My only grievance with this place is that the girls here go on and on talking in their native language in front of you, sometimes pointing at you, repeating the words you said along with others, it feels incredibly disrespectful that couple of girls are just standing right in front of you and talking non stop looking at you, while doing your nails.
