My go to nail spot in berkeley. I always get gel X and pay around $65-70 (usually $50-55 for the set, $15 for removal) which is fairly priced in my opinion because they do really well with designs (hard to find at salons) and the retention is phenomenal. They last at least 4-5 weeks and I weight lift 5x a week so that says a lot. It costs more if you do designs but I believe the base rate for gel x is $40 or $45. The ladies are both super kind. I'm never there for more than an hour unless I have to wait, which is usually 15 min max. Couldn't recommend this place more read more

So far they are the best priced near the UCB campus, so I'm happy with that. They don't offer Gel-X but I'm satisfied with their full-set and fills. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because they were late to opening the salon and taking me in by 15min. Also, a full set w/ gel and French tip was $50 and a fill for the same thing was $46.. a $4 difference between full-set and fill didn't quite make sense. really small nail salon on telegraph, I decided to check it out since I didn't like my old nail salon considering the ladies there were quite rude. I went on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all, so I was seen right away. I got a pedicure with gel, and I got gel X on my fingers. The lady who did my nails was super sweet, and she took her time, and I was more than happy to come back. However, I had three nails just completely slide off over the weekend, literally just a day after I had gotten them done, so I think there was an issue with application, and perhaps it was not done correctly. The good news is that I was able to go back in, and she was able to redo my nails that had fallen off for no charge. I'm not sure if I'll be back here again considering I paid $125, and I had to go back twice to get my nails fixed, but they are sweet ladies. read more

Bad customer service. They dont take the time to tell you that they will help someone else after telling you "we're busy" and I sat for an hour. I would've decided whether to stay if they told me they were still going to help a party of three. I got there and they were helping two girls and so I waited. A group of three comes in and when they finish they start helping them, not telling me that they're an appt. So I ask when they're going to help me and she tries to give the excuse that bc I had come after the time I said they'd put appointments AFTER the fact that im sitting there for an hour with no explanations that another appt is coming and they're wrapping up. Also I've been here before and never had problems besides the fact that they rush their work and they don't accept card bc the machine is broken, that's def reportable. I asked specifically for Thu since she was the nail tech who created the design I wanted. I was greeted upon entrance and told to return in an hour, which wasn't a problem since I lived within walking distance. When I returned, I asked for a rose quartz acrylic set and showed Thu my reference photo (shout out to Isabel K. who initially posted her nails on Yelp which I used as my reference photo). Thu was very attentive to detail and did an amazing job at recreating the design! She asked me about my preferences (i.e. nail length, placement of gold decor, etc.) throughout the appointment. She cared so much about the design and quality of the set that we were the last two to leave the shop. She was also very friendly and I enjoyed chatting with her during the appointment. I was so happy with the results and I thought they were perfect for my Disneyland trip. The price was also very reasonable (even more reason to leave a good tip). Typing this review right now with a full set has got to be the most difficult and strenuous task I've ever completed. But, I will do it happily if it means I can express my gratitude and support for T & T Nails!! I came in (as a walk-in customer) to celebrate my last CS final. The woman who did my beautiful set took only an hour and my friend (who had a more intricately designed set) had her nails done in a little over 1.5 hours. Both sets came out wonderfully done, and we couldn't be happier with the results. Keep in mind that this place is cash only, but the prices are cheap compared to other nail salons. A very memorable experience. Did you peep that? I said "memorable"... not "good". Chrome nails are what brought me here. I had never had chrome nails before and I found out that this place did them. I was super excited to find a place close by that did this kind of paint job. My first encounter here was walking in and not being greeted... even though nobody else was in there. Strike 1. As I started walking closer to the pedicure chairs, a lady yelled out "Can I help you?" from her seat. I mean, didn't even bother to get up. I told her that I was interested in getting chrome nails, and another lady pointed me to a chair. The second lady began working on my nails and she started painting them black. I was confused and wanted to make sure that she understood that I wanted chrome. She cut me off before I could ask her anything and said that she was "prepping my nails for it". Do you know that this "prep" took almost 30 damn minutes?! A half and hour of her painting my nails black with several coats and letting them dry over and over again. And she kept tapping my hand EVERY single time when she wanted to switch hands. Strike 2! Don't you think that after 30 minutes of doing that same ish, that I would get it by now? I sincerely thought that this broad was confused and didn't know what the hell she was going. Maybe this is the normal process for chrome, but nobody informed me of this. Finally, she passes me off to another lady named Tracy. She was much more friendly than the other lady, but took even longer to finish my nails. A fair warning ladies; if you are thinking about getting chrome nails, make sure you have at least an hour and a half to spare because that's how long it took for this process to get done. I just wish I would have known beforehand because maybe I would have been better prepared. She chatted with me for the first 10 minutes or so, and then started talking to the other lady in their native language for the rest of the evening. I've been to enough nail shops and I'm used to this, so generally, it doesn't bother me. But, what did bother me was that the other lady just sat there watching and staring at me the entire time that I was getting my nails done. Strike 3! They had their own private conversation during the majority of the time that I was there. The most uncomfortable feeling ever. It was like I was invisible. There was no TV or music on which made it even worse. The seats were also super uncomfortable with no type of back support. An hour passed, and Tracy finally finished my nails. Not gonna lie; when they were freshly done, they looked really nice. I got a ton of compliments on them and people kept asking me where I got them done. But the color started to deteriorate after only about a week and a half. And it looked really bad. The black started to show through the chrome and the chrome started changing colors. Do you know that this costed $50??? Expensive! And it barely lasted me 2 weeks before it started coming off. I can usually get a mani and a pedi for $50 that will last me for at least 3 weeks. I know that this is convenient for a lot of the Berkeley students, but it's just not worth it in my opinion. There are so many more options in the area. I would not come back, not even for the chrome. read more

I genuinely cannot believe the experience i just had. I scheduled an appointment online for regular acrylic nails 30$. There is a totally separate option for gel acrylics which is much more expensive 45$. I went in and tried to show the woman the receipt i had for my appointment that included the service requested and 30$ price! She didnt look at it then started. She did my whole set then tried to charge me 45 dollars for gel acrylics when i had scheduled an appointment for a 30$ acrylic without gel. When i tried to pull up the receipt and show her this woman began to YELL at me while i calmly asked her to please not yell and let me show her what i had signed up to get online. I showed her the receipt then also showed her that on their website there are entirely different sections to sign up for gel acrylics opposed to regular, and my receipt read 30$ for regular nails. She blamed me for incompetence. Clearly they didnt even look at the appointment i requested. As i have the website pulled up to show her that I did not select the gel option because they appear totally differently on the receipt from regular acrylics, she starts yelling louder and louder, even threatening me. The whole time i was entirely calm just stating that you cant charge me for a service i didn't ask for or even know you were going to do. She made a huge scene to the point where people on the street were staring at us, while i asked her to please clam down and stop yelling at me so we could get to the bottom of it. I have never seen an employee escalate a situation while the customer remained perfectly calm. Literally reported them to the health department. After she began to threaten me she stormed into the back room and began telling another customer (loudly) how i was crazy and evil etc. I am not a karen, and the last thing i wanted to do was argue but they were literally stealing from me. After she kept YELLING I just walked out and accepted that they had stolen from me. Not only that the place is really dirty. My nails look great though lol. read more

UPDATED REVIEW 3/10/20: I used to come here and get my nails done by Ken, but he no longer works here, but don't worry, I still love this place! Now my nail tech is Thu! She is amazing and can do almost any design you can imagine! (See pictures below) I always challenge her with new designs! They have a large range of nail gems and decor including pressed flowers, and holographic butterflies. Today i got a rose quartz set, pictured below. Prices are fair and Thu is talented and fast! The photos on here must be fake. Or like my nails you can't really tell they aren't snatched from a far. Thick acrylic. Random dips in my nails. A few of my nails were shaped unnaturally straight. There is no natural curve to the nail. One if. T nails looks like -even thought I just got them done it's about to pop off from improper applicInstead of being honest and saying my wish pic was more advanced then his skills, ken tried to convince me that the blue in my wish pic was white. I instead argue I agreed to his color suggest and decided to give his work a shot. Don't make the same mistake I made. UPDATE: shortly after my review Kelly reached out to me via text. I will attach the photos here, I am even more disappointed not only with the work but now with the lack of willing to satisfy customer. ESPECIALLY after they poorly attempted to reach out and make amends. If you are a customer service manager it is well within your means to refund an unhappy customer. I truly will never understand why nail shops do not offer refunds. I have been looking for a good place to get my nails done ever since moving to Berkeley, and i've definitely found my place! Definitely ask for Thu!! Thu did an amazing job on my nails, and she really took the time to make sure I was happy with them. She was super sweet and talked to me about her daughter, and moving to Berkeley as well. She definitely cares for her customers. I initially asked for longer, almond nails, but I changed to shorter and she took extra time to modify them to the length I felt comfortable with. Initially I was coming in for a pretty standard set of acrylics. But I saw they had jelly/ ombré dips on the wall, and she encouraged me to try them. I showed her a photo I found of an ombré I found on google and she recreated it perfectly!!!
