Horrible, this place charged me more than what I paid in San Francisco. The gel polish bubbled up within 2days bursting on my couch. Very unhappy with this, (Note: the nail techs are very confrontational if someone expresses discomfort, the don't acknowledge products they're using are causing discomfort to clients, they will definitely argue with clients making your experience very unpleasant.) Paid $170.00 for my polish to burst and ruin my brand new couch. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE HERE WAS HORRIBLE. A lady next to me was complaining about her nails burning, then one of the girls began saying is not their product doing it. Then proceeded toto speak in their native laughing mocking the lady, I felt so horrible as if this wasn't a paid service. Just had the worst nail experience ever . Been here two times before never had such a bad time . Got a pedicure and a gel x nails with design. Walked got seated at a pedicure chair where the massage chair didn't work . The other girls walks up to start doing my gel x while the pedicure is happening . No one was in the salon but me. That should have been a sign that a year later they have gone down in service . Pedicure lady was doing a great job till she painted my nails literally looks like a 3 year old did it. The paint is going out in corners . She must have noticed her mistake cause she used a filer to file my nails after gel polish was put on to hide mistake. Then gel x girl asked for pic of design which I showed told me it would cost 140 . Never once did the say they couldn't do the design. Sat with the girl for over 40 minutes she could barely paint the nails. Let alone do the 3d design . Then she proceeds to a make comment that it's taking long . Mind u when I sat at the pedicure and they had asked about the design I told them it doesn't have to be exact . When I told her I paid for only two hour parking she hurried up . Didn't put a top coat gel polish gave me cuticle oil and acted like she was done . The gel x cost me 125 honestly it's not even close to being worth that much . This has been my regular nail salon for the last 6 months and I leave happy every time. Mai is the BEST! She's so good at helping me pick the right neutral color for my skin tone. In the pictures attached, the opaque purple is the latest and current color I have on. When I showed them the picture of what I wanted they didn't have an opaque purple/lilac polish, but Mai was able to get creative and give me the color that I was looking for. The silver tips was the first time I had gel x tips on and they lasted about ~3 weeks. Right after that I had the opaque pinks and after that I did gel polish up until a week ago when I had purple/lilac done. I've also had pedicures and wax done which are great as well. I'd recommend this nail salon to anyone one who wants quality nails in a comfortable environment. read more

I paid $90 for basic french tip gel X with only one layer for the top part lol.. it's still transparent btw and inconsistent through my nails, it was rushed since there was only one worker doing two designs at once and i wasn't asked what i wanted for anything before applying it.. disappointed they don't have more staff to accommodate since they took on two customers at 6 pm at 7 close and are still working on another client, had both of us waiting lol. my two nails were crooked put on and i've been getting gel x for years consistently yet she tried telling me it wasn't and other peoples point of view is different. not okay tbh. i paid $103 w tip for extremely mediocre service and basic one layer french tips, the white part is still transparent. they also didn't help me with the burning of the light which all other nail salons at least ask before if it's comfortable. just a greatly rushed experience and did not feel welcomed, also was motioning my own hands at the end? read more

I came here to get GelX nails done for the first time ever! Anna was very nice and professional, and drew the designs really well. We immediately agreed on a sheer pink and she walked me through every step since it was my first time generally getting nails done. I've been thinking about when to come back, but my nails haven't fallen off yet and it's been 1 month! Had a great experience with Hannah! I had my gel X removed with an acetone soak and got a gel ombré manicure. She used an airbrush to get the ombré effect which I thought turned out really well, and the manicure itself was definitely one of the better manicures I've had, period. Not only is the salon extremely clean, they do an impeccable job with all nail needs here. Everyone is extremely sweet and professional, and ensure that their work is done perfectly. They really take their time on you here, which I appreciate each and every time. I highly recommend doing one of their Mani-Pedi spa treatment combos (you can see it in their menu) - I usually always get the Lavender or Mango Mani-Pedi spa treatment, and they're always a great source of relaxation for me. KIM IS THE BEST! I usually have my regular balayage and hair cut done by my usual hairstylist in SoCal but really wanted to get my hair done here in Berkeley. After a lot of research into SF/Berkeley/SJ salons (and even call consultations), I decided to go here because Kim was such a sweetheart over the phone. She thoroughly explained to me the prices, the duration for a cut + full color + treatment, and her availability. In person, she was even sweeter and honestly made me feel comfortable, heard, and relaxed throughout the 3-4 hours I was there. I consider myself pretty picky but also indecisive when it comes to the look I want-- Kim walked me through her thought process while honoring my wishes. (i also really like how she is pretty open-minded about what her customers may share) I think Kim is a fairly new addition to this salon so she may not be well-known in the area BUT please take a chance on her. Her English may not be the best to you but her work will speak for itself! Traumatic experience! I would like to share my experience at Spa Nails and Hair in hope of helping others avoid negligent treatment. Got gel manicure and gel pedicure (ok, not detailed work and thin layer polish) Waxing was done by Amy which ended up burning my skin with wax on both underarms and my genital area (Brazilian waxing ) not to mention she did not clean the area pre waxing and did not use powder or anything to protect skin from the wax she was using, it was super sticky! She waxed over same areas more than 3 times and was so painful. I had waxing done in my body before so I knew something wasn't right. Now it was time to pay....Amy had different prices (higher) so I asked her to honor the prices hannah provided me with. She argued about it and adjusted it and said I have to charge more for Brazilian wax and $10 extra for full Brazilian waxing. Anyway I was in pain and paid $206 for gel mani, pedi and waxing and I left. Next day, I went back to ask for a refund on the waxing part because I couldn't sleep from the burning/pain and under inspection I noticed Amy did not remove all the hair on my genital area and my legs, I was not happy. I had to undress again to show Amy the burns and bruises left on my body and she minimized it and said your skin is sensitive, just put vaseline. I asked her to take responsibility for her actions, and refund just for an incomplete job and damaged to my skin. She said let me ask Hannah for the refund.....minutes later both were being greedy and just wanted to refund 20%, after arguing back and forth they decided to refund only 50% ($56). It was a very uncomfortable situation to say the least. I blame myself for trusting this place and trusting Amy with my skin. So charming to Allure you in but not to face consequences for their actions. Most of us rely on places like this to get a pampering experience or get ready for a special occasion. But never prepared for the stress and trauma of what could have been a delightful experience. Thank you for reading about my story, hope it helps someone! read more

I haven't been amazed with my nails in some months, so it's safe to say I'll be back in about three weeks for a fill! Kim was amazing and accurate. Definitely a great first impression for me. I appreciate the informational reply, but at the end of the day, I feel that they are just excuses and this review should be taken into high consideration. I have been to other nail salons with the same exact services such as lip wax and acrylic removal and they have been very attentive to the removal of nails and I had no problems with my skin after the waxing. It is common sense that waxing or extensions are generally not good for you so with all due respect, I don't need an explanation on that part.
