I called Style Nails on the day of for a last minute appointment, and they were able to get me in at 5pm. That said, expect to be "squeezed in," cause I had to wait about 30-40 mins after arriving to actually be seen. But, still appreciated them taking me. I came in for a gel manicure on my natural nails, but 1 finger was chipped. I asked if they could do a single extension, they recommended to use builder gel instead. At first, it looked fine, but after it cured, it was noticeably thick and not shaped very well. As a result this one fell off after a week. I also tried to point out that the shaping on my nails looked inconsistent from one finger to the next. The technician told me it was just because my finger widths are different & it's impossible to make them look the same. I understand that natural nails are harder to make uniform (compared to extensions), but I was disappointed with the lack of effort. The gel manicure itself was okay. I got a pink color with chrome powder, it lasted about two weeks. Overall, for around $50, I feel like you get what you pay for. It wasn't a terrible experience, but the attention to detail, especially with the shaping and the builder gel, was lacking. The service was friendly though, and you get a stamp card for every visit. read more

I have been getting my nails done every two weeks for almost three years, and I still feel lucky that I found Trinh on my very first try after moving to the area. Her work is consistently amazing. I love fun, creative nails and usually come in with inspiration photos. Every single time, Trinh delivers!! My nails always turn out better than I imagined. Sanitation is a big deal to me. I had a hard time finding a salon in my last neighborhood that followed proper sanitary procedures, and this place was such a relief. They clearly take sanitation seriously, and I always feel comfortable coming here. I have also had great pedicure experiences, and the barber and hair side of the salon is impressive to watch. Fast, precise, and everyone leaves looking great. Writing this review feels risky because I want to keep my appointments, but this salon deserves the love!! If you want beautiful nails and a place that does things right, this is it!!! read more

I'm LOYAL to Trinh and have been going to her every 4 weeks for the last 3 years. After shopping around different nail salons for about a year I found Trinh. She always takes her time and is never rushing you out of the chair because she works by appointment only. You can bring any design to her and she'll kill it. She's also really efficient so I'm in and out within 1.5 hours. I've had a few pedicures too and it's always a pleasant experience. Highly recommend!! read more

I've never really tried this place but its walkable distance from my home. I love the service that you get. The ladies seem to be extremely nice and always asking it you want/need anything extra. I would say my biggest pet peeve in general is when they ask to either Venmo, zelle or provide cash for the tip. My phone is always at 5% so by the time I get out of there i don't even have a working photo to be able to tip. Otherwise, vibe is good and they do do a great job! read more

I am a guy and have gotten my hair cut here by Kimmy a couple of times. She is fast and does a nice job with my clipper cut fade. That's not a small order because I'm getting thin on top, but she seems to make it work. The bonus: She gave a short chair message afterwards -- not expected but welcome. Price was reasonable. Parking was free in the neighborhood, or you can park at a meter on University. Bottom line: This has become my new default haircut spot. read more

I would give the shop 5 stars if it wasn't for them using MMA and dental acrylic to cut costs. It's a shame because Trinh is a skilled nail tech who does really nice looking nails. If you do go here, avoid acrylic/monomer services, and stick to regular or gel polish, hard gel, gel-xtensions, etc but I do not recommend getting acrylic here. Edit: I do want to emphasize they do a good job overall and I'd probably go back for a pedicure, so I added a star. But my concern for their lack of concern using a banned ingredient remains. read more

After a very brief misunderstanding about my appointment time, the appointment went extremely well! I wasn't able to get the type of nail service I had initially scheduled (because of the time mix up), but the services I received (gel mani and regular pedicure) were above par! Holly did both my pedicure and manicure and both were very well done. They also have a loyalty program where after ten visits you get one free (don't quote me but don't forget to ask for a loyalty card). They accept Venmo and other forms of electronic payment. Staff members are extremely pleasant which makes for a very cool vibe. Scheduling thru Booksy is easy, but if you have questions you can always call. Last thing is I believe they are moving soon, so be sure to confirm address. read more

I've tried a couple nail salons in Berkeley, and this spot is my new favorite. Each time I've gone my cuticles look so goooood. They line up the edges of the gel so well that my nails didn't chip and lasted over 3 weeks. Their nail art looks great on their Instagram. Lately I've leaned towards simpler nail styles, and love their ombré options. Also don't miss out on their deluxe pedi. It is worth it! They used hot stones as a part of the massage. read more

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! The owner here is so nice and does a great job painting. He always checked and made sure I was happy with how things were going before he continued. The shop itself is very clean. I don't live in the area but whenever I am in Berkeley, I will definitely support them again!! I had a terrible pedicure experience here. The water in the foot bowl was lukewarm at best, and the nail tech cut me badly on my big toe, it started bleeding and stinging right away. I had to leave mid-appointment because I didn't feel safe continuing. To her credit, the nail tech did try to stave off the bleeding with neosporin, but regardless I would not recommend this salon to anyone. read more

I've trusted Trinh with my dip powder mani for quite some time now. She's the best that I have experienced. She keeps my nails healthy and looking good. She's also really good with designs. I can show her an inspiration photo and she'll do her thing. For my gel pedi I usually go to Joyce. She does an amazing job. She knows the length and shape I prefer. She I so meticulous and thorough. I can zone out and trust that at the end of the service my toes are immaculate. The few times I've had my pedi done by others have also been very good. This is a top shop! It is always clean, they offer beverages, and there's ample parking. Booking is easy through Booksy. I'm so thankful for their services. read more

Came all the way from San Francisco in traffic for a mediocre pedicure that was rushed and very impersonal. I'm more disappointed at the fact tht everyone seems dismissive & lost when things go wrong.! Not even the slightest concern by the manager.. WILL NOT BE BACK EVER AGAIN!!! The teg polish is old and dry.. and the massage chairs are uncomfortable af! Thought I had found an East bay nail shop but for pedicures THIS AINT THE ONE OR THE TWO!! Decided to try a new nail salon, and it also turned out that this salon is new! The salon is welcoming, clean, and has the nice massage chairs for pedicures. I got a gel manicure and pedicure. They look a lot of care in making sure my experience was nice and my nails look great. Calling to get an appointment makes things easier. Right now, they are waiting for their card machine to be delivered, so be prepared to pay with venmo, zelle, or cash. The prices are really reasonable. So glad to have found this place. read more

Got gelx done and already lifting after 1 week, I come in to get my nails done again and show an example photo of french tip and flowers on top for 4 out of 10 nails. The lady at the front desk is very rude when I mistakenly said I want a "fill" and explains multiple times to me that gelx is not a fill like I'm stupid, and seems annoyed with me when it was an honest mistake and I misspoke. After looking at the example photo they said that they don't have the artist available to do it nor do they have the 'tools' to do what I show as an example.. to paint a flower on top of a french tip? I'm not sure if they were confused with what I asked but after talking with the other technician she goes back to me and asks if I found another photo, which she didn't ask me to do, and I said no it's okay. This annoyed her too and she seemed very irritated with me, it seems like they lack professionalism and it doesn't hurt to be nice especially when I was being respectful and understanding. I understand that it can be very busy and stressful emvironment but it doesn't mean you can be rude and disrespectful to a potential client requesting a service. I will not be coming back. read more

I've been here twice and it is for sure my new nail spot! I came to try out a hard gel manicure and have been in love with my results. I also got a wonderful pedicure. My nail tech (sorry I didn't get her name) was so gentle on my feet. Usually I'm really sensitive so this was amazing. Trinh did my hard gel manicure and was so thoughtful, checking in with me about the shape, design, and my comfort level throughout. The space is clean and comfortable and the vibes are high. So many people have recommended this place. I have read many great reviews thought it was time to try it for myself. I was not disappointed!!! I called ahead to make sure it wasn't too busy. They had a spot open so I came in to get a mani and pedi. The space is super clean. The ambiance is calm and relaxing. Just what I needed. The wife and husband duo are super friendly and kind. She really took her time and took great care of me. I love this place. Highly recommend. Super quiet and friendly neighborhood nail shop with a freaking rock star nail tech on deck, and one of the most thorough pedicures I've received in a long time. I love all of the nail design options, Gel-X, mermaid gel that kind of stuff - and the consistently updated Instagram page helps me plan my next design! I'm almost afraid to praise this shop for fear that it may become overbooked and overpriced! And, if you're anything like me, you search out the bad reviews first and will never look at this 5 star review. The location is perfect for my Berkeley shopping circle since I'm always pleased to do business locally. The salon itself is immaculate and quiet with comfy chairs and a meditative screen showing Japan during Cherry Blossom season. Joy was my "specialist" extraordinaire! She showed amazing attention to detail, with everything from cleaning my feet, massaging my legs making sure to keep me comfortable. She was completely in control while painting my toenails with a gorgeous gel at a very reasonable price. This salon is the best, which is why I'm giving it all stars... even if lots of Yelpers won't read this. read more

My first time coming in I saw Jojo, then Hannah, then Cherry, all great work. Today I saw Lee who is also the manager and watching her work I was in awe. She was doing my builder gel mani while booking appointments, managing walk ins, checking out customers and answering calls texts, I don't know how she does it all without error but I can see why she's in charge. They are quite busy, so I recommend booking an appointment and coming during slower hours (it's never empty though!) sometimes I find myself waiting after walking in on a weekday afternoon or morning even because their customers always come back. No matter what they always find a way to get me in. They are very transparent with pricing, they will tell you how much everything is, add ons shape change etc. and it is good that they do this. My mani and pedi got a regular one was $140 all together because I chose to have 2 nails painted at a 1 level decoration that was $15. Which was beyond overpriced. I lib had seen the nail example of a level 1 decoration I would have never gotten it. The level 1 decoration for 2 nails was just a touch of glitter on top. That was ridiculous. I would have never paid $15 for a level design 1 that I could have done so easily by myself, it's super problematic that they charged that much. Also the woman at the desk was a Kurt and not super friendly. The computer was having problems charging my card, so she had to manually put it in. And that was fine but she had asked me if I wanted to leave gratuity after I told her no, since I had never been to the place before, I wanted to know if it was worth a tip. She then asked me again to tip after I told her no. No one is entitled to a tip unless they've earned it. I had a problem with her but my manicurist and pedicurist people were very nice. My manicurist Nguyen does a really great massage. Highly recommend her. They were polite and wanted to do a good job. I liked them. I do wish around my nails was more cleaned up, but maybe it's just my super dry skin. I do like that they offer drinks, like peach Prosecco. That was great and helped me forget the ridiculous overpricing. I understand they give benefits to their staff but like $15 for a level 1 decoration for only 2 nails is laughable. For a stroke of glitter on top???? Or we serious right now??? I'd never come here again unless I have a boyfriend or partner who is willing to pay for it for me. I like the woman at the front desk there is annoying. I'd go somewhere else more affordable. Also important note is that they had NO DRYER for your nails. She had to bring over a mini fan that was useless. It already made a chip and bubble in my nails. Not worth it... come here if you have someone else pay for it, and to support the women working there who do your nails but I wouldn't come here to pay for it myself.

Joy ended up being my technician and gave me some suggestions on what color nails I should do, since I wanted to match my outfit (if you know me you know me). Joy is actually a great tech, she's very patient and didn't rush the process. Joy sparked joy for me when she recommended the scrub. It wasn't just any scrub, it was a coffee scrub. I love the smell of coffee and this literally made my weekend. My feet felt so amazing afterwards and my nails looked so cute! My friends and I will definitely be back here the next time we in the area. And a special shoutout to Joy again for making my weekend perfect!

I had a terrible experience at this nail salon and would strongly recommend staying away. The moment I walked in, I was hit with a strong chemical smell that was honestly reminiscent of roach spray. On top of that, the staff were incredibly rude and unprofessional. There was no welcoming attitude, and any questions were an annoyance. Between the unpleasant environment and the poor service, this was easily one of the worst nail salon visits I've had. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't suggest anyone else waste their time or money here. read more

Trinh did a great job on my Gel-X nails and she works quick. However, the customer service could be improved, as she came across as a bit rude. While I'm okay with the quality of her work, the overall experience wasn't ideal. Additionally, haircuts were happening right next to the nail area, which isn't the best setup since hair can easily get into customers' spaces. Overall, the nails look great, but the experience didn't make me want to return. read more

Most excellent!! I just had the best and most thorough mani-ped I ever had!!!!!! That's saying a lot because for all my 42 years as a professional I had a mani-pedi regularly. I said I don't want it anymore, please just take it off. There was lumps of pink nail color near my cuticle. Then she said "okay I take off and just put 1 color on" and I was the only one at the store + there was another lady and she starts talking in her language and the lady goes to lock the door. I understand if I was being aggressive but the whole time, I was being very nice. She starts taking the color off and her drill kept going on my skin and my body jumped from being startled and she said "honey I'm not cutting your skin, I'm just taking the color off". My eyes were getting teary at this point. I told her no color and left paying $20 less than what was the original price for what I asked for. She said it would be $60, I gave her a $10 tip and it seemed she herself was surprised I tipped because she came after me and said I paid $70, I told her keep it, your tip. Left crying on Christmas Eve. If a customer asks if you know how to do it and you don't, just please say no and show some designs you're capable of doing.
